What Was Originally Planned For Daniel Bryan At WrestleMania 35?

Back from the drawing board. Last Tuesday, after several weeks of almost there and not quite yet, Kofi Kingston earned his WWE Championship match with Daniel Bryan for WrestleMania 35. This ends a several weeks long chase for Kingston, which all started when Mustafa Ali was injured and left out of the Elimination Chamber. Since this wasn’t the original plan, what did WWE have in mind for Bryan at WrestleMania? According to Wrestlingnews.com by way of Ringsidenews.com, the original plans for Fastlane called for Bryan to face and defeat Ali for the title, setting up the returning Kevin Owens as his WrestleMania 35 opponent. Instead, Owens was brought back early and Bryan faced both of them in a triple threat match at Fastlane. At the moment, Owens is not scheduled for a match at WrestleMania. They had a heck of a match. Check out the triple threat from Fastlane: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: It was certainly something to see with all three guys beating the heck ..

It’s About Time. Final Inductee Announced For The 2019 Hall Of Fame Class.

Time for the struttin and the cuttin. It’s the go home week for WrestleMania 35 and we don’t have many more things to take care of. Well save for the Raw Tag Team Title match, the SmackDown Tag Team Title match, whatever else they have planned for the Raw Women’s Title match and probably multiple other things. As of today though, we don’t have anyone left to announce for the Hall of Fame Class of 2019. WWE.com has announced that Brutus the Barber Beefcake will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Saturday night. Beefcake has been rumored to be inducted for several weeks and was spoiled by an announcement on a New York City radio station last week. Beefcake was a one time World Tag Team Champion and was scheduled to win the Intercontinental Title before having his face destroyed in a parasailing accident in 1990. There is no word on who will be inducting him. Beefcake was better than you might remember. Check out one of his biggest matches at WrestleMania VI: [This post contains vide..

Watch: John Oliver Slams Vince McMahon As “Billionaire On The Broken Backs” Of His Non-Employees”; Rallies Fans Ahead Of WrestleMania

I guess not everyone is a fan. There’s no real argument against WWE being the biggest wrestling company in the world. That has been the case for the better part of thirty five years (save for a few years in the mid 1990s). With dominance like that, you can imagine that the company has a bit of control that other companies aren’t going to be able to maintain. As it turns out, there are some major issues that go along with this. These is a lot of stuff here and it doesn’t look great. Check out the full segment from last night’s show: [This post contains video, click to play] WWE was the focus of a segment on Last Week Tonight With John Oliver on Sunday. The main point of the segment was on WWE’s lack of caring for its employees, with a major focus on its lack of benefits to the wrestlers, such as healthcare, due to the wrestlers officially being independent contractors. This included an explanation of the definition of an independent contractor according to the IRS, which says that a..

One More Adjustment. WWE Likely Making Big Change To WrestleMania Main Event.

Just in case we needed something else. Last week saw one of the biggest stories in wrestling in a very long time as the Raw Women’s Title match was announced as the main event of WrestleMania 35. Then things got a little bit more complicated when Charlotte, who is challenging for the title became SmackDown Women’s Champion the next day. As you might have guessed, this was going to lead to a change of the WrestleMania match, and now we might know the details. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, this week’s Monday Night Raw could see a change in the WrestleMania main event, with the match being turned into a Winner Take All match. This is a change from the middle of the week, when the idea was to have whoever won the fall win the title of whichever champion they defeated, though now it seems that the winner will be leaving with both titles. The official status is likely to be addressed on Monday Night Raw. It’s what set things up. Check out the title change from Smac..

Really Cool Video: WrestleMania By The Numbers

I always love this thing. No event in wrestling has the kind of history that WrestleMania holds. We’re coming up on the thirty fifth edition, which is going to be one of the biggest (certainly longest) of all time. There are other big shows throughout WWE’s history, including the Royal Rumble, which gets an annual history package based on the show’s numbers. Now it’s time for WrestleMania to follow suit. This is very cool. Check out WrestleMania By The Numbers: [This post contains video, click to play] WWE has released a video called WrestleMania By The Numbers, looking back at the show’s history with a series of numbers, including attendance, win/losses and appearances. The list includes entries from individual shows as well as over time. There is one number that is changed, with King Kong Bundy’s alleged eight second victory over SD Jones at the first WrestleMania being switched to a much more accurate twenty four second victory instead. Opinion: I could watch this kind of thing..

