More Than One? Surprising Note On Upcoming AEW Match

I wouldn’t have bet on it. One of the best things about AEW is their roster, which has a great mixture of different kinds of wrestlers. AEW has all kinds of wrestlers, including up and coming stars, modern stars and veterans, all of whom come together in a way like almost nothing else. Now the company is planning for a feud between a few different generations. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured a segment where Darby Allin said that he wanted a match. The Gunn Club appeared, with Billy Gunn challenging Allin to a match. Allin accepted, with the match being set for some time in the future. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, this will not be a one off match, as the match will be the start of a feud between Allin and Billy’s sons Colton and Austin. This is going to be different. How Chris Jericho Lost Over $100,000 On Wrestling And Then Got It Back

It can happen to…well probably just Jericho. There are certain stars in wrestling who are always doing something different. For some reason, they do not stick with the norm and are constantly finding some way to reinvent themselves. It can be fascinating to see what they think of next, but that does not mean it is always going to work. That was certainly the case with one first’s try at an idea. During a recent episode of his Talk Is Jericho podcast, Chris Jericho revealed that he lost six figures of money on his first Jericho cruise. The cruise, called the Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager At Sea, launched in October 2018 and featured a variety of concerts, wrestling and appearances, with Jericho footing the bill for paying everyone. The financial setup was changed for the second cruise, which allowed him to make up the loss and earn a profit. Jericho is planning his fourth cruise in the spring of 2022. The cruise was certainly different. Check out how it has gone over the years: [This post..

WATCH: Hangman Page Sings A Special Song After AEW Dynamite

It comes with the territory. There is something special about being the World Champion, as it means you are the face of your company. You are the first person that a lot of fans are going to think of for the promotion and the responsibilities mount up in a hurry. This is the case with both on the road and at any show, and that was the case for the newest World Champion this week. Last weekend, Hangman Page defeated Kenny Omega to become the new AEW World Champion at Full Gear. Page made his Dynamite debut as champion this week, where he got into a confrontation with #1 contender Bryan Danielson. Following the taping, CM Punk came to the ring and had Page sing “cowboy songs”, including an altered version of Country Roads Take Me Home, which you can see below. This is one of those awesome things you don’t get to see every week. Check out the song, plus what else Page can do: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains vide..

WWE Tried To Bring In A Former Impact Wrestling Champion

It’s not for everyone. While it might not be the most popular at times, there is no denying that WWE is the biggest wrestling promotion in the world. The promotion is still the end goal for a lot of wrestlers, with several of them working as hard as they can to make it to the big leagues. That is not the case for everyone though, and that was the case with a fairly prominent name from outside the company. During a recent edition of her Wilde On podcast, former Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champions Taylor Wilde revealed that she was contacted by WWE to appear in the first Mae Young Classic. Wilde had been retired from the ring for six years but agreed to return to the ring for the chance. However, she got injured in training, meaning that she was unable to return to the ring. Wilde never appeared for WWE but did return to Impact Wrestling earlier this year, ending her ten year retirement. It makes sense that WWE would want Wilde on their roster. Check out what she can do in the ring: ..

Update On WWE’s Plans For Another Big Change

They’re still changing. We are in the middle of one of the biggest transitional periods that WWE has ever seen and those changes are likely to continue. The changes so far have shaken things up in such a huge way and some of them have brought longstanding eras to an end. That will be the case again next year, but it is not going to be in an area many fans will get to see. Back in March of 2019, WWE announced plans to move from its longtime home base of Titan Towers in Stanford, Connecticut. The move was delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but now the plans have been updated. The Stamford Advocate is reporting that WWE is planning to move into its new headquarters in downtown Stamford in late 2022. WWE is moving to the larger building for more space and better technological capabilities. WWE has been in that building for a long time. Check out what they are leaving behind: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains..

