Samoa Joe: "I Relish Any Chance To Punch AJ Styles In The Face"

The two men will fight forever. Samoa Joe and AJ Styles' careers have been synonymous with one another seeing as how they both were focal points in TNA and rose to the top of the mountain at similar times. Over the years the two men ended up in the same locker rooms and encountered each other as their careers progressed and both found their individual success. Samoa Joe is now three years into his WWE run and AJ is two years into his and now they both are a part of the SmackDown Live brand. Joe wasted no time putting AJ Styles on notice confronting him about the WWE Championship on a recent edition of the show and while WWE was touring the U.K. Sky Sports spoke with Samoa Joe to grab his thoughts on AJ Styles. "I relish any chance to punch AJ Styles in the face." He said. "Because he’s a man I respect greatly, and I find that I wanna punch people in the face that I respect greatly." Joe continued, "Yeah similar, diverging paths, different places different times. But yeah I mean,..

Vinc Pichel Talks Gregor Gillespie Matchup & Says He's Happy for Ronda Rousey In WWE

Vinc Pichel is back in action and in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night Utica, where he faces Gregor Gillespie. Not only does Pichel plan on making a bigger name for himself with the big co-main event opportunity on June 1, but the fighter plans on doing so in spectacular fashion. “I’m gonna knock the son of a bitch out, I’m looking for a big KO man. I’m looking for a big bonus, I got cheated out of my bonus in New Zealand from Dan Hooker…that son of a bitch. I’m looking for a knockout bonus, I’m getting a lot of slack from this guy. People telling me ‘what are you gonna do? He’s a wrestler and he’s done this and he’s done that.’ I’m like who gives a f*ck what he’s done, he’s an NCAA champion, I don’t know how many times, but I’m like ‘this is an MMA fight man.’ A lot of people are doubting me in this fight and I cannot wait to make them eat their words, I’ve had friends tell me to pull out of this fight and I shouldn’t have taken this fight. I’m like ‘what the f*ck man and thanks ..

Roman Reigns Has Talked To The Usos About Forming A Team

Roman Reigns thinks teaming with the Usos would be cool. In an interview with Give Me Sport, Roman Reigns spoke about his cousins Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso. He said the Usos asked for more responsibility from WWE after feeling left behind and disrespected. He was also asked about teaming up with the Usos. "I’ve been around my cousins a long time. And for a while, we’ve been waiting for that. And I’ve had a lot of talks with them," said Reigns. Even though his cousins were able to ask the WWE for a bigger role and changed their characters, Reigns said he wanted to do things his way. But he admitted it would be cool to represent his family with the Usos. “And I’m excited not only to see where they go but also where I go. You never know, the story is there, it's easy. We all represent the same bloodline, we all represent the same family, so it would be pretty cool maybe one day if...if there was a Samoan Shield," said Reigns. Also during the interview, Reigns talked about poten..

OFF THE TRACKS WITH SRS: Stokely Hathaway Tries To Cut Matt Riddle's Hair, Gets Fingers Broken Instead -- BUT WHY?

Welcome to OFF THE TRACKS WITH SRS. The article I write on slow news days and shamelessly steal Alex Pawlowski's theme, because he's better established the series than I. Today we look at Stokely Hathaway's latest attempt to thwart his arch nemesis Matt Riddle. Was it jealousy? Greed? Anger? What was Big Stoke's motivation in trying to commit this crime? I have a theory: *** It hasn't been a loaded week of wrestling news. However, Stokely Hathaway looked to change that. While at this weekend's EVOLVE shows, manager extraordinaire Stokely Hathaway posted a photo indicating that he would cut Matt Riddle's signature locks if he managed to get to 500 retweets. See exhibit A below. 500 RTs and I’ll cut homeboy’s hair tomorrow. I’m serious. pic.twitter.com/GxFpbuzWhS — Stokely Hathaway (@StokelyHathaway) May 20, 2018 Stokely ended up working himself into a shoot, as the tweet got the minimum required retweets during Sunday's show. When Hathaway a..

