Impact Wrestling Ratings And Viewership – June 7, 2018

So they’re better than WWE at the moment. The numbers for Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live have been terrible as of late and there’s really not much of another way to describe them. People just aren’t watching the shows, but what about Impact Wrestling? The show has been getting better (or at least less bad) and last week’s show was rather good. Last week was a major night for the company with a new World Champion being crowned, but the question becomes how well did the following week’s show do. Make sure to check out last night’s full results right here. According to 411mania.com, this week’s episode of Impact Wrestling drew a .07 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 289,000 viewers. These numbers are up 16% and 5% from last week’s .06 demographic rating and 283,000 viewers. The audience is the best since the May 17 show drew 329,000 viewers. This week’s show was headlined by an unsanctioned street fight in the woods between Eddie Edwards and Sami Callihan. Miss last night’s show?..

Rumor: John Cena Causing Major Problems Between Daniel Bryan and WWE

Last week, it was reported that Daniel Bryan was asking for a “reasonable amount of creative control” in his new contract with WWE. The latest update claims WWE officials have offered him a three years extension, but Bryan hasn’t signed a new deal just yet. According to a report from DirtySheets, John Cena could be causing some major issues between Bryan and WWE officials. Apparently, Cena advised him to hire ICM Partners to negotiate his contract extension with the company. ICM Partners are telling Bryan to begin negotiations asking for as much as possible before re-signing with the company. Related: Daniel Bryan Asking For Major Stipulation in New WWE Contract The expectation for Bryan is the extension will be his final deal with WWE. As a result, he’s looking to get a lot more money and perks, especially since he had to fight for over two years just to get back into the ring. More importantly, WWE officials know Bryan has options outside of the company and could wrestle anywhere ..

Main Event Results – June 7, 2018

Main Event Date: June 7, 2018 Location: Toyota Center, Houston, Texas Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Percy Watson, Vic Joseph I’m actually more interested than usual in this show based on how different this week’s television shows went. Monday Night Raw was such a disaster while Smackdown was a perfectly watchable wrestling show. I’m not sure how they’re going to pull off a highlight show when almost nothing interesting was going on Monday but they’ve pulled off something similar before. Let’s get to it. Here are last week’s results if you need a recap. Opening sequence. No Way Jose vs. Mike Kanellis They fight over a lockup to start and Jose scores with a hiptoss. Some forearms in the corner have Jose in trouble and we hit the chinlock. Back up and Kanellis takes way too much time yelling at the conga line and Jose is back up with a clothesline. A superkick gives Kanellis too (with a blown kiss) but Jose’s pop up right hand is good for the pin at 5:11. Resul..

Here’s When Rey Mysterio Could Return to WWE Programming

The WWE Universe was pleasantly surprised to see Rey Mysterio return to WWE for the 2018 Royal Rumble Match. A lot of people were disappointed his appearance was only a one-off. Shortly afterward, he returned to wrestle for New Japan Pro Wrestling and will be ‘All In’ this September. However, there’s still a chance Mysterio will return to WWE. Wrestling Observer Live has reported that WWE officials are talking with Rey about his return to the company. There’s some speculation that he could be for Summerslam in August. Dave Meltzer claims that Mysterio’s schedule is full through the summer, so it’s more likely he could return to the company in September after he’s ‘All In’ in Chicago. Related: Rey Mysterio Reveals What The Latin Talent In WWE Are Lacking Something could be worked out, but it seems WWE officials want to lock Mysterio down for a long-term deal. It would only be on a part-time basis, but having Rey back inside a WWE ring on a regular basis should greatly help the compan..

Major Update Regarding John Cena’s WWE Return Revealed

Over the past few weeks, John Cena has been in the news for his recent break-up with Nikki Bella. It’s been reported that the couple is reunited, but their private life has been the focus as of late for Cena and there hasn’t been a lot of news about his WWE return. He’s gone on record to say that he’s not done with the company, but he hasn’t been seen on WWE programming since being dominated by The Undertaker at WrestleMania. The WWE Universe isn’t expecting him until Summerslam, but he may be back a bit earlier. Related: John Cena: “I’m Far From Done With The WWE.” According to a report from RingSideNews, the sixteen-time WWE Champion is currently filming the final touches on Bumblebee, a spin-off of the Transformers series, and then it seems his schedule is open for a return to WWE television before Money in the Bank. Nothing is confirmed because Cena could have another movie to film, or he might need some time to tend to his personal life. However, it’s plausible for him to retu..

