Impact Wrestling Date: March 9, 2023 Location: Sam’s Town Live, Las Vegas, Nevada Commentators: Tom Hannifan, Matthew Rehwoldt We are on our way to a trio of shows with Sacrifice, Multiverse United and Rebellion, which makes for quite the packed series of builds. That got started last week with a little something for each show getting time, but they are going to have to do it again for the next few weeks. Let’s get to it. Opening recap. Here is Bully Ray to get things going. At No Surrender, Tommy Dreamer used the words “someone like me” (meaning Ray). What did he mean when he said that? Did he mean a two time Hall of Famer or half of the greatest tag team ever? Maybe a two time World Champion? Ray wishes he knew what Dreamer meant, because he threw hot coffee into Dreamer’s face. That might mean quite a few things, but there is a good chance that we are going to be seeing a bunch of AEW stars around here. This show could go in a few different ways though so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Mark Briscoe vs. Slim J The rest of the Trustbusters are here with Slim J, who kicks away the Code Of Honor before the bell. Redneck Kung Fu sends J outside but a Mark Sterling distraction lets J get in a low blow. Briscoe is fine enough to kick J to the floor, setting up the dropkick through the ropes. Dynamite Date: February 1, 2023 Location: Nutter Center, Dayton, Ohio Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz We are about a month away from Revolution and that means it is time to start hammering down the card. You can probably guess a good bit of it from here and that is a strong sign for the show. This week will feature a pair of title matches, including Jade Cargill’s latest conquest and Samoa Joe getting his rematch for the TNT Title. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Page Moxley comes through the crowd with Wheeler Yuta and….his own father. Moxley starts the fight in the crowd and takes it into the audience as we are waiting on the opening bell. Page gets in a whip into a barricade and they keep brawling back to ringside. Moxley wraps the chair around Page’s leg but Page throws said chair at Moxley to take over. They finally get in the ring and slug it out, with Moxley’s eye busted open. Wrestling Legend Claims AEW Wanted Him To Return Earlier this month at AEW Full Gear, Jamie Hayter defeated Toni Storm to become the new AEW Interim Women’s Champion, later promoted to full champion. During an interview with Busted Open Radio before the event, Britt Baker, Hayter’s on-screen associate, revealed that she originally recommended Hayter to AEW President Tony Khan. Baker said that she faced Hayter in a dive bar in the UK and the two have been friends ever since. Baker also described herself as Hayter’s #1 fan. The two have a nice history together. During a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall Of Famer Mark Henry and AEW broadcaster Mark Henry revealed that he is not able to wrestle anymore due to nerve damage in his back. As a result of the nerve damage in his sacroiliac joint, Henry has had to occasionally take a wheelchair through the airport. While Henry’s doctor has told him that the issue could be fixed through surgery, Henry should wait until he can no longer walk and use surgery as his last resort. After a career that has spanned the better part of fifty years, Flair was finally ready to hang it up after this weekend’s appropriately titled Ric Flair’s Last Match event. Flair has been training for months, but there is only so much that can be done at 73 years old. The match has taken place, and now we know a bit about how he is doing. Flair teamed with Andrade El Idolo to defeat Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett in his final match, which saw him busted open. According to PWInsider.com, Flair was immediately checked out by two doctors backstage and was said to be “great” after the match. Flair also said that he was starving and wanted to get something to eat as he headed out on the town for the evening.
