Special Return Announced For Next Week’s Monday Night Raw

June 8, 2021 • Admin

Welcome back. There are a lot of wrestlers to come through the WWE doors over the years but there are only a handful of them who make a big impression. It can be rather fun to see, though like many other wrestlers they are going to take some time away from WWE every now and then. One of those departed wrestlers is on their way back now and we have a date for their return. During this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw, a vignette aired, announcing that Eva Marie would be returning to the show next week, June 14. This will be her first appearance on WWE TV since 2017, though it is not clear what she will be doing on the show. Eva Marie’s vignettes have aired since May, promising to bring the Eva-Lution to WWE. There have also been rumors of WWE pairing her with someone to serve as her muscle. She might make an impact. Check out what is coming back to the show: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to p..

New #1 Contenders Crowned On Monday Night Raw

June 8, 2021 • Admin

They’re up next. It is rather easy for a wrestling promotion to present a title match. All you need is someone holding a title and someone else going after it because they want to be champion for whatever reason. That is something any wrestling fan can understand as it is such a simple concept. WWE is going to be trying it again soon and now we have everyone involved. This week’s Monday Night Raw opened with a tag team battle royal, won by the Viking Raiders. As a result, the Raiders will receive a future Raw Tag Team Title shot against AJ Styles and Omos, though it was not announced when the match will take place. The other teams included the New Day, RKBro, Mace/T-Bar and John Morrison and Lince Dorado, the latter of whom wrestled as singles wrestlers because their partners are injured. The title match could be awesome. Check out the battle royal and the teams involved: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains vide..

REVIEW: Monday Night Raw – June 7, 1999: It Was HIM AUSTIN!

June 8, 2021 • Admin

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Monday Night Raw Date: June 7, 1999 Location: Fleet Center, Boston, Massachusetts Commentators: Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler We’re just one week after Undertaker beat Austin for the title with the help of both McMahons and Austin broken heart due to Owen Hart passing away earlier in the night. Other than that it’s Rock vs. HHH because this is 1999 and what else is it going to be? Oh wait apparently there’s a somewhat significant moment on here so let’s get to it. We open with a recap of Austin stunning everyone in sig..

WWE Makes Major Change To Hell In A Cell Title Match

June 8, 2021 • Admin

It does kind of fit. We are less than two weeks away from Hell In A Cell and that means the card needs to be finalized. A good chunk of it has already been set and that is great to see, but there is always a bit more room for improvement. WWE understands this and thankfully has made a change, including covering one of the most important aspects of the entire show. This week’s edition of Monday Night Raw featured a contract signing between WWE Champion Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre. Before either of them signed, Lashley’s associate MVP said that he wanted this match to be McIntyre’s final shot at Lashley. McIntyre agreed, but wanted the match to be held inside the Cell. Lashley agreed and the match was made. This will be Lashley’s first ever match inside the Cell. This could be big. Check out McIntyre in the Cell and some of their history together: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opi..

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – June 7, 2021

June 7, 2021 • Admin

Monday Night Raw Date: June 7, 2021 Location: Yuengling Center, Tampa, Florida Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton We’re less than two weeks away from Hell In A Cell and that means it is time to start finishing up the build. This includes a contract signing between Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre, which is a trope we haven’t seen in at least a few weeks. Other than that, Shayna Baszler continues her issues with an evil doll. Let’s get to it. A bunch of tag teams (and Lince Dorado, as Gran Metalik is injured) are in the ring for a #1 contenders battle royal. With that being so serious, cue AJ Styles and Omos to watch. AJ talks about how WWE is going to be back on the road next month and they are going to defend the titles against the best Raw has to offer. AJ: “And uh, WOW!” We hear about how AJ and Omos could take care of all of the teams (or just Lince Dorado, as Gran Metalik is injured), save for RKBro. AJ talks about how great Orton is but Omos uses various adje..

