Location: BT Studios, London, England
Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Andy Shepherd
Believe it or not we have a bit of a special episode here, which will feature the Walter vs. Ilja Dragunov rematch from Takeover, albeit with some additional insight, which sounds like talking heads throughout. Other than that, the tournament to crown a new #1 contender to the Heritage Cup continues. Let’s get to it.
We open with a quick preview for the show.
Opening sequence.
Heritage Cup #1 Contenders Tournament First Round: Sam Gradwell vs. Wolfgang Gradwell doesn’t think Wolfgang is much about heritage and calls him a deep fried yogurt. Round one begins with both of them taking their time, including Wolfgang scaring him into the corner. A test of strength goes to Wolfgang and he takes Gradwell down by the wrist. Wolfgang shoulders him out to the floor but they switch places and Gradwell nails a running elbow off the apron to put Wolfgang down. The count is beaten t..

Ring Of Honor TV Results – September 8, 2021

Ring of Honor
Date: September 8, 2021
Location: UMBC Event Center, Baltimore, Maryland
Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Lenny Leonard
It’s time to set up the finals of the Women’s Title tournament, which has gone from rather interesting to lacking star power outside of Angelina Love. Ring of Honor is going to need to do something special to make this work and they might be able to pull it off. At the same time, Death Before Dishonor could use some serious building. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Quinn McKay welcomes us to the show and runs down the card.
Trish Adora is ready to beat Miranda Alize.
Miranda Alize is ready to beat Trish Adora.
Women’s Title Tournament Semifinals: Trish Adora vs. Miranda Alize Adora shoves her down to start and Alize bails to the floor for a quick breather. Back in and Adora grabs a quick Cattle Mutilation to crank on both arms at once. That doesn’t last long as Alize flips out and kicks her in the ribs to take over. Some rights and lefts have Adora ..

WWE Officially Signs Gold Medal Winning Wrestler To Unique Contract

He’s a special one. Back in 1999, a wrestler named Kurt Angle debuted for the WWF. This was one of the most important signings the company has ever seen, as he was the first ever Olympic Gold Medal winner in professional wrestling history. That is not something that comes around every day and it did not come around again for twenty years. Now things have changed.
According to ESPN.com, Olympic Gold Medal winning wrestler Gable Steveson has signed an NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) contract with WWE. This comes after rumors of such a signing and after Steveson made an appearance at Summerslam last month. Steveson’s contract is unique as he is allowed to defend his NCAA championship at the University of Minnesota. WWE will set up a special training facility near the university so Steveson can train with the company’s coaching staff. Once Steveson graduates in May, he will begin his regular WWE contract.

AEW Dynamite Defeats Monday Night Raw In Important Category

That’s a big one. The wrestling world has been changed in a huge way thanks to the arrival of AEW on the big stage. For the first time in over twenty years, WWE has some top level competition with money, star power and a platform. AEW Dynamite has become one of the most important wrestling shows every single week and now they have done something that is rather impressive.
According to Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston, this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite defeated Monday Night Raw in the 18-49 demographic with a .526 rating and 681,000 viewers to a .523 rating and 679,000 viewers. Dynamite as a whole drew 1.319 million viewers for the second largest audience in the show’s history. This week’s show featured the fall out from All Out, including the Dynamite debuts of Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole, plus Minoru Suzuki vs. Jon Moxley.
AEW Dynamite last night on TNT was watched by 1,319,000 viewers on average, the second-highest in the history of the show.
681,000 were aged 18 to 49, a 0.53 ..

WWE Has Given Kevin Owens Some Special Privileges

That’s quite the honor. A good in-ring performer is a great thing to have in wrestling but a great talker is even better. It means everything in wrestling to have someone who can get out there and get a story across with their talking abilities. You know them when you see it, though you might not get to see them very often in WWE. The company does have them though, and one has some special privileges.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Kevin Owens is allowed to say just about whatever he wants in WWE and is one of the least scripted wrestlers in the company. Owens is allowed to say what he thinks as he has earned the company’s confidence in his speaking abilities. This comes as Owens’ WWE contract is set to expire at the end of January and his future in the company is not clear.
Owens can talk. Check out what he can say when given the chance:

AEW May Be Planning A Special Gimmick Match

That’s something they could do. There have been gimmicks and stipulations attached to wrestling matches for years and that will continue to be the case for a very long time to come. The idea makes a lot of sense: raise the stakes for a match and let the people involved feel like they are fighting for something personal. We might be on the way to another big one in AEW.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW is moving towards a hair vs. hair match between Matt Hardy and Orange Cassidy. Both have spoken about trying to cut the other’s hair with little success. There is no date on when the match will take place, though either Grand Slam on September 22 or Full Gear on November 13 are possibilities. This would be the first hair vs. hair match in AEW history.
The two have met before. Check out how we got here and what the loser might be in for:

MJF’s Promo On AEW Dynamite Sent A Woman Into Labor (And It Gets Better)

That’s a new one. While the name of the game is wrestling, talking is a lot more important than what goes on inside the ropes. Without talking and charisma, it can be rather difficult to get the fans to care. There are some incredible talkers in the sport today and you can see a lot of them every single week. That was the case this week as well, but I don’t think you’ve ever seen this result.
This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured a Maxwell Jacob Friedman in-ring promo. During his promo, Friedman talked to a pregnant woman in the crowd, who revealed herself to be Brian Pillman Jr.’s sister. Pillman Jr. eventually came down to face off with Friedman to end the segment. The following day, Pillman Jr. revealed that his sister began having contractions due to the promo and will be giving birth later this week. On top of that, there is a chance that Pillman Jr. and his soon to be born nephew will share a birthday. Pillman Jr. is scheduled to face Friedman at Grand Slam on September 2..

WWE Adds Main Event Title Match To Extreme Rules

We have another match. WWE will present Extreme Rules in less than three weeks and that means it is time to really get the card in gear. There are all kinds of things that still need to be set up for the show and that can make things a little more complicated in a hurry. WWE has already set up some of the matches for the show and now they have checked off another big box.
WWE has announced that Universal Champion Roman Reigns will defend his title against Finn Balor at Extreme Rules. This comes after Reigns successfully defended the title against Balor last week on SmackDown, albeit with the help of a low blow. Following the match, the start of Balor’s Demon theme played as well, hinting at the return of the Demon. WWE has not mentioned the Demon whatsoever.
This could be awesome. Check out how we got here plus what might be waiting on Reigns:

WWE Had Interesting Plans For Adam Cole On The Main Roster

That was their plan? There have been a lot of moves on the WWE roster in recent months and those seem likely to continue in the future. Some of these are bigger than others as a few of them have seen big names moving away. In some cases that has been from NXT, which has quite a talented roster in its own right. Now we know what might have happened had one of the moves not taken place.
Former NXT Champion Adam Cole made his AEW debut last Sunday at All Out. Other than a few cameo appearances, Cole never made a full time WWE main roster debut. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, there had been plans made to bring him up to the main roster, though not as a full time wrestler. The plan would have seen Keith Lee turn heel with Cole as his manager, albeit under a different name due to Michael Cole being on SmackDown. The pairing would have been similar to Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush with the monster protecting the loud mouthed manager. It is unclear how much Cole knew of these plans.

RUMOR: Dates Set For Upcoming Special WWE Events

Mark your calendars. We are closing in on the end of the year and there is a lot left on the WWE schedule. AEW Dynamite Results – September 8, 2021

Dynamite
Date: September 8, 2021
Location: Fifth Third Arena, Cincinnati, Ohio
Commentators: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Taz
We’re in for a special one this week as it is the All Out fallout show, which will feature a bunch of wrestlers making their Dynamite debuts, or at least making a special appearance. The next major show is Grand Slam in two weeks and that is going to require some building up. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
All Out recap video.
Dustin Rhodes vs. Malakai Black Dustin is fighting for his family/multiple stable mates who have been taken out by Black. They start fast with Dustin hammering him into the corner and snapping off a German suplex out of said corner. Dustin takes it to the floor and keeps pounding but Black drops him hard through a table to put him in trouble. The referee goes to check on him so Black takes off a turnbuckle pad. Back in and Black knees him in the ribs before grabbing a chinlock. Black switches over to a kneebar but Dustin gets over to ..

REVIEW: Impact Wrestling vs. Lucha Underground: It Must Be Someone’s Dream Shot

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Impact Wrestling vs. Lucha Underground
Date: April 6, 2018
Location: Sugar Mill, New Orleans, Louisiana
Attendance: 1,400
Commentators: Josh Matthews, Matt Striker
Now this is something that caught my eye as soon as it popped onto the schedule. Lucha Underground doesn’t get a lot of play outside of its own universe so having it come somewhere else could be interesting. On top of that, given how many of its wrestlers wrestle for Impact as well, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Just please be more like Lucha Undergroun..
