Wrestling Legend: “I Lost All Respect For Shawn Michaels”

That’s definitely a take. There have been all kinds of matches over the years but there are some that stand out over the rest. That might not always be for the best of reasons though, as there are instances of wrestlers doing something in the ring that does not go so well. Now a wrestling legend is weighing in on an infamous match and it is not the most positive reaction.
During the latest edition of his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff discussed the Summerslam 2005 match between Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels. The match featured Michaels overselling Hogan’s offense with several over exaggerated landings and falls. Bischoff said of the match:
“I lost all respect for Shawn Michaels. It was pretty clear. There was an issue between Hulk and Shawn Michaels. There was a lack of respect, I think, there, perhaps some jealousy on Shawn’s part that, ‘Here’s this Hulk Hogan. He’s still here. He’s still the guy.’ I don’t know. I wasn’t close to Shawn at that point.”
The match was scheduled to be..

NXT Star Announces She Needs Surgery

She’s out for a bit. You never know when you are going to see an injury take place in the wrestling world and that is never a good thing. Wrestlers can be put on the shelf at any point for any length of time and it becomes a question of how long it will be before they are able to get back in the ring. Unfortunately that is the case again with a young, up and coming star.
NXT’s Arianna Grace has announced that she has suffered an undisclosed injury and will be undergoing surgery next week. There is no word on how long she will be out, but Grace has promised to document her recovery process on social media. Grace is the daughter of Santino Marella and has been in NXT since the beginning of the year. She has recently been teaming with Kiana James.
Hey you guys!!!! Sadly, I’m injured and will have surgery next week. I’m going to do all I can to recover properly and come back stronger so I can get back to doing what I love, performing for all of YOU! I can’t wait to get back in the ring ?..

Warner Brothers Discovery Executive On More AEW Programming (Minus A Ring)

They want more. AEW has come a long way in its three years of existence. A lot of the company’s success can be attributed to its programming being broadcast on Warner Brothers Discovery networks. The shows are available in prime time on national networks and the potential audience is high as a result. Now we might be in for an expansion of the company’s programming, but in a different way.
Warner Brothers Discovery Group Chair and Chief Content Officer Kathleen Finch was recently interviewed by the Hollywood Reporter and spoke about the company’s relationship with AEW. Finch said that AEW pulls in huge numbers and as a result, Warner Brothers Discovery is trying to find new programming featuring AEW stars without it being in a wrestling ring. There is no word on what kind of programming this could be.
Opinion: I don’t know what this is going to mean but there is something a bit ominous about the way that was worded. It almost came off like saying Warner Brothers Discovery likes the A..

Daniel Cormier Forgot The Ending To WWE Extreme Rules Main Event

He’ll get better at it. There are all kinds of ways to spice up a match and one of the most common is to bring in someone from outside to make the match feel more special. This could include anything from a stipulation to someone extra being included. Last weekend WWE included someone extra in a match but things almost went rather bad just before the match was starting.
Last Saturday at WWE Extreme Rules, UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier refereed the show’s main event between Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle in the Fight Pit. Cormier discussed the event on the DC & RC Show (the Extreme Rules portion begins around 3:30), revealing that he was incredibly nervous before the match began. The issue reached the point that Cormier even forgot the finish to the match and had to ask what it was supposed to be again. There is no word on if WWE plans to use Cormier again.
Opinion: The appearance did seem to mean a lot to Cormier and that is always nice to see. He suited the role well and I could se..

AEW Star Makes Surprise Return After Four Month Absence

Welcome home. There are a lot of ways to bring a wrestler back after time away from the company and one of the best is as a surprise partner. That is something that can do well on its own but there are ways to sweeten it even more. Bringing someone back in the right place can make it even better and that is what took place this week to some very positive result.
This week, AEW made its Canadian debut with a show in Toronto. During the show, the Embassy challenged FTR to a match later in the week on Rampage, with FTR bringing out Toronto’s Shawn Spears to be their partner. Spears has not wrestled since May 25 after being injured. There is no word on if this is a full on babyface turn for Spears or just a one off due to being in his hometown.
Opinion: This was a well done setup and the place did go nuts for Spears’ TEN entrance. That is the kind of thing that had some thought put into it and I’m curious to see what happens when Spears is given a chance to shine in a different way. It m..

WATCH: Mustafa Ali Says “I’m Done”

He’s done? With so much talent on WWE, it can be difficult to find time for a lot of wrestlers to get in the ring or even on television. It can be frustrating for some stars who are unable to appear on any of the shows and in some cases it can cause some problems for those wrestlers. That might be the case again with a star who has a history with not appearing on WWE TV for a long time.
Last week on Monday Night Raw, Mustafa Ali had his first match on the show in nearly two months, losing to Bobby Lashley. Ali has since released a video, titled “I’m Done”, in which he says he is done with waiting around for someone to come after him or with blaming everyone else for his problems. Ali also warns anyone who is in the ring with him of what is coming for them. There is no word on any plans from WWE to use Ali more frequently.
There’s a lot to this. Check out what Ali had to say:

Opinion: We’ll have to wait and see where this leads, but the vide..

