Impact Wrestling Taping Results From Monday Night *SPOILERS*

April 30, 2019 • Admin

Marching on together. With Rebellion done and Slammiversary about two and a half months away, it’s time for Impact Wrestling to get right back to their regular schedule and that means more episodes being taped. That was the case on Monday night, as the calendar turns towards the summer and their next pay per view. They’re coming off a very strong pay per view so hopefully things can keep going. Impact Wrestling taped a few weeks of television in Toronto, Ontario Canada on Monday night, including the fallout show from Rebellion. These shows will begin airing this Friday night and will deal with everything that took place on Sunday night, including Brian Cage’s back injury. There is always a possibility that some things were taped out of order. Here are the results, courtesy of Wrestlinginc.com: Xplosion: * Trey vs Jake Lander. Trey wins with a top rope double knee press. Nothing overly eventful. Impact: “Unbreakable” Micheal Elgin comes down to a big ovation. Elgin said it’s a time h..

A Long List To Get Through. Brian Cage Offers Injury Update, Will He Have To Drop The World Title?

April 30, 2019 • Admin

The champ isn’t doing so well. Impact Wrestling aired Rebellion on Sunday night with quite a strong show. There was a lot going on with the card, to the point where the World Title match didn’t even headline the show. While it didn’t go on last, the match included a moment that could change a lot of things going forward, and it isn’t even the way the match ended. During the World Title match between Brian Cage and Johnny Impact, Cage was injured by taking a Spanish Fly to the floor. Cage appeared on Busted Open Radio on Friday with an update on his condition. His injuries include a bone bruise, inflammation and a possible small fracture, though the injuries should heal over time. However, according to Wrestling Observer Radio, the timetable could result in Cage having to drop the title. Winning the title meant a lot to Cage. Check out this interview from before Sunday’s match: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Egads I hope they can hold off on this for the time be..

The Bug Bites Again. Top International Impact Wrestling Star Injured At Monday Tapings.

April 30, 2019 • Admin

That’s some very bad timing. Impact Wrestling is starting to put things together again as their influx of new talent is getting a lot better. That isn’t a knock on their old talent though, as some of their established names are more than worth a look. Some of them are even worthy of a main event push, which is what one of them seemed primed to receive. Then something bad happened. According to Ringsidenews.com, Pentagon Jr. may have injured his knee at Monday’s Impact Wrestling tapings. The injury took place during a match and Pentagon immediately received medical attention, with Impact Wrestling executive Don Callis checking on him as well. There is also the chance that this is a storyline injury, as Pentagon and his brother Fenix may be on their way out of the company due to their contracts with AEW. The match will air either this Friday or the following week. If he is injured, remember him when he was healthy. Check out Pentagon during his time as World Champion: [This post conta..

Monday Night Raw Results – April 29, 2019

April 30, 2019 • Admin

Monday Night Raw Date: April 29, 2019 Location: Rupp Arena, Lexington, Kentucky Commentators: Michael Cole, Renee Young, Corey Graves It’s a homecoming show for me as Rupp Arena hasn’t hosted a Raw since 2010, which was the first Raw there since 2000. Since I live ten minutes from the arena, it was rather nice to not have such a long drive home. Now the problem with that is it was a long show, but that’s Raw for you. Let’s get to it. Here’s Alexa Bliss to announce the men’s Money in the Bank participants. After explaining the concept for the uninitiated, here are the participants: Braun Strowman, Ricochet (Kentucky boy), Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin (Bliss: “He is the former acting General Manager of Monday Night Raw. Former Golden Gloves….you know I’m not going to list the rest of his accolades. It’s Baron Corbin.”). Baron wastes no time in insulting the fans by promising to become a two time contract winner. Ricochet: “Or is that two time loser?” The insults abound, with McIntyr..

REVIEW: WWWF Heavyweight Wrestling – January 6, 1966:

April 30, 2019 • Admin

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? WWWF Heavyweight Wrestling Date: January 6, 1966 Location: National Arena, Washington D.C. Commentator: Ray Morgan To give you an idea of how old this is, when this aired my wife’s mother hadn’t been born yet, the original World Tag Team Titles were about six years away, and Vince McMahon was twenty years old. This is by far the oldest show I’ve ever reviewed and I have absolutely no idea what to expect from it. This is a completely different era and the ratings are going to be a little bit lighter be..

