Dream On The Card. NXT Talent To Appear For EVOLVE Next Month

August 31, 2018 • Admin

I must be in a dream. WWE is the undisputed king of professional wrestling but there are other promotions out there with some outstanding talent. Just because a promotion is smaller doesn’t mean that they don’t have something worth seeing and WWE knows that some of these people are around. Now what’s going to happen when a person from these places start getting together? As announced on WWE.com, Velveteen Dream will be working for EVOLVE for two shows next month. Dream will be wrestling on September 7 at EVOLVE 112 in Joppa, Maryland against Austin Theory and September 8 at EVOLVE 113 in Queens, New York against Darby Allin. The matches will only be for the live crowd and will not be broadcast on the pay per views. WWE has worked with EVOLVE before, with Adam Cole wrestling in June. This is what’s waiting for EVOLVE. [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I see nothing wrong with any of this. WWE gets to showcase some of their talent in front of a new audience who migh..

It’s Like Summer Vacation. Check Out This Behind The Scenes Footage From Summerslam

August 31, 2018 • Admin

Just in case you didn’t see enough of it. In the vein of every major WWE show anymore (outside of WrestleMania), this year’s Summerslam pay per view was a four hour event with two hours of a Kickoff Show. That’s a very long time to watch any wrestling event and WWE never seems to mind. There’s so much content to watch but now that we’re nearly two weeks removed, we have something extra to see. It’s a different way of looking at the show. [This post contains video, click to play] WWE has posted a new video of behind the scenes footage from this year’s Summerslam event. The video is exactly what it sounds like with a look at some of the bigger name stars arriving and getting ready for their matches, including spending time with their families. AJ Styles is prominently featured as his wife and daughter were featured on the show during his match. In case you didn’t get enough of it, here are this year’s Summerslam results. Opinion: This is one of the rare things that always works. Wr..

Impact Wrestling Live Coverage And Results – August 30, 2018

August 30, 2018 • Admin

Impact Wrestling Date: August 30, 2018 Location: Rebel Sports Complex, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Commentators: Josh Matthews, Don Callis Tonight is the Redefined show, which could mean several things. We’ll be getting a few title matches, including Su Yung defending the Knockouts Title against Tessa Blanchard and Allie, along with Fenix challenging for the X-Division Title. I’m sure there will be some more with Eddie Edwards/Moose vs. Austin Aries/Killer Kross as well. Let’s get to it. Here are last week’s results if you need a recap. We open with a recap of the two title matches plus the Edwards vs. Aries feud. Opening sequence. X-Division Title: Brian Cage vs. Fenix Fenix is defending and has Pentagon Jr. with him. Some early flips keep Fenix away from Cage until a drop toehold sets up a 619 from the champ. Fenix tries some springboards but gets his head taken off with a clothesline. Another springboard is broken up and a delayed apron superplex has Fenix in even more trouble. F..

Main Event Results – August 30, 2018

August 30, 2018 • Admin

Main Event Date: August 31, 2018 Location: Scotiabank Arena, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Commentators: Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness, Percy Watson We’ll wrap up Canada week here with the highlight package show. This week has been better than most for WWE as the followup to Summerslam has actually been pretty strong. The promos and stories have all been good and we’ve even had some nice matches to go with them. Hopefully the short form versions are good as well. Let’s get to it. Here are last week’s results if you need a recap. Opening sequence. No Way Jose vs. Tyler Breeze Breeze armdrags him down to start and lays on the top, only to have Jose dance at him in return. Some right hands in the corner have Breeze in trouble so he takes out the knee to put Jose down. A half crab stays on the knee until Jose kicks him to the floor. That’s broken up after Breeze pulls him back to the middle but a dropkick to the knee makes things even worse. Jose is fine enough to catapult him into the corne..

It Had To End Sometime. AJ Styles Just Broke A Thirteen Year Old Record.

August 16, 2018 • Admin

A record is made to be broken. Last November, AJ Styles won the WWE Championship from Jinder Mahal on an episode of SmackDown Live from England. Not only was this the first time the title had changed hands in England and the first time in over fourteen years that the title had changed hands on SmackDown, but it’s a reign that is still going to this day. That’s a record in its own right. As of Wednesday, Styles is now the longest reigning champion in SmackDown Live history, with a title reign lasting 281 days. This breaks John Bradshaw Layfield’s record, which he set during his 2004-2005 reign and held it ever since. Styles’ reign is now the thirteenth longest in WWE Championship history. Should he make it through Summerslam, he would likely move up to eleventh all time, which he would reach on September 3. Every record has to start somewhere. [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I love stats like these and it’s one of the more interesting ones as Styles could keep go..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – August 15, 2018