Here’s Why WWE Officials Refuse to Push Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan’s in-ring return elated the WWE Universe, but some fans are disappointed with his booking. There’s a good chance he’ll qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match tonight on SmackDown Live. Fans love getting to see Bryan wrestle AJ Styles and Samoa Joe inside a WWE ring. However, some people believe he should be doing more. According to RingSideNews, the former WWE Champion still has not signed a new deal with the company. As a result, WWE officials are keeping his plans tentative until that changes. Despite overwhelming popularity, Bryan will remain stuck in WWE’s midcard. Related: Could Daniel Bryan Be Intending To Leave WWE This Year? The two sides still have three months to negotiate and sign a new contract. However, a lot of fans are upset that WWE officials are wasting the momentum from his return. It was a return three years in the making, but Daniel Bryan’s health is still a huge concern. On paper, the WWE Universe wants Bryan to be the WWE Champion. However..

Here’s Why Vince McMahon Has Lost Interest in Bobby Roode

During his time on SmackDown Live, Bobby Roode became a babyface and eventually won the United States Championship. The WWE Universe was expecting more from him with WWE, but his move to Raw after WrestleMania 34 seemed to be another chance. He’s set to participate in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, but no one is expecting him to win the briefcase. It seems that his fans should not expect anything bigger and better from Roode in the future. Apparently, Vince McMahon has lost interest in him. Related: Bobby Roode Comments On The Popularity Of His ‘Glorious’ Entrance According to a rumor from DirtySheets, Vince McMahon was unimpressed during his time on SmackDown Live. During his feud with Dolph Ziggler, The Boss compared the crowd response to his entrance to The Show Off’s. That was enough for McMahon to make up his mind about him and Roode has yet to change Vince’s mind about him. It doesn’t help that Roode is a natural heel. He’s been playing a babyface since debuting on the m..

Roman Reigns Responsible For Recent Rise of Independent Wrestling

For the past four years, WWE officials have been promoting Roman Reigns as the top babyface in the company. He’s main evented the last four WrestleMania events, but he is still routinely booed out of arenas on a regular basis. That’s why some fans are very unhappy and don’t believe he deserves his position in the company and on WWE TV. His critics are too busy criticizing how he continuously impacts WWE programming in a negative way to realize the positive effect he has on the industry as a whole. According to RingSideNews, Reigns might be responsible for the growth of the independent scenes. Related: Roman Reigns Doesn’t Care If You Boo Him And Neither Does WWE One of the common complaints is WWE doing what is best for the company and not for the fans. That’s allowed more wrestling fans to get their wrestling elsewhere and more independent promotions and shows are willing to give their consumer what they want because they don’t have to deal with sponsors or certain restrictions lik..

Official SmackDown Live Preview – May 29, 2018

They’re running out of spots. WWE isn’t in the best place at the moment as everything has been about Money in the Bank. With less than three weeks left to go before the pay per view, there is one spot left in both namesake matches. That will be decided this week on SmackDown Live, but we need more than one big main event. Some emphasis on some of the other matches would be a good idea, but that’s easier said than done. How is WWE trying get it done? WWE.com has released its official preview for this week’s episode of SmackDown Live. Enzo Amore Expresses His Rage In New Music Video

It would appear that you shouldn’t upset the realest guy in the room. Former WWE superstar Enzo Amore has released a music video for his new rap song, “Phoenix.” Amore, who is now going by the rap name “Real1,” has included a few lyrics that are taking shots at the woman who accused him of rape earlier this year. You can take a look at the rap video below: [This post contains video, click to play] Below are some highlights from the video (h/t to Pro Wrestling Sheet for the transcription): The video begins with a wrestling fan arguing with his mother from the basement during the “25th anniversary of sports entertainment.” He then gets a breaking news alert and rushes to his computer — obviously in reference to Amore being sent home from WWE before Raw 25. Some noteworthy lyrics include: “They cry tears of joy at my funeral. Still I rise from the ashes like a phoenix. Middle finger to the sky grippin’ my …. consensual penis. Lyin’ ass hoe out in Phoenix. When I say that shit I mea..

Finn Balor comes out to say he never lost the Universal Title and nothing is stopping him from winning it back. Last week, he gave everything..

CM Punk’s Trial Causing Major Problems For UFC Return

When CM Punk appeared on Colt Cabana’s “Art of Wrestling” podcast to give his side of the story regarding his WWE departure, he ruffled a lot of feathers. WWE doctor Chris Amann filed a lawsuit against Punk and Cabana and the suit is actually going to trial. Unfortunately for Punk, this is horrible timing. At UFC 225, he’s set to have his second fight inside The Octagon against Michael Jackson. After his defeat against Mickey Gall, he’s trying to bounce back against Jackson and having a trial on his mind is a problem. Related: Major Update Regarding CM Punk’s Status For ‘All In’ Dave Meltzer brought up the point on Wrestling Observer Radio that having the trial is obviously a mental distraction before a fight. However, the real problem is he could be stuck in court when he’s supposed to be training for The Octagon. It’s even more of a challenge to keep up with a training regiment when he needs to be in court for days. CM Punk is going to have an interesting couple of weeks. There w..

