Update On Possible CM Punk Return To WWE, Not Looking Likely

Maybe not? There have been a lot of important news stories taking place in the wrestling world this year but very few of them have been discussed as much as CM Punk’s rant at the AEW All Out media scrum. Punk has not yet returned to AEW TV and there is a chance that he never will. Should he leave AEW, there is only one other major place he would likely go, but that might not be so easy.
Earlier this week, a story surfaced suggesting that AEW was working on a possible contract buyout for Punk, which would eventually free him up for a possible return to WWE. However, according to PWTorch.com by way of Wrestlinginc.com, while Triple H would be willing to allow Punk to return, there is at least one person in Triple H’s “sphere of influence” of “decision-making” that would be a hard No on a Punk return. There is no word on when Punk might be able to return to WWE, assuming his AEW contract is bought out.
Opinion: While Punk leaving AEW immediately brought up discussions of a return to WWE..

Sami Zayn Possibly In Line For Huge WWE Push

That would be a way to go. There are all kinds of stars in WWE but Roman Reigns is far ahead of just about everyone else. Reigns has held the WWE Universal Title for over two years and there is nothing to suggest that he will be losing the title anytime soon. After dominating for so long, it is going to take someone special to take the title from him. Now we know who might be one of his next challengers.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE may have Sami Zayn challenge Reigns for the title at some point in 2023. Zayn is currently part of Reigns’ Bloodline stable as the honorary Uce, which has led to issues with Reigns’ cousin Jey Uso. There is no word on how WWE would split Zayn away from the stable or set up the match, whenever it would take place.
Opinion: This is one of those ideas that isn’t that hard to fathom and I would be surprised if it didn’t happen at some point in the future. Zayn is getting more and more popular every week and having him split off from the..

REVIEW: Joey Janela’s Spring Break 6 Night Two: This Is Great?

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Joey Janela’s Spring Break 6 Night 2
Date: April 1, 2022
Location: Fair Park, Dallas, Texas
Commentators: Dave Prazak, Kevin Gill
It’s the second half of the show and in this case, it needs to get a pretty big upgrade over the first half. Night one was a decent enough show, but it wasn’t memorable, which is the point of a show like this. Now that being being said, this show is built around the Clusterf*** Battle Royal, which could be quite the mess. Let’s get to it.
We open with Joey Janela talking about beating ..

38 Year Old Former WWE Star Willing To Return To Work With Roman Reigns

He wants in too. There has not been a WWE star on as much of a roll as Roman Reigns in decades. Reigns is rapidly closing the gap with the longest WWE Title reigns in company history and the question becomes how far he can take his current reign with the title. A lot of people are interested in getting involved with Reigns, including someone who has been gone for a long time.
During the latest edition of his Cafe de Rene podcast, former WWE star Rene Dupree said that he believes he could do great business with Reigns, or any of the top stars in WWE. This could include facing Reigns on his own and then teaming with him, with only a phone call from Triple H needed to make it happen. Dupree, 38 years old, regularly wrestles for Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan and last wrestled for WWE in 2007.
Opinion: While I can’t quite imagine WWE bringing Dupree back in, there is something to be said about how many people want a piece of the Reigns pie. Reigns has become the biggest thing in wrestling a..

Goldberg Takes Huge Shot At Roman Reigns: “I Don’t Look Like…A Girl”

That’s a shot. A finishing move is one of the most important parts of any wrestler’s presentation. Having the right signature move is the kind of thing that can make anyone look like a star but even then it has to be done in a certain way. At some point different people are going to wind up using the same moves as others, and now one of the biggest stars in wrestling history doesn’t like how another star uses his signature move.
WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg appeared on the Roman Atwood podcast where he talked about Roman Reigns using the spear. According to Goldberg, Reigns has said that it is stupid to go out and hit someone hard, though Goldberg says if you can hit someone hard and not hurt them it’s pretty smart. Goldberg also said “plus, I don’t look like a, no offense, girl when I tackle people.” Reigns defeated Goldberg earlier this year at Elimination chamber.
Opinion: Those are the kind of words that are going to get attention and that is no surprise. Goldberg was one of the fi..

WWE Explains The Absence Of Two Monday Night Raw Stars

They need some time. There are all kinds of reasons to take someone off of a television show. It could be for anything from an injury to someone needing some time to be freshened up a bit. WWE does this on a regular basis and that is what they have done in two different ways with a pair of wrestlers, both of which were announced on the same television show.
WWE seemingly wrote off or explained the absences of two wrestlers this week on Monday Night Raw. First, the Miz mentioned Tommaso Ciampa missing during a promo, with Johnny Gargano responding that Ciampa was not missing, but rather injured. Ciampa has not wrestled since a live event on September 17. It is not clear what is wrong with him or when he will be back. Later in the show, Damage Ctrl attacked Candice LeRae, with commentary later announcing that LeRae had suffered a shoulder injury. There is no word on when LeRae will be returning to the ring.
Opinion: This is what has to be done every now and then and the question instan..