KB’s Review: Long Term Success

Wrestling can be a lot of things, ranging from action to athleticism to drama to comedy to suspense to romance and probably even more things that I’m forgetting. What it all boils down to though is telling a story, and that’s where the real interest comes from. The matches themselves really are secondary to the stories that are being told to make them interesting, and that is where we’re picking things up today. Last weekend, AEW held its latest great pay per view with Full Gear, which was headlined by Hangman Page finally ending Kenny Omega’s World Title reign after the better part of a year. These two have a very long and detailed history which goes all the way back to before AEW even came into existence. That is a lot of history and this particular story had all kinds of details included. The title change was the grand culmination, but is that the best way to go? One of the things that both AEW and its fans pride themselves on it its long term storytelling. The company goes out of..

AEW Has A New Top Villain After Dynamite Turn

Change of plans. There are a lot of ways to present a wrestler, but at times it is clear that something needs to be changed. That can be done in a variety of ways, but one of the easiest is by turning them either good or bad. These changes can be out of nowhere or over time, and both kinds can be very effective. We saw one of the former this week and it worked pretty well. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite opened with Hangman Page’s celebration for winning the AEW World Title. Page was eventually interrupted by new #1 contender Bryan Danielson, who was not pleased that Page defeated Kenny Omega. Danielson went on to insult both Page and the crowd, turning into a villain for the first time in his AEW tenure. There is no word on when Danielson vs. Page will take place. This could be a very dangerous change. Check out what Danielson can do in the ring before he went to the dark side: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post co..

WATCH: “Stone Cold” Steve Austin vs. The Rock From WrestleMania 19 (XIX)

The third time’s a charm. WWE has posted a new video to their YouTube channel, which shows the full match between “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and The Rock from WrestleMania 19. It was the third match between the two on the “grandest stage of them all.” You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] As mentioned, this was the third meeting between the two WWE legends at WrestleMania. Austin had been victorious at WrestleMania 14 and 17; however, The Rock was able to pick up the victory in this final contest between the two. This match was a classic and sent each superstar on their own separate journey. Editor’s Opinion: Oh man, do I remember this one. The Rock was playing an arrogant, Hollywood heel, who was constantly badmouthing the fans and singing songs about how much he hated being in the various towns that he was in. It was during this time that he even had a brief encounter with “The Hurricane” that was absolutely hilarious! These two a..

AEW Dynamite Live Coverage And Results – November 17, 2021

Dynamite Date: November 17, 2021 Location: Chartway Arena, Norfolk, Virginia Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross We’re done with Full Gear and Hangman Page is FINALLY the AEW World Champion. To say this is a long time coming is an understatement but now we get to see where things go from here. That could be in a variety of directions but this week is all about the big celebration. We have a long way to go before Revolution next year so let’s get to it. We open with a Full Gear recap. The Elite is in the back and Kenny Omega is rather sad. He hasn’t watched the match with Hangman Page back but he knows he has some things to fix. Omega wants them to hold the fort down while he’s gone and Adam Cole says they’ve got it. Omega just meant the Bucks though and they walk off. This would be the write off for Omega so he can go have shoulder surgery. The Dark Order is in the ring and here is Hangman Page, in a Virginia Is For Lovers shirt. Fans: “YOU DESERVE IT!” Page: “I’m gon..

REVIEW: Survivor Series 2013: The Dark Ages

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Survivor Series 2013 Date: November 24, 2013 Location: TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts Attendance: 13,500 Commentators: Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, John Bradshaw Layfield It’s the final show before the 2014 edition and for the most part I have no idea what happens here. If I remember right it’s something about Orton and then Reigns destroying a bunch of people. It kind of amazes me how easy the last year is to forget while I could snap off the main event of almost every PPV 2005 or so. Let’s get to it. Pre-Show:..

You Might Not Be Seeing Kenny Omega For A Good While

It might be a bit. Injuries are one of the few universals in the wrestling world. No matter how experienced or talented a wrestler may be, there is always the chance that they are going to suffer some sort of an injury. It might come all at once or be built up over time, but it is always a possibility. That is the case in for a rather prominent star, and he might be gone for awhile. According to PWInsider.com, former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega may be missing an extended period of time due to injuries. Omega is likely to undergo shoulder surgery and there is no word on how long he will be out, assuming he does undergo the procedure. Omega lost the AEW World Title to Hangman Page in the main event of last weekend’s Full Gear pay per view. AEW would miss Omega if he has to go away. Check out what he can do while he is around: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is never a g..

