We’re on the way to Deadline and that means we need to add some people to the card. There are five spots each for the Iron Survivor matches and all of them need to be filled. Other than that, we could use some matches of any kind and that is where we probably start tonight. Let’s get to it.

Here is Toxic Attraction for a chat. Mandy Rose brags about keeping the Women’s Title last week, saying another one bit the dust. Now NXT has to set up this Iron Survivor Challenge to find a new contender for her title and she’ll be watching closely. Rose brags about their success but here are Kayden Carter and Katana Chance to interrupt. Carter mocks the idea of Rose doing everything herself and suggests that Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin will bail as soon as Rose loses the title. He wants back in. There are several different people involved in making a wrestling show work and some of them will never wrestle a match in their lives. In addition to the wrestlers themselves, there is the so called third person in the ring in the form of a referee. They can be very important as well and now another one wants to get back in the ring after some time away.
During an appearance on the UnSKripted podcast, former WWE referee Jack Doan said that he would love to return to the company after a nine year absence. Doan said that he would have to discuss such a move with his wife but he would want to return. Doan was released from WWE in 2013 after having refereed with the company for around twenty years. There is no word on if WWE would be interested in having Doan, 50, back.

It’s old school time and as luck would have it, we’re going with something from one of the best eras the company has ever had. Steve Austin is back from his neck surgery and going after the mastermind behind his attack with another match against HHH. She doesn’t sound pleased. Wrestling is a lot of things, but at the end of the day, it is not a secret that the match results are planned in advance. The wrestlers are real athletes and are putting in the effort whenever they are in the ring. There are a handful of stars who can legitimately take down just about anyone they care to, and now one of them does not seem happy with a fellow star.

Last week on SmackDown, Raquel Rodriguez interrupted the Shayna Baszler vs. Shotzi match, resulting in Baszler getting distracted and rolled up for the pin. Rousey and Baszler were interviewed later in the night on SmackDown LowDown, with Rousey saying that Rodriguez disrespected herself and Baszler. That’s a long time. There are a lot of wrestling events held throughout the year but none of them top WrestleMania. For almost forty years, the annual event has become the most important in the business from multiple perspectives. As a result, cities will bid to host the show and it can be quite the financial boon to the local economy. Now, we have an idea of where WrestleMania will be heading down the road.

According to the Tennessean (Nashville, Tennessee newspaper), WrestleMania 43 could be coming to Nashville in 2027. Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. CEO Butch Spyridon has said that WWE offered the city a verbal commitment to host the event if Nashville builds a new enclosed stadium. A vote to hold the new stadium will be held in the near future. It’s a different way to go. There are all kinds of ways to make a wrestler stand and sometimes a promotion needs to do something different to shake it up. Occasionally you will see a wrestler get something changed up to offer a new presentation. That was the case again this week, as two wrestlers received a change each to freshen things up just a little bit.
This week on Monday Night Raw, a wrestler’s theme song and another wrestler’s ring name were both changed. First up, Johnny Gargano came to the ring for a match with the Miz to a remixed version of his “Rebel Heart” theme, featuring a new vocalist and rift. Later in the show, Mia Yim’s name was changed to “Michin”, which she said means “crazy” in Korean. The name change has also been made official on WWE.com.

Things have changed. There have been a lot of changes throughout the wrestling world this year and nothing has come close to Vince McMahon retiring from WWE. McMahon leaving the company is the kind of game changer that you do not see take place in wrestling and now there is a new regime in charge. A former WWE star has an interesting take on the two regimes.

Following McMahon’s retirement from WWE, Triple H became one of the powerful names in the company. Former WWE star CJ Perry, known as Lana during her time in the company, spoke with Wrestlinginc.com, spoke about the differences between the two. Perry said that Triple H had given women opportunities as a manager, while McMahon was “more traditional”. According to Perry, McMahon almost did not let her manage Miro (Rusev in WWE) because ‘a hot girl can’t be with a heel guy, or he’ll get cheered’. Perry and Miro worked together from..

That’s not a good way to go. Wrestling is a unique business to say the least, as there are certain things that are done in the industry that would make no sense elsewhere. This ranges from how the workers are presented to how they are always on the move, the latter of which can get expensive. That can turn into a bigger problem if you annoy your boss, and that is what someone did to the biggest boss in wrestling.

During his YouTube show, former WWE personality Dutch Mantell revealed that James Dundee, formerly known as JC Ice during his time in WWE, was paid $100 for WrestleMania 13. Dundee had angered McMahon in some way and was paid $100 for getting involved in the Chicago Street Fight at WrestleMania 13. Mantell said this was far lower than the normal amount managers were paid for just walking to the ring at this point.

Becky Lynch has been out of action with a separated shoulder since August 1st. She was written off WWE television after suffering an attack from Damage Control. Big Match Becks hasn’t been featured on WWE programming since SummerSlam, but there are some rumors swirling about a potential WWE return must sooner than you’d think.
Following this week’s Monday Night Raw, WWE Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair has formed most of team for Survivor Series WarGames. However, she’s still one more member shy in the match. The rumor mill is reporting that Becky Lynch is anticipated to be revealed as the fifth member of the team soon.

That’s a tease. The AEW roster has grown quite a bit during the company’s three and a half year history. There have been several names to come and go from the locker room and it can mean a lot for a wrestler to get a spot in the company. While there have been several successes, there have been some who can’t seem to get out of the blocks. Now another one of the latter is teasing something.

AEW’s Andrade El Idolo has posted an image of himself holding his mask with the caption “I just want to say thank you!!! Bye” in both English and Spanish. El Idolo does not go into further details of what he is saying “bye” to. He is currently suspended from AEW after a backstage altercation with Sammy Guevara and has not wrestled a match for the company since September 4. There has been nothing to indicate that El Idolo is leaving AEW.

Monday Night Raw

It’s the last Raw before Survivor Series and the card is mostly set. Both WarGames matches are almost entirely ready to go following the return of Kevin Owens on Smackdown. Tonight is going to be about finding the final woman in the other WarGames match and adding in some other stuff to the show. Let’s get to it.

Here is Kevin Owens to quite the welcome. Owens says he is joining WarGames for the sake of one person and it’s not Sami Zayn. No matter what, he and Zayn are like brothers and they can deal with that later. No he’s doing this to remind Roman Reigns who he is. If it wasn’t for the Bloodline, the history making title reign would have been stopped earlier. Now he wants to take out the Bloodline so there is no one standing between him and the Universal Title.

Since the now infamous Hell in a Cell match between Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes back in June, the WWE Universe continues to wait for Cody’s return. All indications were that Cody would have been challenging Roman Reigns by SummerSlam. However, the torn pectoral muscle took him out of the game until next year.
The general consensus on the rumor mill is that Cody Rhodes is expected back for the Royal Rumble in January. That’s about six months of recovery time for him. The expectation if that happens is that Cody would win the match and main event WrestleMania 39 against Roman Reigns. People are counting on that, but it’s been a minute since we had an update.
