Long Awaited Return Takes Place On Monday Night Raw

It was worth the wait. There are a lot of ways to debut a wrestler but some of them can be more successful than others. It can be interesting to see what a promotion does to pique interest in a wrestler, though there are times when it seems like they are just messing with the fans. That seemed to be the case for the last several months, but now we have finally gotten somewhere.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Veer Mahaan returned to the show, attacking both Rey and Dominik Mysterio. This was Mahaan’s first appearance since September, though WWE has run vignettes hyping up his return since November. WWE reportedly stretched out his return as a way to mess with fans who were waiting on him to debut. Mahaan has been wrestling matches on Main Event since October.
Opinion: I’m not sure if it worked out in the end, but ultimately this is something that WWE had to do at some point. Mahaan isn’t someone who got to do much during his first run with the company but now we get to see what happen..

Big Match And Special Speech Take Place After Monday Night Raw

One more match. WrestleMania weekend has come and gone, meaning that the biggest wrestling weekend of the year is over. After five days of shows from WWE and other promotions, it is time to get back to normal and start doing everything as we usually do. There was still time for one final match though and it took place after Monday Night Raw went off the air.
This week’s post Monday Night Raw dark match saw Cody Rhodes defeat Kevin Owens with the Cross Rhodes. After the match was over, Rhodes spoke to the crowd about how he never had any doubt about coming back to WWE and how surreal of a moment this was. He also revealed that his cousin worked for WWE and was at the timekeeper’s area. Rhodes greeted some fans as they left the arena to end the night.
Opinion: This was a heck of a weekend with all kinds of stuff going on and it made for a very exciting few days. Rhodes returning was one of the bigger parts and it made sense for him to be the grand finale. The match was a fun way to wra..

Backstage News On The Reason For A Strange WrestleMania Surprise

That’s an interesting explanation. WrestleMania 38 has come and gone and there were a lot of major moments throughout the show. The event took over the course of two nights and that meant several memorable events were able to take place. Some of these involved surprises and betrayals, and now we know the thinking behind one of those changes, even if it is a bit odd.
One of the surprises at WrestleMania 38 saw the Miz turn on Logan Paul after the two of them defeated the Mysterios. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, part of Paul’s deal was that he would wind up being a babyface when he his time in WWE was up. Miz attacking Paul was designed to cause the turn. There is no word on if Paul will be returning to WWE in the future.
Opinion: I’m not sure how well this plan is going to work but at least there was an idea in place. Paul is not known for being a likable guy and he spent the entire match mocking the beloved Eddie Guerrero. It is going to take something bigger than Miz beatin..

Two WWE Teams Violently Split Up On Monday Night Raw

So much for that. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it makes a lot of sense to pair some of them up. That has worked out well in a lot of situations, as some of the teams and pairings have been quite the successes. Some of them are among the best things going in WWE today, but they all have to end at some point. That was the case again this week in a surprise twist.
Two different pairings split up this week on Monday Night Raw. First, the returning MVP turned on Bobby Lashley to side with Omos. Lashley and Omos were having a staredown when MVP attacked Lashley, allowing Omos to beat Lashley down and side with MVP. Later, Carmella and Queen Zelina get in an argument before their scheduled tag match, with Zelina attacking Carmella and leaving to officially end their team as well.
Opinion: The Carmella/Zelina split has been building for some time, but the MVP/Lashley split seemed to come out of nowhere. I’m not sure why they needed to be split, though Lashley has basically becom..

Title Changes Hands For The First Time Ever On Monday Night Raw

History has been made! There are a lot of titles under the WWE umbrella and it can be a big deal when one of them changes hands. It means a lot for both the company and the wrestlers involved, as things are changing in a big way for multiple people involved. If it is one of the first titles in a wrestler’s career, it can mean even more, which was the case this week.
Bron Breakker defeated Dolph Ziggler to regain the NXT Title during this week’s Monday Night Raw. The win came after Ziggler defeated Breakker to retain the title at NXT Stand & Deliver on Saturday, albeit by cheating. This marks Breakker’s second reign as NXT Champion and it came in 24th career match. It is also the first time that the title has changed hands on a regular WWE main roster show.
Opinion: It was kind of a confusing few days, as Breakker lost his big title match, only to win it in his next try on a show you wouldn’t expect. That is certainly a different way to go but what matters is that the title is back wh..

WWE Star Returns On Monday Night Raw…..Kind Of

Don’t I know you? There are a lot of ways to introduce a wrestler and some of them are more interesting than others. One of the problems is that there are not very many ideas that have not been done yet and that can create a problem. It is rare to see something unique these days, though WWE might have come fairly close this week with a face you might remember.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Kevin Owens was interrupted by Ezekiel, who was formerly known as Elias. However, Ezekiel claimed to be Elias’ younger brother and had shaved his beard. Owens insisted that Ezekiel was Elias but left after threatening to start a fight. This is Elias/Ezekiel’s first appearance since August, as WWE had been attempting to come up with something new for him.
Opinion: That’s a new one on me and that is a good thing. In addition to having Ezekiel around, it is nice to do something other than just going with the same idea. I’m sure the real identity will be revealed eventually, but it is certainly a diff..

