WWE Legend Returned To Main Roster As A Producer Last Week

Welcome back. While the wrestlers are certainly the most prominent part of a wrestling show, there are a lot of people who work behind the scenes to put the show together. Those people are often names you have heard of before and that is certainly the case in WWE today. The wrestlers need someone to help make their matches work and now the main roster is getting someone old yet new. According to Fightful Select, Finlay produced the dark match from last week’s SmackDown, which featured NXT stars Wes Lee and Sanga. This was Finlay’s first time producing a match on the main roster since he returned from a furlough in November 2020. Since then, he has been working in NXT and there is no word on if he will be a producer on the main roster going forward. Opinion: Finlay is one of those names who fits in perfectly what this job so if WWE is giving him another try, they are at least thinking smart. He has been around forever and knows what he is doing, so let him use what he knows and teach ..

Switch: Here’s What Finn Balor Turning On Edge Means Behind The Scenes In WWE

He’s on the other side. There are a lot of different ways to present a wrestler but ultimately it boils down to them being good or evil. While you can have varying degrees either way, what matters most is that someone is on one side or the other. It can mean a lot when someone changes sides, and that apparently was the case this week, even if it wasn’t all that clear. This week on Monday Night Raw, Finn Balor joined Edge’s Judgment Day stable, only to immediately turn on Edge and have the team beat him down. According to PWInsider.com, following the turn, Edge is now officially considered a babyface backstage in WWE. There is no word on when he will be back in the ring following the attack or who he will be facing first. Opinion: This absolutely feels like a quick change to balance out the loss of Cody Rhodes and that is not a bad idea. Edge is someone the fans will cheer no matter what so letting him feud with people like Balor and Damian Priest is a good idea. If nothing else, Edge..

Wrestling Legend And AEW Manager Says MJF’s Promo “Made Me Sick”

Put him down as not a fan. There are certain promos and interviews which resonate with fans for one reason or another. It might be the delivery, it might be the context and it might be what is being said, but sometimes it can be everything coming together. That was the case with a promo last week, but it seems that one wrestling legend was certainly not impressed. Last week on AEW Dynamite, Maxwell Jacob Friedman cut a promo bashing AEW President Tony Khan and the company as a whole. The promo followed Friedman no showing a scheduled meet and greet over Double Or Nothing weekend. During the latest edition of his Snake Pit podcast, Jake Roberts said that the promo “made me sick” and said the bomb that it dropped in the locker room will have repercussions. Opinion: I’m curious to see where this goes, but I am a bit more interested in the fact that Roberts, who works for AEW, is so curious to see how the locker room responds. Roberts is someone who has been around for a long time and kn..

FOX Gives WWE Some Great SmackDown News

Stick around. WWE is the biggest wrestling company in the world and has its hands in all kinds of things. Above all else though, their biggest method of exposure is television. With two national television deals for Monday Night Raw and SmackDown, it is easy to see WWE programming if you want to. Now we know that will continue to be the case for an even longer time to come. In a press release by way of 411mania.com, the FOX Network has announced that SmackDown will be returning for the 2022-23 television season. The show will remain in its current time slot, meaning that it will continue to air on the network in the same way for a fourth year. WWE and FOX began a broadcasting agreement in 2019, with the teal set to expire in 2024. There was nothing to suggest that a change was coming. Opinion: That’s good to hear, as WWE airing SmackDown on FOX is one of the best things that it has going. In addition to the prestige of having a show on broadcast television, there is also the fact tha..

VIDEO: Former Champion Makes Surprise Return To NXT After Six Year Absence

Welcome back. With such a large roster in WWE, it can be easy to forget what to do with some of them. That includes getting them on television, as there are only five hours a week between Monday Night Raw and SmackDown, but there is a third option. That would be NXT, which offers two more hours worth of spots to WWE stars. Now we get to see another one of those stars on NXT TV. This week on NXT, Apollo Crews made a surprise return to the show, confronting Bron Breakker, who was asking who would be the next challenger to his NXT Title. The two shook hands out of respect and no match was set. Crews also teamed with Solo Sikoa to defeat Grayson Waller and Carmelo Hayes in the main event. That match was Crews’ first in NXT since 2016, though it is not clear how long he will be staying. In addition, Crews had dropped his Nigerian royalty character and was appearing as his normal self. Homecoming. Check out Crews’ return and match: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post co..

