WWE Not Ending Longstanding Relationship After All

That’s an important thing to keep. Last year saw the wrestling world turned upside down by the Coronavirus pandemic. It was like nothing we have ever seen before and that is the kind of thing that can cause all kinds of problems for the industry as a whole. One of the biggest changes was due to shows being held in the same venues over and over. Things are back to normal now, but WWE might have held something in their back pocket.
Earlier this month, a new report said that WWE had ended its relationship with Full Sail University and there would be no more events held at the venue. However, according to PWInsider.com, there is still something of a relationship between the two sides. Full Sail students still work on all aspects of NXT television tapings and the door is open for a return to the venue when the Coronavirus pandemic restrictions are lifted.
Full Sail has been good for NXT over the years. Check out some of the events the venue has hosted:

Main Event Results – August 19, 2021

Main Event
Date: August 19, 2021
Location: AT&T Center, San Antonio, Texas
Commentators: Kevin Patrick, Byron Saxton
It’s the go home show for Summerslam and that means we should be in for a completely run of the mill edition of Main Event. Hopefully the show winds up surprising me, as you never know what you might be seeing around here. I mean, save for the build to Summerslam of course. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Cedric Alexander vs. Jaxson Ryker Alexander charges at him to start and is knocked down in a hurry. Back up and Alexander kicks at the leg, only to get slammed down. A running headbutt connects, only to have Alexander come back with more shots to the leg, including in the corner. Alexander grabs a kneebar to keep Ryker down and there’s a leg twist to make it worse. Back up again and Ryker runs him over one more time, this time for two. A quick brainbuster gives Alexander two more but the springboard clothesline misses, allowing Ryker to grab the swinging Boss Man ..

New Rule Put In Place For AEW All Out

That could change things. The Coronavirus has shaken up the entire world and that is likely to continue to be the case for a long time to come. The wrestling world has certainly not escaped the changes, as there have been several adjustments made throughout the industry. Things have been getting back to normal, but one upcoming major show will be dealing with a change of its own.
According to NBC Chicago, Illinois Governor J. B. Prtizker has issued a state wide indoor mask mandate regardless of someone’s vaccination status. This means that fans will be required to wear a mask at AEW All Out, which takes place on September 5 in Chicago, Illinois. There is no word on what will happen if a fan refuses to comply with the new mandate.
AEW is worth the extra effort. Check out some of the build towards All Out:

Update On Chris Jericho’s AEW Contract Status

It might be a bit. AEW has come a long way in its time as a promotion, but that time has not been very long when you think about it. The company only ran its first show about two and a half years ago, meaning that they do not have the longest history in the world. There are some things they have not yet experienced, and now we know when one of those things is going to be taking place.
This week on AEW Dynamite, Chris Jericho challenged Maxwell Jacob Friedman to a match at All Out with Jericho’s career on the line. Should Jericho lose, he has agreed to never wrestle for AEW again and move into a full time commentary role. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Jericho signed a three year deal in 2019 with a one year option, meaning that he will be with AEW until some point in 2023.
Jericho has been a force in AEW. Check out some of his time in the company:

Ring Of Honor TV Results – August 18, 2021

Ring of Honor
Date: August 18, 2021
Location: UMBC Center, Baltimore, Maryland
Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman
We’re still in the middle of the Women’s Title tournament and the results have been hit and miss so far. As tends to be the case in a tournament with a bunch of unknowns, some of the matches have outshone the others, there have been a few that didn’t exactly offer much. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
We open with a recap of some previous round matches.
Ian Riccaboni previews the dead.
Holidead talks rather fast and seems angry about a lot of things.
Max the Impaler is the next monster heel and has Amy Rose in her corner to promise violence in destruction.
Women’s Title Tournament First Round: Max the Impaler vs. Holidead Holidead crawls around and shouts a lot to start and they trade some forearms to the face. Max shrugs off some clotheslines in the corner and sends Holidead flying. Holidead manages a slam but Max does the Undertaker situp to freak her ..

KB’s Review: In Other News: Wrestling Weekend Edition

We are officially done with one of the busiest wrestling weekends of the year (dubbed the Wrestling Weekend in a great show of creativity) and a lot went down. This weekend felt like it was Wrestlemania in the summer and that is not a bad thing. As tends to be the case in a weekend like this, I have either overlooked something or not gotten to talk about it enough.
That’s what we’re doing this week, as I am going to look at some of the bigger, or in some cases more interesting, stories from the weekend. In this case that will include Rampage, Summerslam, Takeover 36 and Monday Night Raw, as you have to cut it off somewhere and there is a completely ridiculous amount of wrestling going on at the moment. Some of these stories will be bigger than others, but I limited myself to ten choices for the sake of cutting myself off somewhere. Let’s get to it.
These are in no particular order. Some are positive and some are negative.