REVIEW: Smackdown – September 9, 2005: Moving Day

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Smackdown
Date: September 9, 2005
Location: Gwinnett Center, Duluth, Georgia
Attendance: 4,000
Commentators: Michael Cole, Tazz
It’s a big night as Smackdown moves over to Fridays, where it would stay for a very long time to come. This is a stacked card with Batista defending the World Title against JBL in a bullrope match, Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio in a cage match and Heidenreich/Animal defending the Tag Team Titles against MNM. Let’s get to it.
A small note about this show: the first hour was aired on WWE..

NBCUniversal Developing A New Scripted Wrestling Series

That could be interesting. Professional wrestling is about telling stories and there have been some very interesting ones told over the years. This has made for some fascinating television as you can see how all of the characters come together to make something work. Now we might be seeing a twist on it though, as we could be seeing a show about the business itself.
According to Deadline, NBCUniversal is developing a series called Pinned, which will be set in a fictional wrestling promotion. The series will have FOX Sports’ Tom Rinaldi and Vince McMahon as executive producers and is described as:
“…an “adrenalized” upstairs-downstairs soap that gives a behind-the-scenes look at a fictional wrestling promotion and the “unforgettable” characters that populate it. Pinned offers a front-row seat into the eccentric wrestling culture and the mayhem that exists between the locker room and the boardroom.”
There is no word on when or where the series will air, as NBCUniversal has not tied it..

Another Backstage Name Leaves WWE After WrestleMania

They’ll need a replacement. There are a lot of people who work together to make a WWE show work. While the wrestlers are the most obvious, they are also going to need some help getting things set up in the first place. That can be easier said than done but WWE has an experienced staff of people backstage helping. However, that staff is now going to be one person short.
According to PWInsider.com, WWE producer Pat Buck has finished up with the company after WrestleMania 38. Buck helped produce Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte and Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, which was enough for him to feel that he has accomplished his goals. He is also leaving to spend more time with his family and working at his Create-A-Pro wrestling school and WrestlePro promotion.
Opinion: This is something that happens a lot as you see the lineup of producers changing at a somewhat regular rate. At the end of the day, being a WWE producer is not the easiest job in the world as there are a lot of peop..

Update On Confusing Injury At WrestleMania 38

Ouch. There were a lot of matches over the two nights of WrestleMania 38, some of which were rather notable. Some of them are going to be talked about for a long time to come, though there were a few things that might have caught your attention between the matches. One of them was before the match actually started, and now we know a bit more about what happened.
One of the matches at WrestleMania 38 saw Edge defeat AJ Styles. However, Styles was already bleeding before he came to the ring, with a cut on the side of his face. The cut was not explained by commentary, but according to Wrestling Observer Radio, Styles cut himself on something unknown backstage. It was also clarified that it was not due to a pyro issue as had been speculated. Styles was also said to be angry on his way to the ring due to the cut.
Opinion: I’m not sure what happened to Styles but what matters is that it seems to be something on the surface instead of anything serious. The match wound up being pretty good t..

WRESTLING RUMORS: Roman Reigns Possibly Injured At WrestleMania 38

That’s not good. An injury can take down any wrestler at any time and that can make for some very scary moments. It doesn’t matter if someone is the lowest on the card or the biggest star in the company. No matter who you are, you could get hurt and put on the shelf. It seems that there might be another injury scare in WWE and it involves one of their biggest stars.
The main event of night two of WrestleMania 38 saw Roman Reigns defeat Brock Lesnar to unify the Universal and WWE Titles. Late in the match, Reigns could be heard saying “it’s out” after being caught in a Kimura arm hold. Photos from the match show a bulge on Reigns’ arm from around the same time. This should be seen as pure SPECULATION at this point as there is no word on what, if anything, is wrong with Reigns.
Like I said.
Roman Reigns got his shoulder split/separated/whatever in the Barricade spot.
LEsnar also did something to his ribs not long after that.
Both wrestled another 10+ minutes to that finish. Brock reali..

WATCH: A Special Look Back At Triple H’s Career

He deserves it. There are a lot of wrestlers in the WWE’s long history but some of them have reached levels that others cannot approach. It means a lot when you see one of those wrestlers hang up their boots for good, as it means there will not be any new memories of them in the future. It also gives you a chance to look back at the things they did, and that is what WWE is doing again.
Night Two of WrestleMania 38 opened with Triple H leaving his boots in the ring, signaling that he is retiring from wrestling. This comes after he suffered a heart issue in August of last year, leaving him unable to ever wrestle again. WWE has posted several videos on Triple H’s career over the years and it seemed to be a good time to look back at some of the better ones, including these two.
He’s that good. Check out some of WWE’s looks back at Triple H:
