MJF Says That His Character is Who He is in Real Life

December 12, 2022 • Admin

AEW World Heavyweight Champion MJF was recently interviewed by TODAY and discussed a number of topics. Among them was the character that he plays on television, being a Jewish athlete, his future in pro wrestling, and more. Below are some highlights from the interview: On the character that MJF plays compared to real life: “This is me 100% of the time, 365 days a year. It doesn’t change. You can ask people in my industry — and people have — and then fans are like, ‘Oh, these other people are just keeping up the ruse.’ This is me,” he says. On being a Jewish athlete: “How much of that is deep-rooted in antisemitism and how much of that is deep-rooted in jealousy and wishing that these people were in the position I’m in? I don’t know. But what I do know is it doesn’t make it OK,” he says. “It’s just very funny to me that now all of a sudden the conversations being started because Kanye West decided to speak out on the underbelly of society — antisemitism has always been there, alwa..

That’s The Plan: Details On How NXT Stars Are Scouted For Main Roster Callups

December 12, 2022 • Admin

They have a plan for that. With so many wrestlers under the WWE banner, it can be quite the trick to keep track of them all. WWE has put together something of a conveyor belt of stars, with NXT names being promoted to the main roster. The company has it down to something of a science and now we know a lot more about what kind of process they have put together. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Keep It Short: Matt Hardy Reveals How Discussed World Title Reign Might Have Gone Fightful Select has published a new report on how WWE handles NXT callups to the main roster. In recent months, WWE has brought in several NXT stars for appearances on Main Event. This has been done as a way to see what wrestlers look like outside of the Performance Center and does not necessarily mean it is a promotion. Some of the current names being considered for a full time call up are Cameron Grimes and Von Wagner, both of whom have appeared on Main Event. There should also be a more “slow and steady” progression from ..

Keep It Short: Matt Hardy Reveals How Discussed World Title Reign Might Have Gone

December 12, 2022 • Admin

That would have been different. There are all kinds of accomplishments in the wrestling world but being the World Champion is at the top of the list. It makes you the biggest star in a promotion and often the focal point of everything going on. Rarely will a wrestler turn down the chance to hold the company’s top title, but that was the case with a prominent star when he had the shot. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: 45 Year Old WWE Star Wrestles Final Match To End 25 Year Career During the most recent edition of his The Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy spoke about his Broken Matt run in Impact Wrestling. Hardy revealed that had he and his brother Jeff re-signed with the company, there had been a discussion of Matt having another World Title reign. Matt felt that if he did win the title, he should not have had it long as Broken Matt was not someone who needed titles. After a few weeks, Matt had hoped to drop the title to Eli Drake, who would go on to become World Champion...

WATCH: 45 Year Old WWE Star Wrestles Final Match To End 25 Year Career

December 12, 2022 • Admin

That’s how you go out. Wrestlers retiring can be a little tricky as they can always be asked to wrestle one more time. There is always the chance that someone could come back and get in the ring, but occasionally you will see someone get to wrestle their last match and hang up their boots for good. That was the case this weekend as a 20+ year career came to an end in a special way. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: NXT Star Returning After Four Month Absence At New Year’s Evil Earlier this year, WWE producer Jamie Noble, 45, announced that he would be wrestling one final match in his home state of West Virginia to end his in-ring career. The match took place this weekend at a WWE live event in Charleston, West Virginia, featuring Noble teaming with the Brawling Brutes and Braun Strowman to defeat the Bloodline, with Noble scoring the fall on Sami Zayn. This was Noble’s first match since June 2015 and ends his career, which began in 1997. It was a special night. Check out Nobl..

Welcome back? There are all kinds of wrestlers on the NXT roster and some of them do not get the most television time. It can mean something to see them show up again after an absence, which can come for one reason or another. There’s the reveal. There are so many stories that take place during any given week of WWE programming that it can be difficult to keep track of all of them. That can be the case for the fans as well as the company itself, as there are times when stories are left hanging with no resolution. Now we know where something was going to go but WWE never actually did anything about it. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: No More: Sasha Banks Reportedly “Done” With WWE, What Caused The Split On the July 4, 2016 edition of Monday Night Raw, a food fight broke out at the 4th of July backstage party. Kevin Owens was the only person who did not get covered in food during the fight, but at the end of the segment, an unseen person hit him with a pie. The person who threw the pie has never been revealed on WWE television. Following the segment, several WWE videos attempted to figure out who did it, with no success. However, according to the Road Dogg on his Oh…You Didn’t Know podcast, Vince McMahon was going to..

