WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Changing Monday Night Raw Star’s Character (Again)

It’s in the presentation. There are so many wrestlers in the world today that it can be hard to find a way to make them stand out. Thankfully there are ways around those issues in the form of gimmicks, as a wrestler can play a character of some kind in a way to get some extra attention. That is certainly the case in WWE and now one of its stars may be in for some gimmick adjustments.
According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, WWE is adjusting Karrion Kross’ character. The new idea will be to present Kross as a “psycho” who is still “cool and calm”. This will include changing his theme song, but he will continue to wear his helmet and will continue to be without Scarlett. Kross was called up to the main roster earlier this year while still NXT Champion.
Source states WWE is shifting Karrion Kross’ character once again. Plan is for him to be more of a “psycho” yet still “calm & cool.” As of now the helmet stays, but for whatever reason, still no Scarlett. Presentation of entrance i..

WWE Ranks Higher Than NFL, MLB And Many More In Important Survey

They’re valuable. Despite some recent problems, WWE is still the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world and it really isn’t that much of a competition. The company has been on top of the wrestling world for such a long time now and that has allowed them to build up quite the reputation. Now we know a bit more about how strong that reputation has become.
SportsPro, a sports marketing firm, has released a list of the fifty most marketable sports properties in the world, with WWE coming in at #20. This puts them ahead of the UFC (#27) and the NFL (#37) and ahead of all American entries, save for the NBA and the Los Angeles Lakers. WWE has sent out a tweet celebrating the accomplishment, which was determined by a survey of over 360,000 people between the ages of 13 and 64 worldwide. There were over 500 teams, organizations and events in the survey.

REVIEW: WWF WrestleFest 1990: The Time Capsule

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
WrestleFest 1990
Host: Sean Mooney
Commentators: Sean Mooney, Lord Alfred Hayes, Gorilla Monsoon, Hillbilly Jim, Tony Schiavone
This is the kind of thing that I love to watch: a compilation video featuring a bunch of stuff from television tapings which is cobbled together with almost nothing in the way of a theme. There might be a wrestler getting a few matches in a row, but this is kind of a sampler platter of the company at this point in time. Let’s get to it.
Sean Mooney welcomes us to the show and runs down t..

He’s On The Loose: Former World Champion Becoming A Free Agent

He’s on the market. Wrestling is changing faster than it ever has before and that is a great thing to see in a lot of ways. One of the most important aspects of modern wrestling is how easy it is to see wrestlers from around the world. This allows promotions to see who else they might want to sign when they get the chance, and another person has been added to the free agent list.
According to Fightful Select, Tom Lawlor’s contract with Major League Wrestling is expiring, with his recent loss in a casket match being used as a way to write him off of television. Lawlor is a former Major League Wrestling World Champion, as well as the winner of the Battle Riot and the Opera Cup. There is no word on where Lawlor will be signing next, though he is the current New Japan Pro Wrestling Strong Openweight Champion.
You might need to get used to him. Check out what Lawlor can do in the ring:

WATCH: Very Special Guest Announced For Halloween Havoc

It’s been done. Wrestling is a unique form of entertainment, as it exists in its own bubble, with a unique presentation that makes it feel different than anything else. It is rare to see wrestling cross over with over forms of entertainment, but it certainly can make for some unique situations. That is what we are going to be seeing again next week in a bit of corporate synergy.
The USA Network has announced that Chucky, the doll from the Child’s Play franchise, will be guest starring on the October 26 Halloween Havoc special edition of NXT. There is no word on what Chucky will be doing on the show. This will be the second time that Chucky has appeared on a wrestling show, as he appeared on WCW Monday Nitro on October 12, 1999.
This is something different. Check out the announcement, Chucky’s time on Monday Nitro and what to expect from Halloween Havoc:

Two New Matches Set For WWE Crown Jewel

And then there were two. We are less than four days away from WWE’s Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia and that means the show is going to be one of the biggest of the year. The shows airing from the country are often stacked with one big match after another and that will be the case again this time. Now we know two more of the matches and both have something on the line.
The finals of the King of the Ring and Queen’s Crown tournaments were officially set during this week’s Monday Night Raw. Xavier Woods defeated Jinder Mahal to earn the right to face Finn Balor for the King of the Ring. Later, Doudrop defeated Shayna Baszler, meaning she will face Zelina Vega. This year marks the first time that WWE has ever presented the Queen’s Crown tournament.
This should work well. Check out how this week’s matches were set and what is on the line for the new King:

Ring Of Honor TV Results – October 13, 2021

Ring of Honor
Date: October 13, 2021
Location: 2300 Arena, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Jay Briscoe, Mark Briscoe
It’s time to start the build towards Final Battle and I’m not sure what that is going to mean. Ring of Honor has a weird fascination with waiting as long as they can to announce a card and I’m not sure how much we’re going to be getting before this show. That being said, this show has been pretty great lately so let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Here’s what’s coming tonight.
Soldiers of Savagery vs. Dalton Castle/Dak Draper The Soldiers are ready to hurt people while Castle and Draper, with the Baby Chickens, promise to show how good they are. Castle wrestles Khan down to start and we actually get a clean break. The technical stuff doesn’t work for Khan so he shoulders Castle down with straight power. That works for Castle, who suplexes him down and hands it off to Draper, who gets caught by the arm. Moses comes in and knees Draper in the rib..

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – October 18, 2021

Monday Night Raw
Date: October 18, 2021
Location: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, California
Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton
It’s the go home show for Crown Jewel, though the audience is going to be decimated by a mixture of the MLB Playoffs and Monday Night Football. The card does include Charlotte defending the Raw Women’s Title against Bianca Belair, along with a rematch between Drew McIntyre/Big E. vs. Robert Roode/Dolph Ziggler. Let’s get to it.
Here is Charlotte to get things going but she isn’t sure why there are no champagne and balloons for her final night on Raw. There is a conspiracy against her because Bianca Belair isn’t even on the roster yet but has two title shots this week! Charlotte: “AND YOU PEOPLE THINK I’M ENTITLED???” After dealing with the crown and various chants, Charlotte says Belair needs to get over it already because Charlotte is the mountain that she can’t climb. Belair can deal with Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks…or she can interrupt rig..

WATCH: WWE Teases Two Heel Turns At Live Event

Call it a tryout. There is more wrestling content available today than there ever has been before and that can create some problems for the wrestlers. There comes a point where the fans have seen almost everything a wrestler is going to do and that means it is time to shake things up a bit. That seems to be the case for a pair of WWE wrestlers, who tried something new over the weekend.
Sunday night, WWE presented a live event in El Paso, Texas which included a tag team match between Shotzi/Nox vs. Natalya/Tamina, with Shotzi and Nox wrestling as heels. The team, which had been split up in the WWE Draft, wrestled together as babyfaces during their time on SmackDown. There is no word on if either of the two will be teaming together going forward or if either of them will be turning heel.
This could be an interesting way to go. Check out the experiment, plus what the two of them can do together and on their own:

WATCH: Controversial Wrestling Star Returns After Hiatus

Welcome back. Wrestlers are a unique form of athletes as you can see them stepping in and then back out of the ring almost out of nowhere. While mainstream athletes tend to stick around straight through their careers, some wrestlers start and stop at various points. It can make for some surprising returns, and that was the case again this weekend when a star came back.
Former WWE and Ring of Honor star ACH returned to wrestling over the weekend at an Atlanta Wrestling Entertainment event. ACH returned with his GWC Championship and confronted Buddy Matthews. This comes after ACH stepped away from wrestling in June, with his most recent match taking place on May 7. There is no word on where ACH will be working next.
That’s a cool return. Check out the full show (with audio not working until around 16:00) plus what ACH can do in the ring:

WRESTLING RUMORS: Special WWE Concept Returning Soon

Welcome home. Monday Night Raw has been around for a very long time now, with its first episode taking place on January 11, 1993. That is the kind of run that you never see in wrestling and it shows just how big a deal Monday Night Raw really is. WWE knows how to highlight its own history very well and they will have the chance to do that again in just a few months.
According to Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Wrestling podcast, WWE will be presenting Retro Raw in January, with the exact date to be announced. The concept of the show is to bring back legends and past wrestlers for special appearances, often with the current roster. WWE has presented the concept or something similar several times over the years, including this year on January 4.

WWE May Be Going Head To Head With AEW Again

They’re at it again. AEW has come a long way in a fairly short amount of time and has shaken up the wrestling world as a result. That is the kind of thing that we have not seen in a very long time and it is hard to know what to think of it most of the time. WWE certainly does not seem to know what to do about them most of the time but they might be trying something new.
According to PWInsider.com, some cable systems are listing WWE Talking Smack airing at 10pm EST on Friday October 29 on Fox Sports 1, putting the show on at the same time as AEW Rampage. SmackDown is already scheduled to air on Fox Sports 1 the same night due to FOX’s coverage of the World Series. This comes after last week’s SmackDown was extended by half an hour to go against Rampage, which aired a special Buy-In show to oppose the second half of SmackDown. There is no word on if this would be a permanent move, as Talking Smack normally airs on Saturday mornings.
Talking Smack has had its moments. Check out some of ..
