March 16, 2020 • Admin

Ring of Honor Date: March 11, 2020 Location: UMBC Events Center, Baltimore, Maryland Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman Host: Quinn McKay We’re still in Baltimore and that means we should be getting close to the main event sooner or later. The show was built around the NWA invasion, meaning NWA World Champion Nick Aldis should be around. That could make for something interesting and that’s what this company is needing. Let’s get to it. We look at the NWA invasion as we move towards Aldis vs. Marty Scurll for the World Title. This ties into Rush vs. PCO for the World Title. Opening sequence. Rey Horus vs. Brody King Horus starts fast with the strikes but can’t get very far. Instead, King goes with the power to shove him down. They go outside and we take a rather early break. Back with Horus trying his own strikes, setting up a slingshot hurricanrana to the floor. King gets back in and blasts him with a clothesline, followed by the hard piledriver for two. Horus is right ba..

RUMOR: What’s Next For Brock Lesnar After WrestleMania

March 16, 2020 • Admin

That’s one way to go. Assuming it happens on time, we are less than three weeks away from Wrestlemania 36. The event is the biggest wrestling show of the year with several storylines and angles coming together on a huge card. With so much going on though, it can be easy to forget that there are shows to take care of after it is over. This includes some major talent, and one such name might already have their next match planned. There are very few wrestlers in history like Brock Lesnar. He is one of the biggest stars that wrestling has ever seen with a complete dominance that almost no one has ever been able to duplicate. Lesnar comes off as one of the most realistic threats to anyone and has held the company’s World Titles for a very long time. At some point though, he is going to run into someone like him and we may know who that is. According to Tom Colohue on Dropkick DISKussions podcast, WWE is planning on a Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley match at some point in the future. Their curren..

New CDC Recommendation Makes WrestleMania Seem Highly Unlikely

March 16, 2020 • Admin

That doesn’t sound great. WrestleMania is coming up but at the same time, the show is looking less and less likely. The Coronavirus has wrecked havoc on the world, including on sporting events. That very well may cause WWE to be forced to cancel the event, even if they certainly do not want to. While WWE is fighting to keep the show going, there might be a new development slowing them down. One of the biggest things holding the entire situation back is the idea of having so many fans in a single place. A lot of locations have banned mass gatherings, including some with as low as 250 people. That can cause a problem as far as bringing in fans, but with WWE holding their events in empty arenas, it can be done. However, things may be about to get more complicated. According to CNBC.com, the Center For Disease Control has recommended a cancellation of events with fifty or more people for a period of eight weeks. This would include anything from concerts to sporting events to family gathe..

Hangman Page’s Humorous Coronavirus Tips

March 15, 2020 • Admin

It’s nice to see a sense of humor. The wrestling world has been rocked by the Coronavirus as of late and that is easy to understand. With so many things changing in a hurry, there are only so many ways to keep wrestling going. It is causing several events to be closed and a lot of people are rather worried about the entire thing. However, some people are showing a sense of humor about the situation. Despite only being around for a short amount of time, AEW has become one of the bigger wrestling promotions in the world. The company has a large audience and they have turned some of their lesser known names have become stars for the first time. One of these names is Hangman Page, who has become a rather popular name for the company. Page has shown an ability to speak well and that is the case on paper as well. On Friday, Page tweeted out a document, explaining what he would be doing to help keep himself safe from the Coronavirus. This includes a variety of humorous suggestions, includin..

Here’s Something That Drives Vince McMahon Crazy

March 15, 2020 • Admin

It doesn’t take much. Vince McMahon is not like normal people. There are certain things about him that are rather strange indeed and there is no way to deny it. Aside from being the most powerful man in wrestling and one of the richest people in the world, there are some strange things about him that only apply to McMahon. Sometimes he reacts to things in a bizarre way and that might be the case again. Every now and then, you see someone who takes the wrestling world by storm. That was the case in 2018 when Ronda Rousey debuted at the Royal Rumble. About fifteen months later, she was headlining WrestleMania in an historic moment, but she has not been in the ring since then. She was at WWE headquarters last week, but McMahon himself was not all that pleased. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, McMahon was not pleased when the photo of Rousey and Cain Velasquez was posted as Rousey being at the office was supposed to be a secret. However, McMahon could not fire the person w..

Florida Government Officials Likely To “Pull The Plug” On WrestleMania

March 15, 2020 • Admin

That doesn’t sound good. We are just over three weeks away from the scheduled date of WrestleMania 36 but at the moment, things are not looking very positive. There is a real chance that the show will not be taking place, as the worldwide spread of the Coronavirus may cause the show to be canceled. The decision currently lies in WWE’s hands, but that could change in a hurry. This past Thursday, the Tampa, Florida city government announced that they would be making a decision regarding WrestleMania 36, assuming that WWE did not make the decision in the first place. However, WWE has said that they will be continuing on with the show for the time being. That would suggest that the ball is in the government’s court, and they might make a decision in the near future. According to FOX 13 (Tampa), Hillsborough County Commissioner Les Miller said in a Friday interview that if WWE does not change course and cancel the show, the government would have to “pull the plug” and cancel the show them..

WWE Superstar Jumps From Monday Night Raw To SmackDown

March 15, 2020 • Admin

These people still have to move. The world has kind of come to a standstill due to the Coronavirus but WWE is managing to be one of the few entertainment businesses still moving along. That offers a little relief to some people and that includes being able to make sure things stay interesting. In this case, that means changing some things up to keep the company moving. That seems to be the case again this weekend. Over the last week, one of the bigger WWE stories has been the signing of Rob Gronkowski. While he has not officially signed with the company yet, it seems to be the likely case in the near future. That kind of a move changes the way things go in the company and it turns out that it is going to affect someone else. That move has already taken place and it was apparent on Friday. According to PWInsider.com, Mojo Rawley has been moved to SmackDown from Monday Night Raw. Rawley appeared on this week’s SmackDown to hype up Gronkowski’s debut next week, with the move being a per..

How AEW And WWE Continue Running Live Television

March 15, 2020 • Admin

So how does this work? There are a lot of changes going on in the world at the moment and a lot of them have to do with wrestling. For the most part, wrestling has come grinding to a halt, but there is still out there, especially at the top of the food chain. This includes both WWE and AEW, which are managing to continue their shows despite various governments banning large gatherings. How does that work? While they may not seem like the traditional shows, WWE ran NXT, SmackDown and 205 Live this week, all from the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The latter two shows were both held in empty arenas with no fans, which keeps the companies in line with rules of not having a large crowd gathered for the events. So what are they doing to make this possible? According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE and AEW have been allowed to continue running their shows because there are less than 250 people in the building at a time. This includes wrestlers, production workers and other on-air..

WATCH: The Undertaker vs. Triple H, No Holds Barred From Wrestlemania 27

March 14, 2020 • Admin

I have nothing else to say, except that this was a war. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full match between Triple H and The Undertaker from Wrestlemania 27. The two legends competed in a No Holds Barred match. You can see the match in its entirety below: From WWE.com: The King of Kings came to WrestleMania XXVII to do something that no man has ever done before. In front of more than 70,000 screaming fans in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome, he planned to walk into the ring against The Undertaker and walk out as the only man to ever defeat The Last Outlaw on The Grandest Stage of Them All. It was a showdown every bit as epic as expected — two Superstars who defined an era in WWE clashing in a battle for the ages. But Triple H’s obsession with burying The Deadman was not to be. Just like 18 other brave souls did before him, The Game fell to The Undertaker at WrestleMania, becoming No. 19 in the most legendary streak in all of sports-entertainment. Whe..

Impact Wrestling Results – March 10, 2020

March 14, 2020 • Admin

Impact Wrestling Date: March 10, 2020 Location: Sam’s Town Live, Las Vegas, Nevada Commentators: Don Callis, Josh Matthews It’s a big showdown match this week as we have the fifth match in a best of five series between Eddie Edwards and Michael Elgin. The winner gets the World Title shot at Tessa Blanchard at Rebellion and that means we have something special tonight. You have to have a good main event like that so hopefully this one works. Let’s get to it. Opening recap. Opening sequence. Mad Man Fulton vs. Rhino The Crists are at ringside….and get ejected early on for trying to interfere. With the two of them gone, Rhino shoulders him down and takes it to the floor for a ram into the apron. A clothesline hits the post though and Fulton sends him into the apron as well. Back in and Fulton pounds away in the corner, followed by a running shoulder to the ribs. Rhino fights back up with some right hands to the head, only to get elbowed right back down for two. The chinlock (or cobra..

WATCH: Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior From Wrestlemania VI (6)

March 14, 2020 • Admin

Title for Title, Icon vs. Icon. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel, in which they show the full match between Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior from WrestleMania VI (6). In this match, both the Intercontinental and WWF Championships were on the line. You can see the match in its entirety below: From our own Thomas Hall: They lock up to start and both guys are shoved into the corner. We get the iconic test of strength with Hogan going down first, only to fight back up and take Warrior down. They trade slams but it’s Warrior getting the better of it and clotheslining Hogan to the floor. Hulk comes up holding his knee and says he’s blown it out. He gets back in and Warrior kicks away at the knee but Hulk stops selling it about ten seconds later and it’s never mentioned again. Hulk comes back with right hands and a clothesline in the corner as the fans are losing their minds over every single move. Off to a front facelock on Warrior (Jesse: “Ask Richard Belzer!” Belze..

