Ask Wrestling Rumors – June 9, 2018

This is a new thing we’re trying out here at Wrestling Rumors and with some luck, it could be a big hit. There is a lot to the history of wrestling, back well over a hundred years and all the way up to modern times. My name is Thomas Hall and I’ve seen a lot of wrestling. Like, a whole lot of wrestling. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over nine years now and in my career, I’ve reviewed over 5,000 wrestling shows. Those shows are part of a much bigger time spent watching wrestling, during which I’ve seen at least 55,000 wrestling matches. In other words, I’ve been around for a bit and know a thing or two about wrestling. Therefore, it might be fun to see if I can answer some questions you might have and that’s what we’re going to be doing here. Every week I’ll be posting a collection of questions and some detailed answer to each one, including either history, video evidence or whatever else is appropriate in the case. You all get to pick the questions and can ask them in the com..

CM Punk: Reality, Fantasy and Pro Wrestling Fans

CM Punk is heading back into the Octagon on Saturday, June 9 in a UFC fight against Mike Jackson. Punk’s focus is on the bout despite the rigors of his recent lawsuit . As The Second City Saint prepares both physically and mentally for the fight that is to come, fans are obviously asking the same question. Is CM Punk coming back to the world of professional wrestling? Much of the press that Punk did following the trial’s conclusion saw him giving a somewhat ambiguous answer to that very question. However as the day went on, his answer became an emphatic no.
Of course that comment is likely not going to prevent anyone from speculating on Punk’s potential future in the business. Despite Punk’s words to the contrary, the fact is people just cannot help but wonder “what if?” Part of that is human nature. But part of it is due to the pro wrestling industry itself and the inherent nature of fans to automatically distrust everything they see.
It’s difficult to blame fans for immediately sna..

Video: Seven Superstars Who Broke Their Faces In The Ring

Sometimes faces are good and sometimes they’re broken. Despite being something that can be planned out well in advance, wrestling is a violent sport. Every now and then you see something happen that wasn’t planned in advance and that can involve a face being damaged in the process. Some of these are much worse than others and can range from a broken nose to a horribly looking injury with blood everywhere and a ton of help needed. That sounds like something worth looking at to me.
Normally it’s not in the face, but these are all in the face.

WWE has released a new List This looking at seven superstars who have suffered some graphic facial injuries. These can result from shots to the face with knees or punches or a heavy metal object being knocked into someone’s face. The list has a variety of choices to look through and some of them are a lot more graphic than others. These do include a high amount of blood in some plac..

Here’s How WWE is Planning to Kill New Japan’s Move to the United States

The two biggest wrestling promotions in the world are World Wrestling Entertainment and New Japan Pro Wrestling. For decades, the two companies stuck to their side of the world and didn’t really challenge one another. However, the competition between them has escalated over the past few years and that is expected to continue for the next few.
Less than a month after Wrestle Kingdom 10, WWE signed Shinsuke Nakamura, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, and AJ Styles after the four men had left the promotion. Prince Devitt also became Finn Balor. Cody Rhodes and Chris Jericho are also making a major splash for New Japan. The two companies have shared a lot of talent over the years, but WWE officials are actually concerned about New Japan’s recent expansion into the US.

Here’s What WWE Has Planned For Dean Ambrose’s WWE Return

After The Lunatic Fringe went down with a tricep injury in December, the timetable for his return was nine months. He missed WrestleMania, but the WWE Universe is hopeful Dean Ambrose will make his WWE return for Summerslam. Depending on his recovery, it’s more likely for him to return to Raw the night after the biggest party of the summer.
Before his injury, the rumor was he would be turning heel before WrestleMania and his rivalry with Seth Rollins would rekindle. That obviously did not happen and Rollins has become the Intercontinental Champion. Meanwhile, the WWE Universe still isn’t sure when Ambrose will return to WWE, but we have a better idea of what he will be doing.

According to a new report from RingSideNews, most people are still expecting Ambrose to turn heel after his return to television. Brad Shepard believes The Lunatic Fringe will come back red-hot like Rollins did after missing seven months back in 2015. A lot of his..

Impact Wrestling Ratings And Viewership – June 7, 2018

So they’re better than WWE at the moment. The numbers for Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live have been terrible as of late and there’s really not much of another way to describe them. People just aren’t watching the shows, but what about Impact Wrestling? The show has been getting better (or at least less bad) and last week’s show was rather good. Last week was a major night for the company with a new World Champion being crowned, but the question becomes how well did the following week’s show do. Make sure to check out last night’s full results right here.
According to 411mania.com, this week’s episode of Impact Wrestling drew a .07 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 289,000 viewers. These numbers are up 16% and 5% from last week’s .06 demographic rating and 283,000 viewers. The audience is the best since the May 17 show drew 329,000 viewers. This week’s show was headlined by an unsanctioned street fight in the woods between Eddie Edwards and Sami Callihan.
Miss last night’s show?..

Rumor: John Cena Causing Major Problems Between Daniel Bryan and WWE

Last week, it was reported that Daniel Bryan was asking for a “reasonable amount of creative control” in his new contract with WWE. The latest update claims WWE officials have offered him a three years extension, but Bryan hasn’t signed a new deal just yet.
According to a report from DirtySheets, John Cena could be causing some major issues between Bryan and WWE officials. Apparently, Cena advised him to hire ICM Partners to negotiate his contract extension with the company. ICM Partners are telling Bryan to begin negotiations asking for as much as possible before re-signing with the company.

The expectation for Bryan is the extension will be his final deal with WWE. As a result, he’s looking to get a lot more money and perks, especially since he had to fight for over two years just to get back into the ring. More importantly, WWE officials know Bryan has options outside of the company and could wrestle anywhere ..

Main Event Results – June 7, 2018

Main Event
Date: June 7, 2018
Location: Toyota Center, Houston, Texas
Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Percy Watson, Vic Joseph
I’m actually more interested than usual in this show based on how different this week’s television shows went. Monday Night Raw was such a disaster while Smackdown was a perfectly watchable wrestling show. I’m not sure how they’re going to pull off a highlight show when almost nothing interesting was going on Monday but they’ve pulled off something similar before. Let’s get to it.
Here are last week’s results if you need a recap.
Opening sequence.
No Way Jose vs. Mike Kanellis They fight over a lockup to start and Jose scores with a hiptoss. Some forearms in the corner have Jose in trouble and we hit the chinlock. Back up and Kanellis takes way too much time yelling at the conga line and Jose is back up with a clothesline. A superkick gives Kanellis too (with a blown kiss) but Jose’s pop up right hand is good for the pin at 5:11. Resul..

Here’s When Rey Mysterio Could Return to WWE Programming

The WWE Universe was pleasantly surprised to see Rey Mysterio return to WWE for the 2018 Royal Rumble Match. A lot of people were disappointed his appearance was only a one-off. Shortly afterward, he returned to wrestle for New Japan Pro Wrestling and will be ‘All In’ this September. However, there’s still a chance Mysterio will return to WWE.
Wrestling Observer Live has reported that WWE officials are talking with Rey about his return to the company. There’s some speculation that he could be for Summerslam in August. Dave Meltzer claims that Mysterio’s schedule is full through the summer, so it’s more likely he could return to the company in September after he’s ‘All In’ in Chicago.

Major Update Regarding John Cena’s WWE Return Revealed

Over the past few weeks, John Cena has been in the news for his recent break-up with Nikki Bella. It’s been reported that the couple is reunited, but their private life has been the focus as of late for Cena and there hasn’t been a lot of news about his WWE return.
He’s gone on record to say that he’s not done with the company, but he hasn’t been seen on WWE programming since being dominated by The Undertaker at WrestleMania. The WWE Universe isn’t expecting him until Summerslam, but he may be back a bit earlier.

According to a report from RingSideNews, the sixteen-time WWE Champion is currently filming the final touches on Bumblebee, a spin-off of the Transformers series, and then it seems his schedule is open for a return to WWE television before Money in the Bank.
Nothing is confirmed because Cena could have another movie to film, or he might need some time to tend to his personal life. However, it’s plausible for him to retu..

Here’s Why WWE Officials Refuse to Push Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan’s in-ring return elated the WWE Universe, but some fans are disappointed with his booking. There’s a good chance he’ll qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match tonight on SmackDown Live. Fans love getting to see Bryan wrestle AJ Styles and Samoa Joe inside a WWE ring. However, some people believe he should be doing more.
According to RingSideNews, the former WWE Champion still has not signed a new deal with the company. As a result, WWE officials are keeping his plans tentative until that changes. Despite overwhelming popularity, Bryan will remain stuck in WWE’s midcard.

Here’s Why Vince McMahon Has Lost Interest in Bobby Roode

During his time on SmackDown Live, Bobby Roode became a babyface and eventually won the United States Championship. The WWE Universe was expecting more from him with WWE, but his move to Raw after WrestleMania 34 seemed to be another chance.
He’s set to participate in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, but no one is expecting him to win the briefcase. It seems that his fans should not expect anything bigger and better from Roode in the future. Apparently, Vince McMahon has lost interest in him.

During his feud with Dolph Ziggler, The Boss compared the crowd response to his entrance to The Show Off’s.