Surprise Return With Big Character Change In Monday Night Raw Main Event

Welcome back. There have been a lot of changes taking place in WWE in recent months and several of them have involved the wrestlers themselves. This has included wrestlers reverting to characters and personae they have used before, often in NXT. These changes have opened several new doors and now we saw another one at the end of Monday Night Raw, with quite the change.
The main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw saw Bayley face Bianca Belair in a non-title match. Near the end of the match, an unidentified woman dove onto the rest of Bayley’s Damage Ctrl teammates, taking down the referee at the same time. The woman was then seen to be Nikki Cross, formerly Nikki Ash and no longer wearing her mask. Cross then DDTed Belair to give Bayley the win. Following the match, Ash attacked Bayley as well.
Opinion: This is one of those changes that makes all the sense in the world and leaves you wondering what took WWE so long to make the move. Ash wasn’t working so switching back to Cross mak..

Monday Night Raw Results – October 24, 2022

Monday Night Raw
Date: October 24, 2022
Location: Spectrum Center, Charlotte, North Carolina
Commentators: Corey Graves, Kevin Patrick
We are less than two weeks away from Crown Jewel and that means the card is going to need a little more build up. Two more matches were added last week and now we are probably going to get either some build towards those matches and/or even more matches added. That is what the show needs so let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Here is Judgment Day to get things going. Rhea Ripley says that last week, AJ Styles found out that Judgment Day runs Monday Night Raw and that Dominik Mysterio is all man. Damian Priest wants the people to rise for the greatest luchador of all time. Dominik says these are the only people who ever believed in him and says last week was proof that Eddie Guerrero was his generation’s Dominik Mysterio. Cue the OC to say Dominik is stupid because he’s more like the James Ellsworth of this generation. Karl Anderson is ready to face Fi..

BREAKING: Title Change Takes Place On Monday Night Raw

History has been made! There are all kinds of titles under the WWE banner and some of them are among the most important in all of wrestling. It means something when someone wins one of the titles, especially if it ends a long reign by a former champion. That was the case again this week as a major title reign came to an end at the hands of someone who has held the title before.
The main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw saw Bayley defeat Bianca Belair to win the Raw Women’s Title. The win came after the returning Nikki Cross laid out Belair with a DDT, allowing Bayley to win the title. This makes Bayley a two time Raw Women’s Champion, after she previously held the title for about two and a half months back in 2017. Belair’s reign ends at 206 days after she won the title from Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 38.
Opinion: This is a title change that needed to happen as Bayley has been presented as the top villain in the women’s division since her return at Summerslam. To be a villain o..

International Wrestling Star Undergoes Emergency Surgery After Title Match

That’s serious. There are all kinds of injuries in wrestling and unfortunately there is no way to know when one of them is coming. Sometimes you see someone get hurt out of nowhere and something has to be done immediately for the sake of their long term health. While details are still unclear, another wrestler had to undergo emergency surgery to deal with a medical issue.
Impact Wrestling’s Laredo Kid has had a message posted to his Instagram page showing him in a hospital bed recovering from some kind of abdominal surgery. The post, translated from Spanish, says that Kid was forced to undergo emergency surgery after a match in Monterrey, Mexico for AAA. There is no word on what happened to Kid or how long he will be out of action.

Opinion: That’s quite the serious situation and something you never want to hear about. I’m not sure what happened to Kid and hopefully he is able to heal up faster than expected and..

NXT LVL Up Results – October 21, 2022

NXT LVL Up
Date: October 21, 2022
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Sudu Shah, Byron Saxton
It’s the second week of the Saxton Era and that means…well very little really, as Saxton isn’t as well versed as Nigel McGuinness and not quite as good of a commentator as him either. That more or less leaves the wrestling to carry things and that is a hit or miss bet around here at best. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Ikemen Jiro vs. Myles Borne Borne grabs a headlock to start but gets reversed into a cravate. Another headlock slows Jiro down but Borne hurts his knee on a leapfrog. Jiro is right on that knee with a leglock sending Borne over to the rope. The half crab has Borne in more trouble until he crawls over to the rope. The jacket punch rocks Borne but the reverses the Ikemen Slash into a small package for the pin at 5:20.
Result: Myles Borne b. Ikemen Jiro – Small package (5:20)

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Bringing Back Classic Pay Per View To Replace Annual Event

Welcome home (kind of). There are all kinds of events on the WWE calendar with some of them being built around one concept. Several of those shows have been presented for a very long time and that is the kind of thing that can leave fans looking forward to them every year. Now WWE has announced that another show is on its way back to North America next year.
WWE has announced that Elimination Chamber will be taking place on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. This will mark the return of the show to North America, as the 2022 edition took place in Saudi Arabia. In addition, according to Xero News, this will be the final Elimination Chamber event, as No Way Out will be returning in 2024. This comes amid rumors of WWE getting rid of several gimmick themed shows.
The Elimination Chamber in 2023 will be the last one.