WWE RUMOR: Future Plans For Roman Reigns And The Usos

June 7, 2021 • Admin

Keep it going! It has been a long time since WWE has seen someone in the realm of Roman Reigns. After winning the Universal Title in August 2020, Reigns has showed no signs of slowing down and has even expanded his presence on SmackDown. That includes an alliance with his family, and now it seems that things might be sticking together even longer than expected. According to Wrestlingnews.co, WWE has long terms plans for Reigns and the Usos as a unit. The company is trying to accomplish two things at the same time, with the idea being to make Reigns into as big of a star as John Cena or the Rock, while also making Reigns and the Usos into a tighter unit. The Usos are expected to win the SmackDown Tag Team Titles and become completely aligned with Reigns by Summerslam in August. Reigns and Jey Uso have been united since late 2020 after Reigns defeated Jey in back to back pay per view Universal Title matches. Jey has ultimately moved on to become Reigns’ right hand man and main supporte..

WWE RUMOR: Vince McMahon A Fan Of Certain WWE Star

June 7, 2021 • Admin

His opinion matters. While he might not be as well received today as he has been in the past, there is no denying that Vince McMahon is still the most powerful and influential person in the wrestling industry. Anything McMahon does can make a huge difference in wrestling, with a single decision shaking up a wrestler’s career. That can be a good thing and seems to be the case again for a current WWE star. According to Wrestlingnews.co, McMahon is a supporter of Big E. and “will always find something for him to do.” This comes after Big E.’s feud with Aleister Black was abruptly canceled by Black’s sudden release. Big E. has not appeared on television since he was attacked by Black, including after Black was released from the company. There is no word on what Big E. will be doing next or when he will be appearing again. Big E. certainly has done some different stuff in his career. Check out some of his moments: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, cli..

RUMOR: WWE Draft Taking Place Earlier Than Usual This Year

June 7, 2021 • Admin

Maybe it’s time to change. There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster and at some point you need to change things up a bit. Eventually wrestlers are going to get stale doing the same things against the same people over and over so a shakeup is one of the best things that can happen. It seems that WWE understands this and they might be doing something about it soon. According to Andrew Zarian from the Mat Men Podcast, WWE may be bringing back the WWE Draft this year on Monday August 30 and Friday September 3. The Draft would see wrestlers being moved to and from Monday Night Raw and SmackDown. There is no word on whether NXT will be included in the Draft. This would be the first time that the event has been held in August or September, with the previous two editions being held in October. Hearing the WWE Draft is scheduled for 8/30 and 9/3.#WWE #WWERAW pic.twitter.com/hWIXNUqZfW — Andrew Zarian (@AndrewZarian) June 7, 2021 The Draft can mean a lot. Check out some of its better m..

WWE RUMOR: NXT Stars May Be Eva Marie’s Enforcer

June 7, 2021 • Admin

She needs the muscle. There are all kinds of ways to present a wrestler and some of them are a lot easier than others. One of the easiest is to put someone with a bodyguard to do their fighting for them. That is the kind of thing that has worked for years and still will today, which is a situation that WWE might be trying out one more time with a returning star. Last month, WWE began airing vignettes announcing that Eva Marie will be returning to WWE. She has mentioned starting the Eva-Lution, but nothing has been announced other than that. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, WWE is considering bringing in an enforcer for Eva Marie, with NXT’s Mercedes Martinez and NXT UK’s Piper Niven as the main options. There is no word on when Eva Marie will debut or when either of them would appear with her. Martinez is currently in NXT and dealing with Xia Li, though they have not wrestled a match as of yet. She has wrestled for over twenty years, with most of her career being spent ..

Likely First Time Ever Main Event For WWE Hell In A Cell

June 7, 2021 • Admin

That would be a big one. We are less than two weeks away from WWE’s Hell In A Cell pay per view and some of the card has already been announced. There are still several things that need to be taken care of though and that includes some of the more prominent title matches. Even though it has not been confirmed, we might know what one of the bigger ones will be. According to F4WOnline.com, Roman Reigns is expected to defend the Universal Title against Rey Mysterio at Hell In A Cell on June 20. This comes after Reigns attacked both Rey and his son Dominik Mysterio on last week’s SmackDown. The match has yet to be made official. Should the match be made, it would be the first time that the two have ever met in a singles match. This could be good. Check out how we got to the match and both in action: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I don’t think this is exactly the biggest surpris..

