Monday Night Raw Results – February 27, 2023

Monday Night Raw Date: February 27, 2023 Location: Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, Michigan Commentators: Kevin Patrick, Corey Graves We are less than five weeks away from Wrestlemania and you can see a lot of the show’s card from here. That means we should be in for a good event, as there is time to build things up in advance. Odds are we’ll hear a lot from Cody Rhodes this week, which often works out well. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of Friday’s Bloodline issues, as Sami Zayn seems to still be getting inside Jey Uso’s mind. Here are Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa to mock the idea of there being problems in the Bloodline. Families fight all the time but if you come for one of them, you come for all of them. There have been a lot of people who thought the Bloodline was over and they were all wrong. So get them some opponents out here. Cue the Street Profits, who shout a lot and ask where Jey Uso is. Trash is talked and we’re ready to go. Jimmy Uso/Solo Sikoa vs. Street Profits J..

The New King: Gunther Sets Impressive All Time Record In Royal Rumble Match

Down it goes. Wrestling is like any other sport in a lot of ways, including by having numbers and statistics play a huge role. There are certain records that are well known among wrestling fans, but every now and then one of those numbers will fall. It can be a big deal when something like that happens, and it happened again in a big way this weekend on a grand stage. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Homecoming: Surprise Return Kicks Off WWE Royal Rumble This weekend, WWE presented its annual Royal Rumble event. The show opened with the Men’s Royal Rumble match, which saw Gunther enter at #1 and set a new longevity record for the match. Gunther lasted 1:11:25, breaking Rey Mysterio’s record of 62:12 set in 2006. Commentary did make it clear that Gunther’s record was in traditional Royal Rumble matches, as Daniel Bryan lasted 74:12 in the Greatest Royal Rumble in 2018, though that match had 50 entrants compared to the traditional 30. Gunther finished as the match’s runner up to Cody Rhodes. Th..

No More: AEW Tag Team Splits, New Stable Formed In Its Wake

It took long enough. Tag team wrestling has an interesting dynamic, as you can have two very talented wrestlers who have enough in common to make a great team. At the same time, there are often teams who are more different than similar, which can lead to issues. Those issues can even go so far as to having the team split up and that is what we saw this week. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: One More Ride? Update On The Shield Reuniting In WWE Anytime Soon This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured a face to face confrontation between Swerve In Our Glory members Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland, as moderated by hip hop mogul Rick Rock. The two had been having issues in recent weeks and hoped to work them out. During the showdown, Strickland came to the ring but told Lee to watch his back, with Parker Boudreaux attacking Lee from behind. An unnamed man (a former baseball player named Granden Goetzman, according to JJ Williams of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter) joined in to help attack Lee, w..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Considers First Time Opponent For Brock Lesnar At WrestleMania 39

That would be a big one. We are coming close to the end of the year and that means WWE should already be planning for the next year, including WrestleMania 39. The show will be held on the grand stage in Los Angeles, California and that means WWE is going to need to pull out all the stops to make the show feel huge. They already might be planning for a clash of the titans. According to Xero News on Twitter, WWE is considering a match between Brock Lesnar and Intercontinental Champion Gunther at WrestleMania 39. There is no word on if the Intercontinental Title would be up for grabs, as Gunther could lose the title by then or wrestle in a non-title match. There is nothing to confirm that the match has been set for the show and this is only a discussion at the moment. Lesnar vs Gunther is being discussed for WM39 No word yet in if will be for Title or not. — Xero News (@NewsXero) November 24, 2022 This would be a fight. Check out who would be involved: [This post contains video, cli..

