Mustafa Ali Stands Up Against Racist Fan On Twitter

205 Live Superstar Mustafa Ali has been open in the past about racism as he looks to change perceptions around the world. Now he is back at it on social media. Many people throughout the world perceive individuals a certain way based on the color of the skin or where they come from. This, as we know, is wrong, racist and an incorrect judge of character. Ali is a former Chicago police officer, a father and a man who fights for the respect of his peers and the WWE Universe each and every week. WWE tweeted out a clip showing Ali cutting a promo about building up 205 Live: Brick by brick. Night after night. @MustafaAliWWE holds NOTHING back in his quest to build up #205Live! pic.twitter.com/qZDXsCDzWu — WWE (@WWE) May 22, 2018 This prompted a racist fan to tweet at WWE, suggesting that Ali make bombs or shoot up schools since ‘they’re’ good at it: Just make some bombs or shoot some schools. Since y'all good at it — C.Green (@GreenVGC) May 22, 2018 There was a huge amount of back..

Real Reason Why WWE Will Cancel Brand Split Before SmackDown Moves to FOX

The most recent brand extension on WWE programming hasn’t even been around for two years, but there have already been rumors about it coming to an end. The company will make a lot of changes once SmackDown Live moves to FOX in 2019. It is now being reported by Sports Illustrated that the brand split will be one of the biggest changes. Justin Barrasso claims that FOX and NBCUniversal executives will want full access to WWE’s talent roster. On paper, that means WWE will need to end the brand split and make major changes to the product as a result. For instance, the WWE Universal Title could be abandoned and other adjustments will have to be made to both rosters. Related: Several Potential Changes As SmackDown Live Goes To FOX The company has already begun making major changes to its PPV events. It seems the powers that be are setting up for the end of the brand extension, but they still have an entire year to unite the two rosters and make any necessary changes to the product. At the..

Rumor: Major International Star Negotiating With WWE Again

Before the Mae Young Classic last year, a lot of potential names were rumored for the tournament. One of the biggest names was Io Shirai from Japan. Unfortunately, she was not available for the event and didn’t participate because of prior dates with Stardom. Despite not being able to compete in the tournament, there were still rumors about her signing with the company. However, it was reported that a heart issue during her pre-signing medical evaluation spooked WWE doctors and she was not signed as a result. Related: Why Did WWE Pass on Signing Top Japanese Star? It took some time, but it’s being reported by WrestlingNews.co that Io Shirai and WWE may be willing to resume negotiations to bring the Japanese superstar to the company like Asuka and Kairi Sane before her. Shirai recently dropped the Wonder of Stardom Title and a lot of people are taking that as a sign of a potential move to WWE very soon. Here’s a taste of what “Purple Thunder” is capable of doing inside the squared c..

KB’s Review: Money Money, Yeah Yeah

As wrestling fans, we have a very different way of looking at what wrestling companies do. While we’re all about looking at what happens on screen both now and in the future, there’s a completely different side to it that we rarely think about. That would be the business and money side of things, which is going to drive what we see on the television shows. Simply put, if something makes WWE (or any wrestling company for that matter) more money, odds are they’re going to run with it. Over the course of the last week, we’ve seen two very different stories of wrestling companies (or wrestlers in one case) making a bunch of money for vastly different reasons. Since the two groups are so different, I won’t bother trying to compare them because it’s really like trying to compare apples to mailboxes (Side note: why is it always apples to oranges? They’re not exactly polar opposites and can be swapped in and out pretty easily. If you want it to be something else, making it something very diffe..

Full Match: 2017 Men’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match

Go and climb the ladder. With less than four weeks to go before this year’s Money in the Bank, there isn’t much to talk about in the world of WWE. Other than the qualifying matches, the two weekly TV shows only have one or two noteworthy stories each. That leaves a long time to go before the pay per view and it makes me wonder how much interest there’s going to be. It would be a smart move to promote the upcoming big matches a bit and that’s what WWE has started doing. Here’s a full version of what you’ll be getting and since it’s Money in the Bank, you know there’s some cool stuff. [This post contains video, click to play] WWE has posted the full version of the men’s 2017 Money in the Bank ladder match from the show of the same name. The match featured Baron Corbin, AJ Styles, Dolph Ziggler, Shinsuke Nakamura, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vying for a shot at the briefcase, which could be cashed in at any time over the next year, for a WWE Championship match. The..