Video: Greatest Last Man Standing Match Knockouts

Count em out. One of the most brutal stipulations in wrestling is the last man standing match. This match is built almost entirely on violence as two people fight to keep the other one down for a ten count. Anything goes in these matches and that means various forms of violence are not only allowed, but also encouraged. Over the years, wrestlers have taken advantage of this idea with some very creative violence. Sounds like a countdown to me. They just keep getting bigger and bigger. [This post contains video, click to play] WWE has posted a new Top Ten video looking at the Greatest Last Man Standing Match Knockouts. This match has been around for a very long time now and the history in this list goes back nearly twenty years. Some of these are more creative than violent but at the same time, several are just pure carnage that makes you wonder how the people are still alive, let alone supposed to answer a ten count. While some are a bit repetitive, the top ent..

Video: Kenny Omega And Xavier Woods In A Commercial Together

When worlds collide. Wrestlers are a weird breed as so much of their time is devoted to their jobs that it seems almost impossible for them to do anything else. Every now and then you’ll see something in there though, such as Xavier Woods’ Up Up Down Down YouTube gaming channel. He’s not the only gaming nut in wrestling though, as Kenny Omega is known for his obsession with gaming as well. So what would happen when these two collide, at least in gaming form? Well, at least one of them appears on screen. [This post contains video, click to play] In a new trailer for the Street Fighter V, both Omega and Woods appear, with Omega portraying protagonist Cody Travers and Woods being heard as a voice who calls him on the phone. Omega is the live action version of the character, which then moves into footage of the game itself. Woods doesn’t actually appear in person in the commercial but his voice is very clear. Omega appears again after the footage is over. This isn..

WWE Ranks Every Money In The Bank Cash-In

It’s like ranking robberies. Back in 2005, Chris Jericho came up with an idea called Money in the Bank, where a ladder match would be held for a briefcase. That briefcase would contain a contract that could be cashed in for a World Title shot at any time, even when another title match was going on. This became a game changer and still is all these years later. With that much history, a retrospective sounds appropriate. How did this list go eleven months ago? Check out WWE’s other countdown. [This post contains video, click to play] WWE has released a countdown of all nineteen Money in the Bank cash-ins throughout history, starting from the first in 2006 and ending with the most recent in April of this year. The cash-ins have been put in order based on the victor, who they beat for the title and the context in which they cashed in their contract. As you might guess, the losses are lower on the list than the victors. Here’s WWE’s list: 19. Baron Corbin – 2017 18. John Cena – 2012 17...

By their powers sometimes combined. Back in 2012, the Shield debuted and immediately took the wrestling world by storm, turning into one of the most dominant factions WWE has ever seen. [This post contains video, click to play] This July, WWE is releasing a new DVD based on the Shield. Video: Top Five In Arena NXT Debuts

Well hello there. While there are a lot of nice things about NXT, one of the best things is the talent that is coming through that curtain. It’s a lot of fun to guess who might be the newest big name signee, but it’s even more fun to actually see them in person making the big surprise debut. Sometimes we know in advance, but sometimes they come from out of nowhere for the shock of the night. That sounds like it’s time for a flashback. Did your favorite make the list? [This post contains video, click to play] WWE has released a new Top Five video, looking at the five greatest in-arena debuts for NXT names. As you might guess, these are big names in NXT, whose debuts are treated like major deals. Since NXT isn’t really that old, most of these are from the last few years. Several of these names were already big stars when they debuted, which made their appearances that much more important as they already had reputations. Opinion: The top spot on the list makes se..

WWE Canceled Major Plans For The Undertaker Before Match With John Cena

After weeks of being called out by John Cena, The Undertaker returned and dominated him at WrestleMania 34 in a squash match. It was not what the WWE Universe had in mind for their match, but that wasn’t what WWE officials had originally planned either. The action inside the ring went down exactly how it was intended, but the powers that be had other plans for The Deadman’s entrance. According to a report from DirtySheets, the original plan was to have the classic Undertaker entrance for only thirty seconds. Related: The Undertaker vs. John Cena: WWE Turns the Corner at WrestleMania After entering the Superdome with his normal theatrics, The Undertaker would have pulled an American flag out of his cloak. Kid Rock would have taken the stage and The Deadman would have finished his entrance to his “American Bad Ass” theme song. Those plans were scrapped during the weekend after Kid Rock’s Hall of Fame speech included some controversial political views. The company didn’t want to make ..
