WATCH: The Rock vs. John Cena From WrestleMania 29

The redemption story. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube page in which they show the full match between The Rock and John Cena for the WWE Championship from WrestleMania 29.

From WWE.com:
As their battle progressed, the two Superstars abandoned all pretenses and cued up the heavy artillery, tossing signature maneuvers at each other in the hopes of keeping the other down. For a moment, it seemed like Cena had the advantage again when Rock nearly fell victim to the same hubris as his opponent last year, attempting Cena’s Five Knuckle Shuffle and running straight into Cena’s waiting arms for an AA. The Cenation leader later used the same history to his advantage when he suckered Rock into another AA after faking him out with a façade of the same People’s Elbow endeavor that cost him the bout last year.
Victory would not come so easily at the cost of The People’s Champion, though, and the ba..

New Grudge Match Set For Summerslam

There is still time. We are less than a week away from Summerslam and this year’s edition might be the biggest show that WWE has to offer all year. The show is going to be taking place in an NFL stadium for the first time, meaning WWE is going to be trying even harder than usual to make things work. That means they are going to add in everything that they can, which was the case this week.
This week on Monday Night Raw, a match between Alexa Bliss and Eva Marie was officially added to the Summerslam card. The match comes after Marie has not been impressed by Bliss and her doll Lillie, which has caused Bliss to go after Marie in return. Lillie the doll has also seemingly used her powers to annoy Marie, as well as cost Marie’s associate Doudrop a match against Bliss last week on Monday Night Raw. This will be Marie’s first televised singles match since 2016.
They have taken a strange path to get here. Check out what set things up:

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – August 16, 2021

Monday Night Raw
Date: August 16, 2021
Location: AT&T Center, San Antonio, Texas
Commentators: Corey Graves, Byron Saxton, Jimmy Smith
It’s the go home show for Summerslam and that means it is time for the big final push towards Goldberg vs. Bobby Lashley. That’s the big focal point of this show, no matter how uninteresting it might be. Maybe they can come up with something to set up their three minute match on Saturday. Let’s get to it.
The opening video looks at Randy Orton returning last week and attacking Riddle to end the show.
Here is Randy Orton to open things up. Orton talks about how he does not need fans but has to stop for the RKO chants. This is still his world and tonight he promises to take Omos out with the RK…..and here is Riddle to cut him off before the O. Riddle thinks that Orton was trying to teach him something last week.
Orton isn’t sure what that means, but Riddle says that he gave him the RKO last week to show Riddle how it is really done. As Orton tries not..

Roman Reigns Opens Up On Jimmy Uso’s DUI Arrest

He would know. There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster and sometimes they make headlines for the wrong reasons. It could be anything from a minor deal to a major issue but sometimes you see a wrestler getting some bad attention. That was the case with a WWE star earlier this year and now someone pretty close to them is opening up about what happened.
WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns recently spoke with the New York Post and discussed his cousin Jimmy Uso’s recent DUI arrest. Reigns talked about how everyone makes mistakes at times and rather than piling onto Uso, he attempted to jump in with love and help in an attempt to help Uso become a better person. Uso was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in July, marking his fourth arrest for such an offense. He was never suspended by WWE and the Usos won the SmackDown Tag Team Titles less than two weeks after the arrest.
Reigns and the Usos do have a history. Check out what the three of them have done together:

WWE Falsely Advertises Charlotte For Live Event

They shouldn’t do that. WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world and that puts them in a rather special situation. They are able to run more events than any other promotion in the country and they are going to get more attention than anyone else. This time though, some of the attention they received is not leaving them in the best light.
According to PWInsider.com, Charlotte did not appear at this weekend’s WWE live event in Charlotte, North Carolina as she was in Mexico City for AAA TripleMania. Charlotte’s fiance Andrade El Idolo, accompanied by Charlotte’s father Ric Flair, unsuccessfully challenged Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega Title at the event, with Charlotte in attendance as well. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Charlotte requested the night off from WWE “some time ago”, though WWE continued to advertise her for the show anyway. Charlotte also missed the Sunday night WWE live event in Columbia, South Carolina.
Charlotte is going to be a big ..

A Top Summerslam Match Could Be In Big Jeopardy

That’s not a good sign. We are less than a week away from Summerslam, which has all of the makings of the biggest WWE event of the year. There are some huge matches already set for the card and the show should be great if WWE can pull everything off. However, one of the matches might be in some jeopardy of not taking place, at least if this weekend is any indication.
According to PWInsider.com, neither Sasha Banks nor Bianca Belair appeared at Sunday’s WWE live event in Columbia, South Carolina. Belair had been scheduled to defend her SmackDown Women’s Title against Banks at the event but neither were on the show, with “unforeseen circumstances” cited. This is the second straight show the two have missed and there is no word on what is wrong or when they will be back in action. The two are scheduled to meet for the title at Summerslam.
Belair and Banks feuded from late January through WrestleMania 37 in April, where Belair defeated Banks to win the SmackDown Women’s Title. Banks disa..