Another one for the history books. This past Sunday at NXT Deadline, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods captured the NXT tag team championships by defeating Pretty Deadly. No More: Sasha Banks Reportedly “Done” With WWE, What Caused The Split

December 11, 2022 • Admin

That’s a game changer. There have been all kinds of wrestling stories this year and one of the most intriguing has been that of Sasha Banks and Naomi walking out on WWE. The two have not appeared on WWE TV since May and there is no word on when the two might be returning. Now though, we have an update on one of them that suggests that she will not be back at all. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Pair Em Up: 74 Year Old WWE Legend Offers To Mentor SmackDown Star Earlier this week, a report emerged that Banks would be appearing at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 next month. The two sides are said to be very far apart on money and Banks’ current contract is expected to expire at the end of the year. Maybe Not? Conflicting Reports On Reason Behind Miro’s AEW Absence

December 11, 2022 • Admin

He said something else. With such a large roster, a wrestler getting to appear on AEW television can be a special treat. There are several weeks where a wrestler might not get to appear, but if that happens too often, it can be come a problem in their career. That is becoming the situation for a certain AEW star, but it seems that there are differing opinions on why he has been missing. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Gold Day: Six New Champions Crowned Over Two Different Events Miro has only wrestled four times this year, with his most recent match taking place in September. Earlier this week a report from Fightful Select surfaced saying that Miro was ready to go but that AEW had nothing creatively for him. He is still expected to return soon and has been talking to AEW about ideas. Miro has been a force in AEW. Check out some of his moments th..

Pair Em Up: 74 Year Old WWE Legend Offers To Mentor SmackDown Star

December 11, 2022 • Admin

Generations gap. There have been all kinds of stars throughout WWE’s history, though only a few of them have been able to become legends. Those stars are some of the most well remembered names in wrestling history and they will occasionally pop up here and there. Sometimes you will see them get together with a similar modern star and that is the idea that has been pitched again. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Gold Day: Six New Champions Crowned Over Two Different Events Over the last two weeks, vignettes have aired on SmackDown, showing Lacey Evans training with the United States Marine Corps. Evans, a former member of the Corps, has spoken about wanting to get back to basics. This led to a fan asking WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter if he would train her. In response, Slaughter said that he would love to, but said that Evans would have to make it through Camp Slaughter. Evans then sent out a tweet of her own, asking where she reported in. There is nothing to suggest that WWE will be having ..

Ring Of Honor Final Battle 2022 Results

December 11, 2022 • Admin

Final Battle 2022 Date: December 10, 2022 Location: College Park Center, Arlington, Texas Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman It’s the third or so Ring Of Honor event of the year, assuming you don’t count a good chunk of the Rampages from earlier this year. The main event of the show is (probably) Chris Jericho defending the Ring Of Honor World Title against Claudio Castagnoli, with a bonus feature of FTR vs. the Briscoes in a dog collar match for FTR’s Tag Team Titles. Let’s get to it. Zero Hour: Mascara Dorada vs. Jeff Cobb Dorada (better known as Gran Metalik) gets nowhere off a shoulder so a springboard flip is enough to put Cobb on the floor. The dive is pulled out of the air though and Cobb posts him hard to take over. Back in and Cobb stands on his back for a surfing pose, followed by a heck of a shot to the face for two. Cobb misses a charge into the corner though and Dorada sends him outside again, this time for the big flip dive. Back in again and a rope walk sent..

NXT Deadline Results

December 11, 2022 • Admin

Deadline Date: December 10, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Booker T., Vic Joseph What we have here is something of a concept show, as two of the five announced matches are Iron Survivor Challenges. Those are going to take up the better part of an hour between the two of them, even though they’re just #1 contenders matches. We also have a pair of title matches and a grudge match to give it that NXT feel though, so let’s get to it. The opening video is about the value of time, including in the Iron Survivor Challenges. Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge So we have five entrants and a twenty five minute time limit. Two people start things off and another enters every five minutes. You get a point for a fall (nothing to suggest you can lose points) and whomever you beat goes to a penalty box for a minute and a half. The most points in twenty five minutes wins and is the new #1 contender. Roxanne Perez is in at #1 and Zoey Stark is in at #2 and we h..

Gold Day: Six New Champions Crowned Over Two Different Events

December 11, 2022 • Admin

Hand them over. Titles are one of the most important concepts in all of wrestling. They represent the best and often most talented stars in the promotion and are often the main focal points. It can mean a lot when a title changes hands and there are nights when several of them change hands during the same show. That was the case this weekend, with a special double shot. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Better Than Nothing? Tony Khan Announces Upcoming Weekly Ring Of Honor Series There were two major events held on Saturday, with Ring Of Honor Final Battle and NXT Deadline. Better Than Nothing? Tony Khan Announces Upcoming Weekly Ring Of Honor Series

December 11, 2022 • Admin

It’s something. One of the more interesting wrestling stories of the year has been the roller coaster that is Ring Of Honor. After being shut down for several months to start the year, the promotion was purchased by AEW owner Tony Khan and somewhat relaunched on AEW television. However, Ring Of Honor did not have any kind of distribution of its own. Now things have changed in a big way. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: To The Other Side: Former NXT Champion Makes Surprise AEW Rampage Appearance During this weekend’s post Final Battle media scrum, Khan announced that Ring Of Honor will have its weekly television show on the HonorClub streaming service, which relaunched earlier this week. The service costs $9.99 a month and includes all of the Ring Of Honor video library. There is no specific date on when the show will launch, but Khan said an announcement was coming after the Los Angeles and Seattle shows. Khan also said that there will be less of a focus on Ring Of Honor on AEW programming. T..

Timing! Update On John Cena’s WrestleMania 39 Prospects

December 10, 2022 • Admin

It might be a bit. We are closing in on the end of the year and in WWE, that means it is time to start the Road To WrestleMania. Awkward Confession: Sasha Banks Revealed Childhood Crush On Current SmackDown Star

December 10, 2022 • Admin

That could make things awkward. Wrestling has changed quite a bit in the last few decades, as WWE has allowed wrestlers to stay in one place for a lot longer than they might have back in the territory days. That means wrestlers are going to be seen for a good while, which in this case led to a rather unique situation between two wrestlers, one of whom is a good bit older. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Double Trouble: Roman Reigns And Drew McIntyre Suffer Same Injury In Same Match According to the Sportster, Sasha Banks was interviewed by MTV’s Total Request Live in 2018 and revealed that when she was a child, she had a crush on SmackDown’s Sheamus. Banks, 14 years younger than Sheamus, said that she thought Sheamus was cute when she was a child. Sheamus is currently a SmackDown star while Banks has been absent from WWE since walking out on the company in May. This could have been an interesting pair. Ring Of Honor Final Battle 2022 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

December 10, 2022 • Admin

It’s time to wrap up the Ring Of Honor year with its third event, as Final Battle closes us out. As you might expect, this is mainly going to be about AEW stars as Ring Of Honor is less a promotion than a really big and loosely connected angle on AEW TV at the moment. We have a double main event of FTR defending the Tag Team Titles against the Briscoes in a double dog collar match, plus Claudio Castagnoli challenging Chris Jericho for the Ring Of honor World Title. Yeah that should work. Let’s get to it. Zero Hour: Jericho Appreciation Society vs. Shinobi Shadow Squad This is one of the several added matches to flesh out the card, or in this case the card that happens before the card. The Squad is one of those teams who pops up all the time in Ring Of Honor but rarely gets to do anything important. In other words, they are perfect to face a pair of goofs like Menard and Parker in a match with absolutely nothing at stake in a spot like this. In what is probably going to be a trend, I’..

REVIEW: ROH Best In The World 2018: They’re Not Far Off

December 10, 2022 • Admin

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Best in the World 2018 Date: June 29, 2018 Location: UMBC Event Center, Cantonsville, Maryland Commentators: Colt Cabana, Ian Riccaboni It’s pay per view time and even though I’ve already seen the next TV show, none of that matters as we have a few weeks to spare because of Ring of Honor’s wacky TV schedule. The main event here is a triple threat between World Champion Dalton Castle, Cody and Marty Scurll but the real highlight should be the Young Bucks challenging the Briscoes for the Tag Team Titles..

AEW Rampage Results – December 9, 2022

December 10, 2022 • Admin

Rampage Date: December 9, 2022 Location: H-E-B Center, Cedar Park, Texas Commentators: Jim Ross, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone We are a day away from Ring Of Honor Final Battle and odds are we are going to be seeing some of the very last build to the show. Other than that we have what should be a heck of a match between Konosuke Takeshita vs. Jon Moxley and Orange Cassidy defending the All-Atlantic Title against a mystery challenger. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jon Moxley vs. Konosuke Takeshita Moxley takes him down by the arm to start before it’s time to stand and trade chops. With that not working, Moxley bites Takeshita’s head in the corner and then chops some more. With Don Callis watching, Takeshita sends him outside and over the barricade as we take a break. Back with Moxley (bleeding) getting two off a piledriver but getting caught with a heck of a clothesline. Takeshita sends him to the apron, setting up a slingshot DDT for two back inside. What looked like a Blue Thunde..
