It’s a rare live edition this week as it is also the go home show for this weekend’s Revolution pay per view. That could make things a bit more interesting, as we also have a title match. Sammy Guevara will be defending the TNT Title against Darby Allin and Andrade El Idolo, which should be a good one. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
TNT Title: Andrade El Idolo vs. Darby Allin vs. Sammy Guevara Guevara is defending. Andrade bails out to the floor to start before being chased back inside. Allin hits a high angle springboard armdrag to take Andrade down but Sammy takes Allin down as well. Sammy loads up a superplex but Andrade turns it into a Tower of Doom, albeit after walking forward while holding both of them up at once.
We take a break and come back with Andrade suplexing Sammy into the corner and a moonsault press connects to give Andrade ..

Mark your calendars. WWE runs several may per view events a year and some of them are among the most well known shows on the wrestling schedule. The company has several shows that are longstanding traditions, though sometimes they will move one of them around the schedule a bit in one direction or another. WWE did that last year and now they seem to have made the move permanent.
WWE has announced that Hell In A Cell will be taking place on Sunday June 5 at the Allstate Arena near Chicago, Illinois, marking the show’s first time taking place at the venue. This will be the second year in a row that Hell In A Cell has taken place in June after being held in October for all but one of its previous editions. There are no matches announced for the show.
Opinion: There is something fun about seeing the pay per view calendar being announced as you might get to take in a show that you weren’t expecting. I still don’t care for the idea of having a show like Hell In A Cell taking place at the s..

There’s your next one. With WrestleMania 38 less than a month away, it is time to start getting ready for the biggest show of the year. That means WWE needs to set up the card in the way that draws in the most eyes, which includes coming up with some matches that might draw in a crowd that might not usually watch. WWE is trying just that with a special celebrity match.
This week on SmackDown, actor Johnny Knoxville interrupted Sami Zayn’s Intercontinental Title match against Ricochet, costing Zayn the title. As a result, Zayn challenged Knoxville to a match at WrestleMania 38, which Knoxville accepted later in the night. Knoxville has been tormenting Zayn for most of the year, including appearing in the Royal Rumble, where Zayn eliminated him. Zayn also crashed the premiere of Knoxville’s film Jackass Forever, with Knoxville coming back to SmackDown to retaliate.
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes sense, but I’m rather happy that it is not going to be a title match. Celebr..

There’s the next one. We are less than a month away from WrestleMania 38 and that means the show is starting to come into focus. With so many matches that need to be set up, WWE has a lot of work to do before we get to the event. They have covered the major title matches but some of the grudge matches still need to be set up. WWE covered one of them this week.
Earlier this week, Vince McMahon appeared on the Pat McAfee Show and announced that McAfee, a WWE SmackDown broadcaster, will be wrestling at WrestleMania but no opponent was announced. This week on SmackDown, Austin Theory came to ringside and slapped McAfee in the face, saying that he is McAfee’s opponent for WrestleMania. McAfee and McMahon had been rumored for a WrestleMania match and it is not clear if McMahon will still be involved.
Opinion: I’m curious to see how this is going to go because McAfee vs. Theory isn’t exactly a red hot match. McMahon is going to have to be added to it in some capacity, even if it is being in..

History has been made! There are a lot of titles in the wrestling world and many of the most famous and well known are under the WWE banner. The company has been around for so many years that it has had a chance to build up some lineages. One of those titles changing hands can mean a great deal for someone and that was the case again late this week.
This week on SmackDown, Ricochet defeated Sami Zayn to win the Intercontinental Title for the first time in his career. Ricochet won the title when Zayn was distracted by Johnny Knoxville, who came to the ring, allowing Ricochet to hurricanrana him for the pin. This is Ricochet’s second singles title in WWE, along with the United States Title, plus one reign as NXT North American Champion.
Opinion: This was quite the surprise and that is a nice thing to see. Ricochet is someone who has seemed ready to take a big step forward for a long time now but has not really been given a chance. I don’t know how the title reign is going to go, but wh..

The course of history was shifted forever. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full segment from the April 4, 2011 episode of RAW when John Cena and The Rock make their WrestleMania XXVIII (28) match official.

Shortly after the bell rang, Cena sent The Rock tumbling with a show of power to send an early message to start the contest. The Rock didn’t flinch and promptly returned the favor with a shove of his own that tossed Cena down to the canvas. The Great One proved that he didn’t miss a beat despite the ring rust, as he executed a couple of hip tosses and a very crafty la magistral rollup for a near-pinfall. Cena looked shocked as he took a breather in the corner of the ring.

It’s time for another title week here as Ilja Dragunov is defending the United Kingdom Title against Nathan Frazer. That should make for a great one, as the two of them have a nice record of rising to the occasion in the big matches. Other than that, Gallus gets Sha Samuels in a preview of Joe Coffey vs. Noam Dar for the Heritage Cup later this month. Let’s get to it.

Sha Samuels vs. Mark Coffey There are no seconds here for a change. They slug it out to start with Samuels headlocking him over. With that not working, Coffey is back up and starts working on the arm, setting up a Russian legsweep. A backdrop sends Samuels rolling to the floor but he’s right back in to kick away. Samuels drops him with a running clothesline before pulling up the suspenders for some reason.

That’s a bad way to go. There are a lot of wrestlers in the industry and the majority of them come and go without doing much of note. When you think about it, only a small handful make it to the big leaves and even a smaller handful of them are successes on that level. Sometimes wrestlers do things that are noteworthy for reasons that are more infamous than anything else, which might be the case again.
According to PWInsider.com, former Impact Wrestling star Michael Elgin is suing the company for breach of contract. Impact Wrestling removed Elgin from television following sexual misconduct allegations against him. Elgin was removed from Impact Wrestling television on June 26, 2022 over allegations in the SpeakingOut Movement and is claiming that his career was damaged as a result. He is also claiming that he was told he was being removed based on statements against him with Impact never conducting an investigation.

Maybe not? There have been a lot of wrestlers moving from one company to another in recent months, many of which are the result of WWE letting them go. Most wrestlers have been leaving WWE, but there are a few who have been heading there. That can make for a big moment, but this time it seems like someone will not be going there, at least for the time being.
Last month, Cody Rhodes left AEW when the two sides could not come to terms on a new deal. This led to speculation that Rhodes would be on his way to WWE, but according to Cassidy Hayes of Bodyslam.net, talks between Rhodes and WWE have “fizzled out”. It is not clear why talks between the two sides stalled. There is a chance that Rhodes could return to AEW as part of the newly acquired Ring of Honor, though there is no guarantee that it will happen.

He’s a big one to have back. WWE has a long history of bringing in celebrities to take part in major wrestling events. The idea makes a lot of sense as fans can be interested in seeing what happens when someone famous steps into their world. It can make for some fascinating moments, especially if the celebrity has some kind of an athletic background. That might be the case again soon.
During an interview with Give Me Sport, heavyweight champion boxer Tyson Fury said that he would be back in WWE, saying “one million percent, you will see me in the WWE again.” Fury has made multiple appearances with WWE, including defeating Braun Strowman in a match at Crown Jewel 2019 via countout. There is no word on when Fury will return to WWE, though he has a title defense scheduled for April 23. Fury has said that the fight will be the final one of his career.

There are a lot of reactions. The wrestling world was changed in a pretty big way this week as AEW President Tony Khan announced that he has purchased Ring of Honor Wrestling. This means that the promotion will continue, though it is not entirely clear where everything is heading. It does mean that people are excited though, and now the wrestling world is reacting to the news.
Following Khan’s announcement this week on AEW Dynamite, the wrestling world has reacted to the news, including several legends, AEW wrestlers and former Ring of Honor stars. Now that’s a SHAHT AHT! During his first live interview in 15 years on today’s episode of “The Pat McAfee Show,” Vince McMahon invited the host to compete at WrestleMania 38. The invitation was extended due to the former NFL player and Smackdown commentator’s tremendous connection to the WWE Universe.

McAfee last competed in a WWE ring at NXT Takeover: WarGames 2020. McAfee, along with Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan, and Danny Burch defeated The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, and Bobby Fish).
