WWE And AEW Have Different Rules About Positive Coronavirus Tests

They keep changing. The Coronavirus pandemic is still alive and well and there is nothing to suggest that it will be wrapping up anytime soon. We are currently in another spike and that could continue for a good while. The situation has certainly changed the wrestling industry again, and now we know a little bit more about how the biggest promotions are dealing with it. Earlier this week, several WWE wrestlers reportedly tested positive for the Coronavirus. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the WWE wrestlers are not allowed to talk about their positive diagnosis as per orders from management. AEW wrestlers are under no such restrictions, though no wrestlers have disclosed a recent positive test. At the moment, both companies are planning to move forward without making any major changes due to the pandemic. WWE is in a bit of a tight spot at the moment. Interesting Note On How WWE Locker Room Feels About AEW

Call it a battleground. WWE is still the biggest wrestling promotion in the world and that has been the case for a very long time now. There is nothing to suggest that their status will change anytime soon, but they now have someone closing in on them for the first time in a good while. AEW has changed things up a lot, and some small battle lines have been draw, but not one that you might expect. According to a Q&A session with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, WWE wrestlers are not taking extreme sides between the two companies. While there are such stances taken by WWE, management, the wrestlers are said to not have as much of an us vs. them mentality. Get the trucks ready. The Coronavirus had a huge impact on the wrestling world and a lot of those changes are still being felt to this day. While things are not completely fixed and there are a lot of areas that need to be improved, you can see that we are getting better. That is the case again with one of the bigger promotions as it has some good news for itself and its fans. Update On Samoa Joe’s WWE Status, Possibly Switching To A New Role

It’s another career path. Wrestlers have some limited options when it comes to getting out of the industry. While some are able to retire, there are others who do not have the greatest list of opportunities so they are forced to stay in the ring long after they probably should have hung up their boots. There are other chances available for some though and now we might be seeing one wrestler try something new. WWE held tryouts for this week in Orlando, Florida in an attempt to find new stars for the company. Former NXT Champion Samoa Joe was seen at the camp, scouting talent and taking notes on potential signings. This comes after Joe has not been seen since September, when he vacated the NXT Title due to an undisclosed injury. At the time, Dave Meltzer reported that Joe had been wanted in a backstage role in WWE. There is no word on if Joe will wrestle again. There’s your history. Titles are often the most important part of a wrestling promotion as they are the way to determine the best wrestlers in the company. This might be by means of actual skill or through cheating, but winning a championship is one of the easiest ways to present a star. Now we are seeing a wrestler setting a record for holding a title, even if it has not been around very long. Cody Rhodes won the TNT Title in the main event of this week’s AEW Rampage. Rhodes defeated Sammy Guevara to win the title for the third time, breaking his own record for the most reigns in the title’s history. This marks the first time that any AEW wrestler has held a title three times. The win ends Guevara’s reign at 87 days after he won the title from Miro on the September 29 Dynamite. The title has been sought after since its introduction. AEW Wrestlers Refute Recent Report On Cody Rhodes

That doesn’t sound great. AEW has had a huge impact on the wrestling world and has done so under a very different method. While President Tony Khan seems to have the final say on just about everything, there are a group of wrestlers with quite a bit of authority of their own. However, there is a report that one of them might not be the friendliest backstage. Now some wrestlers are disagreeing with what was said. Earlier this week, PW Torch reported that AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes is not as approachable with the rest of the roster as CM Punk. After the report was published, several AEW wrestlers have come to Rhodes’ defense, including QT Marshall, Fuego del Sol, Preston Vance and more. We’re on the way. The year is almost over and in WWE terms, that means it is time to start the Road To WrestleMania 38. That includes more than a few big shows, starting with Day One on January 1, 2022. The show’s main event will see Universal Champion Roman Reigns defending against Brock Lesnar. Reigns will be missing his special counsel Paul Heyman, but we could be in for something bigger. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Reigns firing Heyman is likely to set up a major WrestleMania match. Some of the possibilities are Heyman returning at Day One to cost Lesnar the title, or Lesnar winning the title at Day One, leading to Heyman returning at WrestleMania to cost him the title there. Welcome home. The wrestling landscape has been shaken up in a lot of ways in recent weeks and there is nothing to suggest that the changes are going to be ending anytime soon. One of the biggest changes in recent weeks has been the end of the original era of Ring of Honor, as the company is going into hiatus, allowing its wrestlers to go wherever they like. Now we know where another one is heading. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Mike Bennett is expected to sign with Impact Wrestling. While not confirmed, there is a chance that his wife, Maria Kanellis-Bennett, could join him. Bennett pulled out of a recent independent date, reportedly due to a scheduling issue with Impact Wrestling. During his time in Impact Wrestling, Bennett won the X-Division Title. McMahon has dominated the industry for decades and no one has given him a serious threat in over twenty years. That has made him a very wealthy man, which has allowed him to own some rather expensive things. Now you can buy one of those, assuming you have a pretty deep bank account. According to Compass, Vince and Linda McMahon are selling their Greenwich, Connecticut mansion. The home is listed for $32 million and features six bedrooms, twelve bathrooms, a swimming pool, a library, an elevator and an eight car garage. WWE Day One Title Match May Be Off