August 16, 2018 • Admin

NXT Date: August 15, 2018 Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Percy Watson, Mauro Ranallo It’s the go home show for Takeover: Brooklyn and we now have a new main event of NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa vs. Johnny Gargano in a Last Man Standing match. The big question now is who attacked Aleister Black, who was originally in the match but was found unconscious in the parking lot last week. Odds are that one is going to take some time to find out though so let’s get to it. In Memory Of Jim Neidhart. We open with a recap of the NXT Title situation, including a look at Black being laid out. Street Profits vs. The Mighty The fans sound like they’re chanting MIGHTY JOBBERS. Miller and Ford start things off with the former taking over off some chops in the corner. Ford jumps over him though and it’s off to Dawkins to run Thorn over. A belly to back suplex into a moonsault (Black Panther Splash) sets up the old World’s Greatest Tag Team jump ov..

Rumor: Backstage Meeting Taking Place Between Brock Lesnar And WWE Before Summerslam

August 15, 2018 • Admin

You mean they still don’t know? We’re almost to Summerslam on Sunday and that should mean that most everything is ready. There isn’t a lot of time left to add anything new as both the final Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live have aired. Therefore, it’s reasonable to believe that the card is set. However, it seems that there might be something up in the air backstage and it’s a pretty big deal. According to Barnburner’s Fired Up podcast by way of Ringsidenews.com, there is a backstage meeting planned between WWE and Brock Lesnar before Summerslam goes on the air. There aren’t any specifics on what the meeting will be about, but there is a possibility that it will result in Lesnar retaining the title and working with both the WWF and UFC going forward. Here are the quotes: “Apparently Sunday around 4 o’clock, Brock Lesnar will have a closed-door meeting with the head honchos, maybe Stephanie, Triple H, Vince, or whatever. I don’t know what that meeting’s about. But, if he retains the ..

Backstage News On What WWE Has Planned For Roman Reigns Vs. Brock Lesnar

August 15, 2018 • Admin

Shock and awe shock and awe. We’re coming up on Summerslam 2018 and the featured match on the show will be Universal Champion Brock Lesnar defending against Roman Reigns. This is a match that hasn’t gotten the strongest reaction from the fans so something special will be needed in order to get a more positive reaction. It turns out that WWE has a plan, and then a second option. According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is considering two paths for the Reigns vs. Lesnar match at Summerslam. One option would be to have the match be “rather short” and the other is a long match. There are no time ranges given for the two matches or speculation on who will be leaving with the title. This is the second year in a row where Reigns vs. Lesnar will main event Summerslam, although the previous version was in a four way match. Here are Alvarez’s comments courtesy of Sportskeeda.com: “Right now there are apparently two ideas for the Lesnar/Roman match. One of them is a..

Some Big Matches And Names Already Announced For SmackDown Live #1000

August 15, 2018 • Admin

Nineteen years is a long time. Back in August 1999, SmackDown debuted as the official second show of WWE, replacing Sunday Night Heat as the second major television program. The show is still going strong in 2018 and next year it will be moving to the FOX Network to really turn it into something special. It’s also coming up on a big time milestone and it looks like WWE is pulling out all the stops. According to the Capital One Center’s website, the 1000th episode of SmackDown Live will be taking place at the arena October 16. The arena has also announced three matches and a host of names making appearances. Already announced for the show are AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe in a WWE Championship match (neither is designated as champion), Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz and Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy. Also announced as appearing are the Undertaker, Shinsuke Nakamura, the Bludgeon Brothers and Carmella. Check out how Raw 1000 started out. Rumor: Did WWE Pit Colt Cabana Against CM Punk?

August 15, 2018 • Admin

I mean….really? Last week news broke that Colt Cabana was suing CM Punk over legal fees from their trial against WWE doctor Chris Amman. The issue seemed to see the end of their long running friendship, which was one of the most well known in wrestling today. However, as bad as it would be to have the two of them split, there may be one entity that is very happy with the news: the WWE. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, there is a chance that WWE brought Cabana into the lawsuit in the hopes that he and Punk would have issues during the trial. If that was the plan, it seems to have worked as Cabana and Punk did in fact split, causing the lawsuit that Cabana filed against him. The idea was to have Punk lose in the end, with Cabana playing a role in causing the issues. WWE wasn’t concerned with Cabana and its main target was always Punk. Here’s part of where it all started. [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I have no idea if this is true or not, b..

What Happened Before And After This Week’s SmackDown Live?

