It’s Time To Shake Things Up Again! 2019 WWE Draft Officially Announced

September 16, 2019 • Admin

A little change can be good for everyone. It had been previously rumored that a WWE Draft was coming, in order to help with the company’s upcoming move to FOX on October 4. WWE confirmed the news tonight during the 2019 Clash of Champions pay-per-view, and posted the following about it on WWE.com: There’s about to be a Draft in here! The destinies of WWE Superstars will be determined during a two-night WWE Draft taking place live on Friday Night SmackDown on Oct. 11 on FOX and Raw on Oct. 14 on USA Network. On both nights of the Draft, Superstars from Raw and SmackDown will appear along with personalities from FOX and NBCUniversal programming to announce select picks that will determine the rosters of each distinct brand. How Is Your Bracket? Updated King Of The Ring Tournament Bracket Plus Remaining Schedule.

August 28, 2019 • Admin

And then there were half. Earlier this month, WWE announced the long awaited return of the King Of The Ring tournament. The tournament, which has been held intermittently since the end of the annual competition in 2002, offers an instant upgrade for anyone who wins it, making the tournament a rather important accomplishment on almost any resume. And now, we’re done with the first round. After this week’s SmackDown Live, the first round of the King Of The Ring tournament has come to an end, leaving the field at eight instead of the sixteen that started. The quarterfinals will take place on next week’s Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live, the semifinals the week after that and the finals at Clash Of Champions. Here are the updated brackets: Monday Night Raw Samoa Joe Ricochet Cedric Alexander Baron Corbin SmackDown Live Elias Ali Chad Gable Andrade There was some good action on Tuesday. The Small Ones. New Title Match Set For Clash Of Champions.

August 28, 2019 • Admin

From the purple crew. Clash Of Champions is coming up pretty soon and that means that WWE needs to get some more of the card together pretty fast. This week has already seen a few matches announced for the show, but with so many titles floating around WWE, there is almost always one more thing that needs to be set up. One of those was taken care of on Tuesday night. On this week’s 205 Live, Humberto Carrillo defeated Oney Lorcan to become the new #1 contender to Drew Gulak’s Cruiserweight Championship. Lorcan has spent several weeks chasing the title but lost in his title shot against Gulak at Summerslam. Carrillo has also been positioned to get a shot at Gulak, though this will be his first title shot of any kind in WWE. They beat each other up pretty well. Check out the match: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: There were only two options to challenge Gulak and Carrillo was one of them. WWE has made him feel like a bigger deal over the last few weeks and as he an..

(VIDEO): They Had Potential. Team Splits On SmackDown Live As A Big Storyline Takes A Twist.

August 28, 2019 • Admin

They worked so well together. Teams come and go all the time in wrestling and you never can tell when things are going to go south for what seems like a good pairing. Ever since the Rockers’ split back in 1991, WWE has seemed more fixated on destroying a team rather than having them last for a long time. Another team seemed to come to an end this week and it was rather sudden. This week on SmackDown Live, Roman Reigns showed a video that seemed to show Erick Rowan helping in the forklift attack that almost took Reigns out. Rowan’s partner Daniel Bryan yelled at Rowan and slapped him in the face while calling Rowan a liar. This seemed to dissolve their partnership, while also announcing Rowan as at least one of Reigns’ attackers. Rowan and Bryan have been a team since January and held the SmackDown Tag Team Titles from May 7 until July 14 of this year. So much for that. Check out the split and Reigns’ reaction: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This seems like some..

Chris Jericho is the World Champion that AEW Needs at ‘All Out’

August 28, 2019 • Admin

Chris Jericho will face Hangman Adam Page at AEW’s All Out on Saturday, August 31 in Chicago. The winner of that match will become the first-ever AEW World champion and will reign over the new company, which will make its weekly TV debut on TNT in October. This will not be the first time that Jericho has been in the main event spotlight of course and it will surely not be the last. However the same cannot be said of Page, who is being groomed for a top spot in the company. But while his time will come soon enough, Jericho’s time is now and he should win it all on August 31. Chris has been to the mountaintop of the industry on six different occasions. All of those titles came in WWE of course, with the most notable one being the industry’s first ever Undisputed World Championship. Very few gave Jericho a chance during that time and it had nothing to do with his ability in the ring. WWE was rife with Hall of Fame talent at that time, including Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. But ..

So Soon? Local Advertisements Promoting A Pretty Surprising Challenger For Hell In A Cell On October 6.

August 28, 2019 • Admin

Isn’t that a little soon? Over the last few months, Bray Wyatt has been one of the most talked about performers in all of WWE. With the mixture of his Firefly Fun House and Fiend characters, it has been hard to look away from him, no matter what he does. The things he has been doing in the ring have been second to none and now there is a chance that he is going to be doing something big. The Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California is advertising Wyatt as the challenger for the Universal Title, held by either Braun Strowman or Seth Rollins, at Hell In A Cell in the show’s namesake match on October 6. These advertisements are not always accurate, but there is a chance that Wyatt will be returning to the ring and receiving a title shot. Wyatt has wrestled one televised match in a year, when he defeated Finn Balor at Summerslam. Get ready @WWE fans… “The Fiend” @WWEBrayWyatt challenges @WWERollins or @BraunStrowman to a #HIAC match! SmackDown Live Coverage And Results – August 27, 2019

August 27, 2019 • Admin

Smackdown Date: August 27, 2019 Location: Raising Cane’s River Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana Commentators: Corey Graves, Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton The first round of the King of the Ring wraps up tonight and it’s getting pretty clear that Raw is the favored side. The talent pool just feels deeper over there as this show is going to include Shelton Benjamin getting a first round match. Maybe that would have been interesting fifteen years ago but it doesn’t quite work right now. Let’s get to it. We open with the same video on Roman Reigns’ attacks that we saw last night. Reigns promises a response to Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowan in the ring tonight. Here’s Kofi Kingston for a chat, but first we see a video on Randy Orton’s attacks since Summerslam. Kofi has heard Orton calling him stupid but who got knocked out last week? Now Orton is trying to turn this personal and he’s bringing in the Revival to help him out. That means Orton is seeing the look when you mess with Kofi’s family s..

Do It Again. Championship Rematch Set For Clash Of Champions.

August 27, 2019 • Admin

You had to get this one on there. In September, WWE will be presenting its annual Clash Of Champions pay per view, which will be featured around all of the titles the company has to offer. That is quite a high number, as the company has gone a little bit title crazy. There will be a lot of titles on the line, but not very many of them have been set. One more has now been taken care of. As announced on WWE.com, WWE Champion Kofi Kingston will defend his title against Randy Orton at Clash Of Champions. The match has been teased for a few weeks now, as Kingston vs. Orton went to a double countout at Summerslam. Since then, the two have continued their feud, with the New Day and the Revival getting involved. Clash Of Champions takes place on September 15. The promos have been the best part. Check out Orton’s thoughts on Kingston: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This isn’t a surprise as the match was all but made over the last few weeks, but it is nice to have the ma..

Write It In Pen. What Is Planned For The Raw Tag Team Titles At Clash Of Champions?

August 27, 2019 • Admin

The more plans change. We are less than three weeks away from Clash Of Champions and the card is starting to take some shape. The show is built around all of the titles that WWE has, which is quite a number indeed. All of the titles are only line throughout the show and that means champions need to be in action. One person currently holds two titles, but is that going to be the case at the show? According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins are likely to hold onto the Raw Tag Team Titles all the way until Clash Of Champions. The main selling point for the two of them has been both men wrestling twice in one night, meaning they are unlikely to drop the titles before the pay per view. Rollins and Strowman are scheduled to defend their titles against Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode before facing off for the Universal Title later that night. The title match is a big deal. Check out how it was set up: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I can’t say..

Steaks And Lower Weights. WWE Superstar Praised For Getting In Better Shape And Dropping Weight.

August 27, 2019 • Admin

It’s worthy of a mention. Wrestlers have a lot of things to do and that means they have to work on a schedule. There are all kinds of responsibilities that come with being a wrestler and some of those things are more important than others. One of the most important is to stay in shape, and one particular wrestler has gotten in such good shape that WWE has noticed. According to PWInsider Elite by way of 411mania.com, WWE officials are very pleased with Tucker’s recent weight loss and efforts to get in better shape. There is no word on any potential heat on Tucker for his weight and fitness before he lost weight. Tucker and his partner Otis were in action on this week’s Monday Night Raw, making it to the finals of a Tag Team Turmoil match. The team did well this week. Check out some of the Tag Team Turmoil match: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: That’s the kind of thing that always deserves some praise as it takes some effort to lose weight as a wrestler, or for an..

The Boss’ Boss. Backstage Details On Sasha Banks’ Character, Including The Person Behind It And The Idea.

August 27, 2019 • Admin

Someone is behind this. Earlier this year, the WWE women’s division reached its pinnacle with a women’s match main eventing WrestleMania 35. Just a few years ago, the idea of something like that happening would have been impossible to fathom. The women’s division is still going strong and the return of Sasha Banks has made it better. Banks has a new attitude lately and that is the result of someone working with her on the character. According to Wade Keller’s Post-Raw Show, Banks’ promo from this week’s Monday Night Raw and her character since returning have been heavily influenced by Paul Heyman. Since her return, Heyman has been a major part of Banks’ character and helped shape the entire thing. The story is meant to play off of Banks’ absence and unhappiness with the company over the summer in an effort to mix storyline and reality. She has a reason. Check out Banks’ promo from this week’s Monday Night Raw: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Banks’ promo was not..

Give Them A Minute. Why Becky Lynch And Seth Rollins Were Not On Monday Night Raw.

August 27, 2019 • Admin

Everybody needs a break. Wrestling is a grueling sport with wrestlers spending a lot of time on the road every single week. With so many shows to perform on, it is rare for them to actually get any time off. That has been changing a bit in recent months with WWE allowing some couples a bit more time away from the ring. This was the case again this week and the absences were notable. According to PWInsider.com, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch were not at this week’s Monday Night Raw as the two were on vacation together. Rollins did appear in a pretaped backstage segment while Lynch was not on the show. Lynch tweeted about Sasha Banks’ promo during the show and did not seem to be impressed. Rollins and Lynch announced their engagement over the weekend. Pity you can’t promo in emo memes and song lyrics too, huh? — The Man (@BeckyLynchWWE) August 27, 2019 Rollins and Lynch work together well. Check out a brawl involving the two of them earlier this year: [This post contains video, click ..

Not So Fast. Paul Heyman Is Not Allowing Two Wrestlers To Perform On Monday Night Raw For A Specific Reason.

August 27, 2019 • Admin

You need a seal of approval. Monday Night Raw has been changing a lot as of late with Paul Heyman having taken over. The move means that he gets to run things how he sees fit on the show and that can cause some changes. Some new talent has been pushed in some different ways with new faces getting the spotlight. Two faces have been seen weekly, but won’t be in the ring anytime soon. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the Street Profits have not yet wrestled on Monday Night Raw because WWE wants them to get over before being put in the ring. The problem is that if they wrestle, they will have to lose and therefore they will not seem as important to the fans. The idea is to treat them as something different than a regular NXT call up. There is no word on when the Street Profits will be getting in the ring. The Profits were chatty last night. Check out them talking about the Tag Team Titles: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: In a way this makes sense but in a way ..

Welcome Back! Former Tag Team Reunites Before Monday Night Raw.

August 27, 2019 • Admin

Good to see you again. This week on Monday Night Raw, Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode won a Tag Team Turmoil match to become the new #1 contenders for the Raw Tag Team Titles. Their title shot will come at Clash Of Champions against new champions Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman, who won the titles in their first match as a team. It is clear that WWE is paying attention to tag teams, which makes another development more understandable. According to Wrestlinginc.com, Heath Slater and Titus O’Neil wrestled in a match during this week’s Main Event tapings, defeating Eric Young and Mojo Rawley before Monday Night Raw went on the air. Slater and O’Neil teamed together as Slater Gator from late 2014 until early 2015 with little success. There is no reason to believe that this is anything more than a one off match instead of a full time reunion. They were kind of legendary. Check out one of their rather amusing promos, complete with a mascot: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinio..

REVIEW: King Of The Ring 1994: Someone Call For A Revolution

August 27, 2019 • Admin

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? King of the Ring 1994 Date: June 19, 1994 Location: Baltimore Arena, Baltimore, Maryland Attendance: 12,000 Commentators: Gorilla Monsoon, Randy Savage, Art Donovan It’s tournament time and that means it’s not likely to be the most interesting show in the world. On top of that, this is one of the weaker fields they’ve ever had, which makes for a rather dull few hours. Finally, this show is infamous for the commentary, which really was a disaster and a horrible idea. Let’s get to it. Earlier today, Je..

It’s A Long Night. Two Dark Matches Take Place After This Week’s Monday Night Raw.

July 9, 2019 • Admin

Just in case it didn’t go long enough. Monday Night Raw and WWE in general are in a weird place at the moment. The fans are not interested in most of what they are being presented and that has been the case for a long time now. It would seem to be a good idea to change things up a little bit, but that has never changed WWE’s mind before. After this week’s Monday Night Raw, they were right back at it again. According to Ringsidenews.com, there were two post show dark matches after Monday Night Raw. First up, Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch successfully defended the title against Lacey Evans. The second match saw Baron Corbin lose a street fight to Universal Champion Seth Rollins after getting in an argument with the referee. The two teams will face off on Sunday at Extreme Rules in a Winners Take All match. The winners were in action on Monday Night Raw as well. Check out their efforts in a warmup match: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I don’t know how many fans..

Main Event Results – July 4, 2019

July 9, 2019 • Admin

Main Event Date: July 4, 2019 Location: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Byron Saxton, Renee Young It’s a holiday edition of the show and that isn’t likely to matter as this is mainly an international show. Things got a lot more interesting this week on Raw and hopefully that carries over to here as well. Smackdown was its usual slog of a two hour show but it’s not like Smackdown means anything around here. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Dana Brooke vs. Sarah Logan It’s trilogy time and we even get a recap of their previous matches. Logan kicks her in the face to start and hits a few slams, setting up some howling. We’re already in the chinlock, drawing a rare DANA chant. Dana sends her outside for a cartwheel elbow to the face, followed by the Wade Barrett middle rope suplex into a suplex. A headscissors sets up a rollup for two on Logan, who is right back with the standing Texas Cloverleaf. That’s broken up as well so it’s the cartwheel splash for two on L..

It’s A Defensive Issue. Here’s What Started The Heat Between Matt Riddle And Goldberg.

June 17, 2019 • Admin

That’s an explanation. You never can tell when a wrestling feud is staged and when there is something actually going on. I know it seems fine on paper most of the time, but sometimes there are feuds that take things a little more seriously. Other times, the heat between the wrestlers doesn’t even play out in a match, which can be very interesting in its own right. That seems to be the case this time and now we know why. According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, the heat between Goldberg and Matt Riddle stems from Riddle not liking Goldberg’s technique when using mixed martial arts style offense in professional wrestling matches. Riddle considers Goldberg’s work sloppy in that area and called Goldberg out as a way of defending mixed martial arts. During and after Goldberg’s match against Undertaker at Super ShowDown, Riddle mocked Goldberg’s technique and abilities in the ring. There is no word on any potential match between the two. That makes more sense. Check out some..

(WATCH): Lucha Bros vs. Young Bucks In A Double Or Nothing Rematch.

June 17, 2019 • Admin

It worked before. The Double Or Nothing card was one of the better in recent wrestling history. Everyone was working as hard as they could to tear the house down and there wasn’t a bad match on the card. Some of the matches were better than others though and that made for a heck of a night of wrestling. Less than a month later though, a rematch has taken place and something has changed. On Sunday at AAA’s Verano de Escalando, the Lucha Bros defeated the Young Bucks to regain the AAA Tag Team Titles. The Bucks had defeated the Bros for the titles earlier this year and successfully defended them in a rematch at Double Or Nothing. Both teams are signed to exclusive contracts with AEW, though the deal only applies to appearances in the United States. They did it in style. Check out how the Lucha Bros got the titles back: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This isn’t the biggest surprise in the world and there’s nothing wrong with that. Considering their first match took..
