AEW Champion Jon Moxley: Stone Cold Steve Austin Revisited

March 13, 2020 • Admin

For years, WWE has tried to recreate Stone Cold Steve Austin. Sometimes the efforts were very subtle and other times, not so subtle. The excitement that once followed The Texas Rattlesnake to every town WWE ran, was infectious. It caught on in a major way and spread throughout the pro wrestling world. That excitement lead WWE over WCW during The Monday Night Wars and it completely revitalized Vince McMahon’s company. It’s arguably the most memorable and most popular part of The Attitude Era. WWE has tried to do it again with other Superstars, but to no avail. But now, AEW has found its own Stone Cold and the ironic part is, he used to work for WWE. Jon Moxley is the modern day rebel that every fan can believe in. He’s tough, he’s fearless and he’s unapologetic. He is who he is and nothing can change him. When Mox makes a prediction, he delivers. He fights the good fight and he does it his way. No one can tell him what to do and seemingly no one can stop him. If that sounds familiar, ..

How WWE Will Use Rob Gronkowski, Including WrestleMania

March 13, 2020 • Admin

It’s a nicer schedule. There are a lot of ways to get into wrestling and one of them is to have a solid background in another sport. It shows that someone has an athletic background and the wrestling promotion knows how to work with someone who has already gotten their foot in the wrestling door. That is often the case in WWE and it seems like it is going to be the case again. Every now and then, you see an athlete with so much personality and charisma that they would be perfect for wrestling. If they happen to be a professional athlete, they are probably going to be in good shape as a bonus. With all of those boxes checked, it makes sense to see what kind of interest there is from a wrestling company to see what they can do. Now we know the next big athlete jumping into the ring. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, former NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski, who has recently signed with WWE, will not be having a match at WrestleMania but is likely to be there in some capacity. ..

WWE Pressures Independent Companies To Stop Using Star

March 13, 2020 • Admin

That’s a big company for you. Whether you like them or not, the WWE is the most powerful wrestling company in the world. If they want someone or something, odds are they are going to be able to get it in the end. That’s how things have worked for a long time and it turns out that they can influence other companies at the same time. That is what they are doing now and a wrestler is suffering as a result. Ever since professional wrestling began, the idea of a wrestlers’ union has never come to pass. It is something that would be a huge problem for the promoters, which is why they have wanted to prevent anything from ever coming together. That may or may not be a good idea, but it is what WWE is going to do every time they have to. They did it again, and this time it is doing some damage to a wrestler’s career. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has pressured both Westside Xtreme Wrestling (German) and Progress Wrestling (England) to move away from David Starr, an indep..

WWE Confirms Big SmackDown Change

March 13, 2020 • Admin

And now it’s confirmed. The Coronavirus has been all over the news as of late and has all but wiped out the American sports scene. This of course includes professional wrestling, with so much of the focus being on WrestleMania. There are other things going on at the same time though and that includes the regular weekly television shows. With a lot left to go before WrestleMania, some decisions have to be made, and one of them has been made in a hurry. One of the biggest problems with the spread of the virus has been large crowds gathering together. The virus spreads so quickly between people and they take it back wherever they have been. As a result, several states and cities have banned, or at least requested, having such large gatherings of any kind. This can create a problem for wrestling, but WWE has a solution. WWE has released a statement to Prowrestlingsheet.com, announcing that this week’s SmackDown will be taking place at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida instead of..

AEW CEO Tony Khan Shares Interesting AEW Trivia

March 13, 2020 • Admin

It’s about something else. There is very little in the wrestling world that is not being affected by the Coronavirus at the moment. With so many negative things going on, it might be nice to talk about something positive for a change. In this case that means looking a bit backwards, but it offers a bit of interesting trivia from something not so very long ago. Odds are you have heard a little something about AEW. They have rapidly become the second biggest wrestling company in the United States and that puts them in some pretty solid company (elite company you might say). The sky seems to be the limit for them and that is something that could become a big deal in the near future. However, they almost got off on a completely different foot at one point. AEW President Tony Khan was a guest on AEW’s Unrestricted podcast and talked about a bit of the behind the scenes history of the promotion. Before the name All Elite Wrestling was chosen, the original plan was to call the promotion “Wo..

NXT UK Results – March 12, 2020

March 13, 2020 • Admin

NXT UK Date: March 12, 2020 Location: Coventry Skydome, Coventry, England Commentators: Andy Williams, Nigel McGuinness We’re on a fresh taping cycle and that means we’re on the way towards Dublin for the next Takeover. You can probably guarantee a Finn Balor vs. Walter United Kingdom Title match and that could be a heck of a showdown. The rest of the show is yet to be built but they still have time to get there. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Here’s Balor to get things going. He’s not here because he wants to boost the ratings but because he wants Walter. Therefore, here’s Walter, but the rest of Imperium follows him out. They come in after him but Balor nails a Sling Blade and bails in a hurry for fear of being destroyed. Viper got involved in the I Quit match because she couldn’t let Kay Lee Ray cripple Toni Storm. Ray is evil and Viper isn’t standing for that. Video on Tyler Bate. Pretty Deadly vs. Dereiss Gordon/Dan Moloney Stoker and Howley throw their shirts at them to..