That could be a problem. We are just over a week away from WWE Day One and the card is mostly set. This is a new concept for WWE, as the show is running on the very first day of the year. As a result, WWE is going to want to present the best show possible, but it seems that one of their announced title matches might not be happening, though it could be for a few reasons. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Raw Tag Team Title match at Day One may be off. The match was scheduled to see RKBro defend their titles against the winners of the Mysterios vs. the Street Profits. However, RKBro’s Riddle was missing from this week’s Monday Night Raw and the Street Profits’ Montez Ford has been out of action for two weeks. The tournament final was scheduled for the December 27 Monday Night Raw but as of Friday night, the match is no longer being advertised. It is not known when the match will eventually take place. Someone Tried To Sell Rhea Ripley’s Stolen Gear And Title Belt

At least they were caught. The right look is one of the most important parts of a wrestler’s overall package. They have to be able to get attention drawn to themselves one way or another but it can often be easier said than done. Getting the right combination can be tricky, but in this case, someone’s signature look was literally stolen from them, along with some gold. Back in October, then WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Rhea Ripley lost her back while in New Mexico for a live event. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, whoever took the bag then attempted to sell both the bag and the title on social media. Fans eventually figured out that the gear was Ripley’s, causing the person with the bag to stop responding. There is no word on if Ripley will be able to get her things back. The new generation. WWE’s roster has undergone all kinds of changes in recent months and there is nothing to suggest that those changes are going to be ending anytime soon. Over 100 wrestlers have been let go from the company in the last year and a half, meaning there are several spots to be filled. That is something WWE has been working on, with at least one familiar face. WWE has released a video of its latest talent tryout in Orlando, Florida. NXT Star Clears Up Social Media Rumors That May Not Exist

The record has been straightened. Wrestlers have a bit of a weird schedule compared to just about every other profession in the world. There is only so much personal time to be had for people who are constantly on the road around the country and it can create quite the set of problems. This includes in romantic relationships, but several wrestlers find a way around that by dating others in the business. However, that isn’t the case this time around. NXT’s Grayson Waller has sent out a tweet clarifying that despite some photos and suggestions on social media, he and Indi Hartwell are not dating. Waller said that despite Hartwell’s efforts, he has not come to the US to date “some bogan Australian”. WWE’s Day One Plans Despite Coronavirus Outbreak

Next show up. The Coronavirus pandemic has certainly taken its toll on the wrestling world so far and unfortunately it seems to be continuing for the time being. The Omnicron variant has brought the numbers back up around the country and WWE has certainly been hit as well. That can make things a good bit more complicated, but WWE does not seem to be deterred. According to PWInsider.com, WWE is currently planning to continue with its Day One pay per view despite a new Coronavirus outbreak. Day One is currently scheduled for January 1, 2022, though several members of the WWE roster are said to have contracted the virus. There is no word on what will happen if several of the scheduled matches are unable to take place. He’s in his own place. Earlier this year, CM Punk made his AEW debut in one of the biggest moments the company has ever seen. Punk was instantly one of the company’s top stars and he has continued to hold that spot in the months since. In addition to being a star on his own, Punk can be a help to the locker room, but there is something that might hold that idea back a bit. According to PW Torch, Punk isolates himself backstage in AEW by having his own locker room, just like Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin. It is not clear why Punk has his own room, but he has a longstanding reputation for being less social than other wrestlers. This year’s edition features four names attached to the wrestling industry, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Vince McMahon, WWE President Nick Khan and Craig Jacobson. Backstage Heat On AEW Star Over Tweets Insulting ROH’s Jonathan Gresham

He went a bit too far. There are a lot of ways to set up a wrestling feud, though some of the modern versions are a little bit different than the classics. Social media has become an option to set up a feud, but like almost anything else, it has to be done right. This time around, it seems that a wrestler tried to set something up but didn’t quite st things up properly. According to Fightful Select, AEW’s Anthony Ogogo had some heat backstage over a tweet he sent to Ring of Honor’s Jonathan Gresham. After Gresham won the Ring of Honor World Title at Final Battle earlier this month, Ogogo tweeted that Gresham’s title win was similar to Hornswoggle being the final holder of the original WWE Cruiserweight Title. Ogogo continue to go back and forth with Gresham’s wife Jordynne Grace, who wrestles for Impact Wrestling.
