How AEW Made $10 Million In One Night
I’d think that’s a success. The wrestling world has changed a lot in the last few years as the rise of streaming content has made more wrestling available than ever before. Fans can see so much content these days that it is impossible to see everything. That means it has to be even more impressive to make fans pay good money for it. It seems that was the case last year in a much bigger way than expected.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW All Out 2021 earned 205,000 pay per view buys, breaking the previous record by 41%. The show brought in over $10 million in revenue, which is the largest non-WWE show since 1999. The event took place on September 5, 2021 and featured the debuts of Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole, plus the in-ring return of CM Punk after a seven and a half year absence.
Opinion: That’s a lot of money and there is no other way to look at it, which makes this all the more impressive for AEW. The company presented a major show and a lot of people were willing to pay out the cost to see it. I know AEW might not be everyone’s taste in wrestling, but they are doing well and that is going to be a good thing for both the wrestling industry as well as the fans.