Someone Else Isn’t Happy With Their Status In WWE (And You Can’t Blame Him)

We might have another one. It seems that we can’t go a week without having someone being unhappy with WWE and wanting to leave. A year ago that wouldn’t have been a very big deal, but with the rise of AEW and other promotions, there is suddenly a lot more reason to believe that someone who wants out may actually get out. We now have our latest candidate. Tyler Breeze sent out a series of Tweets on Sunday, seemingly venting frustration about being stuck on Main Event instead of being a regular performer on Monday Night Raw or SmackDown Live. Breeze also talked to a fan, saying that a push like the one received by Jinder Mahal isn’t likely for him and also speaking to a referee, saying Breeze will see him tomorrow at Main Event. Breeze has performed regularly on Main Event this year with his last match on Monday Night Raw coming on December 28, 2018 in a battle royal. Eventually you say No Thank you I’m worth more…. — Prince Pretty (@MmmGorgeous) March 31, 2019 Is that what happens? ..

So Nice They Make It Bigger. SmackDown Live May Be Split Up During The Move To FOX.

Just like big brother. With WrestleMania 35 being just a week away, a story that has been flying underneath the radar is the impending move of SmackDown Live to FOX. The move is only about six months from now and it’s clear that the show is going to become a bigger deal. As it turns out, there might be so much of the new show that one network isn’t enough to contain it all. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, there is a chance that SmackDown Live could be expanded to three hours, with the first two hours on the show taking place on FOX with a third hour moving over to FOX Sports 1. If this is the case, WWE could make more money from FOX for the additional material. There is no word on what this would mean for 205 Live, which airs after SmackDown Live. With SmackDown moving, it deserves a look back. Check out the all time best moments: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I mean, I can’t say I’d be surprised at this as you knew they weren’t going to..

Rumor: Even More Matches Being Added To WrestleMania Card This Week.

It’s not over! I don’t know how many more ways I can come up with to say how many matches are going to be on the WrestleMania 35 card. There is a very good chance that the show is going to break the record for the most matches at a single WrestleMania with more matches being added to the card even with so little time left to go before the show. As it turns out, we might be seeing even more. According to Postwrestling.com, there is a chance that both the Raw Tag Team Titles and SmackDown Tag Team Titles could also be defended on the show. There is no word on who would be challenging for either set of titles, but there is a chance that one set of titles could have changed hands before the show. According to WWE.com, the Revival is set to defend the Raw Tag Team Titles against Ricochet and Aleister Black on this week’s Monday Night Raw. They’ve tried this before. Check out Black and Ricochet getting a shot at the titles earlier this month: [This post contains video, click to play] Op..

Video: Woo Yeah! Ric Flair Is Selling Coffee And Pizza.

He’s still got it. If there’s one thing that Ric Flair can do, it’s be one of the most entertaining and charismatic wrestlers in history. Even at 70 years old, he’s still able to go out there and make you care about him, no matter what he’s doing. That makes him a rather marketable guy in the right circumstances, as it’s hard to ignore someone in a big feathery rope shouting WOO. That’s the case again. Flair is featured in a pair of new commercials for Cumberland Farms stores, featuring a lot of WOOing. The commercials are rather short and show Flair in his robe shouting WOO over and over inside the convenience store, with one of the ads offering a set of subtitles to translate whatever that is supposed to be. At the moment these are the only ads for Flair, though there is always a chance to see more of them in the future. These are nice and to the point. Check out what Flair has to sell: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion..

Hold Your Horses. Rumor Killer On Possible WrestleMania Ending.

Not so fast? Earlier this week, the SmackDown women’s division, the SmackDown Women’s Title and the main event of WrestleMania 35 (for the Raw Women’s Title) all took a major turn when Charlotte defeated Asuka for the SmackDown Women’s Title. It’s not clear what this is going to mean yet for WrestleMania, but one rumored event seems to not be the case anymore. According to Dave Meltzer on F4WOnline.com by way of 411mania.com, there is no truth to the rumor that WWE is planning to have the Four Horsewomen of NXT pose to end the show. The four (Bayley, Sasha Banks, Charlotte and Becky Lynch) could all leave the show with titles, though there are currently no plans to have them recreate their pose from Takeover: Brooklyn in 2015. However, Meltzer does mention that Vince McMahon could change his mind all over again. So this isn’t happening. Check out the original pose: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is a rather big relief as there was almost reason to have thi..

What Were The Original Plans For Kevin Owens’ Return And What Is Next For Him? The Answers Might Surprise You.

