WATCH: Emotional Speech After AEW Dynamite

We’ll call it a nightcap. There are very few things in wrestling as energetic as an AEW crowd. The company has put together some incredible events and the fans are very hungry for what they are presenting. You do not get to see something like that very often and it is important for the company to keep that energy going. They did that again after this week’s show was over.
The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw Sammy Guevara defeat Miro to become the new TNT Champion. After the show was over, Guevara celebrated in the ring and talked about how he wanted to be the best TNT Champion he could be. However, he knew that he could never feel the shoes of Brodie Lee. The show took place in Lee’s hometown of Rochester, New York.
It was an emotional night. Check out the speech, the title change, and the man worth a tribute:

REVIEW: Monday Nitro – September 27,1999: The Mediocre Old Days

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Monday Nitro #210
Date: September 27, 1999
Location: Phillips Arena, Atlanta, Georgia
Attendance: 11,919
Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Bobby Heenan
It’s time to continue into this downward spiral that Nitro has become. Tonight they have a major six man tag with Hogan/Hart/Flair teaming up to face Luger/Sting/Page. Keep that in mind. This is one of the few times that the show has set up a major match a week in advance and actually hyped it up. I’ll come back to that later. Let’s get to it.

Another Former NXT Star Coming To AEW For Title Shot

He’s up first. There is all kinds of talent on the AEW roster and the company has a tendency to bring in a lot more talent in a hurry. That can make for some interesting changes to the roster as you never know who you might see pop up at any given time. Some of them are more prominent than others, and now we are going to be seeing another familiar face pop in for a bit.
During this week’s premiere episode of Rhodes To The Top, a special video aired featuring an interview with new TNT Champion Sammy Guevara. After winning the title during the main event of AEW Dynamite, Guevara said that he received a text from former NXT star Bobby Fish, who has issued a challenge. Guevara accepted the challenge for next week on Dynamite. According to PWInsider.com, this will not be a one off appearance for Fish, who was released from WWE over the summer.
I’d like to congratulate the new TNT Champion @sammyguevara and be the first to challenge him for that title. Ready to walk through the forbidden d..

Update On Randy Orton’s WWE Status

I guess that’s something. With so many wrestlers on its active roster, it can be a little bit difficult to keep track of everyone WWE has around. This can be a bigger problem when a more prominent star is gone as it leads to questions about what is going on. One such WWE star was gone recently, and now we know a little bit more about why he has been missing.
Randy Orton reportedly missed a recent live event and was not on this week’s Monday Night Raw either. According to PWInsider.com, the word backstage at Monday Night Raw is that Orton was not “cleared to perform”, though there is no word on what is specifically wrong with him. Orton last appeared on the September 20 Monday Night Raw and it is not clear when he will be back.
Orton has had some returns before. Check out some of his best returns:

KB’s Review: The Gangrel Solution

There are all kinds of problems in WWE today and one of the biggest is that the company does not seem to keep things interesting. This is the case for more than one reason, ranging from stories taking too long to move forward as well as wrestlers losing so often that it is hard to make them feel like stars. These are problems that can be solved, and there is one match that gives you a brief blueprint to solve more than one of them at the same time.
Flash back with me to the Attitude Era, which may or may not be everyone’s cup of tea. There are parts of it that are remembered very badly while other elements were quite good in a lot of ways. One of the best things was the wide variety of memorable characters, as almost everyone had at least a little something going on. You can debate the merits of that, but this week we are looking at one match in particular on a pretty important episode of Monday Night Raw.

VIDEO: Another Former NXT Champion Coming To AEW

Make sure you grab a name tag. AEW has a rather talented roster with a great mixture of wrestlers. There are veterans and legends, newcomers and rookies and some established names who are still on their way to the top of the industry. That makes for some great matchups and now AEW has brought in another name that you might be familiar with from what he has done before.
During this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite, a vignette aired announcing that Lio Rush has signed a deal with the company. Rush has wrestled in AEW before, appearing at Double Or Nothing 2021, as well as in WWE, where he was the NXT Cruiserweight Champion. Earlier this year, Rush announced his retirement from wrestling, but said that he would be fulfilling his remaining New Japan dates. There is no word on when he will be making his return to AEW.
This was a surprise. Check out Rush’s announcement, plus what he can do in the ring:

VIDEO: Title Change Takes Place On AEW Dynamite

History has been made! AEW has not been around very long, as next week’s edition of AEW Dynamite will mark the show’s second anniversary special. That is not a long time to establish a history but AEW has done a good job with it so far. A lot of that is due to the way they have treated their championships, as title changes have been treated as something special. That was the case again this week.
The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw Sammy Guevara defeat Miro to become the new TNT Champion. The win makes Guevara fifth man to hold the title and ended Miro’s reign at 140 days. Guevara was challenging Miro for the title after Miro attacked Guevara’s friend Fuevo del Sol, and also took del Sol’s car in a wager. This is Guevara’s first title in AEW.
It was a big moment. Check out the title change, plus some of both of them in the ring in AEW:

AEW Dynamite Results – September 29, 2021

Dynamite
Date: September 29, 2021
Location: Blue Cross Arena, Rochester, New York
Commentators: Jim Ross, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, CM Punk
AEW has been on a roll as of late and that means we could be in for something special tonight. I’m not sure what we are going to be seeing here, but it certainly could be a fun night. If nothing else, we’re in Brodie Lee’s hometown and that means we are probably going to be in for some tributes. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
We open with some BRODIE chants.
Here’s CM Punk, who will be on commentary tonight but can’t dive into the crowd because of the athletic commission.
Adam Cole vs. Jungle Boy Feeling out process to start until Boy hits a heck of a chop into a springboard armdrag. A dropkick puts Cole on the floor and let’s take a breather for a bit. Jungle follows him out and Cole kicks him down, setting up a neckbreaker back inside. The chinlock holds Boy in place for a bit but he is right back up with a shot to the face. Jungle hits..

Backstage News On Why Alexa Bliss Is Off WWE TV

That would be an explanation. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it can be notable when one of them goes away for a bit. It can be an even bigger deal when one of them goes away while they are in the middle of a big story. You can often tell when someone is moving away for a bit, and that seems to be the case with a current big Monday Night Raw star.
Earlier this week, news emerged that Monday Night Raw’s Alexa Bliss would be taken off of television for a few months, though it was not clear why she would be going away. According to PWInsider.com, Bliss has been taken off of television as she will be undergoing sinus surgery. There is no word on how long she will be out of action. Bliss lost to Charlotte at Extreme Rules, after which Charlotte destroyed Bliss’ doll Lillie, sending Bliss into an emotional breakdown.
Bliss has been busy as of late. Check out what she has been doing:

Monday Night Raw Star Undergoes Surgery

Get well soon. Wrestling is ultimately a physical sport that can include all kinds of injuries. Some of these are more serious than others, but there are some which can come back after being fixed up in the first place. Sometimes an injury might be fixed up but then something happens to start the problem all over again. That seems to be the case at the moment with a Monday Night Raw star.
Monday Night Raw’s Sheamus has announced that he is undergoing another surgery to repair his broken nose. Sheamus previously underwent surgery to fix the problem but then had his nose broken again during a match with Jeff Hardy last week on Monday Night Raw. He then found Hardy and Damian Priest at Extreme Rules, plus Priest alone this week on Monday Night Raw. It is not clear if Sheamus will miss any ring time.

RUMOR: Several NXT Names Who Make Be Drafted To WWE Main Roster

Change of address? The WWE Draft is coming up later this week and that is the kind of thing that could change the way WWE works for the next several months to come. You see new wrestlers showing up in different place and in some cases, it is their first time ever in those places. We might be seeing that again with a group of wrestlers making their main roster debuts.
According to Jon Alba of the Living The Gimmick podcast, Hit Row is being discussed for a main roster call up during next month’s WWE Draft. The team has been together in NXT for the last several months, with Isaiah Swerve Scott being the current North American Champion. There is no word on what would happen to the title should the team be called up. The rest of the team includes B Fab, Top Dolla and Ashante Thee Adonis.
Hit Row is one of the names being discussed for a main roster call-up from #WWENXT for the #WWE Draft, I'm told. Whether it ultimately gets the call will remain to be seen, obviously, but @AndrewZar..

RUMOR: WWE Taking Summerslam International

Air trip? WWE is the world’s biggest wrestling company and that is a spot they have had for a very long time now. They go around the world on a regular basis and have shows in various countries. Some of these are bigger than others, but you do not see the most important shows of the year take place overseas. That might no longer be the case next year.
According to Whatculture.com, WWE is looking to run a major event in the United Kingdom in September 2022, with hopes of a stadium that holds over 90,000 people. There is a chance that this could be Summerslam, which would be celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of Summerslam 1992, which was held in Wembley Stadium in London, England. According to talkSport, WWE is in discussions to hold Summerslam in the United Kingdom, with Wales’ Principality Stadium being WWE’s preferred destination. WWE has yet to announce any plans for the show.
WWE has gone international before. Check out some of their bigger shows outside of the United States:
