Former WWE Star Announces That His In-Ring Career Is Over, Moving Towards Broadcasting

His boots are hung up. Wrestlers have one of the strangest career paths in any industry as it can be rather difficult to get out of the industry. Since wrestlers can find work in a variety of places around the country, it can be easy to keep going for a bit longer than they should. You do see some wrestlers who are able to find a way out of the ring though and another one has done just that. Former WWE star Matthew Rehwoldt, better known as Aiden English, has announced that he will not be taking anymore in-ring bookings. Rehwoldt said that he does not feel like he belongs in the ring anymore and would rather focus on other areas. Instead of wrestling, Rehwoldt will be focusing on broadcasting and other industries, including voiceovers, gaming and esports. Rehwoldt has been doing broadcast work for Impact Wrestling and last wrestled on May 14. So here you go: I will no longer be taking bookings to wrestle going forward. I've always been most at home with a mic in front of me ..

More Former WWE Stars Added To Upcoming Independent Event

It’s one of the important parts. Commentary is one of the most critical aspects of any wrestling promotion. The commentary team is there to tell the fans the story that the company wants to present and guide them on the way. The right team can do all kinds of good things for a promotion and now one of the newest ones has picked up a veteran commentary team of its own. Wrestling Entertainment Series, a new promotion based in the United Kingdom, has announced that former WWE broadcasters Jonathan Coachman and Matthew Rehwoldt, also known as Aiden English, will be the company’s new commentary team. This marks Coachman’s first wrestling appearance since 2018, when he was part of the Monday Night Raw commentary team. Rehwoldt is currently a broadcaster for Impact Wrestling and there is nothing to suggest he will be leaving. Wrestling Entertainment Series’ first show is scheduled to air on June 4. REVIEW: Backlash 2017: They Actually Did That

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Backlash 2017 Date: May 21, 2017 Location: Allstate Arena, Chicago, Illinois Commentators: Byron Saxton, Tom Phillips, John Bradshaw Layfield It’s time for another Smackdown exclusive, which could mean things are hit or miss tonight. The card isn’t exactly the best with Jinder Mahal challenging Smackdown World Champion Randy Orton and AJ Styles challenging Kevin Owens for the US Title. Other than that though, this is kind of a stretch for a pay per view. Let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Tye Dillinger vs. Aiden Engl..

WATCH: Bobby Roode’s Smackdown Debut

Absolutely Glorious! WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full debut of Bobby Roode on the main roster in 2017. He debuted on the August 22 episode of Smackdown Live. You can see the video in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From our own Thomas Hall: The fans go INSANE for the entrance and Roode seems to be a face, at least for the night. They take turns posing at each other with Roode clotheslining English to the floor and sending us to a break. Back with English in control but Roode drives him into the corner for some chops. A forearm sets up the Blockbuster as JBL says Roode needs to win to get some beer money. English hits a Director’s Cut for two but walks into a spinebuster. The Glorious DDT ends English at 6:28. Result: Bobby Roode b. Aiden English – Glorious DDT (6:28) Post-match, Roode says everything he does is big box office and in a New York minute Smackdown has gone from great to GLORIOUS. Former WWE Star Makes Surprise Debut In Impact Wrestling

You might remember him. There are a lot of talented wrestlers in the world today but there are only so many spots for them on the biggest stage. WWE has let a lot of wrestlers go over the last year or so and some of them have popped up elsewhere. That can make for some interesting debuts when they show up in another promotion, which was the case again this weekend. Matthew Rehwoldt, formerly known as Aiden English in WWE, made his Impact Wrestling debut at their Homecoming event on Saturday. Rehwoldt and Deonna Purrazzo teamed up to win the Homecoming Tournament, earning the titles of King and Queen of Impact. After debuting with WWE in 2012, Rehwoldt was released from the company on April 15, 2020. A vignette aired announcing his debut with the company at last week’s Slammiversary event. Rehwoldt is a surprise addition. Check out his time in the ring: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] ..

