Controversial Former WWE Star Says He Is Returning To The Company

That would be a surprise. There have been a lot of wrestlers in WWE over the years and some of them don’t leave the biggest impression. Some certainly do, though not all oft hem are the most positive. You will see some wrestlers who pop up, make a bit of noise, and then fall out of favor with the company in a huge way. One such wrestler is claiming that he is getting another chance. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, former WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio has been telling people that he will be returning to the company following his current legal issues. Del Rio, 44, is currently set to stand trial on October 25 for sexual assault. During his two stints in WWE, he is a former four time World Champion, as well as winning the Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank. There is no word on WWE having any interest in bringing Del Rio back. That’s rather intimidating. There are a lot of people in the wrestling world and some of them are well known not only for what they do in the ring, but also what happens outside of it. Sometimes that can be a very bad situation, which has been the case with a former couple of wrestlers. Even though their relationship has ended, things might not be quite done. Alberto Del Rio and Paige were involved in a romantic relationship from at least May 2016 until December 2017, during which the two were engaged to be married. During their time together, the two had various issues and altercations, including drug issues and alleged domestic violence events. The two ultimately split up but the allegations have continued since. Now Del Rio is at it again with some strong claims. Former WWE World Champion Open To Returning

Are they interested? There have been a lot of wrestlers to come and go through WWE over the years with some of them being more famous than others. Only a handful have reached the top of the company as the World Champion though, and that is the case for a reason. Holding one of those championships is a special honor and now someone who has done it before is interested in returning. During an interview with SportsKeeda, Alberto El Patron, formerly known as Alberto Del Rio in WWE, said that he would be open to a return to WWE in the future. El Patron said that he is sorry for the mistakes that he made and would consider a return as he has learned nothing is personal in wrestling. He mentioned that several of his issues with WWE took place as he was going through a divorce, which put him into a depression. That’s a big no. Alberto Del Rio is one of the more polarizing names in modern wrestling. There is no denying the fact that he’s a very good in-ring performer, but he’s not the most popular guy in the world and has had controversy follow him for a long time now. It’s fairly clear that his in-ring career is winding down, but there’s always the chance of one more run. Is WWE interested? Del Rio recently spoke with Superluchas.com and said that he was interested in a return to WWE. However, according to Fightful.com, WWE has absolutely no interest in bringing Del Rio back to the company. Del Rio reportedly rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and didn’t make things any better when he no showed last year’s Lucha Underground vs. Impact Wrestling event over WrestleMania weekend. <p>Russo opens today’s show by commentating on the recent drama in the relationship between <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/paige" title="Paige">Paige</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/alberto-del-rio" title="Alberto Del Rio">Alberto Del Rio</a></strong>. He says that he met Paige and her family before, and they’re all very nice people. He has also met Del Rio in the past and he was very nice as well. In other words, he likes both of these individuals and he really just wants both of them to be okay.</p><p>He says that he doesn’t put any weight into the headlines written by wrestling ‘journalists’, but the tweets that were sent out by Paige’s brother really caught his attention. Some people forget that Paige is still just a kid, and her family are obviously very concerned about her. He believes that there is love in that relationship and he thinks they’re both good people, so he hopes they can figure this out.</p><p></p><p>Lane mentions that there has been some criticism from dirt sheet writers, Bryan Alvarez in particular, over the fact that Billy Gunn worked the recent NJPW show from the United States. Russo says he’s glad that Gunn wrestled on that show, and he’s glad that he’ll continue to wrestle for the foreseeable future because he’s able to make money doing that. This is a business, and each time Gunn wrestles he gets paid, so what’s the problem here?</p><p>Russo says that Gunn is still a machine at his age. He adds that in a shoot fight, Gunn would give Brock Lesnar a tougher bout than <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/samoa-joe" title="Samoa Joe">Samoa Joe</a></strong> or most other performers on WWE’s roster.</p>

Witness Reveals What Really Went Down Between Paige & Alberto Del Rio

<p>The witness who saw the altercation between <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/paige" title="Paige">Paige</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/alberto-del-rio" title="Alberto Del Rio">Alberto Del Rio</a></strong> recent <a href="https://heavy.com/sports/2017/07/alberto-del-rio-paige-domestic-abuse-incident-witness-uncle-cocaine/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">spoke</a> to Heavy.com regarding the situation. Here are a few notes from what actually transpired:</p><p>– The witness admits to discreetly attempting to take pictures of Paige as she walked and talked on the phone until she was noticed. Paige walked back into the restaurant and one of the four people at her table walked out, presumably to see if she was still there.</p><p>– Paige came storming back out of the restaurant “crying and yelling.” Del Rio, visibly “soaked” in liquid, chased after her as she fled onto the nearby tram system. Page told Del Rio, ‘You’re such an abusive husband, I hate you. You’ve ruined my life, you’ve ruined my career’” Del Rio and Paige continued their argument for a <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/short/" title="short">short</a></strong> while on the tram car as Del Rio said, “Check her bag, she’s got all the coke in it, it’s all hers.” This is when the witness started recording the audio.</p><p>– “<em>Let’s do it, get the cops,”</em> Del Rio can be heard saying in the video. Paige responds by saying, <em>“Just stay out of my life, leave me the f**k alone, I’m trying to get away from you.”</em> This is when Del Rio started claiming that Paige assaulted him.</p><p>– The witness believed the argument between the pair started because Del Rio said inflammatory comments about one of Paige’s family members.</p><p><em>“From what I gather, he said something like, ‘I hope your f***ing uncle dies tomorrow, and grabs her wrist because he was mad she was on the phone for so long,”</em> said the witness. <em>“They wanted to leave, so he got mad and grabbed her wrist. She got upset and threw water on him and she ran out.”</em></p><p>After the audio stopped recording, the witness said that she stayed along with Paige and asked if she needs any assistance.</p><p><em>“I just wanted to help at that point,”</em> she said, noting that an airport security guard with a K-9 stopped Del Rio <em>“because they could smell the alcohol.”</em></p>