RUMOR KILLER On AEW’s Women’s Division Being Limited

That’s a different take for AEW. The Women’s Revolution has changed the way women’s wrestling works in a very positive way. After years of women’s wrestling having next to no value whatsoever, it is now treated as something with value throughout the wrestling world. It is fascinating to see how far it has come, but what if someone with some more pull does not like it as much? Fightful Select has an update on WarnerMedia’s, the parent company of TNT and TBS, stance on women’s wrestling on AEW television. Last year, a rumor began circulating that WarnerMedia had only allowed one women’s match on any show on their networks. According to Fightful Select, there was no such rule ever handed down and there was no request or suggestion about less women’s wrestling to AEW. All that WarnerMedia cares about is “good content” and having high social or TV ratings. WWE Star Lands Regular Role On ABC Series

It’s a bonus. Wrestlers are a lot of things, but to outsiders, they are often called actors who are pretending to do a lot of things on any given show. Somehow that rarely turns into success in the acting world, though every now and then you see someone getting a chance to show what they can do in Hollywood. Now it seems that we will be seeing that again with a prominent WWE star. Former WWE Champion and current SmackDown star Jinder Mahal has announced that he will be appearing as a regular character on ABC’s series Big Sky. The show airs every Thursday night at 10pm EST, with Mahal playing a character named Dhruv. Mahal’s first appearance will be on November 18 and he says he will be appearing on the show every week. The Maharaja has joined the cast of @BigSkyABC season 2 as Dhruv. Starting Tomorrow and every Thurs at 10/9C PM on @ABCNetwork and @hulu. #bigskyabc pic.twitter.com/ptarZWqkXm — The Maharaja (@JinderMahal) November 17, 2021 Mahal is certainly a star in WWE. Tribute To The Troops 2021 Results

Tribute to the Troops 2021 Date: November 14, 2021 Location: Toyota Arena, Ontario, California Commentators: Michael Cole, Pat McAfee It’s time for the big patriotic show, which is actually taking place closer to Thanksgiving this time around instead of the usual Christmas season. This one is airing on FOX to make it feel even bigger, though it is just a one hour edition which was taped last month at Smackdown. In other words, they don’t seem to be putting in as much effort this year. Let’s get to it. Lilian Garcia sings the National Anthem. Video on the troops and what this show means to WWE. Big E. vs. Dolph Ziggler Non-title and commentary does give a brief recap of their history. Robert Roode is here with Ziggler and dig those red, white and blue ropes. Big E. powers out of a waistlock to start and sends Ziggler flying, setting up some gyrations. A kick to the ribs slows Big E. down and Ziggler gyrates a bit as well. That just earns him the abdominal stretch with rhythmic shots..

Monday Night Raw Might Be Getting Two New NXT Callups

That’s kind of the point. NXT is one of the most unique wrestling shows in the world, as it is not only its own show but also the official developmental territory for WWE. There are only so many things that a wrestler can do there without being ready to be called up to the main roster. That can make for some interesting moments, as a promotion can make for a rather special moment. Now we might be seeing some new promotions. Two NXT names seem to have been called up to the main roster. Referee Aja Smith has appeared on Monday Night Raw in recent weeks, including refereeing this week’s match between Bianca Belair and Tamina. In addition, backstage interviewer McKenzie Mitchell has posted a photo to Twitter, showing her backstage at Monday Night Raw. There is no word on if these callups are permanent or just tryouts. Must be Monday #WWERaw pic.twitter.com/qPhyqzuWDP — McKenzie Mitchell (@mckenzienmitch) November 16, 2021 A main roster debut can be quite the moment. Check out some of t..

Redditors Share Their Very “Worst” Ideas For WWE/AEW And It’s Hilarious

Say that again? Wrestling has a long history of outlandish ideas, including Robocop making an appearance, a walking/dancing turkey and a beer swilling redneck from Texas who fancied beating up his boss. Sometimes the zaniest ideas can come from the fans themselves. Redditor u/anonymouspotatoskins recently asked, “What’s the worst idea you’ve had lately but too afraid to share?” Commentors weighed in and thousands of fans upvoted their favorite of the “worst” ideas. Brock Lesnar Channels His Inner IRS IMG Credit: WWE There may be no one more intimidating in the wrestling world than Brock Lesnar. The Beast Incarnate has destroyed almost everyone he has come into contact with over the years, mainly as other worldly strong former amateur wrestling champion. That has worked very well, but what if he had another interest? Lesnar has a reputation of being out to make as much money as possible, and Redditor Tom_Dynamite would like to see that get a sharper focus. He suggests, “Brock becomes..

WATCH: Popular Star Gets Major Change To His Look

That’s a big change. A wrestler’s look is one of the most important parts of their entire presentation. You can get a lot of people’s attention by having someone look so different that they can’t turn away. That can be a good or a bad thing, but having someone change their look can be rather jarring. That was the case this week, and it wasn’t exactly something positive. This week’s edition of NXT included a poker showdown between Duke Hudson and Cameron Grimes. After Hudson lost the game when Grimes bluffed him, he attacked Grimes and pulled out a pair of scissors. Hudson cut Grimes’ beard and hair, which comes after rumors of Grimes getting a new look from a few weeks ago. There is no word on if Grimes’ look will be changed again. It was a big change. Check out what happened, plus some of Grimes’ better moments: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I’m scared of what this is goin..

AEW Full Gear Finish Changed Due To Injury, Possible Heat On Wrestler

They might have a point. There are so many things going on at a wrestling show that it can be hard to keep track of everything. This includes during every match, as some of them are a lot faster pace than others. One constant throughout the matches though is the possibility of someone getting hurt. That was the case over the weekend and it has landed someone in some hot water. Last weekend’s AEW Full Gear event featured a match between the Lucha Bros and FTR. About ten minutes into the match, Dax Harwood was legitimately knocked out by Rey Fenix, leaving Cash Wheeler to face the Lucha Bros on his own. According to Fightful Select, some of the AEW locker room is not happy with Fenix for failing to check on Harwood after the match, as it is considered common courtesy. There is no word on how bad Harwood may be hurt, though there is also nothing to suggest he will miss ring time. The ending to the match was also changed, as Harwood was supposed to be involved as part of the illegal man b..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE TV Show May Be Returning To TV-14

Like the old days? NXT has been changed in a big way over the last few months and that very well may continue to be the case. The roster is almost unrecognizable since its relaunch in September and there is nothing to suggest that WWE is done shaking it up. However, we might even be in for another huge shakeup, which some fans have been wanting to see for a long time now. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, the original plan for the NXT 2.0 relaunch would have called for NXT to switch from TV-PG to TV-14. There is still a chance that this could happen in the future as the USA Network has signed off on the idea. However, it is not clear if WWE wants to go through with the change. If they decide to do so, it is not clear when the change would be or how long it would take. Within the origins of this NXT 2.0 concept was an idea that the programs rating would shift from TV-PG to TV-14. Source confirms that’s still very much on the table and USA Network is not opposed. If / when..

WATCH: We Have Most Of A WarGames Match

That would be a big one. We are on the way to the next big NXT event with WarGames on December 5. While it is not a Takeover event, it seems it will be having all makings of one of them. This includes theshow’s namesake match, which could make for some interesting changes. The NXT roster has been decimated by changes and injuries but now we might know something big on the horizon. This week’s NXT featured a main event of Dakota Kai vs. Raquel Gonzalez. When Gonzalez seemed to have the match won, Toxic Attraction interfered to cause the disqualification. This led to Cora Jade and Io Shirai making the save. After the ring was cleared, Shirai issued the challenge for a WarGames match, though it has yet to be made official. There is no word on who would team with Shirai and Gonzalez. This was a big moment. Check out the brawl plus what WarGames looks like: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] ..