VIDEO: Several Stars Debut And Return At Slammiversary

It was a busy night. WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling company in the world but it is absolutely no the only one. There are all kinds of other places to see very talented wrestlers around the world and that is a great thing for fans. Sometimes a former WWE wrestler will go somewhere else and we will get to see them thrive in a very different way. That might be the case all over again. Several new stars made their debuts or returns at Impact Wrestling’s Slammiversary. Three wrestlers made their debuts and two more made a return, while another wrestler was teased for a future debut. During the show, No Way (formerly No Way Jose in WWE), Thunder Rosa and Jay White made their debuts. Chelsea Green (formerly known as Laurel Van Ness in Impact Wrestling), and Mickie James both made their returns to the promotion. Finally a vignette aired teasing the Drama King, which was the nickname for former WWE star Aiden English. No Way appeared as a mystery tag team partner for Fallah Ba..

205 Live Results – March 27, 2020

205 Live Date: March 27, 2020 Location: WWE Performance Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Jon Quasto, Aiden English We’re still in the new version of the show here and that’s the kind of thing that 205 Live has been needing. It’s just a showcase show these days with no pressure or stories, but more importantly they don’t have the vanishing crowds or extended shows. It’s a good sign, even though the show is little more than filler on the Network. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Isaiah Scott vs. Joaquin Wilde Wilde goes with the hammerlock on the mat to start before switching over to the armbar. Scott is right back up and they trade headscissors to a standoff. Another headscissors sends Scott to the floor but he pulls the ring skirt aside to trap Wilde. Some kicks to the back set up some forearms to the face as Scott is a bit more aggressive this time. The chinlock sets up a Gory Stretch of all things, cranking the arms together rather hard. Scott even leans down into a backs..

205 Live Results – March 20, 2020

205 Live Date: March 20, 2020 Location: WWE Performance Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Jon Quasto, Aiden English We’re back here and thankfully this show has gotten into the formula that it should have had years ago: a short form show which gets in and out without wasting a bunch of time. Last week saw Kushida and Isaiah Scott surviving the elimination tag and that could set up some stuff for the future. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Joaquin Wilde vs. Danny Burch Burch cranks on the arm to start and takes him down with a wristlock. That’s switched into a Fujiwara armbar to work on a different part of the arm because Burch is that thorough. Wilde reverses into an armbar of his own but they wind up heading outside instead. Burch knocks him into the barricade, only to have Wilde dive off of said barricade to drop Burch again. Back in and Wilde goes back to the arm for a good bit until Burch jawbreaks his way to freedom. Some shots in the corner set up a middle rope missil..

205 Live Results – March 19, 2019

205 Live Date: March 19, 2019 Location: Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, Indiana Commentators: Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness, Aiden English The tournament concludes tonight and we’re going to have a new Wrestlemania match set. This wee will see Cedric Alexander vs. Tony Nese for the right to challenge Buddy Murphy for the Cruiserweight Title in a match that totally won’t be on the Kickoff Show. Other than that, Mike Kanellis is running out of chances to prove himself worthy of being on the 205 Live roster. Let’s get to it. Drake Maverick recaps the tournament before tonight’s final. Opening sequence. Here are the Kanellises for a chat before Mike’s (now with no hair) match. Maria says he’s the greatest wrestler in the world and better than the best. Mike is about to prove everyone wrong, including whoever his opponent is. Mike Kanellis vs. Akira Tozawa Tozawa is a mystery opponent. Mike grabs the arm and is immediately driven into a rope for the break. An aggressive fight ove..

