Talk is Jericho Recap w/ Sheamus & Cesaro – Best-of-7 Series, Tagging Together, WWE Travel Woes, More!

Jericho welcomes Sheamus & Cesaro to the show.

Jericho asks how their Best-of-7 series came to be. Sheamus says that prior to the WWE Draft, he was World Champion as part of the League of Nations and Cesaro had returned from an injury on absolute fire. Somewhere along the way they both lost some momentum, and at the Draft they were selected second last and last.

Cesaro says that he was quite angry that evening and Sheamus agrees. They felt that they should have been drafted higher, and they were both very motivated to prove doubters wrong. The company decided to pair them up for a couple of matches, and after that Mick Foley told them they’d be doing a best of 7 series.

Sheamus says that they kicked the shi* out of each other in every one of those matches, and he recalls one uppercut in particular from Cesaro when he actually felt his jaw move. Jericho says that as the series progressed every match got better and better, and Sheamus agrees. They capped off the series with a double count-out in the 7th match.

Bad News Regarding Former Tough Enough Competitor Matt Cappotelli’s Health

It was reported a few weeks ago that former WWE Tough Enough Talent, Matt Cappotelli’s brain cancer had returned after 10 years. Matt took to his Facebook page to provide yet another update on his health and the news isn’t good.

Here’s what Cappotelli wrote:

“Diagnosis is in.

I have a grade IV GlioBlastoma Multiforme (GBM).

This is not the news I was looking forward to hearing or sharing, but it will in no way deter me from continuing my fight. Spinal tap this Friday will determine if the cancer cells have spread to my spinal fluid. Monday is a follow up with my team of doctors to determine the treatment steps needed to beat this. Thanx to everyone on #TEAMCAPP”

Everyone at Ringside News prays for the well-being of Matt.

Bad Sign for WWE Battleground

It looks like ticket sales aren’t too hot for the upcoming SmackDown brand pay-per-view event, WWE Battleground.

Ticket sales for the event are said to be very disappointing, despite Philadelphia being one of WWE’s strongest markets. Tickets are reportedly being discounted with $20 off most seats.

Matt Hardy Threatens Anthem Sports — “Things Will Get Nasty”

Matt Hardy took to Twitter to respond to a fan question about the legal situation between The Hardy Boyz and Anthem Sports. This time around Hardy threatened to expose the company and mentioned that things would “get nasty” if they don’t wrap up the deal.

For those not following the story, The Hardy Boyz have been trying to work out a deal with Anthem Sports so that they can bring their “BROKEN” gimmick to WWE. Things between the two haven’t been exactly smooth between everyone involved.

Speculation on the Main Event for SummerSlam

Coming out of Monday’s RAW, there is speculation that the main event for next month’s SummerSlam will see Brock Lesnar defending his WWE Universal Title against Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman in a Fatal 4-Way match.

Dave Meltzer discussed the possibility of the match being a 3-way for the championship on Monday’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio, however those those plans may change. The belief is that Braun will make an appearance on next week’s RAW during the #1 contendership for the Universal Title match between Joe and Roman. This will play into storyline and setup the 4-Way at SummerSlam.

One of the reasons WWE would want setup a multi-persons match is because it would allow them to have an “out” for either Lesnar or Roman. Basically, Lesnar wouldn’t have to pin Roman and Roman wouldn’t have to pin Lesnar with other competitors in the match.

The Ross Report Recap w/ Lita & Madusa – Great Balls of Fire Analysis, Strowman is WWE’s ‘Next Big Thing’, Mae Young Classic, More!

Ross thought that Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar had a great match at last Sunday’s Great Balls of Fire event.  He thought the match was believable at every turn, and Joe actually had the majority of the offence during the bout. He liked the story that both men told, and he didn’t have a problem with the finish of the match at all.

Some fans were aggravated by the fact that it only took one F5 to defeat Joe, and this is a tale of the times in Ross’ opinion. Fans have become accustomed to wrestlers kicking out of each other’s finishing moves, and he thinks that’s a problem for the wrestling business. A wrestler’s ‘finisher’ is supposed to ‘finish’ the match, and he believes that apart from big events like WrestleMania, finishing moves should be protected.

He admits that the outcome of the match was somewhat predictable with Lesnar winning but he thinks there will be a rematch at some point down the road, maybe as soon as SummerSlam if Joe is able to defeat Roman Reigns on RAW next week.

Ross thinks that Braun Strowman has a chance to be the ‘next big thing’ in WWE. After seeing Strowman walk away from that crash at Great Balls of Fire, Ross feels it’s hard to root against him, even if he’s supposed to be a heel. Strowman is a powerful, believable character who Ross thinks fans can get behind. He says that Strowman is the type of performer that you build a company around.

Bischoff on Wrestling Recap – Dixie Carter in WWE, Paige/Del Rio Drama, Samoa Joe vs. Brock Lesnar, More!

Bischoff is joined on today’s show by his co-host Nick Hausman.

Hausman asks Bischoff for his opinion on seeing Dixie Carter on WWE programming this Monday night. Bischoff says that Kurt Angle, and his return to WWE is a big story within that company right now, and Carter was obviously a big part of Angle’s post-WWE career. It didn’t surprise Bischoff to see Carter on Angle’s documentary at all, because there was never really any animosity between WWE and TNA.

In terms of Angle’s current mystery storyline on RAW right now, Bischoff says that he knows exactly what’s going on there. He says that WWE is simply copying the Clair/A.J. Styles angle from TNA a few years back. He says that all signs point to Dixie Carter being the person on the other end of Angle’s phone, and we might see her on RAW soon.

Bischoff says that if Carter is actually going to be a character on WWE programming, he hopes that there are a whole new batch of Producers ready to focus on getting Carter through her segments. He says that it would often take her an entire day to prepare for a 2-minute segment in TNA because she’s simply not a talented performer.
