How Big E.’s Injury Changed WWE’s Plans This Week

They weren’t done yet. A wrestling show can cover a lot of ground in just a few years. That is the kind of thing that makes fans want to pay their money to come and see the event, but sometimes you need a little more than just the main show. If you can watch the same thing from home, there needs to be some incentive to come watch in person. That was the case again this week.

This week’s SmackDown featured a dark match both before and after the show went off the air. According to Fightful Select, the pre-show dark match saw Xia Li defeat Shotzi. The post show dark match was originally planned to see Big E. and Kofi Kingston team up with Drew McIntyre to face Sami Zayn, Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss. Due to Big E.’s injury, McIntyre defeated Austin Theory instead. Both McIntyre and Theory appeared on the show but neither had a match.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that can make for some interesting situations. You don’t know who you might get to see at a show like this and the main event was at least something fresh. It might not be the biggest match possible, but there is a special feeling to seeing something that no one else gets to watch. While its creative might not be the best at the moment, there is some amazing talent in WWE and that was on display in a situation like this.