Shakeup? WWE Pushing For A Change For Walter

I would want him too. WWE has one of the deepest rosters in the wrestling world and that allows them to do a few different things. If nothing else, it allows them to try out different wrestlers in different spots and see what they can do with them. Some of these possibilities can be rather interesting and now WWE seems to have something else in mind for their future plans.
According to PWInsider.com, some people in WWE are attempting to get NXT UK’s Walter to be added to the NXT roster. This comes after Walter lost the United Kingdom Title to Ilja Dragunov at NXT Takeover 36, ending his two plus year reign. However, it is not known if this will take place, as Walter has previously made it clear that he has no desire to move to the United States.
Walter would be pretty great in NXT. Check out what he has done in WWE:

Injury Takes Place During NXT Taping (Contains *SPOILER*)

That’s never good to hear. There are all kinds of problems that a wrestler can go through and several of them can be rather nasty. One of the worst is an injury, as you never know when someone could be put on the shelf for a long time. There are also injuries that are only part of a storyline, which does make things a little bit better. An injury of some kind seems to have taken place this week.
According to Bodyslam.net, Mandy Rose was injured during this week’s NXT tapings. During a match against Sarray, Rose was dropkicked out to the floor and landed hard. As a result, her associates Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne carried Rose to the back, resulting in a countout loss. It is not clear if the injury is a storyline or a legitimate injury. There is no word on what kind of injury Rose suffered. This match will air on August 31.
Rose has been improving in recent months. Check out some of her recent time:

REVIEW: Super ShowDown 2020: So Much For The Fiend

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Super ShowDown 2020
Date: February 27, 2020
Location: Mohammed Abdu Arena on the Boulevard, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton
We’re back in Saudi Arabia and for the first time ever, they’re on a streak of a good show. Last October’s Crown Jewel was a pretty good show, though I’m not sure what reason I would have to believe that will be the case again here. I’m not sure how the main event of Goldberg vs. the Fiend is going to go though and that’s a nice feeling. Let’s get t..

AEW Adds Three New Matches To All Out Card

The build is on fast. We are less than two weeks away from AEW’s latest pay per view with All Out and that is a good thing for wrestling fans. AEW has a very nice track record with its pay per view events and there is a strong chance that we could be in for another solid show this time around. There are still some matches to be added to the card though and AEW took care of them this week.
AEW announced three new matches for All Out during this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite. One of the matches announced was a title match, as Women’s Champion Britt Baker will defend against Kris Statlander. Second, Jon Moxley sent an open contract to New Japan Pro Wrestling, with former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, AJPW Triple Crown Champion and NWA World Champion Satoshi Kojima accepting the challenge.
Finally, Chris Jericho and Maxwell Jacob Friedman will face off in their final match. This comes after Jericho failed in the fifth Labor of Jericho on last week’s edition of Dynamite. As a result, Jerich..

Get The Paperwork Ready: WWE Making Effort To Re-Sign Star

Lock him up. One of the biggest changes taking place over the last few months has been the amount of wrestlers leaving WWE. Some of them have been thrown out the door due to budget cuts, but others have allowed their contracts to expire without signing a new deal with the company. WWE is going to be wanting to sign some wrestlers up, and now it seems they have a new target.
According to Fightful Select, WWE is attempting to sign Pete Dunne to a contract extension, though it is not clear how long of a deal WWE is offering. There is no word on if Dunne has signed the deal or if he is interested in signing a new deal with the company. Dunne signed with WWE in 2017, though it is not clear when his current contract will expire. He is currently wrestling in NXT.
Dunne is worth keeping around. Check out what WWE wants to re-sign:

SmackDown Personality Confirms Positive Coronavirus Test

It can happen to anyone. The Coronavirus has changed the way a lot of people live and that is going to be the case for a good while to come. While things have been getting a bit better due to the availability of vaccines, there are still thousands of cases every single day. Some of these have likely impacted the wrestling world, and now we know for sure that one of them has.
SmackDown broadcaster Pat McAfee has announced that he has tested positive for the Coronavirus. McAfee said that he is fully vaccinated but he will be staying home for awhile. There is no word on who will be taking his spot on the SmackDown announce team or if anyone else in WWE has tested positive. McAfee called Summerslam with Michael Cole on Sunday.
Fully Vax’d.
Very Positive.
Aht Indefinitely.
It’s miserable but thankful that my wife and the boys at the office all took tests and they are all negative..
This is obviously a sign from the universe, probably telling me that I stink & to stay home for a while…