August 15, 2018 • Admin

Double your SmackDown pleasure. Every week, you’re almost guaranteed to see some good dark matches from WWE. While some of them are going to be repetitive, they’re still matches that are worth seeing at least once. It helps if the match is a solid pairing in the first place, but there is also fun to be had in a match that you haven’t seen before. Both were true in this week’s offerings. Make sure to check out what happened between the dark matches with our full SmackDown Live results. According to Wrestlinginc.com, there was a match both before and after this week’s SmackDown Live and 205 Live tapings. Before the show went on the air, the Usos defeated the Bar in a rematch from two weeks ago during the Tag Team Title Tournament, which the Bar won. After the show was over, AJ Styles teamed up with Luke Gallows/Karl Anderson to defeat Samoa Joe/Randy Orton/Shinsuke Nakamura when Styles hit a Styles Clash on Nakamura after about three and a half minutes. Here’s the original first match..

Which Injured WWE Superstar May Be Looking At Surgery?

August 15, 2018 • Admin

No one said it was sin danger. You never know when you might see a wrestler get injured. It could come at any time in a match, or it could be the result of years of built up damage to the body. At some point it happens to almost everyone and that can throw a wrench into the plans. Even if it’s someone who doesn’t get much time on TV, that’s still one less person to put on house shows, which seems to be the case at the moment. According to PWInsider.com by way of 411mania.com, Sin Cara has posted on Instagram that he is in Birmingham, Alabama to deal with some kind of an injury which may require surger. At the moment, Sin Cara hasn’t provided any kind of details on what the nature of the injury may be. Sin Cara has been wrestling recently, with his most recent match coming at a SmackDown Live house show on August 5. He looks healthy here: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: There aren’t many details to Sin Cara’s status but hopefully it’s not a serious injury. I know..

SmackDown Live Coverage And Results – August 14, 2018

August 14, 2018 • Admin

Smackdown Date: August 14, 2018 Location: Bon Secours Wellness Arena, Greenville, South Carolina Commentators: Tom Phillips, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton It’s the final show before Summerslam and there isn’t much to do this time around. Sunday is set up and unless they add one more match to the card, which is entirely possible around here, I wouldn’t get my hopes up on much happening tonight. Hopefully the promos are good enough to carry things. Let’s get to it. Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Carmella all come to the ring to open things up. Carmella isn’t happy with having to defend the title in the triple threat match but she’s so awesome that it doesn’t matter. Becky doesn’t have a chance now and should probably go back to being a clown, because it’s the one thing she does better than Charlotte. It’s true that Becky doesn’t want Charlotte in the match because she’s going to make it harder to win. Becky was losing sleep over the idea of beating up Carmella one on one but now she’s dreami..

Happy Birthday! Enjoy The Top Five Kofi Kingston Moments

August 14, 2018 • Admin

It’s a new year yes it is. Like so many other fields, wrestling has a fair share of different levels of performers. Some people are main eventers, some people are midcarders, some people make others look good, and some people are able to do all of them. That’s a rare breed, but Kofi Kingston fits the mold. WWE agrees, and that’s worthy of a career flashback. Leave the memories alone. [This post contains video, click to play] In honor of his 36th birthday, WWE has posted a video looking at the five greatest moments of Kofi Kingston’s career. The majority of these moments are from Kingston’s singles career with only one of them being from his time as part of the New Day. Kingston made his main roster debut in 2009 and has won fourteen championships over the course of his career, with seven singles and seven tag team titles. Opinion: I know a lot of fans think of New Day but Kingston had a heck of a singles career. Were it not for the mess with Randy Orton in 2009, there was almost n..

Video: Ken Anderson Tells A Bizarre Story About Randy Orton’s Sexual Behavior

August 14, 2018 • Admin

Just…why? Last week, some stories started to come out about things Randy Orton has done over the years. To put it mildly, these stories aren’t the most pleasant things in the world and there’s a good chance that nothing good is going to come out of them. It turns out that a lot of these were known in the past and since the internet is everywhere, it’s hard to get away from these stories. The boot couldn’t be reached for comments. [This post contains video, click to play] In a clip from a shoot interview filmed in 2016, Ken Anderson (Mr. Anderson/Kennedy) tells a story about Orton doing something else rather odd. Anderson talks about being alone with Orton in a locker room after everyone else had left the building. With only Anderson in the room, a naked Orton did some questionable things to Anderson’s boot. Anderson pointed out that there was no one around to find it funny, which Orton didn’t seem to mind. Here are Anderson’s comments: “One time I was in the locker room. Everyone..

Main Event Results – August 9, 2018

August 14, 2018 • Admin

Main Event Date: August 9, 2018 Location: Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, Jacksonville, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness, Percy Watson We’re coming up on Summerslam and since he was on Raw last week, there’s no Brock Lesnar to be seen this time around. There is however Roman Reigns, who I have a feeling we’ll be hearing from here. Hopefully there’s some more stuff from Smackdown though, as that show was great. Let’s get to it. Here are last week’s results if you need a recap. Opening sequence. No Way Jose vs. Curt Hawkins Jose has the Conga Line with him. Hawkins’ shoulder doesn’t do much good as Jose headlocks him and grabs an atomic drop. A shot to the ribs puts Jose on the floor and Hawkins is rather pleased. Back in and we hit the chinlock, followed by a snap suplex into the second chinlock. Hawkins misses the elbow though and Jose slugs away, followed by a fireman’s carry flapjack for two. The Pop Up right hand finishes Hawkins at 5:30. Result: No Way ..

Dean Ambrose to Betray Seth Rollins at WWE ‘SummerSlam’?

August 14, 2018 • Admin

Dean Ambrose has finally returned to WWE. The Lunatic Fringe came out on the August 13 edition of Monday Night Raw and joined Seth Rollins in a physical confrontation with Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre. The two former Shield teammates stood tall in the ring and fought side by side against the Intercontinental champion and his Scottish enforcer. Rollins is booked against Dolph for the IC title at SummerSlam on August 19 and Ambrose will be in his corner. But will Dean do the unthinkable and turn on his best friend? It seems like a long shot perhaps but the timing may be right for Ambrose to turn heel once again. Dean’s mission at SummerSlam is to bring his unique level of insanity to Seth’s corner. He can even the odds for Rollins against Ziggler and McIntyre, which is something Seth has needed for quite some time. The Kingslayer has been trying to find a way to fend off both Drew and Dolph but to no avail. Rollins wants his Intercontinental Championship back but so far, he has been ..

Video: Opening For Summerslam Released

August 14, 2018 • Admin

Let’s get it started. While a lot of fans are going to remember one specific match from a wrestling show, a lot more might remember the opening video. If there’s one thing that WWE knows how to do, it’s put together a video package that makes you want to see what they have coming up for the rest of the evening. This is an area where WWE shines and that’s what they did again this time around. And we get a sneak preview. [This post contains video, click to play] WWE has released the opening video to this year’s Summerslam six days before the show airs. The video features actor Terry Crews outside the Barclays Center (the location for Sunday’s show), talking in rhyme about how this year’s show is about achieving your dreams, no matter how high they might be. As is usually the case with WWE videos, things then shifts into a set of clips about this year’s major matches. Check out the changes to the Summerslam card announced this week. Opinion: Hiring a well known actor like Crews is a..

Video: Dean Ambrose Makes His WWE Return With A New Look

August 14, 2018 • Admin

Guess who’s back. Every now and then you get a big time return in wrestling, which is one of the coolest things you can get. The fans are almost guaranteed to react because it’s likely someone they haven’t seen in a long time and the return can change things in a big way going forward. It can be even better if not so subtle hints are dropped, which was the case this week. He looks different. [This post contains video, click to play] Earlier tonight on Monday Night Raw, Dean Ambrose made his return to WWE after being out of action since December with a triceps injury. Ambrose returned to help Seth Rollins deal with Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre, promising to be in Rollins’ corner this Sunday at Summerslam. This was Ambrose’s first active appearance on WWE TV since the December 18, 2017 episode of Monday Night Raw. Opinion: I like the new look and this is exactly where the story should have gone. Ambrose is someone who is going to make an instant impact and the fans went coconuts f..

It Just Keeps Going. Changes Made To Summerslam Card, Kickoff Show Grows

August 14, 2018 • Admin

They almost got there. With Sunday’s Summerslam card all but set, there wasn’t much room to add anything. The show already had eleven matches on the main card alone, which is pushing it even on a four hour pay per view. That being said, WWE has never seemed to mind adding in as much stuff as they can, which is why some changes were made to the Summerslam card this week on Monday Night Raw. As announced on this week’s show, the Kickoff Show will now feature three matches instead of the previously announced one. In addition to the already announced mixed tag between Rusev/Lana vs. Andrade Cien Almas/Zelina Vega, two title matches were added. Now, the show will also feature the new match of the B Team defending the Raw Tag Team Titles against the Revival and the previously announced (for the main card) Cruiserweight Title match between champion Cedric Alexander and Drew Gulak. The new card will be three Kickoff Show matches and ten regular show matches. Here’s a preview of one of the ti..
