AEW’s Television Future Could Be Very Promising

That’s a good sign. AEW has come a very long way in a rather short amount of time. The company has only been around for about three and a half years but it is already the second biggest wrestling promotion in the United States. That is in part due to its very strong television presence, and now the agreement that keeps them on the air may be getting even bigger.
According to Fightful Select, a source at Warner Brothers Discovery would be “shocked” if AEW does not get a new television deal with the company, but also with a big increase in the rights fee. Warner Brothers Discovery has worked closely with AEW and 2022 was seen as a rebound year for wrestling interest, which has sparked a good relationship. AEW’s current deal expires at the end of 2023.
Opinion: That is great to hear, as AEW getting more money and having more ability to move around and try new things is one of the best things that could happen to them. The company needs more money to help fund various things and a rights..

Good For Them! WWE Personality Announces His Wife Is Expecting First Child

That’s pretty awesome. There are all kinds of people in the wrestling world and all of them have lives going on outside of the ring that we rarely see. They have the same kind of lives that we do, including some things that can be rather positive to hear. Now another WWE personality has some more great news and is sharing his family’s announcement with the world.
WWE broadcaster Pat McAfee and his wife Samantha have announced that they are expecting their first child in may. Samantha revealed that she has lost two pregnancies in the past and this one was conceived via IVF. Pat thanked everyone who has helped them through the rough times to get to this point, including friends and family. Pat is currently on hiatus from his job as SmackDown commentator and is expected back after college football season ends.
After about 150 shots, a surgery, a transfer, countless blood tests, waiting on embryos, genetic testing, hoping for a big fat positive on a pee stick. So much support from family..

Fare Thee Well: Former WWE Star Officially Announces Retirement

It has to end at some point. Wrestlers have an interesting situation with retiring. While more mainstream athletes are able to hang it up at the end of a season, wrestlers have to pick and choose after an individual match. A lot of wrestlers have some trouble walking away, but now a former WWE star has made the decision and seems to be happy with what she is doing.
Former WWE and Impact Wrestling star Taryn Terrell, also known as Tiffany during her time in WWE, has announced via her Instagram that she is retiring from wrestling. Terrell said that she was happy with her most recent run in the NWA, where she wanted to feel the rush of getting in the ring again. Terrell also mentioned that she is continuing with her stunt work. The NWA has also posted a message saying that Terrell will be missed. Terrell, 36, debuted in 2007 and is a former Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion.

Road Dogg On Bret Hart: “I Don’t Think Bret Was That Great Of A Wrestler”

That’s an interesting take. There are a lot of different styles of wrestling, some of which can be on opposite sides of the spectrum. A wrestler might be a brawler, a grappler, a technician, a high flier or some combination of styles mixed together. You know one of the greats when you see one, but it turns out that one legend does not think so highly of another legendary name.
During the latest edition of his Oh You Didn’t Know podcast, Road Dogg spoke about the Montreal Screwjob, featuring Bret Hart. Dogg said that he never got what the big deal was with Hart as a performer. While Dogg agreed that Hart was a much better wrestler, Dogg felt that he was a better sports entertainer than Hart and that he feels that is where the money is. Dogg went on to say that he did not mean any disrespect but he did not think Hart was that great of a wrestler. Here are some of the comments, with transcription courtesy of Wrestlingnews.co:

Triple Shot: Three Big New Matches Added To AEW Full Gear Card

The card gets bigger. AEW does not have quite the same pay per view schedule as WWE. Instead of a major event every month, AEW presents one every three months or so. While there are a few other shows, the company is built around four major events. We are less than two weeks away from the next offering, and now we know a lot more about what is coming on the show.
Three more matches were added to AEW Full Gear this week on Dynamite. First up, Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal will team up against Darby Allin and Sting, following Jarrett and Lethal attacking Allin the previous week. Second, Saraya will return to the ring for the first time in nearly five years to face Britt Baker. Finally, Jade Cargill will defend her TBS Title against Nyla Rose, who has stolen the title belt. Full Gear takes place on November 19.
Opinion: This is the kind of night that Full Gear needed, as the card went from five matches to eight in two hours. That should be quite the boost for the show, which now feels like..

One More Down: WWE Appears To Officially Retire Championship

It was nice while it lasted. There have been a lot of titles over the years in Wwe and that is still the case to this day. The company has quite a few championships between its three main brands, some of which have some unique rules behind them. In a rare move though, WWE has gotten rid of one of the championships after it had not been used very often in recent months.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Nikki Cross defeated Dana Brooke to become the new 24/7 Title, only to throw the title away later in the night. Now the WWE Superstars page is saying that the title’s history runs from 2019 – 2022 rather than “present”. While not confirmed, this would suggest that the title has been retired and will not be returning for the time being.
Opinion: I don’t think this is the biggest surprise as the title was literally thrown away (or at least close to it, as Cross missed the trash can) a few days ago. The title has not exactly been active in recent months and it makes sense to just drop the th..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Bringing Back Classic Show With A Twist

It’s worth looking at again. There are a lot of recurring ideas throughout the history of WWE and some of them are around more often than others. WWE often adds a prize to the competition, usually in the form of a title or a shot at a title down the line. It can be a lot of fun to hear about one of those ideas coming back and now WWE seems set to bring back another of them.
According to WrestleVotes by way of GiveMeSport, WWE is considering bringing back King Of The Ring as a stand alone event in 2023. That would mean that the entire tournament would take place in one night, with no matches taking place on regular television, as was the case in the original pay per view versions. There is no word on if the Queen’s Crown Tournament would continue as well.
Opinion: King Of The Ring is one of the few WWE shows that goes away for a long time but then coems back to some pretty solid fanfare. I like the idea of the show, but I don’t know about having it be a full on event. Maybe WWE can ma..