BREAKING: Tampa, Florida Government Makes WrestleMania Decision

March 12, 2020 • Admin

Hold on a second now. We are less than four weeks away from WrestleMania 36 but things are getting rather confusing in a hurry. With so many things changing in the world due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it is not clear what is going to happen with the show but there are a lot of options at the moment. At some point it might not be under WWE’s control though, and that was almost the case this afternoon. One of the biggest ways that has been used to fight the spread of the virus has been through the banning of large gatherings. This can include numbers all the way down to 250 people in some cases, which would make WrestleMania that much more difficult. It was clear that the city of Tampa, Florida would get involved at some point and that point has now come. On Thursday afternoon, the Tampa, Florida city government held a meeting regarding the Coronavirus. One of the topics discussed was WrestleMania 36, with the decision being made to wait another week to see if WWE itself will make an..

Major Rezar Health Update, Including Possible Recovery Time

March 12, 2020 • Admin

That’s a bad result. You never know when you might see someone get taken out of the ring by an injury. It is the kind of thing that can happen at any given time and something that happens in a split second can put them on the shelf for a long time to come. Unfortunately that seems to be the case with a current WWE star and they could be out of action for a rather good while. One of the worst things that you can see in an injury is when it changes what happens to other wrestlers at the same time. If a wrestler is in a tag team, what happens to them can derail their partner’s career as well, especially if they are a team which does not work as well separated. That looks to be taking place now as a single injury could do damage to two wrestlers. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Rezar has suffered a torn bicep and will be out of action. At the moment it is not clear if he will need surgery, but if he does, he will be out of action for six to eight months. The injury took place on M..

RUMOR KILLER: WWE Coronavirus Story Shot Down

March 9, 2020 • Admin

They do have a bit of knowledge on the subject. If you have been paying attention to the news as of late, you have probably heard about the Coronavirus. The disease has been making its way around the world and killed thousands of people, which has caused several organizations to change plans. This has included sports leagues either canceling events or not allowing fans to attend. With WrestleMania 36 just around the corner, WWE has been in the news related to the Coronavirus, but it turns out that something is a little different this time around. One of the main things that you will hear people who have have contracted the virus doing is quarantining themselves to help prevent the spread of the disease. In addition to this, various companies have been asking employees to work from home instead of coming in to work and possibly contaminating others. WWE would be no different, but they might not have to be yet. Over the weekend, Brad Shepard reported that a WWE employee, who did not wo..

Major WrestleMania 36 Title Match Confirmed

March 9, 2020 • Admin

It’s a big one. History was made last year at WrestleMania 35. For the first time ever, a women’s match headlined the show, which seemed like an impossible dream just a year earlier. It was a true game changer and the peak of women’s wrestling. Becky Lynch won the triple threat main event and has held the title ever since. That makes for a big match coming up at WrestleMania 36 and now we know where the title match is going. Every now and then, WWE will do their best to set up a major match in advance without giving away what they are going to do. The problem comes when you know what is coming and it becomes very obvious, which leaves the next few weeks feeling rather unimportant. WWE made that happen again this time around and now we have the pretty obvious match set. On Sunday at Elimination Chamber, Shayna Baszler won the Elimination Chamber match to become #1 contender to Lynch’s Raw Women’s Title, with her title shot coming at WrestleMania 36. Baszler eliminated all five opponen..

Surprise Title Change Takes Place At Elimination Chamber

March 9, 2020 • Admin

Well that was a surprise. We are less than four weeks away from Wrestlemania and that means things are starting to come into focus. At the same time though, there are still a lot of things to get done first and that means we could see some things happen before we get there. That included at Elimination Chamber, there a surprise title change took place in a unique way. Titles are one of the most important things in all of wrestling. It is very rare to see a feud that doesn’t involve a title in some way and they are one of the easiest ways to advance a story. When someone steals a title from someone more deserving, it can get all the more frustrating and that can set up a heck of a rematch. That may be the case at the moment, with WrestleMania looming. Sami Zayn won the Intercontinental Title from Braun Strowman in a handicap match at Elimination Chamber. Zayn was part of a three man team, also including Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura, who helped him defeat Strowman. The match was Nakamu..

AEW Blood & Guts Participants Announced

March 9, 2020 • Admin

Someone has to get in there. While WWE may be presenting Elimination Chamber this weekend, it might not even be the most anticipated cage match coming this month. AEW is running their own major cage match this month with Blood and Guts, which is their name for WarGames. WWE has run their own version before, but this one is feeling different. Now we know what it is going to mean. WarGames is one of those matches that almost gives you chills. Some of the battles back in the WCW days were the things of legends and they make you wonder what kind of battles you could have in today’s wrestling world. The problem is you can’t have a classic WarGames match under WWE’s current rules. AEW does not follow those rules though and now we have people entering the battleground. AEW has announced that Blood and Guts will be a ten man tag with the Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, Santana and Ortiz) facing the Elite (Kenny Omega, Cody, Adam Page, Young Bucks). The match will take..

RUMOR: Two More WrestleMania Women’s Title Matches Coming

March 8, 2020 • Admin

That’s how you fill out a card. We are less than a month away from WrestleMania 36 and the card is starting to come together. However, if this year’s edition is anything like the previous years’ versions, the card is going to be rather full with all kinds of matches on the show. That includes several title matches, many of which will involve multiple challengers. We might know a few more that are coming. Women’s wrestling has come a long way in just a few years, with the Women’s Titles becoming big deals but also with the addition of Women’s Tag Team Titles. These new titles have added more spots for women to get on the card and that makes things better for everyone involved. All of the titles are likely to be involved in some way at WrestleMania and some of the matches might be big ones. According to Alex McCarthy of TalkSPORT, two more women’s matches are planned for Wrestlemania and both will be title matches. First, the SmackDown Women’s Title will be defended in a Six Pack Chall..
