Some of the highlights include: Viewership was up 46%, making it the more viewed Survivor Series on record. In-venue merchandise sales were the highest on record and up 20% over the 2021 Survivor Series. The live gate set records for both Survivor Series and any WWE event in Boston. That’s a new record. WWE runs several events a year but some of them are specials that are even bigger than others. Some of these include WWE going overseas to run an international event. This includes a series of shows in Saudi Arabia, which have gained WWE quite a bit of revenue. The events have been increasing another number and this one is rather important too. According to Fightful Select, WWE has sent out an internal memo bragging about the success of last weekend’s Crown Jewel event. The memo announced that Crown Jewel was now the most viewed international premium live event, with the viewership reportedly breaking seven figures on Peacock. Crown Jewel took the top spot from the first Saudi Arabian event, Greatest Royal Rumble, from 2018. He’s a big deal. There are certain wrestlers who make their returns and have an immediate impact. You can tell when you are seeing someone special and they change the way a promotion works. That can make for some very interesting moments and you can feel the change taking place. It is currently taking place in WWE and now we have some numbers to back it up. Bray Wyatt made his return to WWE at Extreme Rules in October, revealing himself to be the White Rabbit that had been teased for weeks leading up to the show. During WWE’s Q3 Earnings call, Triple H revealed that the White Rabbit story was credited with causing Extreme Rules’ viewership to rise 30%. In addition, the September 23 SmackDown saw a 20% viewership increase in the second hour on the thought the White Rabbit would be revealed. Wyatt has since been regularly appearing on SmackDown. They had a request. The wrestling world has changed quite a bit since AEW became a new major promotion. For the first time in decades, WWE has major competition for television viewers and talent. That is not something they are used to but the two sides almost came together to do something special earlier this month. Now we know what might have been enough to make it work. Earlier this month, WWE presented the 25th anniversary of D-Generation X on the October 10 edition of Monday Night Raw. However, the segment did not include Billy Gunn, who is under contract to AEW. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the two companies did discuss Gunn being allowed to appear, with AEW President Tony Khan requesting WWE acknowledge that Gunn works for AEW. One of the most important groups is the broadcast team, including the backstage interviewers. They are often there to guide the fans in a certain directions with the questions that they ask and one of the better interviewers around today is no longer a free agent. AEW President Tony Khan has announced that Renee Paquette (formerly known as Renee Young) has officially signed a deal with the company and joined the broadcast team. That’s something to brag about. WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world and has been for a very long time now. While the company has been centered in the United States for their entire history, it also has a long run of success outside of the company. Now they are having another success from another part of the world on its biggest nights of the year. According to India.com, WrestleMania 38 set a new record for wrestling viewership on the Sony Sports Network. The show was viewed by 56.1 million viewers over the show’s two nights. The debut of Veer Mahaan on Monday Night Raw the following night was credited with a 9% increase in the show’s viewership. WrestleMania 38 took place on April 2 and April 3 at AT&T Stadium. The ones that matter. NXT has been completely changed in recent months, with the launch of NXT 2.0 taking away almost all of the things that defined the promotion for years. That is the kind of thing you do not see take place very often and it was a big shakeup, including for the television show. The audience is not what it once was either, but what does that mean to the USA network? According to the Mat Men Wrestling podcast, USA is happy with the audience that NXT has been drawing in recent weeks. This includes an audience in the 600,000 viewers a week range, with 700,000 for a major show. The last two editions have featured audiences of 624,000 on March 15 and 613,000 on March 8. USA also reportedly does not care if WWE stars appear on the show, as long as the audience is in the acceptable range. It’s a WWE idea. Monday Night Raw has been on the air for almost twenty nine years with nearly fifteen hundred episodes. That is the kind of thing that is unparalleled in the wrestling industry, at least on this level. The show has had its ups and downs over the years, but it is always trying to find a way to draw in new viewers. Now they have another idea, but it might not be the most logical. Over the last several months, WWE has changed the way they present matches on Monday Night Raw or SmackDown. A wrestler comes to the ring and then the show will go to a commercial. When the show comes back, vignettes, videos or something similar will air before the match, leaving the wrestler in the ring for several minutes before the match begins.