WATCH: Special Moment At WWE Live Event (A Towel Is Involved)

Sometimes it takes….a towel? Stables are a really easy concept in the WWE because they can accomplish a lot without really needing much effort. Put three or more wrestlers together with some sort of shared trait and everything can work out rather well. That has been the case for a long time, and this weekend saw a fairly special moment between a former team.
On Sunday night, WWE ran a live event in Columbia, South Carolina. One of the matches on the card saw New Day defeat Bobby Lashley and MVP. Either during or after the match, former New Day member Big E. came to ringside in a towel to distract Lashley, allowing New Day to take Lashley out. Big E. then left, holding the towel together on his way out. In a related note, Big E. is currently Mr. Money in the Bank and could cash in his briefcase on Lashley.
This was an eventful one. Check out what happened, plus the people involved:

VIDEO: First Time Ever Match Takes Place Over The Weekend (This Is Cool)

That’s a new one. Independent wrestling can offer a lot of unique options. Sometimes you can find something at an independent wrestling event that you are jut not going to see elsewhere. This might not always be the most thrilling thing, but there are some instances where you see something you never would expect. That was certainly the case over the weekend.
Over the weekend, Jerry Lawler defeated nZo, formerly known as Enzo Amore, in a casket match at New England Wrestling Wrestlefest 25 in Poughkeepsie, New York. This was the first ever match between the two. Lawler has been a semi-regular for Northeast Western for most of the last twenty years and is a former Tag Team Champion. Nzo is also a semi-regular for the promotion and wrestles around the independent circuit.
It was certainly unique. Check out how the match went, plus both of the two in separate action:

AEW Prevented Major Weekend Title Change

They do have a bit of pull. There are a lot of wrestling promotions in the world today but only a handful of them are at the top of the heap. Those promotions are able to do some things that you do not see elsewhere and it can make for some very interesting moments. That seems to be the case again, as there were some international strings being pulled over the weekend.
Last Friday, Kenny Omega lost the Impact Wrestling World Title to Christian Cage during the debut episode of AEW Rampage. The following night, Omega successfully defended the AAA Mega Championship against Andrade El Idolo at AAA TripleMania 29. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the original plan called for El Idolo to win the title but AEW requested that the title change be postponed. AEW has control over Omega’s finishes and did not want Omega losing on back to back nights. Omega is currently scheduled to defend the AEW World Title on September 5 at All Out.
I can see why AEW would be worried. Check out the Omega..

NXT Is Already Set For Its First Major Change

That’s certainly a change. NXT has been a rather well received weekly wrestling series and promotion for a long time, but things are shifting a bit. Following the Wednesday Night Wars against AEW Dynamite, it seemed that something needed to be adjusted. Those changes have already started and more are on the way. Now we know one big thing that will take NXT back to its roots.
According to Fightful Select, NXT will be taping several weeks of television on Monday August 23 and Tuesday August 24, the days after Takeover 36. Some regular NXT fans have already sent emails asking about tickets for the tapings. The following weeks will be a mixture of live and taped shows, though there is nothing to suggest that this will be a permanent change. NXT began airing live events in November 2019.
They know how to do the taped thing. Check out some NXT from days past:

Jay White Leading A Bullet Club Invasion In AEW?

Jay White retained the IWGP NEVER Openweight Championship against David Finally at NJPW Resurgence. The event took place on Friday, August 13 live from The Torch at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The defacto Bullet Club leader came into the match with quite the buzz surrounding him, thanks to his recent stint in Impact Wrestling.
That stint includes the addition of Chris Bey into the Bullet Club’s ranks. White is met with cheers and full crowd support despite where he goes, which is understandable. American fans admire King Switch’s work from afar and that is typically always the case. But this is about more than just Jay getting over in the United States. Is The Bullet Club gearing up for an American invasion?

Two Top WWE Stars Unexpectedly Miss Saturday’s Live Event

That doesn’t sound good. WWE is just starting to get back to normal after the Coronavirus pandemic but things are far from out of the woods. There are still a lot of things to take care of, including getting used to be being back on the road full time. The company has been back for almost a month now, but there are still a few rough spots. That was on display this weekend.
According to PWInsider.com, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks did not appear at Saturday’s WWE live event in Charlotte, North Carolina. The official reason given was “unforeseen circumstances” with no specifics given. There is nothing to suggest that either have tested positive for the Coronavirus. The two were scheduled to face off for the title. Another match between the two is scheduled for Sunday night and it is not clear if the match will still be taking place. Both women appeared on this week’s SmackDown.
Hopefully it isn’t bad. Check out the two of them when they are available:
