Update On Karrion Kross’ WWE Return, Possible Huge Plans For Him

August 7, 2022 • Admin

He might have a future. There have been all kinds of changes taking place in WWE in recent weeks and some of them have involved wrestlers making surprise returns. That was the case this week as Karrion Kross made his return on SmackDown. Seeing Kross back was surprising enough, but now it seems that he might be in for quite the push in his own right. According to Fightful Select, there have been pitches in WWE creative to immediately put Kross into the WWE Universal Title feud between champion Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre. One possible plan could see Kross challenging Reigns for one of his titles in a potential split of the championships. This comes as the USA Network has been requesting a title of its own as Reigns rarely appears on the show, with an interim title being pitched. There is no word on if such an idea was seriously considered by WWE. Opinion: I was surprised to see Kross back in WWE but going straight from that to the main event scene might be a bit too much of a jump..

NXT Star Appearing In Upcoming Film To Continue Acting Career

August 7, 2022 • Admin

It’s something else. Wrestlers have a weird relationship with acting. There have been some success stories over the years, but one of the most common criticisms is that while wrestlers act in the ring, they are only wrestlers when they try acting on screen. That does not stop them from trying though and now another WWE star might have done something to get his foot in the acting door. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, NXT’s Sanga will appear in the upcoming Bollywood film Brahmastra Part One: Shiva. The film, which will be released on September 9, will be Sanga’s first film after he appeared in a television show from 2013-2014. WWE has made no mention of his part in the film. Sanga most recently wrestled on the July 12 edition of NXT where he defeated Duke Hudson. Opinion: The more I see of Sanga, the more I like him, as he has a unique look and is someone who gets your attention no matter what he is doing. His in-ring work is good enough, but apparently someone else se..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Star Possibly Injured At Live Event

August 7, 2022 • Admin

Please don’t be bad. Injuries are one of the worst things that you can see happen in wrestling. Not only can they stop a storyline or a match from continuing as planned, but much more importantly they can put someone in a bad spot in the short and long term. Unfortunately that might be the case again as a WWE star might have been injured over the weekend. According to a variety of posts on Twitter, Carmella may have been injured during a WWE live event over the weekend. Carmella was facing Asuka and Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair in a title match and seems to have been injured when she ran into the corner. Carmella’s husband Corey Graves tweeted about the incident before deleting the tweet. WWE has not acknowledged it in any way. Why he tweet this for ? ?? pic.twitter.com/Zc7Ww64rpX — GRAM ?? . (@OhMyGodGRAM) August 7, 2022 I'm hearing Carmella got injured at a live event. I hope it isn’t too serious ? — Roman Reigns SZN ? (@reigns_era) August 7, 2022 Wishing @CarmellaWW..

Another AEW Star Injured During Battle Of The Belts, Pulled From Independent Shows

August 7, 2022 • Admin

That’s a painful one. There are all kinds of injuries in wrestling and you never know when you are going to see one. It could be something built up for a long time or something that happens all at once. The latter can be more devastating as they can come out of nowhere, and that seems to be the case again, as a star was injured during a match that took place this week. This week, AEW presented its third Battle Of The Belts event. During the show, AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa successfully defended her title against Jamie Hayter. According to Fightful Select, Hayter suffered a broken nose during the match, though she did finish the match without issue. Hayter has been pulled from her scheduled appearances with Icons of Wrestling, though it is not clear if she will miss any time from AEW. Opinion: That’s one of those injuries that can pop up out of nowhere, as Hayter probably took a shot to the face and was injured in the blink of an eye. The good thing is that she should be able t..

AEW Battle Of The Belts III Results

August 7, 2022 • Admin

Battle Of The Belts III Date: August 6, 2022 Location: Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, Michigan Commentators: Taz, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone It’s time for another of these specials and I’m not sure what to expect from something like this. AEW does not seem to be the most interested in running these shows but that very well might have a lot to do with the shows being network mandates. At least we should get some good action so let’s get to it. TNT Title: Jay Lethal vs. Wardlow Lethal, with Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh, is challenging. Wardlow shoves him around to start and a big toss sends Lethal outside. Lethal gets in a cheap shot though and scores with an enziguri back inside. A tilt-a-whirl slam gets Wardlow out of trouble but Lethal knocks him outside for the suicide dive. That means Lethal can get in the strut before wrapping Wardlow’s leg around the post. We take a break and come back with Lethal having to escape the powerbomb. Instead Wardlow goes with a clothesline to turn Let..

