WWE Changes Yet Another Superstar’s Name

Who are you again? There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster and several of them have names that are going to be well known among fans. However, WWE will occasionally make changes to those names, often for reasons that don’t seem clear on the surface. That seems to be the case again, as a wrestler has lost a moniker that he won not so very long ago.
WWE has changed King Woods’ name back to his old name of Xavier Woods, as per Woods’ WWE.com profile. The name change comes after Woods returned under the King name last week on SmackDown for his match against Ridge Holland. There is no word on why the name change was made. Woods won the 2021 King of the Ring tournament to earn his new name and turned it into an aspect of his personality, including knighting partner Kofi Kingston.
Opinion: This is one of those changes that makes a bit more sense than most. They aren’t changing anything major about Woods but rather dropping the King aspect. That isn’t quite as drastic of a change as P..

REVIEW: More Than Just WrestleMania

As you might have heard, WrestleMania 38 is this weekend and that means things are picking up in a big way. WWE has its work cut out for them as they try to sell out AT&T Stadium two nights in a row, but there are some more things going on over the course of the weekend as well. That is what we are going to be looking at today, as WrestleMania Weekend is about a lot more than WrestleMania.
Next weekend will be called the biggest wrestling weekend of the year and that is the case for a lot of wrestling promotions that have nothing to do with WWE. In addition, several other promotions will be running events in and around Dallas, which is what we will be looking at this week. I’ll be avoiding WrestleMania and other major WWE shows (save for NXT, which is kind of its own thing) and non-wrestling events, which should leave us with more than enough material.
These are in no particular order.
WrestleCon SuperShow In short, it’s the biggest independent wrestling show of the weekend with a s..

WrestleMania Is Going To Make A Lot Of Money (And Just Not For WWE)

That’s why they fight over it. WrestleMania 38 is just a few days away and most of the build has been completed. If all goes according to plan, WWE has put together a card that is going to bring in the maximum amount of fans to the event. WWE is certainly ready to take over the Dallas area for the show, and it turns out that is going to be a very lucrative deal for the city itself.
According to the Dallas Morning News, WrestleMania 38 will bring in $200 million to the Dallas area economy. This comes through expenses such as food, lodging, transportation, retail and recreational activities. WWE will be in the Dallas area for SmackDown on Friday, NXT Stand & Deliver on Saturday and Monday Night Raw on Monday, plus in Arlington on Saturday and Sunday for WrestleMania. This is the second time that that Dallas area has hosted WrestleMania, following WrestleMania 32 in 2016.
Opinion: And that’s why cities bid over the rights to host WrestleMania. It is incredible to see how much money come..

WRESTLING RUMORS: Steve Austin’s WWE Future After WrestleMania

Stick around? WWE often brings in the bigger names for WrestleMania season and that is the case again this year, as Steve Austin is set to appear as a guest on the Kevin Owens Show on WrestleMania Saturday. The segment is the closest thing to a match that Austin has had in nearly twenty years, but there are a lot more shows beyond WrestleMania. What does that mean for Austin’s future?
According to Steve Carrier of Ringsidenews.com, Austin’s appearance at WrestleMania is currently planned to be a one off event, though plans could change in the future. Austin is not expected to wrestle at the show, as he has not had an official match since WrestleMania 19 in 2003. Austin’s segment with Owens is expected to close out the first night of WrestleMania.
WrestleMania is exciting, because Steve Austin is coming “back” to WWE. The big question is how often fans will see him.
We were told that, as of right now, Austin's WrestleMania appearance is a one-time only thing. Things could always..

REVIEW: WrestleMania 35: All The Good Feelings

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Wrestlemania XXXV
Date: April 7, 2019
Location: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey
Attendance: 82,265
Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Renee Young, Byron Saxton, Tom Phillips
America the Beautiful: Yolanda Adams
We’re back to this show after a year away and I’m not sure what to think about this one. I wasn’t in the stadium for this one and for once that is making me remember the show a little bit better. This whole thing is centered around a few matches, as Wrestlemania always tends to be. Let’s..

WWE Probably Moving Traditional Pay Per View To Saudi Arabia

That’s the next stop. There are several WWE pay per view events in any given year and some of them have been on the calendar for a long time. While some of the shows take place every year, it might be in a different month in any given year. That can make for some surprising changes, and now one of the company’s signature shows is going to be taking place in a different way.
According to F4WOnline.com, this year’s WWE Tables, Ladders And Chairs event is likely to take place in Saudi Arabia. The event would be taking place in September, which has a slot for a yet to be announced pay per view. The show has never been held in Saudi Arabia, though WWE presented the Elimination Chamber in the country earlier this year. WWE did not hold a Tables, Ladders and Chairs show in 2021.
Opinion: Sure why not. It isn’t like this is one of the biggest shows of the yar so throwing it into Saudi Arabia mix is a fair enough idea. WWE has to present events in Saudi Arabia, so why not take care of one of ..