Jeff Hardy Injured Over The Weekend At WWE Live Event

April 23, 2019 • Admin

Flying leaps can take their toll. According to a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Jeff Hardy was injured at a Live Event over the weekend. Jeff, along with his brother Matt, were taking on the Usos on Saturday evening, when the injury occurred. Dave Meltzer reported that Hardy appeared to have suffered some sort of leg injury. This was evident at Sunday’s SmackDown Live Event in Rochester, Minnesota, as Jeff was in Matt’s corner and was said to be “limping significantly.” At the show, Matt defeated Jimmy Uso. Furthermore, at Monday’s Live Event in Sioux City, Iowa, Matt Hardy teamed with R-Truth to defeat Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. The Hardy Boyz are just entering their 8th reign as WWE Tag Team Champions. You can see their victory below: [This post contains video, click to play] We will continue to monitor this story and provide any updates as they become available to us. Editor’s Thoughts: This sucks. The Hardys are getting older, and any injury that they sust..

Rumor: 2019 Men’s Money In The Bank Winner Will Be Pushed Heavily

April 23, 2019 • Admin

This is only a rumor, so take it for what it’s worth. According to a tweet from WrestleVotes, there has been a strong push from within the WWE creative team to have this year’s men’s Money In The Bank winner coming out of the whole process looking like a star. The feeling backstage is that for the past two years, the winners and cash-in attempts on the briefcase have failed miserably. Strong push within the creative team to really have this years men’s Money In The Bank winner coming out of the whole process looking like a STAR. The feeling backstage is that they have completely blown the winners & cash ins the last 2 years. — WrestleVotes (@WrestleVotes) April 22, 2019 Check out what happened the last time a briefcase was cashed in: [This post contains video, click to play] It should be noted that Braun Strowman won the 2018 men’s match and cashed in on Roman Reigns, who was the Universal Champion at the time. However, the match ended in a No Contest due to interference from Br..

Video: It’s Different. Check Out Bray Wyatt’s Creepy New Character (You Won’t See This Coming).

April 23, 2019 • Admin

Wrestling is a weird place. In most versions of entertainment, someone leaving a show or production results in them being replaced by a new actor. That’s not the case in wrestling though, as wrestlers often change gimmicks and are presented as new characters. Some of these aren’t that big of a deal, but other times see them go in a very different direction which jars the fans. That was the case this week. This week on Monday Night Raw, Bray Wyatt made his official return after a six month absence in a drastically different gimmick. Wyatt is now hosting a children’s program called Firefly Fun House, which appears similar to Pee Wee’s Playhouse. Wyatt mentioned his previous persona and cut up a cardboard cutout of himself with a saw. It was also confirmed that the puppet and doll from recent weeks were his friends. You need to see this one for yourself. Check out Wyatt’s new world: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is one of those things where I have no idea wh..

Raw Women’s Championship Match Set For Money In The Bank 2019

April 23, 2019 • Admin

The Man vs. The Woman. Tonight on Raw, it was announced that Raw and Smackdown Live Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch, will defend the Raw title against Lacey Evans at Money In The Bank 2019. You can see a clip of an encounter between the two from Raw below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: Lynch stood tall against incredible odds at WrestleMania, overcoming Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair to capture both titles in a Triple Threat Winner Take All Match. Since the moment she stepped off The Grandest Stage of Them All, Becky Two Belts has been well aware of the two large targets on her back and is ready to take on all comers; she didn’t have to wait long to find her next challenge. After strutting up and down the entrance ramp for weeks, the bold Evans decided to make her move when she encountered the newly-crowed titleholder. During an episode of Raw, The Sassy Southern Belle turned in from her walk without warning and suddenly clocked Lynch in the jaw with the..

Samoa Joe Officially Shows Up On Monday Night Raw

April 23, 2019 • Admin

It had been previously rumored that Samoa Joe would be leaving Smackdown Live and bringing the United States Championship with him to Raw. This is due to the fact that Intercontinental Champion Finn Balor was drafted to the blue brand in the 2019 Superstar Shakeup. This rumor proved to be true, as the Samoan Submission Machine officially made his debut on Raw during the first segment of tonight’s show. Check out a clip from his match below: [This post contains video, click to play] Joe would compete against Rey Mysterio and AJ Styles in a Triple Threat match, with the winner earning the right to face Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship at Money In The Bank 2019. He would lose that match, however, and Styles would eventually go on to become the new No. 1 contender for Rollins’ championship. Editor’s Opinion: No surprises here, as both shows need a mid-card champion. That being said, there is potential for some great feuds for the United States championship. I can’t wait...

