Backstage News WWE Power Struggle Over NXT Failures

That explains a lot. There have been a lot of changes and shakeups taking place in WWE in recent weeks and a lot of them have been related to NXT. It seems that WWE is not thrilled with the way NXT has been put together and now things have been shaken up more than ever. Someone has to be the target of that and now we know not just who that is, but why they are taking the blame.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Triple H is being blamed for NXT’s failure in the Wednesday Night Wars against AEW Dynamite. This is said to be part of a power struggle between Triple H and various unnamed detractors who are scared for their future in WWE if Triple H gains power. These struggles are said to be the reason for NXT wrestlers failing on the main roster, including Karrion Kross losing twice on Monday Night Raw while undefeated NXT Champion.
Triple H has had his moments in NXT. Check out some of his time there:

WATCH: Ric Flair Makes Surprise Wrestling Appearance Over The Weekend

Woo again. There are certain wrestlers who practically transcend wrestling and it is always interesting to see what they are up to. It is not the case with a great number of wrestlers but you know one when you see one. That person can do almost anything they want and will still be a legend no matter what. One such name did something on Saturday that he may never have done before.
Ric Flair made a surprise, unannounced appearance at Saturday’s AAA TripleMania XXIX event in Mexico City, Mexico. Flair accompanied Andrade El Idolo to the ring for his AAA Mega Title shot against Kenny Omega, which saw Omega retain the title. The match saw Flair get involved and chop Omega a few times. El Idolo is engaged to Flair’s daughter Charlotte. This is the first time that Flair has appeared for a promotion based in Mexico.
Flair’s appearance comes less than a month after he requested and received his release from WWE. The move made him a free agent, though it is not clear how long his no compete cl..

VIDEO: Even The NFL Is Talking About AEW And CM Punk

It’s kind of a big deal. There have been a lot of changes in the wrestling world over the last few years and a lot of them have to do with AEW. The still relatively new promotion has really shaken things up, mainly due to offering wrestlers a new place to go. A lot of wrestlers have taken AEW up on the offer, and now a potential new name is getting some publicity in advance.
On Saturday, the NFL Network’s Adam Rank mention CM Punk’s expected AEW debut during a highlight of the Chicago Bears vs. Miami Dolphins game. Punk is widely expected to make his first appearance for AEW during this coming Friday’s Rampage from Chicago, Illinois. Punk’s debut has yet to be officially confirmed by the company, but multiple hints have been dropped alluding to him appearing.
Call it an open secret. Check out the clip, plus some of Punk’s biggest moments:

You Might Not Be Seeing As Much Kenny Omega In The Future

So long for now? There are so many wrestling promotions in the world these days that it makes sense to have wrestlers work for more than one at once. It can be interesting to see what they do differently in one place than the other, but sometimes you are getting pretty much the same person. Now though, some people who have been working for multiple promotions might have one less job taking up their time.
This week on the debut edition of AEW Rampage, Christian Cage defeated Kenny Omega to become the new Impact Wrestling World Champion. Following the win, Impact Wrestling executive Scott D’Amore sent out a tweet saying that it was time to say goodbye to Omega and his manager Don Callis. While not confirmed, this would suggest that Omega and Callis are done with Impact Wrestling. There has been no announcement of Omega receiving a rematch for the title.
It feels like the world is right again. After tonight’s @AEW #AEWRampage the @IMPACTWRESTLING World Title belongs to @Christian4Peeps…

Big Free Agent Name Expected To Sign With AEW

Are you surprised? There have been a lot of moves made in the wrestling world over the last few months, with wrestlers leaving one promotion to head to another. Almost every combination of moves have taken place with some rather big names making a jump of some time. That seems like it is going to be the case again sooner rather than later with quite the legendary name.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the belief backstage in AEW is the Ric Flair will be joining the company as soon as he is legally able to do so. Flair was released from WWE in July and is waiting on his no compete clause to end before he can join AEW. There is no word on how long his no compete clause lasts before he will be allowed to move. It is also not clear what Flair will be doing in AEW.
Flair is always worth a look. Check out some of his long career:

205 Live Results – August 6, 2021

205 Live
Date: August 6, 2021
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness
Believe it or not, then everything changed again. This time around, WWE has released almost everyone on the 205 Live roster, meaning the show could look very strange in the coming weeks. This show was taped in advance though, meaning this is going to be a pretty stand alone edition. That’s as opposed to the rest of the shows of course. Let’s get to it.
Leon Ruff vs. Grayson Waller The fans are behind Ruff, even as Waller powers him to the mat and gets in the hair slapping. Back up and Ruff knocks him to the floor without much effort, meaning it’s Waller’s turn to be annoyed. Waller gets back inside and is knocked into the corner so Ruff hammers away. That takes a bit too long though as Waller reverses into an electric chair suplex for a cool counter. A slingshot double stomp to the back in the corner rocks Ruff again and Waller drops him with a tilt-a-whirl ba..

