What could have been. Wrestling is often built on nostalgia as it can be rather enticing to see a former star make a return for one reason or another. Sometimes these appearances will involve having another match, but often it works out rather well to just have someone show up and make an appearance. That was going to be the case soon, but plans had to be changed for an awful reason.
According to Fightful Select, WWE had begun making plans to bring in the original members of the New World Order for appearances over WrestleMania weekend but the plans were changed due to Scott Hall’s passing earlier this month. The group would have been brought in to help promote the WWE2K22 video game, which features an NWO 4 Life Edition, as well as Hall, both as himself and under his Razor Ramon persona. There is no word on whether WWE is considering bringing in the rest of the group for such appearances.

It’s a different motivation. Wrestlers are in a unique situation as they are definitely athletes who are trying to do the best that they can, but a good number of them are doing what they do for the financial impact wrestling can offer. While not everyone is going to reach that high paying level, it is a goal for many and now there is a special way to accomplish just that in a fairly uncommon way.
On March 31, WrestleCon will present the Mark Hitchcock Memorial WrestleCon Supershow. WrestleCon has tweeted out an announcement, saying that there will be a fan vote after the show to determine the best match on the show. The wrestlers involved in that match will then split $5,000. Five matches have been set for the card, with three more to take place on the show. Here is what is currently announced:

Die Familie vs. Saxon Huxley/A-Kid Teoman is here with Familie. A-Kid and Dempsey start things off with Dempsey working on an early armbar. Huxley comes in and slams his way out of another armbar before slamming Raja too. An elbow gets a rather delayed two and it’s back to A-Kid, who is quickly pulled into a Fujiwara armbar.
A-Kid breaks that up so Dempsey takes him down by the leg instead as this isn’t A-Kid’s night so far. Dempsey grabs a fisherman’s suplex for two and it’s off to a standing armbar. A jump over Raja finally..

It isn’t how he drew it up. Stables have been a constant factor in wrestling for a very long time, with some of the most famous names in wrestling history having been a part of one at some point. They are an easy to understand concept and allow multiple wrestlers to get television time at once. There have been some rather memorable ones over the years, but one of them was envisioned very different.
Heath Slater appeared on Stories With Brisco And Bradshaw and discussed the origins of 3MB. Slater came up with the idea of putting a stable together with him, originally wanting Johnny Curtis (better known as Fandango), Dean Ambrose and EC3 on the team. After pitching the three names, he was told that WWE already had plans for Ambrose and Curtis and that EC3 wasn’t happening. Three weeks later, Slater was told that Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal would be his band instead, as that is what Vince McMahon wanted. That’s a different take. Most of the last twenty years of professional wrestling have been dominated by WWE. The company has been so far and away ahead of any other promotion that it has lapped the field. Then in 2019, AEW made its debut and instantly became one of the biggest promotions in the world. The two companies have competed since then and taken some shots at each other, but now one prominent AEW wrestler has some nice things to say about WWE.
During an interview with Ariel Helwani, AEW’s Maxwell Jacob Friedman praised WWE programming and its wrestlers, talking about how he much he enjoyed seeing WWE’s stars develop. He praised Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman, Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard for the work they have been doing, while saying that the only think the company was missing was himself.

He has their attention. There is a lot of wrestling talent in the world today and it has spread to a variety of promotions. Rather than having one promotion dominate everything these days, both WWE and AEW continue to battle for talent, as wrestlers will occasionally move from one company to another. It turns out that an AEW wrestler has caught WWE’s eye through his work in the ring.
According to the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast, WWE is very high on AEW’s Ethan Page. The company likes Page’s wrestling and microphone skills and are very impressed with him. However, Page signed a new multi-year deal with AEW last year, meaning that he will be unavailable for WWE for years to come. Page is one of several AEW names that have gotten WWE’s attention, including Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Wardlow and Jade Cargill, though all of them are signed to AEW long term.