Mauro Ranallo Confirms The Truth Behind His SmackDown Live Departure

Before working for NXT as a commentator, Mauro Ranallo was the voice of SmackDown Live. According to Ringside News, there may be a different reason to what other websites have claimed. Ranallo left the company after working with SmackDown Live. Many outlets, including ourselves at one point, suggested based off what we had heard that Ranallo had possibly left due to JBL. Ranallo was on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani to promote the Showtime documentary he was the focus of, where he opened up about what truly happened. Check out what he had to say: “I was on the road every week. You add MMA and boxing and kickboxing to it. The road travel destroyed me. So, rumors and all this other stuff, what happened, honestly — and Ariel, you know how honest I’ve been in this thing — I had a breakdown in the Chicago O’Hare airport on my way to Pittsburgh to do SmackDown Live. And again, Frank Shamrock — God bless him — Bas Rutten, man. Guys who fought each other are my biggest supporters. But, I ha..

Here’s When Randy Orton Will Return to WWE Television

WWE’s Apex Predator has a lighter schedule than most wrestlers with the company, but the reason why you haven’t seen Randy Orton on SmackDown Live recently is due to an injury. It has been reported that Orton has undergone knee surgery for a meniscus tear. Apparently, The Viper has needed the surgery since last year. His body either could not wait any longer or WWE officials thought it was a good time for him to get healthy. The timetable for his return is at least three months, according to Pro Wrestling Unlimited. Related: Randy Orton Recovering From Knee Surgery On paper, that would put him as questionable for Summerslam in August. It’s possible WWE officials will implant him into a feud or a match for the event. The expectation is Orton won’t return to WWE programming until after the biggest party of the summer. Before his injury, The Viper was involved in the United States Title hunt. He was finally able to hold the championship for a brief time, but Orton didn’t have much mom..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – May 23, 2018

NXT Date: May 23, 2018 Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Percy Watson, Mauro Ranallo The build to Chicago is slowly taking form with Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch looking likely to challenge for the Tag Team Titles. Other than that, we really don’t have anything set up yet. That being said, NXT has an amazing track record of being able to catch up in a hurry so it’s not like they’re in any real trouble. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jonathan Coachman is in the front row. Heavy Machinery vs. TM61 Dozovic goes with the power to start and runs Thorn over with a shoulder, followed by a double shoulder to give Knight two. Everything breaks down for a few seconds with Miller being run over as well while Thorn is put in the Tree of Woe. That allows Miller to be driven into his partner’s ribs as this is one sided so far. A shot to the back cuts Knight off though and the fans stay completely behind Heavy Machinery. ..

SmackDown Live Ratings And Viewership – May 22, 2018

And down they go again. The Money in the Bank season hasn’t been kind to the WWE’s ratings and viewership numbers. No matter how you look at it, the fans just don’t seem interested in what WWE is offering. Really, it’s not that surprising given how none of this matters at the moment. So much of this is stuff that can be read up on in a recap and isn’t really must see TV. Tuesday’s SmackDown Live was full of more qualifying matches so did the trend continue? According to 411mania.com, this week’s episode of SmackDown Live drew a .68 rating in the 18-49 demographic rating and 2.195 million viewers. These numbers are down 3% and 5% respectively from last week’s .7 demographic rating and 2.298 million viewers respectively. Both are the lowest since Halloween of 2017 when the show drew a .65 demographic rating and 2.119 million viewers. The show was headlined by a match between Daniel Bryan and Jeff Hardy for the right to face Samoa Joe next week in a Money in the Bank qualifying match. Mi..

