Ronda Rousey Praises Monday Night Raw Star, Calls Him “Amazingly Talented”

•

He has a fan. There are some very talented stars on the WWE roster who never get the chance that they deserve. For one reason or another, they are often either left on the sidelines or used as little more than someone to put over bigger stars. Oftentimes they need someone to go to bat for them and now one such star has gotten an endorsement from a top name. New SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey participated in a live stream on her YouTube channel earlier this week. At one point during the stream, Rousey mentioned fellow WWE star Mustafa Ali, calling him “amazingly talented” and “athletic”, saying he comes up with some great sequences. Ali has been used infrequently on WWE TV in recent months, with his most recent appearance coming last week on Monday Night Raw. Opinion: Rousey is certainly right about Ali’s talent but I don’t know if that is going to be enough to make him into the next big thing in WWE. For whatever reason, he has never been able to break through and get a seri..

WATCH: The Bloodline Has A New Problem On Their Hands

•

They might have a new problem. The last year plus of WWE has been dominated by the Bloodline. The group has dominated almost anyone who has come in front of them and there are only a few names left who can come up against them. It means something for a star to face off of them and now another former champion seems ready to come after the all star team. Last week on SmackDown, Ricochet faced Solo Sikoa. Prior to the show, Ricochet gave an interview backstage where he talked about being sick of the Bloodline. Ricochet spoke about how he wanted to take out all of the teams, beginning with Sikoa that night. Sikoa defeated Ricochet in the match and it is not clear if Ricochet will continue to go after the Bloodline in the coming weeks. He had something to say. Check out Ricochet’s words against the Bloodline: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I could absolutely go for more of Ricochet, but it doesn’t exactly offer the best sign if he is losing in his first match after m..

It opens up several doors as fans are left wondering who is going where and what they might do when they get to their next destination. That is one of the most exciting things in wrestling and now there will be some new free agents on the market all at once. According to PWInsider.com, four Impact Wrestling stars are done with the company as of this weekend’s television tapings. Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, Maria Kanellis and Vincent have all finished up with the company as their contracts have expired. The four had all been part of the Honor No More stable. There is no word on where any of the four will be going next. Opinion: That is one of those changes that can make for some very interesting next steps. There is some star power in this group and now the question becomes where they go next. With so may places to go, we get to find out who is interested in some talented stars. Severa..

Brock Lesnar Passed On Fighting Another World Champion

•

He’ll pass for now. There are very few stars in the history of WWE who have become anything close to Brock Lesnar. Over the years, Lesnar has become one of the top attractions in modern WWE and it takes the right kind of opponent to give him a challenge. To make it more impressive, Lesnar was also a success in mixed martial arts, and it turns out that he turned down a fight there as well. Back in 2018, Lesnar seemed to be ready to set up a fight with fellow UFC heavyweight Daniel Cormier. However, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lesnar turned down the idea of fighting Cormier for unknown reasons. Lesnar would eventually fight once more in the UFC before returning to WWE. Cormier made his WWE debut this weekend as the guest referee in the Fight Pit between Seth Rollins vs. Matt Riddle at Extreme Rules. There is nothing to suggest that Cormier will be returning to WWE in the future. Opinion: That’s kind of a weird way to go, as Lesnar vs. Cormier did seem set for a big ..

Kayla Braxton Shuts Down Sami Zayn’s Trolling With Awesome Response

•

I’d call it a feud. Wrestling is built around the idea of having fans put their money down to see people get into a fight with one emerging victorious. That has been the way the industry works for decades and it is still the case to this day. Some feuds are a little more serious than others though and now a slightly less intense one is getting a new stage after a pretty long hiatus. Back in October 2021, WWE backstage correspondent Kayla Braxton dressed up as Sami Zayn for Halloween and impersonated him on Talking Smack. Earlier this week, Braxton asked who she should be for Halloween this year, prompting a response from Zayn, saying he held grudges. Braxton responded by posting a photo of herself in Zayn’s Honorary Uce shirt and asking “how about now?”. It’s kind of complicated. Check out what started it all and the fallout: [This post contains video, click to play] Guys – Halloween is approaching. In years past, I’ve dressed up as a better @SamiZayn than Sami Zayn and of course l..

WWE’s Reaction To Bray Wyatt’s Extreme Rules Return

•

It went well. There are all kinds of ways to bring a wrestler back to television and if done right, they can be very effective. Some of the best ways involve a surprise, but there is something to be said about letting fans know what is coming without knowing what is coming, and now we know how that went when WWE tried it again with the return of a major name. Over the weekend, Bray Wyatt made his return to WWE after over a year away from the company, appearing at the end of Extreme Rules as the reveal of the White Rabbit. According to Fightful Select, the return was well received in WWE and the company was very pleased with the reaction on social media. Some in WWE had been optimistic about a Wyatt return since Vince McMahon retired from the company in July. There is no word on what Wyatt will be doing in WWE. Opinion: I think it would be safe to call Wyatt’s return a success, at least based on the crowd reactions. The fans were happy to have him back and now the question becomes wha..

Former Champion Expected To Return To WWE

•

The door swings both ways. There have been a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster over the years and some of them have made quite the impression. At the same time, there have been several who have never had the chance to break out in the right way. It can be interesting to see them come back and that might be the case with another former champion. According to F4WOnline.com, former NXT Champion and Raw Tag Team Champion Bo Dallas may be on his way back to WWE. There is no word on what Dallas would be doing if or when he returns to the company. Dallas was with the company for thirteen years before being released in April 2021 as part of a round of budget cuts. Dallas has not wrestled since November 13, 2019, his last match with WWE. Opinion: I could go for this, as Dallas is only 32 years old, has the experience and success to make a go of something and has never had much of a chance on the main roster. Why not let him see what he can do in a WWE with a different landscape? It isn’t lik..

Jon Moxley Gets Several Responsibilities With New AEW Deal

•

Stick around for a bit why don’t you. The rise of AEW has changed the wrestling world as there is now a new place near the top of the wrestling world for several wrestlers to go. The company has come a long way in just a few years but they also need to look towards the future. One of the most important things is to have the right people in the right places and now they have secured that for the long term. AEW President Tony Khan has announced that Jon Moxley has signed a new five year deal with the company. The new deal make him exclusive to the company and its international partners (including New Japan Pro Wrestling) and will see him move into mentoring and coaching roles. While not confirmed, this would suggest that Moxley is done with GCW, where he lost his World Title to Nick Gage this weekend. I'm excited about tonight's huge announcement that @AEW World Champion @JonMoxley has signed a 5 year contract extension! It's fitting that Mox will be in action to kick of..

NXT Star Makes Surprise Cameo At WWE Extreme Rules

•

Cameos are fun. With so many talented stars in NXT, it becomes a question of when someone else will be moving up to the main roster. Those promotions are important moments for both the stars and WWE themselves as we see who is next up on the company’s radar. We might have seen the start of a main roster promotion this weekend at a major WWE event. NXT star Nikkita Lyons made a surprise cameo appearance this weekend at WWE Extreme Rules. Lyons was shown in the crowd and identified by commentary, though she did not do anything physical on the show. There is no word on if this was a one off appearance or the suggestion that she is moving to the main roster. Lyons and Zoey Stark because #1 contenders to the NXT Tag Team Titles earlier this week. The team had been announced for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title tournament over the summer but did not compete due to medical issues. Opinion: This is one of those situations where I could see either line of thinking. Lyons is one of the more uniq..

LOOK: WWE Unveils WrestleMania 40 Logo (And It Has Something Special)

•

A sign of things to come. We are getting close to the end of the year and that means we are getting close to the start of the Road To WrestleMania. Next year’s WrestleMania will take place in southern California and should be one of the biggest events in WWE history. That is next year’s event, but WWE is already thinking about the following year’s WrestleMania and took a big step towards it this weekend. On Saturday, WWE held its annual Extreme Rules pay per view in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the home of WrestleMania 40. Before the show, WWE officially unveiled the logo for WrestleMania 40. The logo is designed after the Liberty Bell and features the show’s Roman numerals, which has been missing over the last several years. WrestleMania 40 will take place at Lincoln Financial Field on April 6 and 7, 2024. Extreme Rules 2022 Results

Extreme Rules 2022 Date: October 8, 2022 Location: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves We’re back with the violent pay per view and in this case the card might be able to live up to that hype. There is a different, or mostly different, gimmick to every match on the card and some of them could get rather violent. In addition, we find out who the White Rabbit is tonight and that could be a huge moment. Let’s get to it. The opening video is narrated by Paul Heyman and features a boy in a spelling bee, trying to spell EXTREME. He asks for the definitions, with Heyman talking about what it means for tonight. Imperium vs. Brawling Brutes This is a Good Old Fashioned Donnybrook, meaning street fight with some props at ringside. It’s a brawl to start, as it should be, with everyone pairing off in and around the ring. Kaiser is tied in the Tree of Woe for a running dropkick but the rest of Imperium comes over for the save. Major Update On Charlotte’s WWE Return

•

Welcome back soon. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it can be easy to forget one of them when they are not around for awhile. That is something that can happen to anyone if they are gone long enough, but it also means that there can be a big moment when they come back after a layoff. That is going to be taking place at some point in the future, as a top star is on the way back. This weekend at WWE Extreme Rules, a vignette aired announcing that Charlotte would be returning to WWE soon, though no specific date was given. Charlotte has been absent from the company since May over her wedding and what were described as personal reasons. There is no word onw hat she will do when she returns to WWE or which roster she will be on. Opinion: Charlotte being back is going to be a big boost to the women’s division as she is one of the biggest stars it has ever seen. You can almost guarantee that she will be right in the title picture as soon as she gets back, but it could be interestin..

WATCH: Bray Wyatt’s Epic Return At WWE Extreme Rules

He’s here. One of the biggest stories of the WWE year has been the return of several wrestlers who have worked for the company before. After a huge string of released over the last two years, a good many of the former names have come back to WWE. That has made for several interesting moments, but the biggest one might have taken place this weekend. The end of this weekend’s WWE Extreme Rules event saw the return of Bray Wyatt after a year and a half hiatus from the company. Wyatt returned at the end of the show, appearing in a real life version of the Firefly Fun House, with the Fun House characters showing up throughout the arena. The door to the Fun House opened and Wyatt appeared to end the show. This was the reveal of the White Rabbit, who had been advertised to appear at Extreme Rules. Yeah this worked. Former WWE Writer Explains What Made Vince McMahon Snap During A Promo

•

Yeah he did that. There has never been anyone like Vince McMahon in the history of wrestling and there never will be again. McMahon was the definition of a one of a kind personality who was known for his odd quirks, including getting annoyed at things for no apparent reason. There have been several instances of single words driving McMahon crazy over the years and now we know another one. During a recent edition of his Wrestling With Freddie podcast, former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. revealed that McMahon would get angry when someone used the word “strap” to refer to a championship during a promo. While McMahon would not allow the word “belt” to be used, the word “strap” would reportedly cause him to go into a rage, to the point where nothing else in the promo mattered to him. McMahon retired from WWE earlier this year after nearly 40 years in charge of the company. Opinion: This is about as McMahon of a thing as you can get and I’m not remotely surprised. He has always been known..

AEW Battle Of The Belts IV Results

Battle Of The Belts IV Date: October 7, 2022 Location: Entertainment And Sports Arena, Washington DC Commentators: Jim Ross, Excalibur, William Regal, Chris Jericho We’re back to another of these things and that does not offer the most inspiration. The series does not seem to be a priority for AEW but the action tends to be rather good. This is also a live show so maybe things can be picked up a little bit from its usual status, which would be appreciated. Let’s get to it. All-Atlantic Title: Trent Beretta vs. Pac Pac is defending and is still in the ring after wrestling in the 20+ minute Rampage main event. Trent has Chuck Taylor in his corner and wins an early slugout for a bit of a surprise. A running clothesline puts Pac on the floor and there’s the dive to take him out for a bonus. Back in and Trent hammers on the ropes, setting up a dropkick to take it outside again. A spear on the floor drops Pac for two back inside but he kicks Trent outside this time. Extreme Rules 2022 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

•

We’re off to another WWE pay per view and in this case it is another show where they already seem to have moved on to getting ready for the next major shows. In this case it’s Extreme Rules, but WWE is already hyping up Crown Jewel next month. That is the kind of show that can make for some good violence, but the show has been hit and miss over the years. Let’s get to it. Edge vs. Finn Balor We’re starting big with an I Quit match, as Edge’s war against Judgment Day continues. This is the kind of a win that could mean quite a bit for Balor, but WWE has a history of giving Edge one big win after another in major spots. I’m not sure why they would do that here, but there is a very real chance that they could go in the wrong direction, as Balor needs the win FAR more than Edge. I’ll go with what should be the sane move here and pick Balor, likely due to Judgment Day threatening Rey Mysterio, or more likely Beth Phoenix. This is probably going to be quite the violent brawl with the usual..

REVIEW: PWG Mystery Vortex III: Ok That Makes More Sense

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Mystery Vortex III Date: June 26, 2015 Location: American Legion Post #308, Reseda, California Commentators: Excalibur, Rick Knox, Chris Hero, Joey Ryan, Ethan Page This is another PWG show that someone requested I do….a few years back now, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be a bad one. From what I understand, the gimmick of this show is that the card isn’t announced until the wrestlers are coming out of the curtain. That should make for a fun show so let’s get to it. Blackpool Combat Club vs. Rush/Private Party Regal calls Excalibur a caramel cheesecake that he would let melt in his mouth. Regal to Jericho: “I’d rather rip off my own eyelids and dip my head in hot soapy water than sit next to you.” The Firm is watching at ringside as Castagnoli takes Kassidy down with almost no effort to start.