You mean they didn’t think it through? Remember last month when Kevin Owens returned to WWE and had a pay per view title match? Remember that match being awesome? Now do you remember Owens doing anything other than hosting an episode of the Kevin Owens Show since then? It’s almost like Owens was brought back up too soon and it’s become a problem. So what has been going on? According to Mike Johnson on PW Insider Elite Audio, the original plans were to bring Owens back up on either the Monday Night Raw or SmackDown Live after WrestleMania 35. This obviously did not happen and Owens was brought back to television in a hurry with no plans for him. At the moment, Owens has nothing scheduled for WrestleMania and has only wrestled in a tag match since his title match at Fastlane. Owens certainly hasn’t lost a step. Check out him talking as only he can: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is modern WWE as only they can make it happen. You have an outstanding talent li..

Main Event Results – March 28, 2019

Main Event Date: March 28, 2019 Location: TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts Commentators: Percy Watson, Byron Saxton, Renee Young We’re long since in the home stretch towards Wrestlemania and that means we have a lot of recapping to do. I’m not sure what the point is in having these original matches when there is more stuff that could be done, but why mess with what….well I guess it’s worked somewhat over the rest of the year. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. EC3 vs. Tyler Breeze Breeze has gotten a haircut and hits a dropkick into an early chinlock. That’s reversed into a seated full nelson which is reversed with a jawbreaker as Renee seems to approve of EC3’s physique. There’s the EC3 Elbow but a powerbomb is countered into a superkick for two. Breeze’s hurricanrana gets the same but it’s the 1%er for the pin on Breeze at 4:48. Result: EC3 b. Tyler Breeze – 1%er (4:48) We look at the announcement of the Raw Women’s Title match main eventing Wrestlemania. From Smackdown. Smack..

Impact Wrestling Results – March 29, 2019

Impact Wrestling Date: March 29, 2019 Location: Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall, Las Vegas, Nevada Commentators: Don Callis, Josh Matthews We’re still in Las Vegas and on the way to the both United We Stand and Rebellion, meaning it’s hard to say what we’re going to be seeing in the next few weeks. I’m hoping we get something fresh in the main event again like last week, as a break from the seemingly never ending World Title story was a welcome change of pace. Let’s get to it. Opening recap and preview, this time with narration for a change. Opening sequence. Here are LAX and the Lucha Bros for an unsanctioned fight, meaning the Tag Team Titles aren’t on the lines. The fight is on in a hurry with a worried Konnan watching from ringside. Security is out in a hurry and the fans want to seem them fight. The Bros superkick security and manage to sneak up on LAX with a pair of chair shots. Now it’s table time but LAX gets up with a pair of spinebusters to put them through the tables in..

Here’s What Was Originally Planned For Dean Ambrose At WrestleMania 35

Who else was on the Lunatic Fringe? One of the most interesting stories of the year so far has been the contract status of Dean Ambrose. WWE announced that he would be leaving the company in April and has gone so far as to pull him from future house shows. Before Ambrose decided to try his hand elsewhere, something was in the works for him and it turns out that it was going to be a big deal. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ambrose was scheduled to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 35 in what was likely to be a match for the Universal Title. The plans were changed back in October when Reigns announced that he was suffering from leukemia, meaning that any plans were thrown out the window. Since then, Ambrose decided to not re-sign with the company and he currently is not scheduled for a WrestleMania match. They’ve headlined a show for a title before. Check out Ambrose vs. Reigns from Survivor Series 2015: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: this isn’t ..

Go For The Purple And Orange. Former NXT Champion May Be Heading For 205 Live.

Say it isn’t so. Earlier this year, four NXT names made surprising debuts on the main roster, changing the direction of Monday Night Raw, SmackDown Live and NXT. Suddenly there was fresh talent on the main roster and a bunch of names moving up from the developmental show. Ricochet and Aleister Black have thrived and Tommaso Ciampa is injured, though WWE might have plans for Johnny Gargano. According to Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live, WWE is considering moving Gargano to the 205 Live roster due to Ciampa’s injury ending the chance of Gargano teaming with him for the time being. Gargano is currently still working regularly in NXT, where he will be facing Adam Cole for the NXT Title at Takeover: New York. There is no word on when Gargano could move to 205 Live. Here’s what Gargano can do on the main roster. Check out one of his matches from Monday Night Raw: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I really, really hope this isn’t the case. Gargano has proven that..