You’re Going To Be Seeing A Lot More Of Edge For Awhile

August 6, 2022 • Admin

He’ll be around. We are in a new era in WWE and that means it is time to start making some changes. This includes a variety of wrestlers getting to be on television more often than they have been in recent times, which will include some fresh faces. At the same time, there are going to be some veterans around again and that will be the case going forward on Monday nights. Edge made his return to WWE TV at Summerslam and appeared this week on Monday Night Raw, where he promised to take out Judgment Day. According to PWInsider.com, Edge is currently scheduled to appear on every Monday Night Raw until Clash At The Castle on September 3. Edge does not currently have a match scheduled for the show and has not wrestled since Hell In A Cell on June 5. Opinion: It makes sense to have Edge appear on TV more often as he is one of the bigger names that WWE has at the moment. I could see him having a big match at Clash At The Castle and it would be nice to see him getting the TV time to set thin..

Backstage News On Triple H’s Plans For WWE Roster

August 6, 2022 • Admin

It’s time to shake things up again, but this time in a very different way. A new report from Fightful Select outlines some of the plans for the WWE roster now that Triple H has taken over for Vince McMahon and is now EVP of Talent Relations. According to the report, Triple H is just getting started, and a “feeling-out process” has taken place regarding talk of reshaping the roster. This includes adding more depth in the form of past WWE talent that has either been released or didn’t re-sign with the company. This concept began to unfold during this week’s WWE programming, as Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky, Karrion Kross and Scarlett all returned to the company. Other names to consider are Bray Wyatt, Johnny Gargano, John Morrison, Tegan Nox, and Tyler Breeze as they are WWE Superstars who are still believed to be free agents. We will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they are made available to us. [h/t to Bleacher Report for providing content in this article] Editor’s Op..

FULL MATCH: Title Match Takes Place After This Week’s WWE SmackDown

August 6, 2022 • Admin

The evening was young. There are a lot of wrestlers under the WWE banner but there is only so much television time for all of them to share. On occasion that is not going to be enough to go around but WWE is known for putting on some more material after the cameras go off. That was the situation again this week as WWE was able to get in a dry run of an upcoming title match. As seen on Twitter, this week’s post SmackDown dark match saw United States Champion Bobby Lashley successfully defend his title against Ciampa. This is the same match that will be taking place next week on Monday Night Raw, after Ciampa earned the shot in a series of matches on this week’s show. Neither Lashley nor Ciampa appeared on SmackDown as they are both Monday Night Raw stars. There is a lot to this. Check out the full match from after SmackDown: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes sense for WWE, as the two of them getting to put in some practice befor..

Update On Logan Paul’s WWE Schedule, When He Could Be Around Again

August 6, 2022 • Admin

It might be a bit. There have been some new names appearing in WWE as of late but not all of them are full time wrestlers. Some of the names who have been around more often lately are celebrities who only get in the ring every now and then, which is the case with Logan Paul. Following an impressive performance from Paul at Summerslam, fans have been wondering when he is going to be back and now we know a bit more about his schedule. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Paul is currently scheduled to take part in a boxing match in December, meaning he will likely not be around for the rest of the year. Paul signed a deal with WWE earlier this year, which caused him to wrestle at multiple events, though there was nothing said about him appearing on a full time basis. There is no word on if Paul may appear in a non-wrestling capacity between his matches. Opinion: Paul not being around WWE full time has to be expected, as he is one of the bigger stars in social media today. He..

Ric Flair May Be Hinting At Wrestling Again THIS WEEKEND

August 6, 2022 • Admin

Again? There are certain wrestlers who stand out even in a crowd of legends and those are the names that are going to be the most remembered. Unfortunately some of them are known for some more negatives than positives, and that might be true in this case. Now we might be seeing someone changing their mind on what seemed to be a definitive decision about his career. Last weekend, Ric Flair wrestled his last match when he teamed with his son in law Andrade El Idolo to defeat Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal. Following the match, Flair said that he was officially retired. However, Flair has tweeted that he and El Idolo will be “back at it again” at WWC Anniversario 49 in Puerto Rico, with a photo of them from the tag match. Flair was previously announced as being in El Idolo’s corner against Carlito. To be clear, there is nothing definitive about Flair wrestling and he may just be hyping up his previously advertised appearance. We’re The Dirtiest Players In The Game! @AndradeElIdolo & The Na..