Cody Reveals Which Legacy Member He Was “Incredibly Jealous” Of

Cody [Rhodes] was a guest on Edge & Christian’s Podcast of Awesomeness where the former ROH Champion revealed which Legacy member he was incredibly jealous of during their time as a team. Cody opens up by explaining why Rey Mysterio means so much to him, recalling what the former WWE Champion had done for him: “I have a Wookiee life debt to Rey Mysterio and he doesn’t even know it. Rey was kind of the one who ribbed me and brought me into the office that day with Vince [McMahon] and said, ‘I want to work Cody at WrestleMania – he [has] got some good ideas.’ And I did, thank God. And that’s where I think Vince kind of even played me. He said, like, ‘oh, do you have it on paper?’ and I actually had it on paper in my bag and I handed it to him. And after that, he kind of just grumbled and I got a ‘yes’ out of that grumble. I owe Rey everything I have, man. He [doesn’t] even know. He [doesn’t] even spell my name right, C-O-D-E-Y. That’s got to be a rib.” The Bullet Club’s “American Nightm..

Did Daniel Bryan Feel Any Ring Rust After His Return To Competition?

Daniel Bryan recently spoke with the Sport Bible, where he discussed a number of topics. Among them were if he had any ‘ring rust’ upon being cleared to return to in-ring competition, making adjustments to his wrestling style, future opponents and more. Below are some highlights from the interview: On having any ‘ring rust’: “I honestly didn’t feel any ring rust. It was strange because the day I was cleared, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens attacked me and I did the running dropkicks – just dropkick, dropkick, dropkick. “You have to understand, I wasn’t prepared for this to happen. I’m wearing the shoes which I’m wearing now – which are from a thrift store and they’re a half size too big! I was wearing a sportscoat and I haven’t done the dropkick in the corner for three years – it’s a very exhausting thing to do because you’re sprinting, running, jumping and then kick. “I was a little bit concerned but that night I didn’t feel tired or anything, I was excited, it was fun. Same thing at Wr..

When Will The Miz’s New Show Debut On USA?

It had been previously reported that The Miz will be starring in a new reality show on the USA Network, entitled “Miz and Mrs.” The show will be a six-episode, half-hour series, that will feature the couple becoming parents for the first time. But, when will the show air? The A-Lister answered that question last night on Smackdown Live, saying that the show will premiere on Tuesday, July 24 at 10/9 C, immediately following Smackdown Live. You can see a clip of the announcement below: [This post contains video, click to play] The Miz and his wife, Maryse, welcomed their first child into the world, Monroe Sky Mizanin, on March 27 of this year. He is currently scheduled to compete in the upcoming Money In The Bank Ladder Match at the pay-per-view of the same name. Editor’s Opinion: I have to admit that I am very much looking forward to this mini-series. The Miz has been one of my favorite performers for a long time, and it will be neat to take a look into his personal life as a pa..

Enzo Amore Potentially Takes Dig At WWE For His Release

Enzo Amore was fired from WWE in January of this year due to being under investigation for rape allegations. Now that he has been cleared, he has returned to social media, potentially taking a dig at WWE for releasing him. When he was originally released from the company, it was noted that WWE made the decision after he refused to inform them about the investigation. When the investigation concluded, Amore’s attorney noted that the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion was not made aware of the claims until after it exploded onto social media. WWE usually wish their Superstars well in their future endeavors, but Amore was not one of those Superstars. This was likely due to the frustration that everything went public during Raw 25 and the severe nature of the claims by Amore’s accuser. Amore took to his Instagram account during a series of messages to reference the ‘future endeavors,’ explaining that it was the fans who cared about him and wished him luck in his future and trusted him wh..

How Much Do WWE Superstars Make At Each House Show?

