Another New Title Grudge Match Added To NXT Takeover 36

That’s where they’re going next. We are less than two weeks away from NXT Takeover 36 and this could be the last time you see the show in this format. There seem to be quite a few changes coming to NXT and that could mean we are in for some very different looking Takeovers in the future. At least this one is looking good and now we have another match set for the show.
This week on NXT, Ted DiBiase interrupted LA Knight and Cameron Grimes. DiBiase said that he wanted to see Grimes figure out a way out of being Knight’s butler because he was too good to be stuck there. Knight eventually agreed to give Grimes another shot at the Million Dollar Title at Takeover 36, but this time, DiBiase would become Knight’s butler if Grimes lost. Despite Grimes’ protests, DiBiase agreed to the terms. Knight has defeated Grimes in their past two title matches.
There is certainly a history here. Check out how we got here:

NXT Live Coverage And Results – August 10, 2021

NXT
Date: August 10, 2021
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Vic Joseph
NXT has been the hot topic in wrestling as of late and that very well may be the case again tonight. There are several major changes rumored, but I don’t think we’re going to be seeing them right away. There is a chance something could be shaken up, but I would bet on it being either more gradual or at least after Takeover. Let’s get to it.
Ember Moon has not been medically cleared tonight so we have a replacement for her scheduled match against Sarray.
Sarray vs. Dakota Kai Kai promises to make an example out of Sarray on her way to Takeover. They trade arm cranks to start with Sarray getting the better of things. Kai gets taken to the mat for a quickly broken Muta Lock so she fires off some kicks to Sarray’s back to take over. A suplex gives Kai two but she gets pulled into some kind of really cranked half crab. The slow crawl to the rope gets Kai out of troubl..

Impact Wrestling Results – August 5, 2021

Impact Wrestling
Date: August 5, 2021
Location: Skyway Studios, Nashville, Tennessee
Commentators: D’Lo Brown, Matt Striker
We’re still in the middle of the Kenny Omega Era and that means he needs a new #1 contender. That is what we get to find out next week, but for now we still have some more things to cover first. Since this is modern wrestling, the Bullet Club is involved, as Jay White and company are fighting against the Elite, including a six man tag this week. Let’s get to it.
Opening recap.
Opening sequence.
Chris Bey vs. Juice Robinson Jay White and David Finlay are here too. Bey dropkicks him into the corner at the bell and Robinson gets stomped down in a hurry. Robinson gets sent outside and something like a 619 on the mat takes him down again. Back in and Robinson catches Bey’s kick to the ribs, only to get pulled into a sleeper. Robinson slips out so Bey hits a Fameasser for two. Robinson is back with a spinebuster for a breather and they’re both down for a bit. The Ca..

Malakai Black: Destined To Become AEW’s Top Heel?

Malakai Black made a huge statement upon his recent arrival in AEW. That statement came when he attacked Cody Rhodes on the July 7 edition of Dynamite. That attack later lead to a one-on-one match that aired live on the August 4 Dynamite.
Black won that match in convincing fashion and in doing so, firmly cemented himself as a top player in Tony Khan’s company. So now that he’s making his way in his new environment, how long until he becomes the company’s top heel?
Black’s fans are certainly not surprised by the impact Malakai has already made. They saw his potential when he was still Aleister Black in WWE. They also saw how that company mishandled him near the end of his main roster run. It was an all-too familiar song that unfortunately, has been repeated quite a bit in recent years.

Titus O’Neil Helps 30,000 Children Get Ready For School

That’s just nice. Every now and then, you find a wrestler who takes their celebrity status and runs with it. They will use their resources to help positively impact a community in one way or another, often through charitable activities. Sometimes a wrestler does more charity work than actual wrestling, with such a situation being on display during this week’s Monday Night Raw.
This week’s Monday Night Raw featured a video on Titus O’Neil hosting the 4th Annual Back To School Bash at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The event saw 30,000 children receive backpacks full of school supplies as they begin the new year. O’Neil has been regularly involved with charitable activities and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a recipient of the Warrior Award in 2020.
He’s a good guy. Check out O’Neil’s efforts at the Bash and some of his other charity work:

SmackDown Star Makes Surprise Appearance On Monday Night Raw

Nice to see you. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, there is almost no choice but to split them up into different rosters with exclusive wrestlers. It is the best way to keep things moving with so many wrestlers, but there are ways to get wrestlers from one show onto another in short order. That was the case again this week in a moment that was better than it should have been.
This week’s Monday Night Raw featured a special appearance from Baron Corbin. Early in the show, Corbin announced that he was here at the request of Jinder Mahal, who offered to pay him to take out Drew McIntyre. This comes after Corbin has fallen on hard financial times and needed the money. Corbin was able to appear based on the Brand To Brand Invitational, which allowed one wrestler to appear on the opposite show four times a year. Corbin was defeated by McIntyre in their match.
Things have been going badly for Corbin as of late. Check out what has been going wrong:

Riddle Offers Update On Backstage Feud With Goldberg

Can’t we all just get along? Wrestlers are tasked with a rather difficult trick: pretend to fight each other and convince everyone else that what they are seeing is real. It is a hard trick to pull off but the right people doing it the right way can work well. At the same time, there are instances where the issues are a little more real backstage. That was the case again recently, but it could have been worse.
During an interview with Sony Sports India by way of SportsKeeda.com, WWE star Riddle spoke about his real life backstage altercations with Goldberg. The two have had issues before due to some comments that Riddle has made about Goldberg’s wrestling as well as calling him “bro”. Goldberg was back on Monday Night Raw in July and ran into Riddle before his segment. The two exchanged pleasantries with Goldberg congratulating Riddle on his success. Riddle described Goldberg as nice and the two spoke again briefly after Goldberg’s segment.
These two have a complicated relationship. ..

REVIEW: Monday Night Raw – August 9, 1999: This Guy Has Something

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Monday Night Raw
Date: August 9, 1999
Location: Allstate Arena, Chicago, Illinois
Attendance: 13,713
Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler
The date should look familiar to you because this show is a pretty famous one. Well at least it has a pretty famous moment, as the Countdown to the Millennium comes to a close. I know we are coming up on Summerslam, but there are some times where one moment overshadows everything and that’s what we are getting here. Let’s get to it.
The countdown is on.

WATCH: WWE Star Says He Is Dead In Confusing Vignette

Call it a change. A wrestler has to do a lot of things, but one of the most important is their character. Not only do you have to find a good one, but you also have to find one that fits the wrestler as well as possible. That can be rather tricky a lot of the time and on occasion, an adjustment needs to be made. It seems that we have seen such an adjustment again, and it might surprise you.
A video on Elias aired during this week’s Monday Night Raw. The video featured Elias walking around a fire as clips of his matches with Jaxson Ryker aired. At the end, Elias eventually burned his guitar and walked away, saying that he once said that WWE stood for Walk With Elias. Now though, Elias knew that he was dead. It is not clear what kind of a new character this may lead to.
Elias has wrestled for WWE since 2014, appearing both in NXT and on the main roster. During his time with the company, the guitar has been Elias’ signature as he regularly sings about either his opponent or whatever cit..

VIDEO: Top WWE Star Returns On Monday Night Raw In Surprising Action

Welcome home. Things are constantly moving in WWE and that was the case before everything went nuts in the last year and a half. Sometimes you will see a wrestler leave for no apparent reason, which opens up a variety of questions. In addition to finding out why they are gone, there is the matter of finding out what they are going to do once they get back. Now we know one of the two.
Randy Orton made his return to WWE television during this week’s Monday Night Raw. This week marked Orton’s first appearance in seven weeks, though he did not explain why he missed the time. Orton opened the show and got into an argument with AJ Styles, who he ultimately defeated in the show’s main event. After the match, Riddle, Orton’s unofficial tag partner, got in the ring to ask Orton for a hug. Orton eventually relented but then hit Riddle with an RKO to end the show, though commentary suggested that the team might not be done.
Orton and Riddle have been teaming together on and off for the last sev..

Another New Title Match Announced For Summerslam

Keep it growing. Summerslam has some special potential this year and that is a great thing for WWE to see. The company could be in for an awesome night as there are so many things to put on the card. That could include anything from special feuds to gimmick matches to title matches or maybe all of the above. One of them was added to the card this week.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Damian Priest challenged Sheamus to a United States Title match at Summerslam. Sheamus accepted, making the match official. The match came about after Priest called out Sheamus after defeating John Morrison. Sheamus came back into the arena and accepted the challenge, after which Priest had to take out Morrison against.
Priest debuted on the main roster at the 2021 Royal Rumble after over a year in NXT. During his debut, he began a feud with the Miz and John Morrison, ultimately leading to a tag match where Priest and Bad Bunny defeated the two of them at WrestleMania 37. Following a brief hiatus due to a..

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – August 9, 2021

Monday Night Raw
Date: August 9, 2021
Location: Amway Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton
It’s a homecoming of sorts for Raw as they are back in the original Thunderdome about a year after they arrived in the first place. We are less than two weeks away from Summerslam and while most of the card is set, there are still a few adjustments that need to be made. Now just don’t have a horrible show. Let’s get to it.
Here is the returning Randy Orton to a heck of a face reaction. Orton grabs the mic but here’s Riddle to cut him off. Riddle is REALLY happy that Orton is back because now they can be a team again. Riddle wants to know where Orton has been because his stepdad left like that too and never came home. Orton asks why Riddle thinks Orton wants to be a team with someone as goofy as Riddle. He talks about how ridiculous Riddle is, prompting Riddle to ask if that means Orton doesn’t want to team with him.
Cue Omos and AJ Styles, with AJ talk..