Who Will Face Seth Rollins at Money In The Bank 2019?

April 23, 2019 • Admin

Time to burn it down. And burn it down they will. Tonight on Raw, a series of matches took place, in order to determine who would be facing Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship at the 2019 Money In The Bank pay-per-view. To begin, Triple H announced that two Triple Threat matches would take place, with the winners facing each other in the main event of Raw. The winner of that match would advance to Money In The Bank to take on the Beastslayer. In the first match, AJ Styles defeated Rey Mysterio and United States champion Samoa Joe in a battle of former Smackdown Live stars. The second match saw Baron Corbin defeat The Miz and Drew McIntyre. At the end of the night, it would be Styles hitting Corbin with the Phenomenal Forearm to earn the right to battle Rollins for the Universal Championship at Money In The Bank. Below is a clip from tonight’s action: [This post contains video, click to play] Editor’s Opinion: While this is not surprising, this should make for an amazin..

Who Are You Again? Three Name Changes Announced On Monday Night Raw.

April 23, 2019 • Admin

Can we get some name tags? Last week on Monday Night Raw, the NXT Tag Team Champions the War Raiders made their main roster debut, but things had changed a bit. They were now called the Viking Experience and were individually known as Erik and Ivar. To say the names weren’t well received would be an understatement, but this time WWE has changed things up a bit. A week after debuting as the Viking Experience, the team has now been renamed the Viking Raiders, with the individual names remaining. During their attack on the Lucha House Party, the team’s pop up powerbomb was called the Viking Experience. That wasn’t the only name change on the show though, as Bobby Roode is now known as Robert Roode, which he wrestled under in Impact Wrestling. Meet the mustache. Check out Roode’s new image: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: You know it says a lot when WWE admits that one of their ideas didn’t work. That’s the case with the Raiders, whose new name was such a disaster t..

The Red Keeps Growing. Another SmackDown Live Name Moves To Monday Night Raw, Tag Team’s Future Unclear

April 23, 2019 • Admin

One more for the red guys. Last week’s Superstar Shakeup seems to be all wrapped up, meaning the only time that the roster can make changes has come to an end. That’s the case, assuming WWE remembers that they can write the rules however they like. With that being the case, WWE can change the roster up whenever they feel like it, which they seem to have done tonight. This week on Monday Night Raw, Cesaro appeared on the show and was announced as a member of the roster, defeating Cedric Alexander. There is no word on what this means for the Bar with Cesaro’s partner Sheamus not appearing with him. At the moment, Sheamus is out of action with an injury, meaning it isn’t clear which show he will be on whenever he is medically cleared. It wasn’t that long ago. Check out Cesaro on SmackDown Live last week: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I’ll go with cautiously optimistic here as there is no reason to believe that this Cesaro singles push will work any better than th..

The Big Boss Said So. Why Were Andrade And Zelina Vega Moved Back To SmackDown Live So Soon?

April 23, 2019 • Admin

You do as the boss tells you. With WrestleMania and the Superstar Shakeup now over, it’s time to get on to other things. That includes the fallout from the big events, which means we’re starting to see how the new rosters look. It turns out that some of the changes from last week have been changed back, and now we know that there were some higher forces at work. According to PWInsider by way of 411mania.com, the FOX Network wanted Zelina Vega and Andrade on the SmackDown Live roster before the show moves over to FOX in October. FOX is wanting to focus on Latino stars as they want to be able to promote SmackDown Live on FOX Deportes, the Spanish language channel. The move also included Vega’s husband Aleister Black moving as well. The men certainly know each other. Check out one of their many matches together: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: It makes sense and with the amount of money that FOX is throwing at WWE, they’re going to do whatever FOX wants them to do...