Ringside News recently revealed how much money WWE Superstars make competing at each house show throughout the week. WWE Superstars are asked to pay their own road expenses. While this doesn’t add up to a lot of money, it still comes out of their paycheck. With the news that WWE signed SmackDown Live to FOX for $1 billion, many are asking if the paychecks for people on the roster will improve. Dave Meltzer commented on this very thing on Wrestling Observer Radio earlier this week. Here is what he had to say: “The way that they do things you are paid on the house. Which is ridiculous now. I mean it’s been ridiculous for 10 years. Yeah, I mean it’s completely ridiculous now. I mean the house is not the revenue stream.” “What percentage is fair for them to get? I mean I don’t know if 50% is fair I mean 8% sounds awful low to me and that’s what they’re getting. With this kind of money, it probably makes it down to 5% unless they get what they’re gonna get.” If SmackDown Live does go to..

What Happened Before And After SmackDown Live?

Double bonus. You can never guess what you might get for a dark match. It might be something fresh that you’ve never seen before, or it might be what I somehow got stuck with: Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Dolph Ziggler four times in a row (plus a house show). Sometimes though you get a good one to start and a big one to end the night, which can make the shows that much better. That seems to be the case this week. You can check out our full SmackDown Live results right here. According to Wrestlinginc.com, the pre-show dark match this week saw Carmella successfully defend the SmackDown Women’s Title against Becky Lynch with Carmella getting the pin via a rollup. Also according to Wrestlinginc.com, the post-205 Live dark match was AJ Styles successfully defending the WWE Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura. This match was a short one with the Bar running in for the disqualification. Anderson and Gallows made the save and posed with Styles to end the show. Styles and Nakamura did some import..

What Stipulation Did Shinsuke Nakamura Pick For His Match With AJ Styles?

Round five. It’s very rare anymore in wrestling to see a big feud go to five major matches. Fans just don’t have the patience to sit through something like that but every once in a while, it just might happen. That’s the case with Shinsuke Nakamura vs. AJ Styles for the SmackDown World Title and it’s about to pick up even more. Last week, Nakamura defeated Styles in a non-title match, earning the right to pick the stipulation for their next title match at Money in the Bank. Tonight, we found out what Nakamura had in mind. This week on SmackDown Live, Nakamura and Styles got in another brawl that left Styles laying after a chair shot and a Kinshasa knee strike to the head. With Styles down, Nakamura counted to ten and announced that he wanted the match to be a Last Man Standing match, which was confirmed later in the show. This is the fifth match between the two of them with Styles winning the first, two draws, and Nakamura winning the fourth to tie the series up again. It was a big fi..

SmackDown Tag Team Title Match Set For Money In The Bank

You can pad it out with some bludgeoning. Back at WrestleMania 34, the Bludgeon Brothers won the Smackdown Tag Team Titles in a triple threat match by defeating the defending Usos and fellow challenges the New Day. Since then the Brothers have defeated the Usos again, meaning it’s time for some fresh challengers. Those challengers were set up this week on SmackDown Live. On this week’s episode, Anderson and Gallows defeated the Usos to become the new #1 contenders for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles with their shot taking place at Money in the Bank next month. Anderson and Gallows are former Raw Tag Team Champions and were brought over to the SmackDown Live Roster in the Superstar Shakeup last month. This was the team’s first regular tag match as part of their new brand. Check out what Anderson and Gallows had to say after their big win. [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Works for me. At the end of the day you can only do the Bludgeon Brothers vs. the Usos so many ti..

Several Potential Changes As SmackDown Live Goes To FOX

SmackDown Live is officially heading to FOX in the future. We have compiled a number of changes that WWE is expected to make for the new Network. Some of the first announcements or rumors we’ve heard in regards to FOX taking SmackDown Live is that WWE will be adding an extra hour to the show, changing the air dates from Tuesdays to Fridays. If this is to be believed, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio discussed how WWE may be forced to deal with the changes during WrestleMania week. This is because WrestleMania week usually includes the PPV itself, NXT: TakeOver, Raw and the Hall of Fame. Here is what Meltzer had to say: “I wonder about the idea of a SmackDown Live on a Friday before WrestleMania. I guess you could do that as the go-home show Obviously the NXT [TakeOver] will move to Saturday and the Hall Of Fame would move to Thursday or Tuesday, I’m going to guess Thursday because if it’s on Tuesday everyone’s going to go home and it will die.” This would still be a pro..
