WWE Planning Match Between Shane McMahon & Kevin Owens?

As seen on Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live, Shane McMahon announced that Kevin Owens would defend the United States Championship against AJ Styles and Chris Jericho in the main event of the show. After the announcement, Owens and Shane went face-to-face.

Dave Meltzer mentioned in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that this is it very clear that this was done as a tease for a match between Shane and Owens down the line. There is a lot of online speculation that the two could possibly face each other at this year’s SummerSlam event.

While nothing has been confirmed, there is always the possibility that the match gets added to SummerSlam as WWE is trying to book the event strong and a match between the two would definitely be something the fans would pay to see. We will keep you updated if we hear anything regarding the two facing off at the biggest even of the summer.

Possible Match for Next Month’s SummerSlam Event

As seen on Monday’s episode of RAW, Big Cass destroyed The Big Show after he came down to make the save for Enzo Amore.

Dave Meltzer mentioned on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio that Big Cass vs. The Big Show at this year’s SummerSlam event is the direction WWE is going with this feud. Meltzer indicated previously that this match may be going down at SummerSlam, but after Monday’s attack on The Big Show it is much more clearer now that this match will take place at the Summer blockbuster event.

WWE officials are very high on Big Cass, mainly because of his look and his size. He is expected to receive a push coming out of his split from Enzo Amore.

Brock Lesnar Not Re-Signing with WWE Next Year?

It was reported earlier today that Brock Lesnar has re-entered the USADA testing pool for MMA and he could possibly be fighting for the UFC before the year ends.

Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Lesnar’s current deal with WWE expires shortly after WrestleMania 34 and he has made it clear to the company that he doesn’t intend to re-sign. Bryan Alvarez indicated on Wrestling Observer Live today that this is probably why Roman Reigns’ match against Lesnar is being moved up to SummerSlam instead of it taking place at WrestleMania.

The reason Lesnar has re-entered the testing pool is so that he can make the right career decision about his career move when his WWE deal runs up. Lesnar has to re-enter the testing pool and fulfill the rest of his suspension before he is allowed to fight in the UFC again.

Shelton Benjamin Has Not Signed With WWE

There were reports surfacing online this week regarding Shelton Benjamin possibly returning to WWE, however that doesn’t appear to be the case.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Shelton Benjamin has not re-signed with WWE as of earlier this week. If his status changes, we will keep you updated.

Reason Billy Gunn Can Still Use His Name Outside of WWE

Many of you have noticed that Billy Gunn has been using his WWE name outside of the company and are wondering how he’s getting away with that.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that he is now allowed to use the name “Billy Gunn” because WWE did not continue the trademark. When they let it go, he trademarked it himself and he now owns the rights to the name worldwide.

Kurt Angle Says GLOW Is Helping Bring More Attention to Wrestling

Kurt Angle talked about the success of GLOW on his recent interview with the Dallas Observer recently.

He talked about GLOW’s recent popularity which led wrestling into mainstream environment again, and the main event women’s matches:

I would say that GLOW’s popularity had an influence on us having women’s main event matches. But the WWE has been working on their women’s division for years, and we’ve already been leading up to having the girls main event TV shows.

A few years ago, WWE made the decision to stop referring to the women wrestlers as “divas.” When I was in WWE the first go-round, the women were having bikini pillow fights and it was all about the look of the girl. Now it’s all about their in-ring ability. GLOW is helping bring more attention to wrestling and women’s wrestling in particular. I think people who watch WWE will watch GLOW and vice-versa.

GLOW is Netflix’s latest show which is based on a promotion of the same name, called Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. The show was released via Netflix on June 23, 2017.

Possible Spoiler on The Hype Bros Splitting Up

As previously reported, there is speculation that the beginning to the end of The Hype Bros is currently on-going on WWE programming after Mojo Rawley eliminated Zack Ryder from the Independence Day Battle Royal Tuesday night.

Bryan Alvarez discussed the Battle Royal on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio and said it’s obvious that the team is splitting up. It’s believed that Zack will be the one to turn heel on Mojo in their on-going storyline.

We noted back in May via Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE has plans to push Mojo as a single’s star. Dave Meltzer indicated at the time that the company would probably split the team once Ryder got back from injury and it now appears that those plans are in place.