Weekend Title Change Could Impact More Than One Promotion

June 7, 2021 • Admin

That could shake things up a bit. The wrestling world has changed a lot in recent years and a lot of that has had to do with how many more options wrestling fans have. Fans today can see more wrestling than ever before and it opens up so many more doors for them. Some of the promotions today are willing to work together, and a title change that took place over the weekend could affect more than one of them. Kamille became the new NWA Women’s Champion over the weekend at NWA When Our Shadows Fall, defeating Serena Deeb to win the title. The NWA Women’s Title has been used by All Elite Wrestling over the course of AEW’s existence, including as recently as last week’s Double Or Nothing Buy-In show. There is no word on if the title will continued to be defended on AEW programming, though previous champion Thunder Rosa defended the title in AEW. WATCH: CM Punk Talks Putting Robin Williams In An Airplane Spin

June 7, 2021 • Admin

It’s one of a kind. Wrestling occupies a weird place in the celebrity world as you do not see wrestlers break into the mainstream very often. At the same time though, you do see some celebrities who know their way around wrestling, as several of them have been a fan at some point in their lives. Now there is a new story of how a pretty famous actor had a run in with a top name wrestler and things got interesting. CM Punk was a guest on the Wrestling Perspective Podcast and told a story about staying at Lars Frederiksen’s (one of the show’s co-hosts) house when actor Robin Williams was there as well. Williams found out that Punk was sleeping upstairs and decided to splash him in bed. Punk woke up and chased Williams down, eventually tackling him and putting him in an airplane spin in the street. Punk did not realize it was Williams until he started chasing after him. That’s one of the most out there stories you’ll ever hear. Check out Punk’s appearance with some other cool stories: [..

VIDEO: Kylie Rae Returns To The Ring, Signs New Contract

June 7, 2021 • Admin

Welcome back. Wrestlers can be a unique breed as you can see them come and go from the industry. Some of them will stick around for a long time but others will try to leave but wind up right back where they were. That can make for some interesting situations and it seems to be the case again with a wrestler who has seemingly had some issues staying in one place. This weekend, Kylie Rae made her NWA debut at When Our Shadows Fall. It was announced that she was officially signed to the promotion and would be appearing regularly. Rae teamed Taryn Terrell and defeated Thunder Rosa and Melina in a tag match. This comes a day after Rae successfully defended her Warrior Wrestling Women’s Title in her first match of the year. Rae had been part of Impact Wrestling from October 2019 – October 2020, including becoming the #1 contender for the Knockouts Title. However, she did not appear at Bound For Glory for her title shot. After the no show, Rae announced her retirement from professional wres..

Backstage News On Jungle Boy’s AEW Push And Why It Was Stalled

June 7, 2021 • Admin

What could have been. You never know when you are going to see the next big thing in wrestling. Sometimes you see someone get the chance that they have been waiting on for a long time, but there are also instances where it does not take nearly as long. The latter was almost the case last year with a young star, but certain circumstances kept it from coming together. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW postponed Jungle Boy’s push until live fans were back. The original plan for Jungle Boy was to have him face Chris Jericho for the AEW World Title in a program but the Coronavirus pandemic forced the change. Jericho lost the title in February 2020 and Jungle Boy has since won the Casino Battle Royal to become the new #1 contender to Kenny Omega’s World Title. This has serious potential. Check out what Jungle Boy can do in the ring and his awesome theme song: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click t..

Plans Revealed For A Stable Made Of Released WWE Stars

June 7, 2021 • Admin

What could have been. Stables are one of the easiest ideas in all of wrestling. You take some people with a similar status or character or really anything you choose and put them together. It is an idea that has worked for decades and always will in one way or another. That is still the case in WWE, and now we know what might have been with a stable proposed not that long ago. Earlier this week, WWE released several wrestlers from the company, including Santana Garrett. According to Fightful Select, Garrett’s release was not a surprise to various people inside WWE. Garrett had been part of the main roster for just over a year but only appeared in three matches, including this year’s Royal Rumble. She did not have a match that lasted more than five minutes while part of the main roster. There were several creative plans pitched for Garrett, with the most prominent being part of a stable involving Vanessa Borne and Chelsea Green on one of the two main roster shows. Both Borne and Green..