That’s Different: Chris Jericho Speaks On Experiences With Time Displacement And Spirits

That’s a different kind of story. Wrestlers are larger than life characters who get in the ring and showcase their talents on rather grand stages. It can be a lot of fun to see what a wrestler can do when they are given the chance, but there also comes a point where they leave the ring and their real lives continue. Now one wrestling legend has some interesting stories about things that might have happened to him outside the ring. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Just Keep Waiting: Missing AEW Star Reportedly Medically Cleared For “Quite Some Time” Chris Jericho appeared on the Howie Mandel Does Stuff show and spoke about possible incidents with time displacement and spirits. Jericho said that he believes he has dealt with time displacement, not remembering a fifteen hour period. Jericho insists that he was not drinking or doing drugs, but that he has a big chunk of time missing. While he did not say it was what happened, Jericho said that it like when you get abducted. In addition, Jericho to..

Ric Flair Rules Out CM Punk, The Rock and John Cena as Opponents for Stone Cold at WrestleMania 39

The news dropped on Monday that Triple H and WWE officials were interested in having Stone Cold Steve Austin do more with the company following his long awaited return to in-ring competition at WrestleMania 38 against Kevin Owens. Since then, the internet continues to speculate on who the best opponent would be for The Texas Rattlesnake with WrestleMania 39 returning to Hollywood. Naturally, there are a handful of dream matches that would help sell out SoFi Stadium this April. The few names that have emerged from the rumor mill thus far include John Cena, The Rock and CM Punk. While they each have their own unique intrigue for the grandest stage of them all, The Nature Boy is ruling out a few of these big names himself. Related: How A Possible CM Punk WWE Return Is Being Received Backstage During his latest To Be The Man podcast on Wednesday, Ric Flair was asked about Austin’s next opponent and immediately didn’t see a potential WWE return and match with Stone Cold as a valid option ..

REVIEW: Survivor Series 1990: Here’s An Important One

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Survivor Series 1990 Date: November 22, 1990 Location: Hartford Civic Center, Hartford, Connecticut Attendance: 16,000 Commentators: Gorilla Monsoon, Roddy Piper This is a somewhat different show that in recent years as we have a main event of sorts. It was never tried again and that’s probably the best idea. It’s called the Grand Finale Match of Survival in which the survivors of each team meet in one final Survivor Series match. The winners get absolutely nothing, which continues to prove that these..

NXT LVL Up Results – November 4, 2022

NXT LVL Up Date: November 4, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Sudu Shah, Matt Camp It’s a pay per view weekend and that means a grand total of very little on this show as Crown Jewel has no connection to NXT. LVL Up doesn’t have much to offer most weeks but maybe we can get in a nice match to take up some of the time. The show is usually at least decent so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Ivy Nile vs. Sol Ruca The fans approve of Nile as she works on the wristlock to start. Ruca trips her down and Nile actually grins a bit, only to have it cut off by Ruca’s headlock takeover. Nile is back up with a sunset flip but a jumpless X Factor gives Ruca two. A rather muscular deadlift suplex gets two on Nile but she is back with an armbar in the corner. The arm is fine enough to hit a side slam and a flipping splash connects on Nile in the corner. Nile isn’t having that and suplexes her over, setting up the Diamond Chain Lock (dragon sleeper) for the ..

REVIEW: Halloween Havoc 1998: Time’s Up

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Halloween Havoc 1998 Date: October 25, 1998 Location: MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada Attendance: 10,663 Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay, Bobby Heenan We’re FINALLY here after six weeks of buildup. It’s a double main event with Warrior and Hogan in the battle for Hollywood’s sanity and ego as well as Diamond Dallas Page challenging Goldberg for the World Title. However the show is remembered far more for something that had nothing to do with the wrestling. Let’s get to it. The open..