NXT Results – June 7, 2022

NXT Date: June 7, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Wade Barrett, Vic Joseph We’re fresh off In Your House and the show came with a few changes. The North American and Tag Team Titles changed hands so there is some fresh blood in the gold scene around here. This week’s features the finals of the Women’s Breakout Tournament as Tiffany Stratton faces Roxanne Perez. Let’s get to it. We open with a match by match recap of In Your House. Here is new North American Champion Carmelo Hayes, with Trick Williams, for a chat. Hayes is really happy to have the title back and gives Cameron Grimes credit for a tough fight on Saturday. He brags about his greatness, but here is Solo Sikoa to interrupt. Sikoa says he has next, but Hayes says that deal was with Grimes, not the new champ. Now it’s Grayson Waller to interrupt, saying it doesn’t matter who Sikoa’s family is because no one cares or likes him. The brawl is on, with Sikoa being taken down by some tripl..

AEW’s Cable Partners Ban MJF From Advertising Over Recent Promo

I think he struck a nerve. Talking is one of most important abilities a wrestler can have, if not the very most important. Wrestlers can get in the ring and have a good match, but it takes something special to get fans invested in what is going on. That is where a great promo can come in, which was the case last week. It just might have been a little bit too great for some people. Last week on AEW Dynamite, Maxwell Jacob Friedman gave an interview where he erupted on AEW as well as AEW President Tony Khan. Friedman talked about not being happy with his spot in the company or how he was being treated and at one point was censored. According to PWInsider.com, an edict has been issued at Warner Brothers Discovery ordering that Friedman be removed from all material promoting AEW, with different clips being used in their place. There is no word on how long Friedman could be removed from the footage or when he might appear on AEW TV again. Opinion: I’m not entirely sure what is going on he..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE’s Backstage Reaction To Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins

It deserves some praise. Every so often, you see a match that catches your attention for all of the right reasons. The whole thing comes together so well that it is impossible to not like it for almost every possible aspect. Those are the matches that will be remembered for a long time to come and now it has happened again, with even WWE getting in on the match’s praise. The main event of this Sunday’s Hell In A Cell pay per view saw Cody Rhodes defeat Seth Rollins in the show’s namesake match. Rhodes wrestled the match with a torn pectoral muscle, leaving him injured throughout. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, those at WWE’s Gorilla position were said to have “loved” the match and seen it as a modern classic, which WWE will treat it as going forward. I’ve had multiple sources reach out this morning w/ exemplary words for the performance Cody Rhodes put in last night. Credit to Seth Rollins as well. Those at Gorilla were said to have LOVED the match. A modern day, all ..

Pair Them Up: WWE Teases New Team On Monday Night Raw

That’s a way to go. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it can be difficult to find a way to present everyone in one way or another. One of the best possible options is to pair wrestlers together in a team, as multiple wrestlers are able to appear at the same time. While it has not been made official, WWE seemed to tease a new pairing this week on Monday Night Raw. The main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw was a four way match to crown a new #1 contender to the Raw Women’s Title, featuring Doudrop, Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss and Liv Morgan. During the match, Morgan and Bliss worked together multiple times, prompting WWE to send out a series of tweets talking about their teamwork. This included asking fans to name the pairing and mentioning their teamwork. There is nothing official about the two becoming a team, though WWE did mention that a tournament for the vacant Women’s Tag Team Titles was coming in the near future. Prepare for trouble. And make it double.@YaOnlyLivvOnce..

REVIEW: Money In The Bank 2020: Like Never Before

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Money In The Bank 2020 Date: May 10, 2020 Location: WWE Performance Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Samoa Joe, Byron Saxton, Tom Phillips It’s a special event this time around as the majority of the show will be taking place in the Performance Center but the two ladder matches, taking place at the same time because reasons, are to be held at WWE Headquarters in Connecticut. This could be anywhere between a disaster or fascinating, or perhaps a combination of both. Let’s get to it..