205 Live Results – March 12, 2019

205 Live Date: March 12, 2019 Location: Nutter Center, Dayton, Ohio Commentators: Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness, Aiden English The tournament season continues around here with the final four of the Cruiserweight Title #1 Contender tournament. In this case, there aren’t exactly a ton of great options but that’s the case with a lot of the title scene at the moment. Cedric Alexander is probably the favorite to win the whole thing, as tends to be the case, but bigger surprises have happened before. Let’s get to it. We open with Drew Gulak for a change. He loves tournament semifinals because it’s where you separate the men from the boys. In other words, it’s the round where Tony Nese collapses under the pressure. Drew owns him and tonight will be no different. Nese knows that Gulak is different than anyone else on the roster because Gulak will dissect every mistake that Nese makes. His focus is his best asset and Gulak knows nothing about him. Oney Lorcan says this is all business and he..

205 Live Results – March 5, 2019

205 Live Date: March 5, 2019 Location: Mohegan-Sun Arena At Casey Place, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania Commentators: Vic Joseph, Aiden English, Nigel McGuinness It’s time for the second week of the tournament and that’s not a bad thing. This is the kind of show that is far better when they go with straight wrestling and minimal storytelling, which is what you get in a tournament setting. Tonight we get the second half of the first round, meaning we’ll be down to four by the end of the night. Let’s get to it. Drake Maverick does his usual recap/preview. Opening sequence. Video on Oney Lorcan, a surprise entrant in the tournament. He’s been on 205 Live before, albeit in a one off appearance the night after Wrestlemania 33. Lorcan says he can adapt his style to any opponent. He could see himself defeating Buddy Murphy for the Cruiserweight Championship. #1 Contender Tournament First Round: Oney Lorcan vs. Humberto Carrillo Before the match, Carrillo says that Lorcan is a strong opponent..

Real Reason Why Lana is Getting Another Big Push Revealed

On SmackDown Live this week, The Ravishing Russian defeated Billie Kay to qualify for the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match at the upcoming PPV. Some people aren’t thrilled with Lana winning after only two moves, but there are some bigger questions. The WWE Universe knows that she’s training to improve her in-ring work, but a ladder match is a lot to handle even for the most experienced wrestlers. With Lana’s lack of in-ring experience, a lot of people are wondering why she has secured a spot in the match. Related: Backstage Plans for Lana and Her Role on “Smackdown Live” According to a new report from RingSideNews, the push she’s receiving has to do with the success of “Rusev Day.” The Ravishing Russian has always been over with the WWE Universe. Her association with Rusev will easily transfer onto her despite little time on television. Aiden English acting as a valet for her also gives the fans a reason to cheer. It’s unlikely she will actually win the briefcase at Money in ..

Here Are the Top Ten Best Women’s Matches in WWE History

With ‘WrestleMania’ season in full swing, WWE.com is not slacking with their impressive list articles. The latest of these are the top ten best women’s matches in WWE history. Here they are! 10: 2018 Women’s Royal Rumble Match A woman in the Royal Rumble used to be a special attraction. Now it’s the main attraction. The maiden attempt at an all-female Rumble turned out to be both entertaining and profound, as the Superstars of today (Sasha Banks, Bayley, Becky Lynch), yesterday (Michelle McCool, Beth Phoenix, Molly Holly, Jacqueline) and tomorrow (Ember Moon, Kairi Sane) battled for a piece of history. The undefeated Asuka last eliminated Nikki Bella to win the match and set up a title bout against SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania. That the victor’s nickname is The Empress of Tomorrow is entirely fitting. If nothing else, the Women’s Royal Rumble was a proclamation that the future is now. — ANTHONY BENIGNO [This post contains video, click to play] 9: Alund..

Two More Matches Announced for “Fastlane 2018”

The fast lane is getting congested. With less than a week to go before “Fastlane 2018”, there were only four matches set for the show as we came into this week’s “Smackdown Live”. That’s not much for a three hour show, but thankfully a few more of the spots were filled in throughout the night. Here’s how the first one was set up: [This post contains video, click to play] This week on “Smackdown Live”, two more matches were added to the “Fastlane 2018” card. First, Rusev challenged Shinsuke Nakamura to a match in order to avenge Aiden English’s injured throat. Later in the show, Natalya and Naomi agreed to a tag match with Carmella and Becky Lynch as the respective partners. Both matches were confirmed later in the night. Opinion: How nice of WWE to remember that Nakamura exists only four weeks before his biggest match in America. It’s like he’s been forgotten for the sake of setting up this Six Pack Challenge and that’s not a good thing for the Royal Rumble winner. The women’s m..