Alberto Del Rio Under Investigation for Domestic Violence Incident

<p>Former WWE Superstar & current GFW Champion <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/alberto-del-rio" title="Alberto Del Rio">Alberto Del Rio</a></strong> was detained by police in Orlando yesterday according to witnesses. PWInsider contacted the <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/local/" title="local">local</a></strong> police and was issued this statement:</p><p><em>“There was an incident at Orlando International Airport at about 3 p.m. Sunday involving Jose Rodriguez (DOB 5/25/1977) The reported incident was a domestic violence battery, and it is still under investigation. No arrests have been made as of this time, but the case remains open. That is all the information we have for release at this time.”</em></p><p>Additionally, <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2017/07/10/alberto-del-rio-investigated-for-domestic/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">TMZ reports</a> that an eyewitness said that “there was an altercation” between El Patron and a female companion. While cops have not released the woman’s identity, a witness says <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/paige" title="Paige">Paige</a></strong> was at the airport with El Patron.</p>

<p>As <a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/2017/07/02/slammiversary-spoilers-paige-others-backstage-new-title-belts/">reported</a> earlier, WWE Superstar <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/paige" title="Paige">Paige</a></strong> was spotted backstage at GFW’s Slammiversery pay-per-view. The former 2-Time Diva’s Champion was there to support her fiance, Alberto El Patron who <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/ended/" title="ended">ended</a></strong> up defeating Bobby Lashley to unify the Impact Heavyweight Championship and GFW Championship.</p><p>Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has reported that the duo had indeed broken up last weekend but got back together earlier this week. Theirs has been an on and off relationship as they went on a break at some point in the last year.</p>

Alberto Del Rio Feels WWE Is Ripping Off Their Top Superstars

<p>While speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, former WWE Superstar <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/alberto-del-rio" title="Alberto Del Rio">Alberto Del Rio</a></strong> talked about WWE having a monopoly on the wrestling industry. He also claims that several talents that left the indecent promotions have taken pay cuts up to 80 percent and he feels that several top Superstars of the company are being paid nothing.</p><p><em>“It’s horrible for the business, but you cannot blame that company. That company is <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/doing/" title="doing">doing</a></strong> what a company is supposed to do—monopolize, get the best talent from everywhere, and try to destroy the competition. They’re smart, you cannot blame them. The problem is with the talent. Just going there to be there with the promise of being on TV, but not even charging good money for your work, is not good business. We as wrestlers need to remember that this is a business. We started because we love the business and we stay in it because we have a lot of passion for it, but you have to be rewarded for your work. I was there and saw some of the main guys, new top <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/heels/" title="heels">heels</a></strong>, and new top babyfaces, get paid nothing for their matches. The new talent joining NXT is taking pay cuts to work there, sometimes even 80 percent less. <p>Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane.</p><p>Russo points out the Meltzer reported this past week that <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/alberto-del-rio" title="Alberto Del Rio">Alberto Del Rio</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/paige" title="Paige">Paige</a></strong> had an argument somewhere in Florida. Russo says that this is not news, and it’s just another example of a wrestling ‘journalist’ who is making up a story when there’s no story to be told.</p><p>Lane points out that someone tweeted Dave Meltzer this past week, asking him for his opinion on Russo. Meltzer’s response was, “Life’s too short to worry about people desperate for attention”. Russo says that Meltzer’s responses to these fans are so lame. Russo adds that for someone who’s starving for attention, he’s doing a poor job because he just moved into a <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/cabin/" title="cabin">cabin</a></strong> in the woods.</p><p></p><p>Lane reads some comments from a recent Reddit thread, where fans discuss the differences between the attitude era and the today’s product.</p><p>One fan says that this era’s product is superior to the attitude era because there are better stories, promos, and matches. In addition, the attitude era was a racist, sexist product which was overly aggressive in an attempt to appeal to the ECW fanbase.</p><p>Russo says that he can’t even name one storyline that’s occurring on RAW at the moment. RAW was drawing a 6.0-7.0 rating back during the attitude era, and the notion that they were trying to copy ECW which was drawing a 0.8 rating doesn’t make any sense to him.</p>

Former WWE Superstar Ricardo Rodriguez Retires from Wrestling

<p>Former WWE Superstar Ricardo Rodriguez announced on Facebook that he has retired from in-ring competition.</p><p>He wrote, <em>“So I have decided to hang up the <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/boots/" title="boots">boots</a></strong> and just <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/train/" title="train">train</a></strong>/teach. I’m better at that, anyways, plus real life is getting in the way.”</em></p><p>For those who don’t remember, Rodriguez was part of <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/alberto-del-rio" title="Alberto Del Rio">Alberto Del Rio</a></strong>’s act as his personal ring announcer during Alberto’s first run with the company. WWE and Rodriguez parted ways on July 30, 2014. Since his departure, he has been working the indie circuit.</p>
