WWE Working Hard To Re-Sign Two NXT Stars

Keep them around. The amount of wrestlers who have departed WWE, either on their own or because of WWE letting them go, in the last year and a half is astounding. The company has released well over 100 wrestlers in that time and there is still the chance that more will be released at any time. Now though, WWE is trying to keep some of them from joining the list. According to Fightful Select, WWE has been making an effort to re-sign both NXT’s Kyle O’Reilly and Johnny Gargano, whose contracts expire soon. Negotiations with Gargano began back in October, as WWE was impressed with how Gargano built new stars. His contract is set to expire shortly after this weekend’s WarGames event. O’Reilly’s deal is up before the end of the year and WWE is working to re-sign him as well. There is no word on whether the two are interested in staying with WWE or going elsewhere. WWE Hall Of Famer May Be Returning To The Ring

Reunion time? It is rather rare to see a wrestling couple that sticks around. While they certainly do exist they can be few and far between. Those that do last are among some of the better known names in wrestling though and it can be fascinating to see them work together. That is what we are seeing at the moment, and now we might be getting another one together for the first time. This week’s Monday Night Raw featured the return of Edge, who was interrupted by the also returning Miz and Maryse. Edge and Miz argued back and forth on the microphone, with Maryse insulting Edge as well. According to PWInsider.com, there is a chance that the story could include the return of WWE Hall of Famer and Edge’s wife Beth Phoenix. WWE would like to run another couple vs. couple storyline, though there is no word on if Phoenix and/or Maryse would be returning to the ring. Phoenix is currently a broadcaster on NXT. WWE Edits Out Controversial Lines From This Week’s Monday Night Raw

Fix it in post. There are a lot of things to criticize about WWE and one of their bigger issues seems to be promos. Wrestlers are often given scripted promos where they are unable to say things the way they want. You will see some people getting creative freedom, but either way, you will hear some strange things sneak through. That was the case this week, but now it has been cleaned up. This week’s edition of Monday Night Raw included a contract signing between Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan. During the segment, Morgan talked about how Lynch’s contract was the reason her friends were no longer in WWE. The line has been removed from WWE’s YouTube version of the promo. There is nothing to suggest that there is any backstage heat on Morgan for the promo. It was a heck of a speech. WATCH: AEW Busts Out Flaming Table In Hot Ending To Dynamite

That’s a hot one for AEW. There are certain spots in wrestling that you do not see very often, which means they are going to have an even bigger impact. You can’t bust them out very often as it would take away their special feeling, but when they are there, they work in a big way. That was supposed to be the case again this week, but things did not exactly turn out as planned. The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw Cody Rhodes face Andrade El Idolo in an Atlanta street fight. Near the end of the match, the two of them were on the top rope when Cody’s wife Brandi Rhodes made a surprise return and lit a table on fire. Cody superplexed El Idolo through the table and pinned him, with Cody’s arm on fire during the cover. It was a heck of a crash. VIDEO: Surprise Return Takes Place During AEW Dynamite

Welcome back. There are a lot of people on the AEW roster and it can be fascinating to see what some of them do. Some of them do not get to make that many appearances, which can make for a rather cool moment when someone comes back. If that comes after an even longer absence than usual, it can be even better. One such return took place this week. This week’s AEW Dynamite featured the surprise return of Brandi Rhodes, who has been missing for several months due to maternity leave. Rhodes returned during the show’s main event between Cody Rhodes and Andrade El Idolo, lighting a table on fire so Cody could superplex El Idolo through it. AEW Star Heading Back To Japan

Back in a bit. AEW has one of the most impressive rosters in recent memory and a lot of that is due to how varied everything really is. There are some incredibly talented wrestlers on the roster and it makes for some rather awesome shows. There is not always room for everyone though and now one of them will be heading away, at least for a little while, to work another show. Hikaru Shida has announced that she will be returning to Japan to appear on the Makai Genesis ReBoot show on February 4 at Kameari Ririo Hall. There is nothing to suggest that this will be anything more than a single match and Shida is not expected to miss extended time from AEW. He might have it for awhile. Monday Night Raw has been on the air for a long time and will be celebrating its thirtieth anniversary in 2023. That is a heck of a run and there have been some incredibly memorable moments over the years. Some of them have been better than others, but there are certain names who go along with the show’s history. Now one of them has reached an amazing accomplishment. According to 411mania.com, Randy Orton has now wrestled the most matches in the history of Monday Night Raw. Orton and Riddle defeated Dolph Ziggler/Robert Roode on this week’s Monday Night Raw, marking Orton’s 437th match on the show, breaking his tie with Kane for the most in history. KB’s Review: Just What I Always Wanted