Run It Back: WWE May Be Running A WrestleMania 38 Rematch At Summerslam

They might have an idea. We are officially into the summer season for WWE shows and that means WWE should have long since had some plans for its upcoming major events. This includes Summerslam, which is the biggest show WWE presents all summer. The show is still over a month away, but WWE does have a possible plan, at least for one of its higher profile matches. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE may be considering a WrestleMania 38 rematch between Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Title. Lynch returned from maternity leave at last year’s Summerslam and beat Belair in less than a minute before Belair defeated her in a rematch earlier this year at WrestleMania 38. No matches have been announced for Summerslam so far. Opinion: Is there really no other match that WWE can present for this show? Belair vs. Lynch has already happened multiple times and while it was very good, I could go for seeing someone else getting a chance in the titles scene. Ly..

Important Injury Update On AEW’s Adam Cole

He’s worth the wait. Every now and then, you will see a string of injuries in wrestling and it can slow down any promotion. You never want to see someone go on the shelf for any reason but it can be even worse when it slows things down for the entire promotion. That is the case again with AEW at the moment, though at least this time we might have an idea of when one name will be back. Last week, reports surfaced that AEW’s Adam Cole had suffered some sort of an injury. As a result, Cole was removed from a ten man tag on last week’s edition of Dynamite. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Cole will be out of action until around Forbidden Door on June 26. It is not clear if he will be wrestling on the show, though he has never been announced for a match. Opinion: The fact that Cole is likely only going to be out for about a month rather than several months is quite the good sign as this could be a lot worse. You never know how bad an injury is going to be at the start so thankfully ..

Start The Card: First Title Match Set For WWE Money In The Bank

There’s one. We are now done with Hell In A Cell, meaning Money In The Bank is right around the corner. The next major WWE pay per view is in less than a month and the show is going to need to be a big one. WWE knows to put on a special show and they have already started setting up the card, as a first title match was set for the show this very week. This week on Monday Night Raw, Rhea Ripley won a fatal four way match to become the new #1 contender for the Raw Women’s Title. As a result, Ripley will be challenging Bianca Belair for the title at Monday In The Bank on July 2. Ripley defeated Liv Morgan, Alexa Bliss and Doudrop to gain the title shot, pinning Doudrop with the Riptide in the show’s main event. Opinion: This is the way you build a show as WWE wasted no time in setting up a fresh title match for the pay per view. That alone is more than you could say for a lot of Hell In A Cell so it is nice to see things getting off on the right foot. WWE has a lot of work left to do to ..

NXT UK Results – June 2, 2022

NXT UK Date: June 2, 2022 Location: BT Sports Studios, London, England Commentators: Andy Shepherd, Nigel McGuinness It’s time for another title match as the Tag Team Titles are up for grabs, this time in a triple threat. Moustache Mountain will be defending against Die Familie and Ashton Smith/Oliver Carter, the latter of whom has been on quite the roll lately. Other than that, we could be in for a bit of anything so let’s get to it. The opening video looks at the Tag Team Title match and how the teams all want to leave with the belts. Opening sequence. Sam Gradwell vs. Von Wagner Wagner gets the better of a slugout to start and some elbow drops have Gradwell breathing rather deeply. A fall away slam drops Gradwell again as commentary puts over Wagner as much as they can. The crossface chickenwing is broken up so Wagner knees him in the back to cut him off again. Gradwell fights out of a bearhug but gets put right back in it just a few seconds later. The second comeback works a bi..

Huge Shakeup To WWE Stable, Original Member Out And New Member In

Well that’s different. Stables are one of the best ideas in wrestling as they allow several wrestlers to get television time on a regular basis. Sometimes it is the only way for a wrestler to be able to make a show and the idea has worked for a very long time. That is the case again in WWE, but now the team has been completely shaken up in a way that might not have been expected. This week’s Monday Night Raw featured Judgment Day announcing that Finn Balor was joining the team. However, Balor, Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley turned on Edge, the founder of the team, and beat him down. Edge was hit with a Conchairto to leave him laying. There is no word on the future of the team or how long Edge might be out of action as a result. Opinion: That’s certainly a curve ball and that is not a bad thing. I haven’t been wild on Judgment Day so far but I can go with having Balor get something else to do, as he has been kind of stuck doing the same things over and over again for a long time. Maybe..

BREAKING: John Cena Officially Set For WWE Return

There’s your return. There are certain stars who are bigger than just about everyone else and there is no way to hide it. You do not see too many of them throughout WWE history but you certainly know one when you see them. That is the case in modern WWE as well and now one of the biggest stars in the history of the company will be making a return to television. John Cena’s return to WWE was announced this week on Monday Night Raw. Cena will be returning on the June 27 Monday Night Raw from Laredo, Texas. The show is the final episode before Money in the Bank, though it is not clear what Cena will be doing. This will be Cena’s first appearance since August 2021, when he lost to Roman Reigns in the main event of Summerslam. Opinion: This is one of those things that could change a lot for WWE, if nothing else for the sake of growing the audience. Cena is one of the few names who is a bigger star than anyone else on the roster no matter what he is doing and there is always the chance tha..

Monday Night Raw Date: June 6, 2022 Location: Resch Center, Green Bay, Wisconsin Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton We are done with Hell In A Cell and that means we are done with Cody Rhodes for the time being. Rhodes defeated Seth Rollins in the main event last night but did so with a torn pectoral muscle. We won’t be seeing him for a long time, so now the question is what happens on the road to Money In The Bank. I’m sure that song will ensue. Let’s get to it. NXT LVL Up Results – June 3, 2022

NXT LVL Up Date: June 3, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Sudu Shah The normal trend of this show is likely to continue this week as we have three more matches between people who aren’t usually going to make it to NXT proper. That can make for some acceptable background noise but rarely much more than that unfortunately. You get used to the concept though so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Fallon Henley vs. Brooklyn Barlow They go to the mat to start and it’s a pair of standoffs before Henley grabs the armbar. An exchange of rollups get two each and Barlow wants her to bring it. Back up and they fight over a lockup until Barlow starts working on the arm instead. She cranks on the neck as well but Henley fights out with a faceplant. A running knee finishes for Henley 4:22. Result: Fallon Henley b. Brooklyn Barlow – Running knee (4:22) Tatum Paxley vs. Sloane Jacobs They grapple around to start with neither being able to ge..

Impact Wrestling Results – June 2, 2022

Impact Wrestling Date: June 2, 2022 Location: Osceola Heritage Park, Kissimmee, Florida Commentator: Tom Hannifan We’re closing in on Slammiversary and in this case that means even more Eric Young. I’m not sure what that is going to mean, but the good thing is that things haven’t been too terrible so far. Young is set to challenge Josh Alexander for the World Title at Slammiversary but the show needs some more buildup first. Let’s get to it. The opening recap looks at last week’s main event, with Violent By Design beating Josh Alexander and the Briscoes. We get a new opening sequence, complete with a THIS IS TNA voiceover, albeit set to the current roster. Mia Yim vs. Savannah Evans Deonna Purrazzo is on commentary and Tasha Steelz is here with Evans. The entrances let commentary explain the still rather complicated Queen Of The Mountain rules. Yim fires off knees to start and sends Evans down early. Evans is right back with a DDT for two as Purrazzo talks about how she never neede..

WWE Announces The Return Of A Classic Series As A One Off Special

Add it to the calendar. There are all kinds of special shows running throughout the WWE calendar, as the company has long since gone with a series of shows that have history behind them. This can make for some nice moments, as a show can continue in the path that has been set over its previous years. That will be the case again next month as WWE is bringing back a classic. Over the weekend at NXT In Your House, an announcement was made that the Great American Bash would be returning on Tuesday July 5 as a special episode of the NXT TV show. This will be the third straight year that the Great American Bash has taken place in NXT in July. The Great American Bash was originally a series of NWA events, then a regular WCW and WWE pay per view before becoming an occasional WWE TV special. Mark your calendars! #NXTIYH #WWENXT pic.twitter.com/nLJDWkoeXR — WWE NXT (@WWENXT) June 5, 2022 Opinion: This is the kind of show that makes sense for NXT to run, as the Great American Bash certainly h..