AEW Dynamite Results – November 9, 2022

Dynamite
Date: November 9, 2022
Location: Aggaris Arena, Boston, Massachusetts
Commentators: Excalibur, Taz, Tony Schiavone
We are just over a week away from Full Gear and the card could use some help. So far the main matches are a four way for the Ring Of Honor World Title and MJF challenging Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title. Other than that we a few title matches and the finals of a tournament that hasn’t started yet. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Gunn Club/Swerve In Our Glory vs. FTR/Acclaimed Billy Gunn storms the ring before the bell but gets ejected for jumping Swerve. We settle down to Wheeler hammering on Swerve in the corner as the fans are rather pleased with the goings on. The good guys take turns on Swerve, including the scissoring from the Acclaimed, as everything breaks down, with the four villains getting punches rained down in the corner.
We take a break and come back with Harwood suplexing his way out of trouble and avoiding a splash in the corner. The hot t..

Interesting Name And Scenario Floated To Take Down Roman Reigns

That would be a different way to go. Roman Reigns has dominated WWE for over two years as part of one of the longest World Title reigns in company history. Reigns has dispatched one challenger after another and there is nothing to suggest that he is going to be slowing down anytime soon. Now a wrestling legend has an idea for a pretty unique challenger who could give Reigns trouble.
During a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, former WWE and ECW star Tommy Dreamer spoke about Gunther defeating Rey Mysterio to retain the Intercontinental Title last week on SmackDown. Dreamer went on to suggest that Gunther be the man to dethrone Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania. There is no word on if WWE is considering going in this direction.
Opinion: While I don’t know about Gunther being the one to take the title from Reigns, a Gunther vs. Reigns match would certainly be worth looking at. Reigns rarely meets someone who can match if not exceed him in size and impact a..

38 Year Old Former WWE Star Wants To Return To WWE After 15 Year Break

So she’s in. There have been a lot of returns to WWE in recent months with names coming from out of nowhere after some rather long hiatuses. Seeing these stars come back has been quite the game changer for WWE as it leaves fans wondering who might be back next. Now another former WWE star is throwing her name out there for what would be one heck of a surprise return.
In a new interview with Just Alyx, former WWE star Kristal Marshall said that she would love to make a WWE return, even if it is just for one more match. While Marshall, 38, has not wrestled since since 2013, she said that she is in the best shape of her life. There is no word on if WWE is interested in bringing Marshall back. Marshall worked for WWE from 2005-2007 as a wrestler and backstage interviewer before appearing for Impact Wrestling in 2009-2010.
Opinion: I don’t know if I can see WWE bringing Marshall back in, even for a one off match, but there is something interesting about the fact that WWE has brought in so..

WWE Has A Special Reason For Running WarGames At Survivor Series

That’s a good reason. We are less than a month away from this year’s Survivor Series, which will feature the first ever WarGames matches in WWE history. While the company has presented WarGames matches in NXT, they have never been held between main roster stars. That is quite the change of pace and it turns out there is a very unique reason for the matches taking place.
According to Bryan Alvarez’s Super Followers Twitter feed by way of Wrestlingnews.co, WWE is planning “craziness” during the WarGames matches because WWE needs some new highlight footage. WWE’s previous WarGames matches feature several wrestlers who are no longer in the company. There are two WarGames matches scheduled, with one each involving men and women.
Per Bryan Alvarez, expect “craziness” at WarGames because they need footage for video packages. The video footage they have is from NXT and most of the people are no longer in WWE.

WRESTLING RUMORS: Update On John Cena’s Return To WWE

He’s a big deal. There have been very few wrestlers in history who have reached the level of John Cena. Over the years, Cena has become one of the biggest stars in all of wrestling and while he is still mostly retired from the ring, it still means a lot when he does wrestle. The question is when that will take place again, and now we might have quite the clue about the answer.
According to WrestleVotes in an interview with GiveMeSport, Cena “should” be wrestling at WrestleMania 39 on April 1 or 2 2023 in Inglewood, California. There is no word on when Cena will be returning to WWE TV or if he will be wrestling before then. Part of the reason for the match is reportedly Cena wanting to be “the next Rock”, hence wrestling near Hollywood at WrestleMania 39.
Opinion: This isn’t the biggest surprise as Cena is someone who is likely going to wrestle on just about every major show WWE presents, with WrestleMania near Los Angeles being one of the most obvious options. There are very few name..
