What’s Next: Update On Goldberg’s Future WWE Status
Enjoy him while you can. WWE has reached the busiest part of its year and that means it is time to start being a bit more serious. This includes bringing in some names that might not be around for the rest of the year but still get a reaction. Some of these reactions might be more positive than others, but in this case, it is a reaction that you might not be hearing for very much longer.
Last week, Goldberg made his return on SmackDown, announcing that he would be challenging Roman Reigns for the Universal Title at Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia on February 19. According to Wrestlinginc., Goldberg is scheduled for the next two editions of SmackDown, including this week’s and the February 18 edition, which will also be taped this week. Those will be Goldberg’s final scheduled appearances with WWE. Goldberg has said that he has one more match on his WWE contract, but there is a chance that the two sides could come to terms on a new deal.
Opinion: While I would not be surprised to see Goldberg doing something at WrestleMania, I am not exactly upset to see him going away for a bit. Goldberg is a great example of the law of diminishing returns. He keeps coming back and losing over and over again, making it kind of hard to care about his latest World Title shot. I get why he is around, but it would be nice to have him do something else for a bit.
What do you think of Goldberg? Will he wrestle again after Elimination Chamber? Let us know in the comments below.