AEW’s Paige VanZant’s Trainer Claims She Has Stopped Wrestling Training

Maybe later? Wrestling has a long history of athletes from other sports coming in and trying their hands at something else. It has been hit and miss throughout history, with certain sports doing it better than others. Mixed martial arts has some of the better success, but now one of the more prominent fighters turned wrestlers seems to have have dropped wrestling, at least for the time being.
Former UFC fighter Paige VanZant has appeared multiple times for AEW over the years, including wrestling a match at Double Or Nothing 2022. However, during an interview with K & S Wrestlefest, VanZant’s trainer Gangrel said that VanZant has stopped communicating with her. Gangrel says that VanZant wrote him and asked for some critiquing of her match but the stopped contacting him. He also said that while she was talented, she did not train as often as he would have liked. There is no word on if VanZant is training elsewhere or has stopped training for the time being. She has not appeared on AEW T..

REVIEW: Halloween Havoc 1994: The Hogan Effect

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Halloween Havoc 1994
Date: October 23, 1994
Location: Joe Louis Arena, Detroit, Michigan
Attendance: 14,000
Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Bobby Heenan
Someone requested this show and I haven’t watched any WCW in a VERY long time now. It’s as good of a time as any as I could go for a little pallet cleanser. Hulk Hogan has shown up and that means it’s time to put everything around him. You have to get rid of some big names at the same time, so the big main event is Hogan vs. Ric Flair in a cage, title/c..

WRESTLING RUMOR: How WWE And USA Currently View Monday Night Raw

They’re doing something right. WWE is a huge wrestling company and its two flagship programs air on major networks. This includes SmackDown on FOX and Monday Night Raw on USA, both of which receive major attention every single week. WWE has to work hard to make sure that the networks are happy and now they have some good news on one of those fronts.
According to Andrew Zarian, both WWE and the USA Network are pleased with how Monday Night Raw is currently going. This includes the viewership and cable rating, both of which saw boosts this week. The show included the surprise return of Brock Lesnar, which may have been a “make good” on the lack of Bray Wyatt appearing on the show. Wyatt is expected to be part of the SmackDown roster going forward.
USA network and WWE are both very happy with the direction of Raw.
Lesnar returning on the show felt like a “make good” to many at USA for not having Bray on Raw following the buzz from Extreme Rules. https://t.co/q2MieiJjNr

Special Reunion Takes Place After AEW Dynamite

He wasn’t done yet. There is something special about a wrestler winning their first championship. It often means that a wrestler’s career is starting to take off and that is always worth something. Whether it is in a smaller promotion or a more prominent one, there is value to moving into such a different position. A current star has done just that and now he has something to say.
The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw Orange Cassidy win the All-Atlantic Title from Pac. According to PWInsider.com, Cassidy addressed the crowd after the show was over. Cassidy said “Canada, look what I did!” before saying that he doesn’t like carrying things and asked for his backpack. This brought out Kris Statlander appearing as a surprise to bring it to him. The Best Friends joined the two to celebrate, with AEW President Tony Khan coming to the ring to join them. Cassidy also asked fans to come back the next night for the Rampage tapings.
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is..

Wrestling Legend Hints At Changes Coming In His In-Ring Career

It happens to everyone. There are all kinds of wrestlers in the world and some of them have been around for quite a long time. It is interesting to find someone who has had the kind of career that spans several decades as they have seen just about everything that there is to see. At some point though, everyone has to hang up their boots and that might be happening again.
AEW’s Dustin Rhodes has posted a tweet discussion his status in wrestling. Rhodes, 53, says his old age has caught up with him and that he is doing some “heavy thinking” about his next step. He also says that time comes for everyone and that he is kind of scared. Rhodes does NOT say that he is retiring or anything similar in specific. Rhodes has only wrestled five times this year, with his most recent match taking place on August 24.
Man, old age has caught up to me guys. As much as I push myself beyond my limits, I can honestly say, I am doing some heavy thinking about the next step. We all think we can go forever w..

Surprise Title Change Takes Place On AEW Dynamite

It’s a big deal. There are all kinds of championships in wrestling today and several of them are among the most important in all of the industry. Winning a championship can change the way a wrestler’s career works and it can make a world of difference in what they are doing. This week saw a huge moment for a popular AEW star, as he has won his first major title.
The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw Orange Cassidy defeat Pac to win the All-Atlantic Title, marking his first title in the company. Cassidy had been chasing the title for several weeks, with Pac turning him down for a title shot because he did not consider Cassidy to be a real contender. Cassidy has been part of AEW since its inception and unsuccessfully challenged for multiple titles.
Opinion: AEW nailed this one and they did it in a way with low stakes that felt high. The All-Atlantic Title might not be the most important championship in the company but winning it means a lot to Cassidy. He got his big moment an..