205 Live Results – June 4, 2021

June 7, 2021 • Admin

205 Live Date: June 4, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness There are some new wrestlers around here but things are already starting to sink into the same problems the show has had for months now. I’m hoping that they find some way to make it better, but there are only so many things that can be done with the limitations that 205 Live has. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Ari Sterling vs. Sunil Singh A rollup gives Sterling a quick one but he has to fight out of a headlock. Sunil gets knocked outside so the Boyz try to make a switch….which doesn’t work as they don’t look alike. The referee tells Samir to get out but Sunil uses the distraction to come in for a chop block. Some leg cranking ensues but Sterling kicks him over the top for trying a cannonball. Sunil takes him down again though and it’s a slingshot elbow to the knee to put Sterling in trouble again. The Bollywood Lock goes on but Sterling turns it over for..

Triple H Appears at NBA Game In DX Gear

June 6, 2021 • Admin

Getting things started the right way. One of the great traditions in the NBA is the ringing of the bell before the Philadephia 76ers take the court for a home game. This is to pay homage to the Liberty Bell, which resides in the city of Brotherly Love. Today, however, Triple H made his presence felt during this ceremony. The Game walked out with 76ers star Joel Embiid, coming out to the Degeneration-X theme and wearing DX gear. After a few crotch chops and pandering to the crowd, Triple H rang the bell with his trademark sledgehammer to get the game started. You can see the clip below: Joel Embiid came out DX style and rang the bell with Triple H. pic.twitter.com/HafuuFeuxb — Rich Hofmann (@rich_hofmann) June 6, 2021 Ring the bell. #ThrustTheProcess@sixers @JoelEmbiid pic.twitter.com/4pMGEbARyr — Triple H (@TripleH) June 6, 2021 The 76ers are playing the Atlanta Hawks in the 2021 Eastern Conference semifinals. Ex-WWE Star Reveals How WWE Used Sanity’s Ideas For Retribution

June 6, 2021 • Admin

What could have been. There have been a lot of stales in WWE history and some of them do not receive a lot of attention. For every Evolution, there are several more which do not make the biggest impact. That can leave a lot of groups mostly lost to history, but every now and then you see a bit of a reference to one of them. It turns out that was the case last year, but it was not exactly what you would have expected. In an interview with Fightful Select, former WWE star Alexander Wolfe revealed that several of the original ideas for the Retribution stable was pitched by Sanity when they were called up to SmackDown in 2018. Several of the same ideas are now being used by Eric Young, the former leader of Sanity, in his Violent By Design stable in Impact Wrestling. Sanity was part of WWE from April 2018 until April 2019. Wolfe was part of the Sanity stable along with Young, Killian Dain, Nikki Cross and Sawyer Fulton, the latter two of whom did not appear with them on SmackDown. The tea..

RUMOR: AEW Star Out Of Action With Injury

June 6, 2021 • Admin

That would explain a bit. Injuries can happen to anyone at almost any time and unfortunately there is no way to completely prevent them. Every wrestler gets hurt at some point and the only difference is how long they are going to be kept out of the ring. That is the case again with an AEW wrestler, but his time on the shelf might be a little bit shorter than expected. According to Bodyslam.net, AEW’s Rey Fenix is out of action with a groin injury. The injury took place about two weeks ago and was scheduled to keep him out of action for six to eight weeks, meaning he could be back as soon as early July. There is no word on when Fenix was injured. He was written off of AEW television during this week’s edition of Dynamite when it was announced that the Young Bucks attacked him backstage. Fenix is one of the best high fliers going today. Check out what he can do in and above the ring: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post con..

WWE Has Some Interesting Plans For Summerslam’s Schedule

June 6, 2021 • Admin

They have a plan. We are still a few months away from Summerslam but that does not mean it is too early to start planning. There are a lot of things that need to be done before the show gets here and now a lot of the details are starting to fall into place. WWE has taken the time to make those details work, including one which has nothing to do with wrestling. This weekend, WWE announced that Summerslam 2021 will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, August 21. The date was known in advance but the venue had yet to be confirmed. The situation may cause WWE some scheduling conflicts as the show is in the same city and on the same date as a major boxing match, but WWE has a plan in advance. According to PWInsider.com, WWE’s plan to deal with the Pacquiao fight is to have Summerslam end early enough for fans to either make it to the fight or to watch it on pay per view elsewhere. Summerslam is currently scheduled to begin at 8pm EST with the fight taking plac..
