WWE SmackDown Live Results – July 18 2017

Welcome to our SmackDown Live results, less than a week away from WWE Battleground!

WWE Champion Jinder Mahal brings the Punjabi Prison structure to SmackDown Live! It’s been a decade since we’ve had a Punjabi Prison match in WWE, so I’m curious to see if the structure itself will have changed at all. It’s unclear what Mahal will do with the Prison but Randy Orton is scheduled to return on tonight’s SmackDown!

The main event for tonight’s SmackDown Live gives us a preview to two of Battleground’s biggest matches as AJ Styles teams with Shinsuke Nakamura to face Kevin Owens and Baron Corbin. SmackDown Live has unfortunately been featuring quite a few tag matches recently, which always feels like lazy booking, but I expect these four guys to put on a heck of a match. Sparks should fly between the combatants as Owens faces Styles for the US Championship in less than a week, and Corbin also faces Nakamura at the PPV.

We get a big in-ring debut on tonight’s SmackDown Live, which sees Mike Kanellis take on Sami Zayn. For weeks Sami has unintentionally crashed the romance between Mike and Maria Kanellis, which led to Mike finally bursting last week and smashing a glass over Sami’s head. I figured this match would be kept until Battleground but we’re getting it tonight, which will probably end in a no contest or some form of screwy finish that leads to a Battleground rematch.

And finally, The Fashion Police will take one step closer to finding out who was behind their attacks, and John Cena is set for a sit-down interview ahead of his Flag Match with Rusev! Are you excited for the show? Let us know on the free Ringside News and Ringside Talk apps, and enjoy the show!

The Revival Want a Shot at The Gold

After their victory over The Hardy Boyz Monday night, The Revival want a shot at the Tag Team Championship titles from Cesaro & Sheamus. Dash Wilder posted the following today on Twitter, telling Jason Jordan to ask his “daddy” Kurt Angle when they will get their shot:

Speaking of the Revival, WWE.com caught up with them after their victory Monday night and they talked about being the top guys. You can check out their remarks in the video embedded below:

WWE 205 Live Results – July 18 2017

Welcome to the fastest hour on television, 205 Live!

WWE seems to be painting a picture that Akira Tozawa is over-exerting himself and is too injured to compete. This was teased last week but then on last night’s Raw Tozawa was having his shoulder badly beaten by Ariya Daivari when Titus O’Neil threw the proverbial towel in. Tozawa was furious but was it the right call? Tozawa will likely look to compete tonight and either Neville or Daivari will again look to tackle the injured shoulder!

Elsewhere on tonight’s show, the saga between Drew Gulak and Mustafa Ali seems to be drawing to a close. For a few months the two have battled over ideology about how wrestling should be, and even traded wins and losses. Well tonight the two will battle in a 2-Out-Of-3-Falls match to determine who is right and if high-flying is the way to go, or best left in the past!

That’s our preview for tonight’s show. Download the free Ringside News app for all your daily wrestling news, and check out the Ringside Talk app to join in the conversation about what’s happening live! Enjoy the show!

Conversation with the Big Guy Recap – Surprises at Live Events, Ripping Dirt Sheets, What Move Has Ryback Stopped Using? More!

Ryback is joined on today’s show by his co-host Pat Buck.

Ryback informs that he just finished another stem cell procedure, which is helping him with injuries he suffered over his career in professional wrestling. He is having issues with the discs in his neck/back, and for this reason he says he is done performing any type of stunner manoeuvre. He says that even executing a leg drop is very hard on your body when you do it for multiple years.

Ryback comments on some negative buzz that he has received on the indie scene, with some people thinking that he’s failing on the indies simply because they don’t see him wrestling for certain promotions. He informs that he’s simply choosing not to wrestle for some promotions, because he’s not wrestling for free or for a discount since he knows his value.

He says that people can criticize him all day long but he knows how hard he works, and if any of these critics spent any time with him they’d see it too. He says that this past year has been a terrific year for him financially both with wrestling and with his supplement business, and while he continues to let his body heal, he’s not focused on working for any and all promotions that inquire about bookings.

WWE Has Long Term Plans for Kurt Angle & Jason Jordan

It looks like the American Alpha team is done for good after Jason Jordan was revealed to be Kurt Angle child on Monday’s episode of RAW.

Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Jason Jordan will receive a solid midcard level push on the RAW brand and will not be returning to the SmackDown Live brand. His former American Alpha partner Chad Gable will not be making the switch to RAW anytime in the near future either, so the team is basically done at this point.

In regards to the on-air relationship between Kurt and Jason, it’s being said that the two are expected to have lengthy storyline over the next few months as the Olympic athlete tries to be a father figure for Jason.

Kevin Owens Applauds WWE for Decision to Cancel Talking Smack

It was noted over the weekend that WWE decided to drop their Talking Smack show that airs Tuesday nights after 205 Live on the WWE Network.

Kevin Owens indicated on Twitter that there is no love lost in the decision to get rid of this show and and applauded WWE.

It should be noted that the show was not COMPLETELY dropped, as it will still air after SmackDown brand pay-per-view events.
