SmackDown Results – September 16, 2022

September 17, 2022 • Admin

Smackdown Date: September 16, 2022 Location: Honda Center, Anaheim, California Commentators: Corey Graves, Michael Cole As has been said multiple times lately, and then everything changed. Over the course of the week, Roman Reigns started focusing on Logan Paul, which seems to be a likely Crown Jewel main event. That is the kind of thing that seems hard to fathom, but here we are with a big segment needed to make it work. Let’s get to it. Here is Logan Paul to get things going. After commentary recaps Paul’s issues with Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman this week (Reigns went on Paul’s podcast and had an interview, then after Reigns left, Paul said he could beat him), Paul says he has done it again, meaning he has made someone mad. We get some hardcore WHATing before Paul talks about how he has challenged people like Floyd Mayweather before, so tomorrow there is going to be a press conference in Las Vegas. If Reigns is man enough, he can show up and meet him face to face. Cue the Bloodli..

BREAKING: Roman Reigns Set To Defend Against Shocking Challenger At WWE Crown Jewel

September 16, 2022 • Admin

It’s a way to go. We are firmly in the Roman Reigns era as Reigns is now over two years into his run as Universal Champion. This is in addition to the WWE Title that he won back at WrestleMania 38, making him the undisputed World Champion of the company. That much time as champion means that he is going to run out of challengers, but now WWE has a fresh opponent in mind. Earlier this week, Reigns and Logan Paul went at it on Twitter, with Reigns assigning Paul Heyman to deal with the situation. Heyman said that he would take care of it and Triple H invited Paul to SmackDown to do so. According to F4WOnline.com, Paul vs. Reigns is expected to headline Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on November 5, with a press conference planned for Saturday. The match is likely to be announced on SmackDown. Opinion: This is the kind of match that comes out of nowhere and I’m curious to see how Paul can do in that kind of a setting. He did very well at Summerslam which is a big enough deal, but this is an..

Big Update On Bray Wyatt’s WWE Return, Negotiations Hit A Snag

September 16, 2022 • Admin

That isn’t a no. There have been a lot of returns to the WWE as of late and that has made for some very interesting moments. Several former WWE stars have come back to the company after the massive releases of the last two years, but there are still some names out there to bring back. Some of them are more complicated than others though, and now we know some more details on perhaps the biggest name left. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, talks between WWE and Bray Wyatt are still alive, though they have stalled in recent weeks. Wyatt was released from WWE in 2021 and has not wrestled anywhere else since. This is reportedly due to Wyatt’s high asking price, as he was one of the top paid stars in WWE. Triple H was recently asked about Wyatt’s return but would not say yes or no. This was the same thing he said about Braun Strowman, who returned earlier this month. Opinion: I can’t imagine Wyatt staying away from WWE forever and that is a good thing. Wyatt has a lot of crea..

Details On Kenny Omega’s AEW Locker Room Speech, Statements Possibly Taken Wrong

September 16, 2022 • Admin

That’s certainly something to say. AEW’s locker room is in a bit of a state at the moment and that is the kind of thing you do not want to see happen very often. The company is having some issues with its wrestlers and its leadership, which has been going on for more than awhile now. One of the company’s leaders tried to help things out with it not that long ago, but some of the details might not have been so well received. Back on August 24, AEW held a talent meeting before Dynamite. Several veterans spoke at the meeting, including Kenny Omega. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Omega took more of a “tough love” approach, including a statement that he would not have hired eight out of the ten wrestlers present. Omega was said to be joking with Will Ospreay when he said this, but the comment was taken seriously by others, who were reportedly upset. He went on to say that the locker room energy was different than when AEW began, which was suggested as Omega wanting to retu..

Impact Wrestling Results – September 15, 2022

September 16, 2022 • Admin

Impact Wrestling Date: September 15, 2022 Location: The Factory, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan We’re rapidly approaching Victory Road and then Bound For Glory, meaning some of the shows’ major matches have already been announced. With some of the bigger shows on the way, it would make sense to give them that much extra attention. There’s a good chance of getting some more added to the cards this week so let’s get to it. Opening recap. X-Division Title: Mascara Dorada vs. Mike Bailey Bailey is defending. They trade armdrags to start before both block one at the same time. An exchange of countered hurricanranas gives them a standoff and they chop it out until Bailey is knocked to the floor. The slingshot dive misses and Dorada wins a chop off outside. Back in and a suicide dive drops Bailey, setting up a missed top rope double stomp back inside. Bailey pulls him into a kneebar but Dorada is in the ropes rather quickly. The running twisting shooting star g..

MJF Gets Engaged To Longtime Girlfriend

September 16, 2022 • Admin

He’s better than you and someone now agrees with that permanently. MJF recently announced on Instagram that he is now engaged to his girlfriend Naomi Rosenblum! However, being the character that he is, he took the opportunity to continue being a troll, by saying the following on Twitter: Ladies panicking on my TL don’t worry. Just cuz there’s a goalie doesn’t mean you can’t score. Strive for greatness. Ladies panicking on my TL don’t worry. Just cuz there’s a goalie doesn’t mean you can’t score. Update On Randy Orton’s Injury Status

September 16, 2022 • Admin

It might be a bit. Injuries are one of the great equalizers in wrestling as you never know when you are going to see any wrestler go on the shelf for a very long time. Anyone can get injured at any given time and it becomes a matter of waiting with a hope of a return date in sight. That is the situation with a top WWE star and it seems like we could be waiting for a long while. Randy Orton has not wrestled since the May 20 SmackDown, after which he was attacked by the Bloodline. The attack was designed to write him off of television as Orton was suffering from a back injury. According to PWInsider.com, Orton is still out of action with his back injury and there is nothing to suggest that he will be return soon. Orton has been referenced by Matt Riddle during his absence, with Riddle still using Orton’s offense during his matches. Opinion: That doesn’t sound like the greatest news in the world as Orton has already been out for nearly four months with no return in sight. Orton is one o..

August 11, 2022 • Admin

Dreams can come true. WWE has released a new video on its social media platforms in which Triple H offers 14 contracts to people who attended their tryouts in Nashville over SummerSlam weekend. You can see the video of the offers and the reactions below: [This post contains video, click to play] The names of the new signees are: Kennedy Cummins Gabrielle Dunn Rickssen Opont Alivia Ash Harleigh White Chukwusom Enekwechi Jade Gentile Anna Keefer Breanna Ruggiero Beau Morris Franki Strefling Hayden Pittman Lea Mitchell Kevin Ventura-Cortes The signings come after previous reports that this set of tryouts will be the last to focus on non-wrestlers, as there were several injuries due to the athletes not being experienced. The tryouts were reportedly described as a “disaster.” Therefore, the solution will be to bring in more independent wrestlers who are experienced in the ring. Editor’s Opinion: I love stuff like this. It’s always cool to see regular folks have an opportunity to real..

She’s An All Timer: Mickie James Hints At Retiring From The Ring

August 11, 2022 • Admin

That would be a big loss. There are certain people in wrestling who are legends in their own time and some of them have been trailblazers in the industry. These people are some of the bigger names in wrestling and it can be a special moment to see them get in the ring every now and then. Now though, we might not be seeing one of them wrestling anymore as she is teasing her retirement. Wrestling legend Mickie James has hinted at her retirement from the ring on Twitter. Before the tournament brackets were revealed, fan asked James if she was going to be Asuka’s partner in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title tournament. James responded by saying that she felt she was done in wrestling. Later, James responded to another fan who was praising her career, thanking them for their compliments and asking what else there was for her to accomplish in her career. James has been wrestling regularly this year, mostly in Impact Wrestling, where she was the Knockouts Champion from October 2021 until March ..

Another Wrestling Legend Preparing For His Final Match

August 10, 2022 • Admin

One more time? Last month, Ric Flair wrestled his last match in front of thousands of people in Nashville, Tennessee. That is the special kind of show that only a legend is going to get and Flair would certainly meet that criteria. While there are few names in wrestling on Flair’s level, there are several other legends who would be interested in one last hurrah and another has added his name to the list. WWE Hall of Famer the Honky Tonk Man, 69 years old, has announced that he is preparing for one more match, though no details have been given on the specifics. The tweet making the announcement shows Honky Tonk Man putting on his knee pads and smiling at the camera. Honky Tonk Man’s most recent match took place in November 2019 at the WildKat Revolution Rumble. HTM preparing for one more match! pic.twitter.com/lL50hWVPF9 — Honky Tonk Man® (@OfficialHTM) August 9, 2022 Opinion: While I can’t imagine Honky Tonk Man is going to get the same kind of platform that Flair is getting, I’m s..

Here Is One Longstanding Practice WWE Will Not Be Changing Anytime Soon

August 10, 2022 • Admin

He might not be on the list. There have been a lot of changes to WWE in recent months, with some various people being moved in, out of and around company. This includes some of the biggest names the company has every known and some of its mainstays. It has become a question of who will stick around, and now we know that one name, or at least his legacy, will likely be around for the time being. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE’s camera work and production style would not change even if longtime producer left the company immediately. While there is nothing to suggest that Dunn will be leaving anytime soon, there are said to be several people in the production department who like his style of zooming in and out or having the camera shake. There is no word on who would replace Dunn if he left. Opinion: There are a lot of things throughout WWE’s history that make little sense and keeping this style of directing is one of them. I’m not sure why that is seen as a positive as the ..

Ric Flair Reveals Serious Medical Issues He Had During His Last Match

August 10, 2022 • Admin

That’s not a good thing to hear. There are all kinds of legends in wrestling but it is fairly rare to see a legend getting to be in the ring again. It is even rarer for someone to be in the ring decades after they have reached that top level. That was the case last month when Ric Flair wrestled his last match at 73 years old. However, things did not go as planned multiple times during the match. During the latest edition of his To Be The Man podcast, Flair discussed his last match, revealing some health issues he had throughout the match. Flair revealed that he blacked out during the match twice, including standing on the apron and later in the match when he had been hit with a guitar. Flair said that before the match, he had not hydrated properly in order to cut weight and blamed the blackouts on a combination of nerves and dehydration. Following the match, Flair drank two bottles of Gatorade and was medically cleared. Opinion: Anytime a statement includes the idea of blacking out t..

Wrestling Legend Reveals He Occasionally Needs A Wheelchair Due To Health Issues

August 10, 2022 • Admin

That’s a horrible way to go. Wrestlers are quite the athletes and you see them getting in the ring week in and week out, putting all kinds of miles on their body. At some point that is going to cause some problems for everyone involved and there is not much of a way around it. That is the case for a wrestling legend, who is having some serious health issues in his retirement. During a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall Of Famer Mark Henry and AEW broadcaster Mark Henry revealed that he is not able to wrestle anymore due to nerve damage in his back. As a result of the nerve damage in his sacroiliac joint, Henry has had to occasionally take a wheelchair through the airport. While Henry’s doctor has told him that the issue could be fixed through surgery, Henry should wait until he can no longer walk and use surgery as his last resort. Opinion: That is never good to hear and it is sad to think of Henry, who was known for being such a big and strong wrestler, reduced to somethi..

Speculation About What Kind Of New Show AEW Could Be Developing

August 10, 2022 • Admin

They have a plan for that. AEW has been around for less than four years but already have four series a week. That shows how much talent the company has around, which is one of the company’s greatest strengths. They have been able to spread their roster around so much but now they might be taking a rather large group of wrestlers could be getting its own spotlight. Last month, AEW filed a trademark for a wrestling show called All Elite Women. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the show does not seem to be a reality show. The fact that the trademark was filed suggests that the show is likely to take place in some way. It is not clear if the show will be an ongoing series or a one off event, or when it will be taking place. Opinion: This has me intrigued as the women’s division has been a bit all over the place for AEW. What matters most is that the talent is there, but now the question becomes what happens to all of those wrestlers. Putting them on their own show co..

