Bobby Lashley made his Impact Wrestling (then TNA Wrestling) debut in 2009 but was released from the company in January of the following year. According to Eric Bischoff (then an Impact Wrestling executive) during his 83 Weeks podcast, Lashley was let go from the promotion due to Lashley’s then girlfriend, former WWE star Krystal Marshall, causing issues backstage. Bischoff did not tell Lashley that was the reason, instead saying that the company was going to let him go. Lashley would return to Impact Wrestling from 2014-2018, where he became a four time World Champion.

Opinion: This is one of those situations that is a rather tricky one, as you don’t want to hurt your own company either way. Lashley was quite the asset, but at the same time, it sounds like Marshall was a bit of the opposite. Bischoff seemed to think that it made more sense to let everyone move on and maybe that is what was best for the people involved, as Lashley wound up doing ok for himself in the end.
