Their eyes have been caught. Every wrestling promotion has to make changes to keep their roster fresh. This can be done in a variety of ways, but the easiest is to just bring in new wrestlers. These wrestlers might come from anywhere and sometimes they come in bunches. That might be the case again, as AEW has its eyes on one of the biggest free agents in wrestling today.
According to Fightful Select, Jonathan Gresham is expected to be signed to either AEW or Ring of Honor, with Gresham working on AEW shows either way. There is no word on when Gresham could be making his AEW debut..Gresham is the reigning Ring of Honor World Champion and will be facing Bandido in a unification match at Supercard of Honor on April 1. AEW President Tony Khan announced his purchase of Ring of Honor earlier this month.

Welcome back. There are all kinds of injuries that take place in the wrestling world and some of them can be a lot more serious than others. As soon as someone gets hurt, one of the most important questions to ask is how long will they be out of action. You never know how long it might be, but hopefully it isn’t overly serious. One recently injured wrestler made his television return this week after a good while away.
This week’s SmackDown saw the return of King Woods, as he defeated Ridge Holland in less than a minute with a small package. Kofi Kingston was originally scheduled to face Holland but brought out Woods as a surprise, though the ring announcer had already mentioned Woods’ name. The match was Woods’ first on television since the January 7 SmackDown due to a calf injury, though he returned to live event matches earlier this month.

I guess they have no path. WrestleMania is the most important show of the year in WWE and being on the card can be a huge boost to someone’s career. There are all kinds of ways to get there and this year’s show being split over two nights should make it even easier for a wrestler to make it. Not everyone can though, and that seems to be the case with some rather prominent names.
Two matches for next week’s SmackDown were announced on this week’s episode. First up, Intercontinental Champion Ricochet will defend against Angel and Humberto in a triple threat match. Second, the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal will take place, with United States Champion Finn Balor listed as a participant. While things could change, this would suggest that neither of them will wrestle at WrestleMania.

Lineup change? We are a week away from WrestleMania 38 and in theory, that should mean that WWE has everything set up. There are several things set up for the show and that is going to make for a rather loaded show. Just making the matches is the first step though as they also have to be presented in the best way. It turns out that the plans might have already changed.
One of the segments announced for WrestleMania Saturday is Steve Austin as a guest on the Kevin Owens Show. Original reports had said this would be the closing segment of the show, but according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the SmackDown Women’s Title match between Charlotte and Ronda Rousey is expected to headline the night. There is no word on why WWE made such a change.
Opinion: Rousey vs. Charlotte might not have the same amount of star power, but it is probably a better move. A wrestling show ending with a wrestling match makes the most sense as ending with something focused on talking would be a bit of a..

But he hasn’t started yet. There are several different ways to debut a wrestler and some of them are as old as time. One of the easiest ways in the modern era is to run a series of vignettes on television saying that a wrestler will be there soon. It builds up anticipation for the fans and then they know what they are seeing. But what if you advertise one thing and then present another?
Back in November 2021, vignettes began airing on Monday Night Raw announcing that Veer Mahaan was coming to the show soon. This would be a return for Mahaan, as he had been an associate of Jinder Mahal before leaving television. Mahaan has yet to appear, though he has been advertised to appear on the April 4 Monday Night Raw. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Mahaan will undergo some sort of a change to his original character. There is no word on what kind of changes will be made.

We are back on Friday and that means we should be in for the heavy wrestling show. There is also a title match this week as Shane Strickland gets to challenge Ricky Starks for the FTW Title. Other than that, hometown boy Dustin Rhodes is facing Lance Archer in a bid for revenge from months ago. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Lance Archer vs. Dustin Rhodes Archer drags one of Rhodes’ students to the ring but here is Dustin for the save. Hold on though as Dustin has to beat up Dan Lambert (who is still managing Archer) but Archer makes the save. They head inside with Archer knocking him around and hitting him in the head. Dustin fights back up and knocks him outside, only to miss the flip dive off the apron.
Back in and Dustin is bleeding from the ear, with the blood on Archer’s hands for a good visual. A twisting middle rope splash gives Archer two and we take a break..

We’re eight days away from Wrestlemania and believe it or not, the preview for the show has a picture of Roman Reigns/Brock Lesnar/Paul Heyman, because that is the only thing on this show that matters. It would be nice for the new Intercontinental Champion to get a Wrestlemania match set up, but I wouldn’t bet on it anytime soon. Let’s get to it.
We open with a recap of Brock Lesnar’s path of rage last week, including the fork lift attack on the Bloodline’s SUV.

Brock Lesnar is outside of Reigns’ dressing room and says that he has paid some fines and bought some vehicles, including a blood red SUV for Reigns himself. Now upper management has told him to not have any contact with Reigns, so he’ll be sitting in Reigns’ locker room and wait for a good provoking. It’s a numbers thing. The WWE roster is not exactly in the same place that it was in just a few years ago. After the huge list of releases over the last two years, WWE’s roster is nowhere near as deep as it was before. The numbers just are not there at the moment, and that seems to have led to a change of plans for a pair of matches next week at WrestleMania 38.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has had no discussions of holding either the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal or the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal at this year’s WrestleMania. Initial reports had stated that the women’s battle royal would take place at WrestleMania while the men’s version might be on television the week before. At the moment however, there are not enough women available for such a match. The women’s version has not been held since 2019.
Opinion: This is something that makes sense when you think about it, as the women’s roster just does not have the amount of wrestlers to make some..

It was great while it lasted. There have been a lot of stars throughout the history of wrestling but very few make it all the way to legendary status. Those are the names who have been around for so long that it is hard to imagine wrestling without them, but at some point, everyone is going to have to hang up their boots. That is the case again with an all time legend.
Triple H was a guest on ESPN First Take and announced that his in-ring career was over due to health issues. This comes after Triple H suffered a cardiac event back in August and has not returned to full time work in WWE since. He also revealed that his heard injection fracture was at 12%, while 55-65% is considered good, meaning that he was in heart failure. As a result, Triple H has a defibrillator in his chest and he did not thing it was a good idea for him to be zapped on live television. There is no word on his return to working backstage for WWE. Triple’s last match came at a live event in Tokyo, Japan on June 29,..

It was nice while it lasted. There are a lot of wrestlers in WWE’s history and some of them have done some very memorable things. While they might not have all had the same amount of success, all of them have been around for at least a little while, meaning at some point their career has to end. It seems that we will be seeing that take place again sooner rather than later.
Dirty Dango, formerly known as Fandango in WWE, has announced that he will be stepping away from the ring in the next few months. He also says “Goodbye forever”, suggesting that he is retiring from wrestling. There was no explanation given for why he is stepping away from the ring. Dango, 38, has been wrestling since 1999 and wrestled for WWE from 2006-2021, when he was released. He has most recently wrestled on the independent circuit, including for the NWA.

It’s quite the honor. The WWE Hall of Fame is one of the longstanding parts of WrestleMania weekend, with inductions taking place almost every year since 2004. You get to see all kinds of stars from years past being honored for what they have done over the years, but there is also a special award for people in another category. Now we know something else about this year’s recipient.
WWE has announced that Shad Gaspard will posthumously receive the Warrior Award at this year’s Hall of Fame induction. Gaspard passed away in 2020 as he drowned saving his son in the ocean. Since his death, several people in WWE have pushed for him to receive the award, which is designed to remember the spirit of the Ultimate Warrior. the ceremony Takes place on April 1 after SmackDown.
Opinion: This is something that is overdue and rather appropriate for both Gaspard and the award. Gaspard seemed to be one of the nicest guys in wrestling and died saving his son, which is about as heroic as you can get. T..