AEW Dynamite Results – October 12, 2022

Dynamite Date: October 12, 2022 Location: Coca-Cola Coliseum, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Commentators: Excalibur, Taz, Tony Schiavone We’re up north this week and out of the United States (at least on land) for the first time. The main events feature a grand total of one American as we have Bryan Danielson challenging Chris Jericho for the Ring Of Honor World Title and Pac defending the All-Atlantic Title against Orange Cassidy. Let’s get to it. We start hings off with the debut of the newest member of the broadcast team: Renee Paquette (Young). She brings out Christian Cage, who insults Toronto and then brings in Luchasaurus. Jungle Boy vs. Luchasaurus Christian Cage is on commentary. Jungle Boy goes after him to start but gets powered into the corner. The uppercut off the top sends Luchasaurus to the floor and it’s already time for a table. Jungle Boy is in big trouble as the table is set up outside and we take a break. Back with Luchasaurus missing a charge and going into the post,..

Great News On Saraya’s AEW Future

So she’s in. There have been some great debuts in AEW’s history and some of them have been names that fans have been seeing for years. That can make for some awesome moments, but it also leaves fans wondering what they are going to be seeing in the future. Now we know what the future seems to hold for a recently debuted star and it is a bit of a surprise. Last month at AEW Grand Slam, Saraya, better known as Paige during her time in WWE, made her debut for the company. This led to a question of whether or not she would be able to get physical, as she was forced to retire from the ring in 2018 due to a neck injury. This week on AEW Dynamite, Page got into a fight with Britt Baker before laying out Rebel with a superkick. While not confirmed, this would suggest that Saraya has been medically cleared. Opinion: That is something great to see as you do not want to see anyone forced out of the ring. Saraya is someone who felt like she could be one of the biggest stars in wrestling but had ..

WATCH: Darby Allin’s Latest Insane Stunt (From 92 Feet In The Air)

He’s a stunt guy. There are certain wrestlers who are best known for the stunts that they do rather than the matches that they have. During a match, you will see something take place that blows your mind but tends to be pretty run of the mill for whomever does it. Then there are some who do these kind of things outside of the ring and that has happened again for an AEW star. AEW’s Darby Allin has released a new video showing what he describes as a “slip and fall” off of a 92 foot waterfall into the water below. The video features Allin’s dive as two people watch from nearby, seemingly standing in the water. There is no indication of where the waterfall is located. Allin last wrestled on the Grand Slam edition of Rampage where he and Sting defeated the House of Black. Yeah this is a bit much. Check out Allin’s dive: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: As someone who is not quite comfortable with heights, this is about as terrifying of a concept as I can fathom. Allin ..

KB’s Review: All Elite Isn’t All Elite

After this year’s All Out, CM Punk went ballistic during a media scrum, bashing a lot of people on the roster, including the company’s Executive Vice Presidents, better known as the Elite (for the sake of clarification, I’ll only be referring to Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks when I mention the Elite). Following the media scrum, there was a huge fight between Punk, Ace Steel and the Elite which has resulted in pretty much everyone involved being suspended. It isn’t clear when those people are going to be back and that is what we are looking at this time around. Now before you panic, no, we aren’t talking about the media scrum comments or the brawl, because those topics have been driven so hard into the ground that I’m expecting them to wind up on Impact Wrestling sooner than later. Everything that we know or have speculated about those incidents has been covered to death so we’ll move on to something a little more practical. This week saw AEW’s Grand Slam events, held in Arthur Ashe..

AEW Rampage Results – September 23, 2022 (Grand Slam)

Rampage Date: September 24, 2022 Location: Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York City, New York Commentators: Excalibur, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Chris Jericho It’s the biggest Rampage of the year as we are in New York City for a stacked two house show. The card is headlined by a battle royal (shocking I know) for the #1 contendership as we have a title shot to get through before Full Gear. Other than that, there are a bunch of grudge matches so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. House Of Black vs. Sting/Darby Allin No DQ and Sting/Allin pop up behind the House (Brody King/Buddy Matthews with Julia Hart) during their entrances to start the fight on the stage. The bell rings and they fight to the ring with the House taking over without much trouble. Sting gets surrounded but manages to fight them both off, only to be driven hard into the corner. A super Code Red gives Allin two on King but a suicide dive is cut off by a raised knee. Sting goes up but gets shoved through a table, with his h..