REVIEW: Impact Wrestling Hard To Kill 2022: They’re Really Good

August 6, 2022 • Admin

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Hard To Kill 2022 Date: January 8, 2022 Location: The Bomb Factory, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Tom Hannifan, D’Lo Brown The company is back on pay per view for one of only four times this year. The show has some big matches set, including Matt Cardona and W. Morrissey challenging Moose for the World Title in a three way, plus Knockouts Champion Mickie James defending against Deonna Purrazzo in a Texas Deathmatch. Let’s get to it. Pre-Show: Madman Fulton vs. Jake Something Fulton forearms him to the floor to sta..

WWE Has Erased Yet Another Backstage Connection To Vince McMahon

August 6, 2022 • Admin

He really is gone. Last month, Vince McMahon officially retired from WWE in one of the biggest stories in wrestling history. McMahon led the company for the better part of forty years and has been the driving force behind everything WWE has done. Such a change is going to take some time to get used to, but now another McMahon related change has taken place behind the scenes. According to PWInsider.com, McMahon’s name has been removed from the company’s internal roster. McMahon had been listed along with names such as John Cena and the Bella Twins, who were not part of the active roster but could appear on any show. This is the latest step to getting rid of McMahon’s presence in WWE, after the backstage references to his name were removed last week. Opinion: This is the new reality that WWE is facing and it is almost hard to believe that McMahon is being erased so fast. I know he didn’t leave on the best of terms, but to get rid of so many things that he has done and been associated w..

AEW Rampage Results – August 5, 2022

August 6, 2022 • Admin

Rampage Date: August 5, 2022 Location: Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, Michigan Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross We’re a day away from Battle Of The Belts and that is probably not going to mean very much. Other than that, we have a street fight this week between Keith Lee/Swerve Strickland and Josh Woods/Tony Nese, after Woods attacked Lee last week. In addition, Madison Rayne will be making her AEW debut which could be interesting. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jon Moxley vs. Mance Warner Non-title and William Regal is on commentary. Before the match, we get a video from Warner, who is quite the Tennessee style talker. He promises to fight Moxley (rather than dance with him) because he has heard Moxley talk about how much he loves to bleed. Now Ole Mancer is here to become the man. It’s a brawl in the aisle to start with Warner sending him into the steps before biting Moxley’s head. They get inside for the bell and are back on the floor literally two seconds l..

Jade Cargill’s Next Challenger Revealed

August 6, 2022 • Admin

She’s that…person. On tonight’s episode of AEW Rampage, it was revealed who will be the next challenger for Jade Cargill and the TBS Championship. After defeating Leila Grey in her debut with the company, Madison Rayne will be challenging Cargill for the championship on next Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite. This will be a part of their ‘Quake by the Lake’ special. From Bleacher Report: Fresh off being hired as the head coach of the AEW women’s division, Madison Rayne made her in-ring debut for the promotion in a match against Leila Grey. Rayne took control at first, but Grey used a lot of heel tactics to put herself in a better position. Stokely Hathaway was there with her to make sure she had an even greater advantage. Rayne was able to hit her finisher to get the win in her first match on AEW TV, but she was immediately confronted by Jade Cargill. The TBS champ invited Rayne to accept an open challenge for the belt on Wednesday. Kiera Hogan tried to attack Rayne, but it ended wi..

Former WWE Star Announces That His In-Ring Career Is Over, Moving Towards Broadcasting

August 6, 2022 • Admin

His boots are hung up. Wrestlers have one of the strangest career paths in any industry as it can be rather difficult to get out of the industry. Since wrestlers can find work in a variety of places around the country, it can be easy to keep going for a bit longer than they should. You do see some wrestlers who are able to find a way out of the ring though and another one has done just that. Former WWE star Matthew Rehwoldt, better known as Aiden English, has announced that he will not be taking anymore in-ring bookings. Rehwoldt said that he does not feel like he belongs in the ring anymore and would rather focus on other areas. Instead of wrestling, Rehwoldt will be focusing on broadcasting and other industries, including voiceovers, gaming and esports. Rehwoldt has been doing broadcast work for Impact Wrestling and last wrestled on May 14. So here you go: I will no longer be taking bookings to wrestle going forward. I've always been most at home with a mic in front of me ..