He’ll be sticking around. There are all kinds of wrestlers on the WWE roster and some of them have some rather distinct purposes. While most people signed are active wrestlers, there are others who are there more as a way to help promote the company. These are names you might remember from years past, and now you might be hearing from another one more often.
Hurricane Helms, also known as the Hurricane, has announced that he has signed a Legends Deal with WWE, tweeting that it officially makes him old. Helms has worked for WWE on and off over the years, both as a wrestler and as an agent. He last wrestled for WWE in the 2021 Royal Rumble and has otherwise retired from in-ring competition. Helms does still make occasional cameo appearances on WWE television.

For the purposes for scheduling. We are just over a week away from WrestleMania 38 and the show is all but set. On April 2 and 3, WWE will hope their biggest event of the year, with a pair of shows comprising WrestleMania. The last few years have seen WrestleMania grow to even bigger levels, and now we know something important about this year’s version.
According to PWInsider.com, Peacock has both nights of WrestleMania 38 blocked off for five hours. Counting the likely two hour Kickoff Shows, this would mean that the main WrestleMania cards will last three hours. The main cards of WrestleMania are expected to begin at 8PM EST with six matches currently announced for the first night and five for the second.
Opinion: This is about what was expected, but my goodness the idea of ten hours of WrestleMania, even over two days, is a bit hard to fathom. It doesn’t feel like the roster has the kind of depth to make this work, which almost has me worried about how the show is going to go. I c..

I think he’ll be ok. AEW has quite the collection of talent throughout its roster, with several different kinds of wrestlers included. This allows them to have a variety of matches, some of which can be different than their norm. However, that might not be the case for the time being, as one wrestler’s roster status has been changed thanks to a certain less than happy boss.
Last week on AEW Dynamite, Wardlow requested that Maxwell Jacob Friedman release him from his contract, freeing him to do whatever he wanted. This week, Friedman turned down the request and promised to make Wardlow life a nightmare. As a result, Wardlow’s profile has been removed from AEW’s website as part of the storyline. Friedman commented on the change on Twitter, asking “where’s Wardlow?” and laughing.

We continue the road to the relaunch and this time around we are looking at one of the most important people in the company’s recent history. The next two weeks will look at Jonathan Gresham, the reigning World Champion, including his rise through the company. Gresham has been one of the best things about Ring Of Honor for a long time now so let’s get to it.

Ring of Honor World Title: Jonathan Gresham vs. Jay Lethal For the vacant title, as Bandido is out with Coronavirus. The fans are rather happy with this one as they trade wristlocks to start with no one getting anywhere. A headlock takeover doesn’t do much for Lethal either as they’re certainly starting technical. Gresham manages to send him outside and catches Lethal with a kick in the arm on the way back in. A headlock takeover with an armtrap keeps Lethal down but Lethal cartwheels into the basement dropkick to get a breather.

Welcome to the team. There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster today but only a handful are able to stand out above the rest so quickly. It takes a special something to make someone have that kind of an impact and oftentimes a sports background will do the trick. That is the case with a signed WWE star, and now we know a lot more about what to expect from him.
Back in September 2021, NCAA Heavyweight Wrestling Champion and Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson signed with WWE, albeit under a unique contract. Steveson was able to continue his education and college wrestling career, though at least the latter has finished. Steveson appeared on the MMA Hour and revealed that his WWE start date is just after WrestleMania, though no date was given. He also said that he planned on getting in the ring soon after WrestleMania, which is taking place on April 2 an3 3.

That’s a different kind of appearance. Wrestlers are larger than life personalities by design and that has been the case for a very long time now. What makes them all the more interesting is the fact that eventually the cameras go off and the wrestlers become themselves. That often puts them into more common situations, but this time around even the normal situation had a bit of a twist.
Wrestling legends JJ Dillon, under his real name of Jim Morrison, and Kevin Sullivan appeared on Judge Steve Harvey this week. The two were involved in a case involving $7,500 that Dillon loaned Sullivan to buy a boat. Dillon said to “pay him back whenever”, which Sullivan thought meant he had more time. Harvey mentioned being a wrestling fan and the two discussed some of their careers. Eventually Harvey ordered Sullivan to pay the money, though the court footed the bill as a thank you for the years of entertainment. Sullivan and Dillon agreed to remain friends after the situation was over.