Report: WWE Reaches Deal With Fox To Air Smackdown In 2019, Worth $1 Billion, Maybe Moving To Fridays

Smackdown may have a new home next year. As reported by ESPN, Fox and WWE have reached a "massive" deal to air Smackdown. WWE has been looking for a new network to air both Smackdown and Raw and there had been talks of bringing both to NBC but according to the report NBC Universal is focused on Monday Night Raw. Even though ratings for Smackdown have been declining since the Superstar Shakeup, WWE programming is nearly always in the top five cable original shows year round on Monday and Tuesdays. The live aspect and sports related nature of Smackdown has helped support those ratings and is only pushed down the rankings by live sports playoffs. The report said the Smackdown deal is set to begin in October of 2019. In another report by The Wrap, it was said Smackdown would be broadcast on Fridays and on Fox instead of the rumored Fox Sports. That was hardly the last of the news, as The Hollywood Reporter would later report that the deal in question was a five-year agreement wor..

Mackenzie Dern Also Gave Amanda Cooper 15% Of Her Win Bonus

Mackenzie Dern missed weight by seven pounds for her bout against Amanda Cooper at UFC 224, a miss that caused the fighter to be fined 30% of her fight purse. The Brazilian won the bout via first round submission and got a win bonus as a result, but 15% of that also went to the defeated Cooper. “I’m not surprised. She got 30 percent of the purse, which was my penalty — usually it’s only 20 percent, but because I was so much heavier it went up to 30 percent,” Dern said on The MMA Hour. “I think she was confident in the fight. I think she thought she was going to win and everything. If I was confident and I was getting 30 percent and we were giving her an extra 15 percent too — if I won I would give her 15 percent of the bonus extra too — I would have accepted the fight too. I was hoping she would. I was really grateful she accepted the fight,” After all the craziness surrounding the missed weight at UFC 224, one thing Dern is promising is that she won’t be missing weight anymore. “..

Breaking: SmackDown Live Moving To FOX In 2019 And Changing Nights

Meet the new home, same as the old home. Over the last few weeks, one of the biggest stories has been the upcoming changes to the WWE television home. While it seems that Monday Night Raw is going to be sticking around in its same time slot thanks to a major deal with NBC Universal, SmackDown Live was up in the air. Now though, we seem to know where it’s landing. According to ESPN, SmackDown Live will be moving to FOX (the main network rather than FOX Sports 1) in October 2019. While no specifics have been confirmed, the Hollywood Reporter reports that the deal is worth over $1 billion over five years. It should also be noted that according to The Wrap, SmackDown Live will be moving to Friday nights. Neither WWE nor Fox commented on the deal, which has yet to be publicly announced. Since they’re changing networks, make sure to remember the times they were together. [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is a long way off, but good night this is a major deal. To air..

Video: Top Ten Wall Busters

Are you ok? Because you just got thrown through a wall. In wrestling, you can see people having all sorts of horrible things done to them. It might be a suplex, a right hand, or some kind of complicated hold. Other things require something a little bit more basic though, like throwing them through something rather hard. Like, say, a wall. It makes for quite the power display, or at worst looks rather devastating. WWE thinks so too and we’re hitting the countdown as a result. These things always look good. [This post contains video, click to play] WWE has released a new Top Ten video, looking at the greatest Wall Busters in history. Most of these are from modern WWE and several of them involve people going through the LED wall on the stage, but the list also goes to other promotions. It also sees various moments of people being put through walls backstage, many of which involve someone throwing someone much smaller through in a huge crash. The list was inspired..

The couple, who was scheduled to be married earlier this month, broke up instead and drama has ensued ever since. The story began to take different paths every day with one bit of breaking news after another. It seems possible that the two could get back together, which would start with the two being in the same place. As it turns out, that seems to have started. There are other signs that this might be working. Check out some hints here. According to the New York Daily News, Cena and Bella were seen together for the first time since their engagement ended, getting some coffee on Saturday in San Diego. While the two split up just a few weeks ago, Cena has since changed his mind and said that he wants to marry Bella. At the same time though, Bella has said she’s not completely done but needs more time to make sense of everything. What’s WWE’s take ..

How Is Ronda Rousey’s Ego Backstage In WWE?

That sounds like a good reputation to me. Ronda Rousey was once the most dangerous woman in the world and the most dominant woman in UFC history. Now she’s come to WWE and brings a lot of star power with her. However, with that star power, there comes the chance that you might find yourself to be a bigger star than everyone else around you. Rousey come into wrestling as a lifelong fan, but does she have the same problems with star power as others may have had? What will Rousey be doing on screen soon? Check here to find out. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rousey has had no issues with star power whatsoever. She has been described as “100%” tremendous and having no issues. Rousey is even seen as humble given how big of a star she was before she came into the company and has no issues with her ego. It’s been an issue before with other major sports names who come into the company and see it as beneath them due to their status but it’s not happening in Rousey’s case. Her..

Rumor Killer On Big Cass Injury Reports

Another one bites the dust. The selling of an injury is a dying art in wrestling. While the selling done during the matches themselves isn’t bad, there’s a forgotten aspect to the whole thing: selling the injuries after the match is over. Leaving out the idea of looking and acting injured on the streets, there’s the concept of not just getting out of the ring and walking to the back like nothing happens. It’s rare enough these days that just seeing it happen can still fool the fans, which seems to be the case on the European tour. In case you need something a bit lighter involving wrestling, check this out. According to NoDQ.com, Big Cass was seen limping after a recent match in Amsterdam. This video, which can be seen below, isn’t the best sign as Big Cass is freshly back from a torn ACL that kept him out of action for over six months. However, a new report from Wrestlinginc.com says that this has been the case for every match on the tour as Big Cass is selling the injuries from Dani..

WWE Has Reportedly Lost Interest In Entire Tag Team Division

According to Ringside News, WWE may be completely losing interest in their entire tag team division. This applies to both Raw and SmackDown Live. Mike Johnson indicated on PWInsider Elite Radio that the company may not really care about the division anymore, given the lackluster angles as of late. Here is what he had to say: “I think they have decided that nobody involved in the tag division is worth their time and they’re not going to invest into it because they don’t think it makes them any money. And That’s that.” Whether this is true or not remains to be seen, but there are definitely signs to suggest it is how WWE feels right now. Tag teams have been thrown together on Raw, while on SmackDown Live there is barely any action involving the current tag teams beyond the storyline with The New Day and The Bar. Ringside News notes that this can also be explained by teams getting wins and taking a multitude of losses afterward. They also claim a number of storylines and angles have h..

USA Network May Not Want To Continue With WWE At All

According to an article by Ringside News, the USA Network may not want to continue working with WWE in any capacity moving forward. As we’ve heard, SmackDown Live is expected to move to another Network or social media site moving forward. USA Network does not want to continue paying for both Raw and SmackDown Live. To add to this speculation, Raw has not signed on for a new deal yet with the USA Network. It appears that the Network could be in search of a new professional wrestling property to air. This appears to be due to the cost of having WWE programming on their Network. From what we hear, the new deal would be worth a lot more than the current one they have. Dave Meltzer commented on this matter on the Wrestling Observer Radio. He believes that the USA Network has no real big shows to draw ratings besides WWE programming. If WWE were to leave their Network, they would lose a lot. They could have the mindset of taking a chance with a smaller wrestling company, paying them less..

Here Is Why SAnitY Haven’t Debuted on SmackDown Live Yet

Ringside News has an article up to explain why SmackDown Live stable SAnitY hasn’t made their debut on the blue brand yet. SAnitY SAnitY was announced to be getting their call-up from NXT during the Superstar Shake-Up the week after WrestleMania 34. Over a month on and we will haven’t seen them debut for the blue brand. So why is that? Bryan Alvarez spoke briefly during Wrestling Observer Live about why the faction has likely not made their debut yet. Here is what he had to say: “I’d like for them to be there soon. But they did the Superstar Shake-Up and a lot of names came up so it’s better to slowly bring some of them in instead of just throwing them all on tv at the same time and having people lost in the shuffle like Bobby Lashley.” If that is the case, it is likely WWE is waiting to capitalize on the faction when the time is right. One idea we’ve seen that has been speculated as a possible debut feud against The Bludgeon Brothers. This comes as the SmackDown Tag Team Champions..

Matt Sydal Says Lucha Underground Is Modern Wrestling Society X

WWE, ROH, and NJPW veteran, and Impact Wrestling star Matt Sydal recently spoke to Wrestling Epicenter's Interactive Wrestling Radio. You can see highlights below, and the full interview at this link. Being X Division Champion: "I can tell you this about this belt. I'm attached to it. It's attached to me." Every wrestler now working what was considered the "X Division" Style in 2002: "Well, I think that if everybody is doing that style then there are a few people who truly embody it and everybody else is just an immitator. What you have is a bunch of people who will forever be my challengers and somebody like me who truly embodies the OG, the original stylings of the X Division. That's me. I am that man! Of course the X Division title found me. Yeah, the belt has been through a lot of incarnations. But, what it has is a lineage that you can stand behind. A lineage that you can believe in. A lineage that is what wrestling is today. I am NOT like any other wrestler...
