Brock Lesnar Says He’d Fight Jon Jones — Anytime! Anywhere!
During a Facebook Live chat, UFC Fighter Jon Jones was asked about possibly having a fight against Brock Lesnar sometime down the line. Jones responded, “It would be a massive draw, really big for the sport.”
He continued, “It would be a great challenge. [He’s] a big old boy. I doubt Brock Lesnar would take that fight, though. I definitely wouldn’t try to wrestle with him the whole time. I’m not going to tell you what I would do.”
Jones also spoke to BT sports and made similar remarks when asked about a possible fight against the current WWE Universal Champion. You can check it out in the video embedded below:
Greg Beacham of The Associated Press reached out to Lesnar about Jones’ comments and Lesnar responded, “Would I fight Jon Jones? Anytime. Anywhere. Right now he should be worried about [Cormier] on Saturday night.”
How To Book Darren Young Upon His Return
Darren Young is set to make his return to the company really soon. You all remember Darren Young right? He was one half of The Prime Time Players with Titus O’Neil, which I thought was one great tag team. Although he isn’t the greatest wrestler, he isn’t half bad either. We last saw him as a student of Bob Backlund, working hard and doing things the right way. He injured his elbow back in January and has been off our television screens ever since.
With a return nearing, one has to wonder how Young should be booked and portrayed in his return. It doesn’t make sense to pair him back with Backlund, but he could be used in another form.
Young is on the Raw brand, which is loaded with star studded talent. To get television time there, you have to do something impressive and shocking at the same time. Do something that draws ratings and garners attention for yourself. For Young to do that, he must turn on and destroy Bob Backlund.
It sounds harsh and inhumane in a way, but it makes perfect sense. Backlund is a sixty-seven year old man who isn’t physically the same as he was back in his prime. He may can defend himself, but not like a thirty-three year old Darren Young could. Young turning on Backlund would make the crowd feel uncomfortable, sad, and even disgusted at the sight before their eyes. So how should he do it?
Start out with Young making a surprise return to Monday Night Raw with Backlund by his side. They can do the skit where Backlund proclaims he’s going to make Darren Young great again. This is when Young turns on Backlund, hitting him with heavy shots and kicks. Young grabs a chair and hits Backlund across the back. As the crowd stares at the motionless body of Backlund, they will also see the sinister grin on Young’s face. A new heel is born, one with nothing to lose.
Young’s success after that moment determines how he performs in the ring and cut promos. Start him off against a Heath Slater or a Rhyno, a low-card babyface that can help put someone over. Eventually this will lead up to him getting a shot at the Intercontinental Championship. It may be puzzling, but if Young can put in the work then he definitely deserves a shot at the Intercontinental Championship.
Jinder Mahal winning the WWE Championship has opened the door for so many others. Mahal went from jobber to champ in a blink of an eye. If he can do it, then Young has the chance to do it too. Just put in the time and the work, then anything is possible.
Darren Young has had his fair share of success within the company. He is a former Tag Team Champion and knows what it’s like to perform in big time matches. The ability is there, he just needs the opportunity. Attacking his mentor could create just the perfect opportunity. Young as a heel will be a little fresh thing to help keep the fans interested and may get the notice of the powers that be. I wish Young all the best during his return to the WWE.
Jinder Mahal Reveals He Was Shy Talking In Front of People
WWE Champion Jinder Mahal recently had an interview with NBC News, where he talked about his personal life, how he was shy talking in front of people and how he was made fun of for wearing a turban when he was young. Mahal told NBC how he prepared himself by training, gave attention to his diet, to get ready for the opportunity.
“I’m very down to earth, quiet. I’m kind of a homebody. I have a little dog. She keeps me company,” Mahal told NBC. “I just like to train and diet and get my rest so my body can recover so I can wrestle.”
“It’s an entertainment industry, and I know you have to turn up the volume, which I’m now comfortable doing,” he added. ”At first I was very shy to talk into the mic and to talk in front of people.”
Mahal became the 50th WWE Champion by defeating Randy Orton two months ago at Backlash. Soon after becoming the champion, Mahal has gone on to ask the WWE Universe to denounce racism.
“People would always make fun of me,” he said. “But it’s important to always stay true to yourself and not let that get to you.”
“Our fans there are very passionate,” he added. “WWE Universe India is one of our most special places. … I’m very proud of my heritage and hope to make everybody proud.”
Mahal said that he wants to make an impact on the youth. Mahal is a part of WWE’s Be A STAR anti-bullying campaign and Make-A-Wish Foundation. He plans to set up a wrestling school, and help the community.
“I was fortunate enough to have great trainers growing up,” Dhesi said. “I just want to give the youth the same opportunities that I had. I want to pass it forward. Often the kids are neglected and they find themselves getting into trouble.”

UFC Rep Denies Reports of Brock Lesnar Being Enrolled In USADA Testing Pool
Jeff Novitzky, the UFC Vice President of Athlete Health and Performance, is denying reports that current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar has re-entered the USADA drug testing pool. Novitzky said there is “zero truth” to the reports and issued the following statement to MMAJunkie:
“[Lesnar] is not currently enrolled in the USADA testing pool, nor has there been any inquiry on his part to do so.”
MMAjunkie noted that their attempt to reach USADA for comment was unsuccessful. We will keep you updated if we hear anything new regarding Lesnar possibly returning to the UFC.
WWE SmackDown Live Results – July 18 2017
Welcome to our SmackDown Live results, less than a week away from WWE Battleground!
WWE Champion Jinder Mahal brings the Punjabi Prison structure to SmackDown Live! It’s been a decade since we’ve had a Punjabi Prison match in WWE, so I’m curious to see if the structure itself will have changed at all. It’s unclear what Mahal will do with the Prison but Randy Orton is scheduled to return on tonight’s SmackDown!
The main event for tonight’s SmackDown Live gives us a preview to two of Battleground’s biggest matches as AJ Styles teams with Shinsuke Nakamura to face Kevin Owens and Baron Corbin. SmackDown Live has unfortunately been featuring quite a few tag matches recently, which always feels like lazy booking, but I expect these four guys to put on a heck of a match. Sparks should fly between the combatants as Owens faces Styles for the US Championship in less than a week, and Corbin also faces Nakamura at the PPV.
We get a big in-ring debut on tonight’s SmackDown Live, which sees Mike Kanellis take on Sami Zayn. For weeks Sami has unintentionally crashed the romance between Mike and Maria Kanellis, which led to Mike finally bursting last week and smashing a glass over Sami’s head. I figured this match would be kept until Battleground but we’re getting it tonight, which will probably end in a no contest or some form of screwy finish that leads to a Battleground rematch.
And finally, The Fashion Police will take one step closer to finding out who was behind their attacks, and John Cena is set for a sit-down interview ahead of his Flag Match with Rusev! Are you excited for the show? Let us know on the free Ringside News and Ringside Talk apps, and enjoy the show!