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – April 22, 2019

April 22, 2019 • Admin

Monday Night Raw Date: April 22, 2019 Location: Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines, Iowa Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Renee Young It’s kind of a new world around here as we have the first show with all the new talent brought over in the Superstar Shakeup. That could be a good or a bad thing, but given how many changes they’ve managed to make since the Shakeup took place, your guess is as good as mine about what they’re doing here. Let’s get to it. Tonight it’s a pair of triple threat matches with the winners facing off later in the night for the #1 contendership to the Universal Title. Here’s HHH to open things up but before he can say anything, Universal Champion Seth Rollins (the hometown boy) joins him. We get a quick hug before Rollins gets to soak in the cheers. Rollins talks about everything he’s been through in recent weeks, including stomping Brock Lesnar’s bucket head three times at Wrestlemania. HHH seems impressed but we pause for a BURN IT DOWN chant. The landsc..

The New Plans. Venue Announces Updated Extreme Rules Lineup After Superstar Shakeup, Universal Title Match Included

April 22, 2019 • Admin

It’s never too early to start planning ahead. Things are very different in WWE after last week’s Superstar Shakeup. The rosters have been switched around quite a bit and it’s not clear where things are going to be going in the next few weeks as people start to find their new footing. What might be clear though is where things are going in about three months on a certain night. The website of the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia is advertising three matches for the July 14 Extreme Rules pay per view. Now listed for the show are AJ Styles vs. Drew McIntyre, Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton and Seth Rollins defending the Universal Championship against Baron Corbin. These early cards are of course subject to change. The venue had already announced matches for the show but these now reflect the reset rosters. Could this set up a title match? Check out Rollins yelling at Corbin last year: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised as WWE is going to push ..

Hang On A Second. WWE Moves Wrestlers Back To Original Show After Superstar Shakeup.

April 22, 2019 • Admin

Not so fast? Last week WWE ran the Superstar Shakeup with names moving from show to show, with Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live’s rosters receiving some facelifts. These were long overdue and it was a good idea to make some of the changes. As it turns out though, WWE wasn’t entirely done with the changes, including some of those that were made during the shows. According to PWInsider by way of 411mania.com, Andrade, Zelina Vega and Aleister Black have all been moved over to SmackDown Live after coming to Monday Night Raw last week. Andrade and Vega moved over from SmackDown Live while Black was officially named to the roster. Black’s partner Ricochet did not move over with him. The move is better for the trio’s personal lives, as Black and Vega are married and Andrade’s girlfriend Charlotte is on SmackDown Live. Last week was a big debut for Andrade. Check out his only match as part of the Monday Night Raw roster: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Well ok then...

See You Down The Road. Another Legendary Wrestler Set To Retire This Summer.

April 22, 2019 • Admin

Another legend hangs them up. Contrary to popular belief, wrestlers are like all other athletes. Their careers start, they have their glory run (some go longer than others) and then at some point, they all retire for one reason or another. For the best of all time, it’s a sad day for the fans and now another name is ready to walk away from the ring after a long career. According to New Japan Pro Wrestling, Riki Choshu, 67, will have his retirement match on June 26 in Korakuen Hall. The match will be a six man tag with Choshu teaming with Shiro Koshinaka and Tomohiro Ishii against Tatsumi Fujinami, Keiji Muto and Togi Makabe. Choshu debuted in 1974 and had his first retirement match on January 4, 1998. He is also credited with inventing the Sharpshooter. In case you’re not familiar. Check out Choshu in his prime against Ric Flair: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This one might not mean as much to some fans but Choshu really is a legend in his own time. To wrestle..

The gold rush has ended. It had been previously reported that Cody Rhodes will be facing his brother, Dustin, aka Goldust, at AEW’s debut event, Double or Nothing. When Did Sasha Banks Find Out That She Was Dropping The Tag Titles?

April 18, 2019 • Admin

Information is good to have. It had been previously reported that Sasha Banks tried to quit WWE recently, due to her being very unhappy with her position in the company. However, new information may reveal that her feelings are justified. According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the decision to have her and Bayley lose the Women’s Tag Team Championships to The IIconics at WrestleMania 35 was not a last minute decision and many people in the company knew about it. However, Banks & Bayley were not told until the day of the show. They were also told at the time that the company was going to spilt them up as a tag team. The combination of them not getting the title run that they expected to establish the championships as meaningful, along with splitting up their team so quickly, caused both of them to be upset. While, Bayley was upset but didn’t quit, Banks was given a few weeks off for her to cool down and have the opportunity to work things out. Things were..
