WWE Bringing Back Saturday Night’s Main Event (In A Different Way)

From back in the day. There is so much WWE programming in a given week that it can be pretty difficult to keep track of everything. That is the case at the moment, as WWE has four shows on television alone and ignoring all of their streaming shows. Some of them are a lot more important than others, but now WWE might be bringing back one of the most important shows of all time, but not as it seems.
WWE is bringing back Saturday Night’s Main Event as a pair of live event specials. The shows will take place on April 23 in Montgomery, Alabama and on April 30 in Lakeland, Florida. There is no word on if WWE will be filming these shows for future release or if these are merely special live events. Saturday Night’s Main Event ran for thirty eight episodes from 1985-2008.
Opinion: This sounds like something that is just happening as a special live event and that is perfectly fine. WWE did the same thing with Starrcade a few years ago and it was a cool thing to see. I’m not sure if this is go..

AEW Might Be Bringing In Three More Former WWE Stars

Welcome to the fold? There are certain things in wrestling that get your attention in a hurry and one of the best things is seeing someone come over from another promotion. This can make for some great moments as someone can make an impact straight out of the box after not being given such a chance elsewhere. That has been the case with several former WWE stars coming to WWE, and now we might be seeing it in three more cases.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, three former WWE stars are likely to come to AEW soon, while a third is a possibility. The two who are expected to be debuting soon are Jeff hardy and Shane Strickland (formerly known as Isaiah Swerve Scott in WWE). Buddy Matthews, formerly known as Buddy Murphy in WWE, maybe brought in as well, as previously reported. There is no word on when any of the three might debut.
Opinion: Hardy is no surprise whatsoever and has been expected for a long time now. Matthews is a name that has been rumored as well in recent w..

Another WWE Tag Team May Have Already Split Up

They’re already done? WWE has a weird history with tag teams, as they have presented several different teams over the years but a good many of them have split up. The company has a fascination with putting two people together for the sake of splitting them up again for a feud of some kind. That might be the case again, even though the team was not together that long in the first place.
This week on SmackDown, Ricochet beat Sheamus in the show’s opening match. Sheamus lost the match after a failed distraction from his protege and tag partner, Ridge Holland. Following the match, Sheamus shoved Holland down before leaving on his own. While not confirmed, this could suggest that the two are on their way to splitting up. Holland has been Sheamus’ protege since he debuted on SmackDown in the fall of last year.
Opinion: I hope WWE doesn’t go with this so soon as it isn’t like Sheamus and Holland have some kind of a long history together. Maybe WWE just wants Holland on his own sooner rather..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE May Be Running Another Big Show On WrestleMania Saturday

They have a spot available. We are about six weeks away from WrestleMania 38 and the show is already starting to come together. Once Elimination Chamber is out of the way, we should be good to go for the final stretch of the Road To WrestleMania. These are some of the most important shows of the year for WWE, but another branch of the company has something to look forward to as well.
According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, WWE is planning to run NXT Stand & Deliver from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on Saturday April 2. The show would be held at 11AM local time (12PM EST), or six hours before the start of WrestleMania 38. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the show’s main event would see NXT Champion Bron Breakker defending against Dolph Ziggler. WWE has yet to announce the show.
NXT TakeOver Stand & Deliver is scheduled for Saturday morning April 2nd from the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Local start time of 11am. Long day for fans who will attend Ma..

SmackDown Results – February 18, 2022

Smackdown
Date: February 18, 2022
Location: Smoothie King Center, New Orleans, Louisiana
Commentators: Corey Graves, Michael Cole
We’re taped this week as the roster is in Saudi Arabia for this weekend’s Elimination Chamber. That can make for some interesting shows as the crowd might have to be brought into things a bit more. It’s also the go home show for Elimination Chamber, meaning we are probably in for a lot of hype. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Adam Pearce is in the ring for a contract signing for Charlotte/Sonya Deville vs. Ronda Rousey/Naomi. Everyone comes to the ring and Sonya says she knows how to do this. They immediately start arguing and yelling over each other, because that’s how women interact in WWE. Sonya and Charlotte both sign but Naomi threatens to turn the table over if they don’t stop stalling.
Hold on though because Sonya has a stipulation. A few days ago, Rousey said that she could beat Sonya with one arm tied behind her back, so that’s what she is go..

There Goes The Gold: Title Change Takes Place On WWE SmackDown

History has been made! Titles are one of the easiest concepts to understand in all of wrestling. You have one wrestler holding a championship and someone else wants it. That sets up a title match where one person emerges with the championship and you go in whatever direction you want to head. It is something that has worked for the better part of ever and that was the case again this week.
Sami Zayn defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to win the Intercontinental Title this week on SmackDown. The win makes Zayn a three time Intercontinental Champion and gives him his first reign since December 2020. The title change comes after Zayn has claimed a conspiracy against him, which included him being stripped of the title in 2022. Nakamura’s had held the title for over 180 days, winning it on August 13, 2021.
Opinion: They had to change the title here as Nakamura had held the thing for six months without doing much of anything with it. Zayn has his conspiracy theory deal and this is as good of a pay..

Catch You Down The Road: Former Champion Finished With Impact Wrestling

The market grows. The wrestling world has changed a lot in recent years and the biggest change has been the amount of wrestlers moving from one company to another. This is not something you normally see happen this often and it has made for some exciting changes. That seems to be the case again, as another former champion has departed her company to see what else is out there.
According to Fightful Select, Rachael Ellering has left Impact Wrestling, effective as of last month. Ellering did not compete in the Knockouts Ultimate X match at Hard To Kill and was replaced with no explanation given. She has also not appeared at any television tapings since the pay per view. There is no word on why Ellering has left Impact Wrestling, where she is a former Knockouts Tag Team Champion with Jordynne Grace.
Opinion: I’m not sure what happened here but Ellering and Grace were working well together as a team over the last few months. Ellering is a talented star who could do well in just about any..

Two Huge Title Matches Set For AEW Revolution

The show continues to build. We are just over two weeks away from AEW Revolution and that means things are starting to pick up. If there is one thing that AEW does better than perhaps anything else, it is make the big shows work well. That is usually the case due to the amount of high quality matches that they put on and now we know two more of the bigger matches on the card.
Two more matches were announced for Revolution during this week’s Rampage broadcast. First, Thunder Rosa will challenge Britt Baker for the Women’s Title. Rosa defeated Baker in a lights out anything goes match last year before Baker became champion. In addition, Hangman Page will defend the World Title against Adam Cole. This comes after the two have been arguing in recent weeks, with Cole attacking Page this week on Dynamite. Revolution takes place Sunday March 6.
Opinion: Neither of these matches are exactly a major surprise but they are matches that needed to be added to the card. AEW will still have a few w..

AEW Rampage Results – February 18, 2022

Rampage
Date: February 18, 2022
Location: Municipal Auditorium, Nashville, Tennessee
Commentators: Excalibur, Taz, Chris Jericho, Ricky Starks
We’re a few hours earlier this week due to the NBA All Star Weekend. This week’s show doesn’t have quite the same level of star power that most weeks have, but Revolution is in about two weeks and it’s time to set up some more things. You can probably guess most of the matches from here though and that’s a good thing. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Adam Cole vs. 10 10 shoves him around to start before snapping off a German suplex. The right hands start up in the corner but Cole slips out and kicks 10’s braced knee. The knee is wrapped around the post but 10 is fine enough to hit a delayed vertical suplex. Cole knocks him outside though and it’s right back to the leg as we take a break.
Back with 10 not being able to get the full nelson, meaning Cole can enziguri him into a Backstabber for two. A discus lariat gives 10 his own two but Col..

NXT UK Results – February 17, 2022

NXT UK
Date: February 17, 2022
Location: BT Sports Studios, London, England
Commentators: Andy Shepherd, Nigel McGuinness
Things toned down a bit last week after back to back title match weeks. This time around seems to be more of the former as well, with the main event being a grudge match between Wolfgang and Jordan Devlin. Other than that, it’s hard to say what we might be getting around here week to week. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Sam Gradwell vs. Kenny Williams Hold on though as Williams, in street clothes, is out on crutches. There was a terrible accident so the match cannot happen. Hold on to that holding on though as Sid Scala pops up on screen to say there is no evidence of Williams being injured, so start the match. Gradwell pulls him in and hammers away to start as Williams is rocked early.
A forearm out of the corner staggers Gradwell and a rake to the eyes lets Williams hit a rebound lariat. The cravate goes on for a bit before Williams rakes at the back. Grad..

The Undertaker Will Officially Enter The WWE Hall of Fame

His legacy will never rest in peace. WWE has announced that The Undertaker will officially be inducted into the Hall of Fame as the inaugural member of the class of 2022.
From WWE.com:
First introduced at 1990’s Survivor Series, The Demon of Death Valley was soon battling with Hulk Hogan, then at the top of the food chain in WWE. This clash set the tone for Undertaker’s dominant career. No one was too big, and no one was safe from his gloved grip.
A multi-time WWE and World Heavyweight Champion, a seven-time tag team titleholder, and a Royal Rumble Match winner in 2007, Undertaker has cemented his place among the greatest in the game. A true in-ring pioneer, he was part of many WWE firsts, including the first-ever Casket Match at Survivor Series 1992, the first-ever Buried Alive Match in 1996, and the inaugural Hell in a Cell Match in 1997.
But there was one achievement that stood out above all others that is unlikely to ever be topped. Since WrestleMania VII in 1991, The Undertake..

Former WWE Referee Mickie Jay Passes Away At Age 58

We have some sad news to report today as former WWE referee Mickie Jay Henson has passed away at the age of 59 due to complications from pneumonia, related to COVID-19.
From WWE.com:
Henson officiated his first match in 1987 at the Eddie Graham Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. He then joined WCW in 1992 and went on to referee in some of the promotion’s most memorable matches, including the ending of Goldberg’s historic undefeated streak at the hands of Kevin Nash at Starrcade 1998. Signing with WWE in 2005, Henson then brought his officiating expertise to more incredible bouts for years to come featuring the likes of John Cena, Kurt Angle, The Undertaker, Edge, and many more.
We at Wrestling Rumors extended our deepest condolences to the Henson family during this difficult time.