AEW Reportedly Very Interested In Former WWE Star

She has their attention. Over the last year and a half plus, all kinds of wrestlers have left WWE. While the company has released the majority of those wrestlers, there have been a few that have left on their own accord. That opens up some new doors for those wrestlers, and now another one of them might have another place to go, as a major company has shown interest in her.
According to Fightful Select, AEW has “significant” interest in bringing in former WWE star Toni Storm. The interest is high enough that multiple AEW wrestlers expect Storm to debut with the company sooner rather than later. Storm made her WWE main roster debut on SmackDown in July 2021 but requested her release from the company in December of the same year after flying home following a live event.
Opinion: This isn’t exactly a surprise as Storm is someone with all the talent she could ever need and experience to back it up. I’m still not sure how she didn’t work out in WWE, but when the best thing you can do is h..

Welcome Back? WWE Bringing In A Surprise Big Name For WrestleMania Weekend

He’s a big name. There are a lot of wrestling families but the most important name in the sport’s history might be McMahon. In modern times, there is no name that comes close to meaning as much, as the McMahon Family has run the most powerful wrestling company in the world. Seeing a McMahon doing almost anything is going to get some attention and that is the case again.
According to PWInsider.com, WWE is bringing in Shane McMahon for WrestleMania weekend. There is no word on what McMahon will be doing, or if he is scheduled to appear on camera at any point. McMahon had been rumored for a match with Seth Rollins at WrestleMania and Rollins is currently scheduled to face a mystery opponent, though there is nothing to suggest that this will be the case. Should McMahon appear, it would be his first appearance since the Royal Rumble, as WWE sent him home due to backstage issues with how McMahon pushed to be used during the match.
Opinion: I’m not sure if McMahon is going to appear, but ju..

WATCH: Kevin Owens Puts His Own Spin On A Classic Steve Austin Promo

He’s really good at that. WrestleMania 38 is this weekend and one of the biggest stories of the two days will be Steve Austin returning as a guest on the Kevin Owens Show. This comes after Owens has spent weeks talking trash about Austin, as well as impersonating him on Monday Night Raw. It turns out that once wasn’t enough and Owens had another trick up his sleeve.
WWE has released a video from before this week’s Monday Night Raw showing Owens putting his own spin on a classic Austin promo. The original promo, which is spliced in with Owens’ version, features Austin coming to Dallas, Texas and listing off a variety of things that he is going to do. Owens’ version talks about how he too is coming to Dallas, but he will not be doing those things. The Kevin Owens Show with Austin as his guest is expected to close out WrestleMania Saturday.
This was pretty awesome. Check out Owens’ version, plus the original:

NXT Live Coverage And Results – March 29, 2022

NXT
Date: March 29, 2022
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett
It’s the go home show for Stand & Deliver and the card is all but set. We still have some matches that need a final push though and that is where this week’s show comes in. If nothing else, there is one spot left in the North American Title ladder match and it gets filled in this week. Let’s get to it.
Imperium vs. LA Knight/MSK Knight and MSK jump Imperium from behind to start and they start fast, with Knight and Barthel trading wristlocks. Barthel gets taken down and MSK hits a neck crank into a basement dropkick. A cheap shot finally takes Knight down though and Barthel kicks him in the chest. The fans want Gunther and receive him almost immediately, with some kicks tot he back keeping Knight in trouble. It’s already off to Aichner for a slam into the ropes for two and the beating villains continue their alternating beatdowns.
Knight finally fights his way over to ..

Velveteen Dream Wants To Return To NXT

I don’t know if I can see it happening. There have been a lot of wrestlers throughout WWE’s history and some of them have reached quite the prominent stature. At the same time, there are far more who are remembered well enough but never quite broke through. Then there are some who are more infamous than famous, and now one of them wants to have another chance.
Former NXT star Velveteen Dream has posted to his Instagram Stories, saying that in spite of the allegations against him, he would love to have a career in NXT. Dream said that he was 26, talented and “ready to go the show what it should be”. Dream was released from WWE in May 2021 due to a series of backstage incidents. He was also accused of sexually harassing underage boys, though a WWE investigation found no wrongdoing. Dreamer has denied the allegations against him.

Opinion: While Dream is one of the most talented stars to come up through the WWE system in a long time, the type of allegations against him are the kind that..

WWE Hall Of Famer Returning To The Ring Again Soon

Welcome back? Wrestling is a unique sport when it comes to retirement. A wrestler can get out of the ring but then jump back in for a one off return, which isn’t something you get to see in more mainstream sports. It can be a lot of fun to see someone return to the ring after so long away, and that is going to be the case again later this year with a certain WWE Hall of Famer.
Jeff Jarrett was recently interviewer by Muscle Man Malcolm and revealed that he plans to wrestle again at some point this year. Jarrett did not say when or where he would be getting back in the ring. He has only wrestled once in nearly three years, defeating Effy at Game Changer Wrestling’s The Wrld On GCW back in January. Jarrett was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016 and has made occasional appearances for the company since.
Opinion: Jarrett is in a unique place as he can still go in the ring and is enough of a legend to get to pick his spots. At the same time, he is also on a level that allows him t..
