Why WWE Might Not Stick To WrestleMania World Title Stipulations

It might not be that simple. The main event of WrestleMania 38 has been set, as Universal Champion Roman reigns will face WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in a winner take all title unification match. As a result, there will be one World Champion in WWE, marking the end of a five and a half year run with two World Titles. However, the new era might not wind up lasting that long.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE feels that it needs more than one World Champion at the moment. As a result, it is likely that WWE will either split the titles up again or introduce a new world title, as neither wrestler’s schedule nor the networks would be happy without having a full time World Champion. There is no word on how or when the change would be made.

Opinion: This isn’t the biggest surprise, as WWE has long since enjoyed the idea of having more than one World Champion on the roster at once. I’m not sure how WWE will get out of this, but having someone go on a rant about how there needs to be another title to win should be enough. It isn’t like they haven’t done this before, even if it means that they backtrack on their WrestleMania stipulation so soon.