The last week has been the week of talking, with three major talking segments of varying quality. That had me thinking about some kind of a look at all three of them and some kind of comparison, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. One promo segment was reaching all time status and there was no point in trying to compare (or even contrast) the other two as it might as well have been on another planet. Today we’re going to bask in some promoing glory, which is something everyone needs to do every now and then. Last week featured an all timer of a battle on the mics as CM Punk and MJF went at it to open Dynamite. This is the kind of thing that had fans drooling as soon as Punk’s music interrupted MJF the week before. These are two of the best talkers, especially trash talkers, in the world and I think everyone knew we were going to be in for an instant classic between the two of them. Former WWE Star Returning To The Ring After Five Year Absence

Welcome back? Wrestling is rather different from the rest of the sporting world in that wrestlers are able to jump back into the ring at almost any time. Since there is no season or anything close to one, a wrestler can work a match or two and then sit on the sidelines for as long as they want. Now a legend is returning to the ring just after officially leaving WWE. Last month, Scotty 2 Hotty requested and received his release from WWE. This ended a five year long stint as an NXT trainer and a decades long association with the company. Since his release, Scotty has already been signed to wrestle at the IPSW Valentine’s Vengeance on February 18. This will be Scotty’s first match of any kind since November 2016. That could have been a lot worse. Injuries are something that can happen to anyone at any time in wrestling and there is only so much that can be done to prevent them. Training and experience can do a lot of good to keep them from happening, but the danger is always there. That was the case this week, as a WWE star was injured during her most recent match. According to PWInsider.com, Carmella was banged up during the ten woman tag match on this week’s Monday Night Raw. Carmella was said to have been “rocked” by a clothesline from Rhea Ripley and needed a moment to recover. She was checked on during the match and was able to continue, including doing everything that had been planned for her throughout the match. It was a rough match. WWE Wrestlers Are Reportedly Chronically Underpaid

They aren’t going to work on that. WWE is a huge wrestling promotion and by far the biggest in the world. The company has its hands in all kinds of things and it has long since figured out how to make a fortune. That opens up a lot of doors for them, but you might not know it just by looking. WWE has released well over 100 wrestlers, citing budget cuts. Now we know something interesting about the remaining roster. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, most mainstream sports teams pay out about 50% of their revenue to athletes. That is not the case in WWE though, where about 10% of the revenue goes to the wrestlers. Everyone in the company, including Becky Lynch, Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, is underpaid and should be making far more than they are currently bringing in. Big Swole Announces She Is Leaving AEW

There she goes. According to a statement that was released via Twitter, AEW superstar Big Swole is leaving the company after the two parties mutually decided not to renew her contract. Swole had been part of the company since All Out 2019, where she competed in a 21-woman Casino Battle Royal. The statement reads as follows: Over the past couple of months my life has taken on the mantra grow, learn, change. Dealing with shadow work took strength I didn’t know I had. I think God for my loving family because they got me through some of the roughest months of my life. But I realized the real test is application. So I took my leap and after speaking with [Tony Khan] and AEW higher officials we’ve decided not to renew my contract with All Elite Wrestling. This was a hard decision but a needed one. VIDEO: Roman Reigns And Seth Rollins Face Off After Monday Night Raw

That’s a big deal. There are certain groups of wrestlers who are going to get some extra notice no matter what they do. At the same time, there are some things that they can do which extend even beyond their normal actions. You don’t get to see these happen very often, but one of them took place after the cameras stopped rolling following this week’s Monday Night Raw. According to PWInsider.com, the dark match after this week’s Monday Night Raw featured a six man tag with Drew McIntyre and the New Day defeating the Bloodline. During the Bloodline’s entrance, Roman Reigns and his former Shield teammate Seth Rollins, who had wrestled in the show’s main event, had a staredown on the stage and exchanged a few words. Rollins walked to the back with nothing physical taking place. Rollins and Reigns have not teamed together outside of a live event since the Shield’s Final Chapter on April 21, 2019. NXT Date: November 30, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Beth Phoenix, Wade Barrett It’s the go home show for WarGames and that means DOUBLE LADDER MATCHES!!! Yes we’ll be getting the third and fourth ladder matches in WWE in about five weeks, because there is no other way to determine control of WarGames. That stupid coin flip stuff is just too old fashioned you see. Let’s get to it. The two women’s teams get in a fight on the way to the ring before the non-participants brawl to the back. Kay Lee Ray vs. Dakota Kai Ladder match and Ray rocks her with a superkick to start. They’re on the floor in a hurry with the ladder being pulled out and Kai getting superkicked again. Kai is back with a roll of the dice onto the steps for a breather. Another ladder is pulled out but Ray uses the distraction to cut her off. Welcome back. There are certain legends who are going to get a reaction no matter what they do. It can make for some very special moments and some of them are the kind that you can only get in certain places. The best of them are often those which take place in someone’s hometown, which will be the case again for a special appearance to close out the year. WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus has announced that she will be appearing as the guest host for the WWE Live Event in her hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada on December 29. Stratus has made it clear that this will be a one off appearance and not the start of a long term run.