You Could See Him. John Cena’s WrestleMania 35 Match May Be Set.

The picture gets a little more clear. With most of the WrestleMania 35 card already set, there are only a few holes that still need to be filled in. One of them is quite the question mark as we wait to see if John Cena will be making an appearance. Cena is currently filming a movie but there is a strong chance that he can be at the show. If he is, WWE already has a match planned for him. According to Dave Meltzer on F4WOnline.com, Cena has an offer on the table to face Elias at WrestleMania and is likely to accept it. While no opponent is listed, it is said to NOT be Kurt Angle, who is scheduled to be facing Baron Corbin at the show. Cena has not wrestled on WWE TV since the January 14 episode of Monday Night Raw. He has been rumored for an appearance on the show in several different spots. Maybe it can go better than last year, which wasn’t Cena’s night. Check out Cena vs. the Undertaker in a surprising match: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Cena appearing at W..

The Process Of Elimination. The Addition Of Several Names To A Battle Royal Suggests Matches Being Left Off WrestleMania.

You have to fill in the ranks somehow. With less than two weeks to go before WrestleMania 35, two of the matches that are in need of some more details are the battle royals, which could combine for nearly fifty names making it onto the show. While it’s interesting to see who is included in the field, the rosters can also show you what might not be taking place on the show, which may be the case here. WWE.com has revealed a list of twenty six more names for the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, bringing the total number of entrants to twenty nine, along with the already entered Michael Che, Colin Jost and Braun Strowman. The additional names (listed below) include Chad Gable, Bobby Roode and the Hardys. This would heavily suggest (though not guarantee) that these four will not be involved in a Tag Team Title match on the show. With these names announced, there is a strong possibility of no SmackDown Tag Team Title match and a somewhat less likely chance of a Raw Tag Team Title mat..

Ring Of Honor TV Results – March 27, 2019

Ring of Honor Date: March 27, 2019 Location: RP Funding Center, Lakeland, Florida Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Colt Cabana The post-Anniversary Show shows continue here and that means another one off night that may or may not mean anything. There’s always the chance that none of this goes anywhere, which can be rather tiresome. At the same time though, there is a real chance of getting something very nice out of these shows. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Dalton Castle/The Boys vs. Lifeblood Bandido/Tracy Williams/Juice Robinson with Tenille Dashwood for Lifeblood here. Castle sends Robinson to the floor for the strut to start, only to have Robinson throw him to the floor for a strut of his own. Another exchange of tosses to the floor is capped off by Castle being sent over the top but he comes back in for another strut off. It’s off to Williams instead, with the Boys making some rather weird noises to suggest that they want in. Boy #2 comes in for a chop but has to bring in #1..

Official May Not Mean Official. Just Who Is Hosting WrestleMania 35?

Just in case the card isn’t packed enough. I don’t think it’s any secret to say that WrestleMania 35 is going to be one of the longest wrestling shows of all time. With a possible seventeen matches being included on the card, things are already going to be long but that’s not all. There will also be bonus segments, including some involving the official host. But who is that host? Earlier this month, Alexa Bliss was announced as the official host of WrestleMania 35. However, on Sunday Carmella sent out a Tweet saying that she and R-Truth should host the show, setting off an argument between her and Bliss. R-Truth got involved also, tweeting out a video saying that he and Carmella would be hosting the show, but that Bliss could do something as well, if certain conditions were met. Here is the Twitter exchange, plus R-Truth’s response. Serious question y’all..who should be the host of @WrestleMania?! ? — MELLA I$ MONEY (@CarmellaWWE) March 24, 2019 Haha aw this is cute . But Maybe the..

Is WWE Interested In Bringing Back Alberto Del Rio?

That’s a big no. Alberto Del Rio is one of the more polarizing names in modern wrestling. There is no denying the fact that he’s a very good in-ring performer, but he’s not the most popular guy in the world and has had controversy follow him for a long time now. It’s fairly clear that his in-ring career is winding down, but there’s always the chance of one more run. Is WWE interested? Del Rio recently spoke with Superluchas.com and said that he was interested in a return to WWE. However, according to Fightful.com, WWE has absolutely no interest in bringing Del Rio back to the company. Del Rio reportedly rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and didn’t make things any better when he no showed last year’s Lucha Underground vs. Impact Wrestling event over WrestleMania weekend. Del Rio last wrestled for on the August 16, 2016, SmackDown Live. Del Rio did have his moments. Check out one of his better attacks on Big Show: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Good. I haven’t..