WATCH: The Rock Producing New Wrestling Documentary Series (TRAILER)

August 10, 2022 • Admin

That’s a new twist. Wrestling media has been changing a lot in recent years as more and more stories have been presented in one way or another. This has come in the form of books, films and television series, many of which are telling stories that have not been heard in a long time. Now we are in for another one which certainly sounds like it has some promise. According to Variety, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions will be producing a new wrestling documentary series called Tales From The Territories. The series will be from the same team that made Dark Side Of The Ring and will focus on stories from the territory days of wrestling. There is no word on what any episodes will cover. The series will debut on October 4 at 10PM EST on VICE TV. This has potential. Check out the trailer for the series: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is something that has some serious potential as Dark Side Of The Ring was a great series. I’m cur..

AEW Star Reveals He Is Out Of Action With Multiple Shoulder Injuries

August 10, 2022 • Admin

Another one on the list. There are all kinds of wrestling matches but some of them can be very dangerous. While there is always the chance that someone is going to get hurt in a regular match, there are ways to up the danger by adding some kind of stipulation. Unfortunately it seems that another star was injured in one of the more violent matches of the year. In a new YouTube video from JOFO In The Ring, AEW’s Matt Menard revealed that he suffered a shoulder injury during the Blood & Guts match on the June 29 Dynamite. Menard said that he has torn parts of his shoulder, labrum and rotator cuff, but he will be able to rehab the injuries and avoid surgery. The injury took place during a spot with Santana during the match. There is no word on how long Menard will be out of action, though he has been appearing on AEW TV in non-wrestling segments. Opinion: You never want to hear something like that and it is a shame that Menard will have to be out of action. He and Angelo Parker have show..

NXT Star Suffers Knee Injury, Out Of Action 4-6 Weeks

August 10, 2022 • Admin

It can happen to anyone. There are all kinds of injuries that can happen in any given wrestling match and that is never a good thing to see. The worst part of an injury can be waiting to find out just how bad things are because it could mean a very long time on the shelf. That seems to be the case again, but this time we have an idea for how long someone is going to be out. Last week’s NXT featured a Falls Count Anywhere match with Solo Sikoa defeating Von Wagner. This week’s NXT included a segment with Sikoa in the trainer’s room, where he was told he had a sprained PCL. As a result, Sikoa will be out of action for anywhere from four to six weeks. There is no word on if the injury is legitimate or part of a storyline for Sikoa. Opinion: That is never good to hear but what matters is that the injury could be a lot worse. A sprained PCL is a serious enough injury but he could be out a lot longer if things were that much more serious. Sikoa is someone who is being used well in NXT and ..

Vince McMahon Made Two Additional Payments Totaling $5 Million

August 10, 2022 • Admin

The saga continues. According to multiple reports, WWE has filed a new notice with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), claiming that they learned of two additional payments totaling $5 million that was paid by Vince McMahon. The filing claims that the payments are unrelated to the $14.6 million in “certain unrecorded expenses” that date back to 2006. This scandal played a huge part in McMahon stepping down as CEO of WWE and retiring. The filing reads as follows: “On June 17, 2022, World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (the “Company”) and its Board of Directors announced that a special committee of independent members of the Board of Directors (the “Special Committee”) was conducting an investigation into alleged misconduct by the Company’s former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Vincent K. McMahon, who resigned from all positions held with the Company on July 22, 2022 but remains a stockholder with a controlling interest, and another executive, who is also..

Update On Possible Changes To The WWE Clash At The Castle Main Event

August 10, 2022 • Admin

They might not be hitting the brakes. We are less than a month away from WWE Clash At The Castle, which will be one of the biggest shows that the company has run in a pretty long time. It will be the first stadium show in the United Kingdom in over thirty years and the show is going to need a big card. The main event has been set, and now we know an important detail about it. Clash At The Castle is scheduled to feature a main event of Drew McIntyre challenging Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title. The two had a faceoff last week on SmackDown, which was interrupted by the returning Karrion Kross. This led to speculation about Kross being added to the match, but according to Wrestling Observer Radio, Kross will not be added to the match. WWE officials feel that McIntyre vs. Reigns is the match that needs to headline the show. Opinion: I’m glad to hear about this as there is something a little annoying about having so many matches be a triple threat or multi person match...