Cain Velasquez Pleads Not Guilty to Attempted Murder Charge

August 6, 2022 • Admin

It had been previously reported that former UFC heavyweight champion and WWE superstar Cain Velasquez had been arrested on charges of attempted murder. He pleaded not guilty to these charges in Santa Clara (California) County earlier today. From ESPN: Velasquez, 40, is being charged with attempted murder and 10 other gun-related charges stemming from an incident where he allegedly chased down a man, Harry Goularte — who is being charged with molesting a young relative of Velasquez — and shooting a gun into Goularte’s vehicle, hitting Goularte’s stepfather, Paul Bender. Velasquez has been in jail since Feb. 28 and has been denied bail on three separate occasions. A pre-trial hearing in the case is scheduled for Sept. 26, where Geragos is expecting to be able to get witnesses to testify, the attorney said. If the case is not dismissed at that point, he said, it would then go to trial, which could begin before the end of the year. Geragos said the prosecution will not be calling Goula..

New Title Match Set For WWE Clash At The Castle With Surprising Challenger

August 6, 2022 • Admin

She’s up next. WWE has been expanding its slate of large scale shows in stadiums, meaning there are multiple events that need big time cards. The most common way to do this is with championship matches and there are several to pick from at any given point in WWE. Another of those was added to the lineup this week, as a new championship match was set for an upcoming major event. This week on SmackDown, Shayna Baszler won a gauntlet match to become the new #1 contender to the SmackDown Women’s Title. The match featured seven women, with Baszler last eliminating Raquel Rodriguez. Baszler will receive her title shot against champion Liv Morgan at Clash At The Castle in Cardiff, Wales on September 3. This will be Baszler’s first televised shot at a singles title since Money In The Bank 2020. Opinion: I have long since wondered how Baszler never won a singles title in WWE. While she had the great run as NXT Women’s Champion, nothing ever happened on the main roster for some reason. Hopeful..

Karrion Kross and Scarlett Return To WWE

August 6, 2022 • Admin

Tick Tock. On tonight’s episode of WWE Smackdown, Karrion Kross and Scarlett officially made their return to the company to close the show. Business just picked up!@realKILLERkross has taken out @DMcIntyreWWE on #SmackDown! pic.twitter.com/f53VjJhvFn — WWE (@WWE) August 6, 2022 From our own Thomas Hall: Here is the Bloodline (minus the recovering Paul Heyman) for a chat. After getting his acknowledgment, Reigns talks about how he respects Brock Lesnar but Lesnar put Paul Heyman in the hospital. Cue Drew McIntyre who says he’s ready to fight Reigns right now….but then everything goes black and white. A woman appears in the entrance and Karrion Kross returns to take out McIntyre. The woman, Scarlett, brings her hourglass to the ring and Kross stares at Reigns to end the show. This is the duo’s first time on WWE programming since they were released in November 2021. Editor’s Opinion: I don’t know about you, but I marked out on my couch when his music hit. This was completely out of..

Polish Them Up: WWE Announces Women’s Tag Team Title Tournament

August 6, 2022 • Admin

They’re back. There are a lot of titles under the WWE banner and some of them are specifically for one set of wrestlers. Those titles often have smaller fields of competitors, which means things can be a bit tighter when it comes to challenging for a championship. It is going to be the case again soon, as WWE is going to be crowning a new set of champions in the near future. It was announced on this week’s SmackDown that a tournament would begin next week on Monday Night Raw to crown new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. There were no details on the tournament, including the participants, number of teams or when the finals would be held. Sasha Banks and Naomi vacated the titles when they walked out on WWE back in May, with a tournament being promised shortly thereafter. Opinion: This surprises me a bit as the titles had not been mentioned in several months. I don’t know if the women’s division has the depth to support the titles but if more women are being brought in, it could work out..

SmackDown Results – August 5, 2022

August 6, 2022 • Admin

Smackdown Date: August 5, 2022 Location: Bon Secours Wellness Arena, Greenville, South Carolina Commentators: Michael Cole, Pat McAfee We’re done with Summerslam and well on the way to Clash At The Castle, which should make for an energized few weeks. WWE seems to want to make this show into something special and they have the ability to do so. The main event is already set and now we get to see what else they have. Let’s get to it. We open with a long recap of Summerslam. The Bloodline arrives. Pat McAfee gives us a telestrated recap of him kicking Happy Corbin low at Summerslam. We see the impact about ten times before cutting to the back, where a bunch of people are laughing at Corbin. Ricochet laughs a lot and gets a match with Corbin tonight as a result. Ricochet vs. Happy Corbin Corbin throws him into the corner to start but Ricochet kicks him in the face, setting up the big flip dive to the floor. Back in and Ricochet’s springboard is broken up but he’s fine enough to block..