REVIEW: Ring Of Honor Final Battle 2019: Final Wouldn’t Be Bad

March 14, 2020 • Admin

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Final Battle 2019 Date: December 13, 2019 Location: UMBC Events Center, Baltimore, Maryland Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman, Colt Cabana Yeah I know it’s been awhile since this show took place but given the place Ring of Honor has been in over the last few….well nearly years now, it took some time to get me to care enough to do the show. That being said, the company has a tendency to be a lot better when they just stick to the wrestling so hopefully that is the case here. Let’s get to it...

Update On Streaming Services Acquiring WWE Pay Per Views

March 14, 2020 • Admin

Not so fast? Things are a bit crazy in the wrestling world at the moment and that might be the case for a long time to come. There are still going to be wrestling shows in one form or another, but that does not mean they are going to be what you are used to seeing. At the same time, things may be changing in how you can watch pay per views, but it might not be for a little while longer. In February, a story made the rounds about WWE attempting to sell their pay per view rights to a streaming platform. While no platform was ever named, various services such as Peacock and ESPN+ were mentioned. There were various questions still to be answered about such a move, but the move was sounding likely. It has not happened yet, but now we have an update. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, negotiations are still ongoing between WWE and the various possible partners. It is not clear when any deal could be made or which platform could be making a deal with WWE. The deal will not incl..

Here’s Why Paige Missed Her Advertised SmackDown Appearance

March 14, 2020 • Admin

She would have added something. This week’s SmackDown was a rather unique show as the episode took place at the WWE Performance Center in front of no fans. That isn’t something that viewers are going to be used to seeing but it might need to become the case. As a result, the focus was on the people in front of the camera more than ever, but one of them was not there. SmackDown was built around three big names returning to the show: Jeff Hardy, John Cena and Paige. Hardy wrestled a match and Cena went face to face with Bray Wyatt, but there was no sign of Paige. She was supposed to speak to Bayley and Sasha Banks about their disrespect to the women’s division, but she did not show up, and it turns out that there was a good reason. Paige posted a message on her Twitter account, saying that she was not at the show due to travel issues, which was the reason given for her absence on commentary. According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, this was due to Coronavirus related travel concerns. There is..

WATCH: SmackDown Match Completely Stops During Commercial

March 14, 2020 • Admin

It’s a perk of the SmackDown location. Things are changing in a hurry in WWE due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus as their recent shows have had to take place at the Performance Center instead of in the usual arenas. This has caused a bit of a problem for the show, as there is no crowd to play to, which can change the dynamic of a show. There is however a benefit that you don’t get during a regular show. One of the things that WWE teaches to its young wrestlers today is to play to the camera. As Lance Storm said, there are more people on the other side of the camera than there are in the arena and that means it makes more sense to worry about the camera than anything else. This time around though, since there are no fans in the arena, there was something else involving the camera. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com has posted a video to his Twitter account showing what happened when the cameras were off during a match at this week’s SmackDown. During the break in the match between the ..

WATCH: Enzo Amore Does The Coolest, Kindest Thing You’ll See Today

March 14, 2020 • Admin

That’s just cool. As bigger wrestling fans, there are times where we start to forget how awesome some of these wrestlers are. There is something so special about watching your heroes fight the villains in a ring, which is what wrestling boils down to when you forget everything else. These people are important to a lot of fans and it’s cool to see them get some special treatment, which is what happened this week. I know he might not be the most popular name of all time, but there is no denying that Enzo Amore knew how to get a reaction. No matter what he did, either in the ring or out of it, fans were going to pay attention to what he did. While Amore rarely wrestles anymore, he is still making a name for himself in the hip hop industry. He is best known as a wrestler though, and one of his fans got a big treat. On Friday, Amore released a video showing himself delivering a pizza to a long time fan on her birthday. Amore delivered the pizza to Destiny, who is in a wheelchair, along wi..

WWE Makes Decision On Next Week’s Monday Night Raw

March 14, 2020 • Admin

You might be getting used to this. The Coronavirus has been shaking up the entire world, in addition to the wrestling world. I’m not sure what this is going to mean going forward for the major shows that are coming up, but things have already started changing in a hurry. With so much stuff going on at once, it can be interesting to see what is changing. Now we know one of the next major changes. One of the major changes that has taken place involves the locations where wrestling shows can take place. Several locations are not allowing mass gatherings over a certain number of people, which has limited the amount of places that can hold events. As a result, WWE does not have the best set of options for their weekly television shows, but now they have figured something out, at least for the time being. WWE has confirmed that next week’s Monday Night Raw will take place at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. This is the third consecutive show to take place at the Performance ..