Predicting the Next Three United States Champions

<p>AJ Styles just defeated Kevin Owens to become a two-time WWE United States Champion. With Styles looking to begin an open challenge, he will have many fresh challengers. One of these challengers will eventually dethrone Styles. Someone will dethrone the one who dethroned Styles. So on and so forth.</p><p>Who will be the next person to hold United States gold? Who will become a champion soon? Only time will tell, but here are some bold predictions. Who will become a United States champion before 2017 ends?</p><h4>3. Kevin Owens</h4><p></p><p>Styles is supposed to defend his championship next week on Smackdown. Given WWE’s recent fascination with nonsensical booking decisions, expect Owens to regain the title and become a four-time US Champion.</p><p>The match, if it’s anything like their last few matches, will be a mostly okay match. It will be good for a TV match. Eventually, though, some weird booking decision will work in Kevin Owens’ favor. Maybe the referee won’t see a weapon shot, or won’t see a rope break. Maybe Kevin Owens will pick up the whole announce table and hit AJ with it and the referee won’t know if he should disqualify Owens. At the end of a hard-fought match, though, Owens will walk away with the gold.</p><p>The next week, he’ll cut a promo saying he’s hosting an open challenge. Styles will answer, and Owens will deny him. Either Daniel Bryan or Shane McMahon will book  the match for the following week, because ratings or something. Whatever. Styles will get his rematch.</p><p>What will happen after Styles gets his rematch? It’s easy.</p><h4>2. AJ Styles</h4><p></p><p>At the rematch, AJ Styles will channel the strength of his home state of Georgia. With the weight of 10 million people squarely on his shoulders, Styles will vanquish that dastardly Canadian Kevin Owens and become a three-time United States champion. Ideally, the match would be a no holds barred street fight. The Atlanta Falcons will all be at ringside (despite the show being held in Providence, Rhode Island), and they’ll all attack Kevin Owens. Then the Montreal Canadiens will show up and attack the Falcons. Styles will then perform a Styles Clash to Kevin Owens off the top rope, outside the ring, and onto both teams, who are conveniently brawling near the turnbuckle. Amidst all the strewn bodies at ringside, Styles will roll Owens’ lifeless body into the ring and get the three-count.</p><p>Next week, AJ will announce that he’s holding an Open Challenge. John Cena will answer, because reasons. Kevin Owens will also appear, along with Jinder Mahal. They’ll have a tag team match, and Owens will face Styles at Summerslam for the United States Championship.</p><p>What happens at Summerslam? I think you know.</p><h4>1. Kevin Owens</h4><p></p><p>At Summerslam, Kevin Owens will defeat AJ Styles in a 60-minute 6-pack Iron Man Elimination match that will also feature <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/sami-zayn" title="Sami Zayn">Sami Zayn</a></strong>, <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/tye-dillinger" title="Tye Dillinger">Tye Dillinger</a></strong>, <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/aiden-english" title="Aiden English">Aiden English</a></strong>, and Mike Kannelis. Owens will eliminate Styles by fighting with the weight of 35 million people on his shoulders. Styles will be fighting with the weight of 323 million people on his shoulders, but since his burden is heavier, Owens capitalizes on that and wins.</p><p>Owens will once again proclaim that he will be hosting an open challenge. Styles will demand a match, but Owens will deny him, saying he’s fought him too many times. Styles moves to the back of the line, and Kevin Owens faces new challengers.</p><p>Kevin Owens will then hold on to the United States Championship for the rest of his career. He’ll retire 10 years later, still the United States champion. At his last ever match, it will be for the championship. The match will end in a DQ, and Owens gets to retire with the title, forever the New Face of America.</p>