Christian’s AEW ‘Rampage’ Win Sets The Stage For ‘All Out’

Christian Cage became the new Impact World champion on Friday, August 13. The win came after the opening match on AEW Rampage, which featured Cage versus Kenny Omega. This was Omega’s first title loss since “collecting” several championships over the past year.
Cage’s victory in front of the red hot Pittsburgh crowd is perhaps a surprise to many fans. Omega does inevitably retain in the big match environment, after all. It’s not that Christian wasn’t valued as a title contender going into the bout. But AEW loves to tease an Omega loss and it never happens. However, now that Cage has won, it does set the table for his showdown against Kenny at All Out.

The Christian Coalition News of Christian’s AEW Championship match versus Omega came on the August 11 edition of Dynamite. Cage was recently declared the new No.1 Contender to Omega’s title, so fans knew a match was coming. But no one seemed to believe it would come at All Out on September 5…

VIDEO: Surprise Return Takes Place During AEW Rampage

Welcome back. AEW has shaken up the wrestling world and what makes things even more impressive is how fast they have done so. The promotion has not even been around for three years yet and its flagship TV show has not even hit its second anniversary. Despite this, the promotion has quite the history and someone from that history has made a surprise return.
Jamie Hayter made her return to AEW at the end of this week’s edition of Rampage. Following Britt Baker’s successful defense of her AEW Women’s Title over Red Velvet, Kris Statlander attacked Baker. This drew out Hayter for the save to end the show. Hayter has not appeared in AEW in nearly two years and has only wrestled for AEW twice, including a loss to Baker in November 2019.
It was a big return. Check out Hayter, plus some of her time elsewhere:

New Grudge Match Added To Summerslam Card

Keep them coming. We are just over a week away from Summerslam, which remains one of WWE’s biggest events of the year. It is the kind of card that the company is going to want to stack as many big matches as they can manage. There are some top names on the WWE roster and it makes sense to put some of them together on the show. Now they have added another match to the card.
WWE has announced that Drew McIntyre will face Jinder Mahal at Summerslam. The match comes after Mahal became annoyed at McIntyre for not having time for him and attempting to steal McIntyre’s sword. McIntyre also destroyed Mahal’s custom motorcycle and has also attacked Mahal’s associates, Veer and Shanky. The two also met on the July 5 Monday Night Raw, when McIntyre won via disqualification.
It took some time to get here. Check out how the match was set up:

REVIEW: No Mercy 2017: The Cena vs. Reigns Showdown

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
No Mercy 2017
Date: September 24, 2017
Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California
Commentators: Michael Cole, Booker T., Corey Graves
I don’t remember being this excited for a B pay per view in a very long time. This show is all about the double main event with a combination of Brock Lesnar defending the Universal Title against Braun Strowman and John Cena vs. Roman Reigns in one heck of a big time match. That should be more than enough to carry this show so let’s get to it.
Kickoff Show: Elias vs. Apollo ..

Coronavirus Causes More Problems For NXT

Unpack those bags. The Coronavirus has changed the way the world works and that certainly includes wrestling. While things are starting to get back to normal, there are still several things that are not quite what they were before. The virus is still causing issues and now one of the bigger issues is going to be changing plans for a fairly big wrestling promotion.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has canceled the plans for NXT to return to touring. NXT had been planning to return to its regular Florida touring schedule in July but no events have been held. Florida is currently experiencing more cases of the Coronavirus than anywhere else in the country and WWE is worried about another outbreak in the NXT locker room.
NXT has a history at these shows. Check out some of their moments:

Here’s The Odd Reason Vince McMahon Changed WWE Stars’ Names

I guess it makes sense? A wrestler’s name is one of the most important things about their entire persona. The right name can make someone feel that much more important but the wrong name can put their career on the entirely wrong track. WWE has a strange habit of changing names out of nowhere and now we know why two names were switched. It turns out to have been the whim of one person.
During an interview on the What Do You Call It podcast, former WWE star Tucker said that he and Otis lost their first names in WWE due to Vince McMahon. According to Tucker, McMahon did not like how long it took to introduce their full names. Tucker and Otis were formerly known as Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic, but McMahon cut off their last names. Tucker was released from WWE earlier this year.
It was quite the interview. Check out the full video (with the story beginning at about 56:45) and some of the team in action:
